Welcome To The New Mudflats!

26 09 2008

Welcome, and behold the new and improved Mudflats! You’ll noticed that the name has changed to “The Mudflats”, but otherwise, things should look pretty familiar.

  • The old Mudflats site will remain where it is, with archived comments, if you need to refer to them. Copies of the older posts themselves will migrate over here bit by bit as I have time to copy and paste them.

And finally, a big huge THANK YOU to my wonderful, generous, brilliant tech guru and fellow Mudpuppy Snoskred and her trusty sidekick Sephyroth! They are the ones responsible for the look and functionality of this new blog, and for setting up the forums. If you haven’t heard from her at Mudflats recently, it’s been because she’s been working long hours for days on end to get this place up and running. So everyone, please, a huge, 6-continent round of applause for Snoskred and the rest of her team!

And as a congratulations for making the leap over the mud puddle to land in our new space, check out the Fun links over on the right. Hopefully they will provide you with a few relaxing moments of Zen between now and the election, or whenever this whole crazy political mud bath becomes just too much.

Congrats AKM and many thanks to Snoskred and Sephyroth. This is the only blog I visit. Well, it’s more than visiting. I live here. The links other posters provide keep me up to speed on what others are saying, so thanks to the other posters too.

I’m a little bummed that when I put my cursor over a link, I can’t preview it anymore, but I can live with that.

“The University of Illinois sent a memo to its employees last week telling them they can’t wear or distribute anything on campus that supports a particular candidate or party! U of I President Joseph White says the memo was intended to remind employees not to, as he put it, use school resources for politics.”

It actually makes sense to me. If I were a student, or if my kid was at college, I wouldn’t want them influenced by school employees. Too intimidating an atmosphere. As long as students aren’t silenced, I’m OK with that.

Who knew? Thank you for the Vermont information. My mother graduated from Middlebury, and my father gave the bacculauleate sermon in the chapel there many years ago. Just a wonderful memory to hear from you re: names. My cousin and aunt live there now, and I have a bumber sticker for Leahy which I cherish.

    Congratulations on the new digs!

I will have to look around later tonight, but I have a quick question,

Can anyone direct me to a site where they list the organizations that endorse the candidates? I looked on Obama and McCain’s sites, yet could not find a list of the different organizations that have come out and given endorsements.

    Thanks!

    Again….congratulations!

Congrats to everyone and a thank you too.
This is by far the best site on the web and it keeps getting better and better.
I only wish I had time to read everything. I work, come home, and sit here reading for hours and still…I can’t made a dent.

I look forward to watching The (new) Mudflats website evolve into even bigger & better things in the future. Yes, I plan on hanging around here long after November’s election is nothing but a bunch of “Saturday Night Live” skits that my grandchildren will view one day and ask, “Did the Republican Party mess up that badly during the 2008 election season?” ;-)

    Congrats on the new site!

A donation worth every penny to not have to read vile troll comments. I really needed a place to visit that is up-to-date with what’s going on as well as “friendly!” Thanks for leaving the light on for the rest of country – heck – make that world:) I’m all fired up for the debate. So as my co-worker said, let’s break out the Crystal Lite and microwave popcorn, it’s Hammer Time!

An artifact of my failing senior brain — I’m at a different computer, and just tried to go to “www.themudflats.com”. This turns out to be a bar and grill in Ohio. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Maybe you (sysadmin) could arrange reciprocal “if you were looking for the other Mudflats..” blurbs on the home pages??

Heck, maybe we can draw them in and convert at least a piece of Ohio to AK Mudthinking.
