It was an awesome rally!!!!!!! Wish that I was savvy enough to put my pix up.

My favorite bit was talking to Walt Monegan’s mother. What a great lady! By the time she got up to speak she was having a tough time, as the support of the crowd had moved her to tears (so of course I was in tears too because I’m that way). Lots of great speakers, lots of great signs & lots of positive energy.

I am looking forward to seeing all of the pix from those who are technically savvy enough to pull it off, and of course reading the Mudflat take on it.

I’ve asked before: what happens to Palin’s job as governor once this Republican campaign flames out and she’s left standing there wondering what just happened? Because it’s evident that is what’s going to happen. She doesn’t even need to put an exclamation point on the death of this McCain corpse (sorry) with a debate. It’s all done. So will she be welcomed back home? Does she get the governor’s office back? With what has been revealed, will her 80% approval rating tank or will Alaskans simply be happy that one of their own stepped into the breech and made it back alive?

It’s almost ten here in S. Jersey. This is the second time I’ve logged on to see the post re: the rally. I did go to the pictures and the signs looked great. I liked the chickens. The story at MamaDance about the post turtle was pretty funny and very on point. I going to see if I can find the website for the American Bar Association (I’m a neophyte at this web stuff) and see if there it lists any info on how to go about filing a complaint against an attorney. Since I work for lawyers and have for about 20 years now, I do know there is a code of ethics they must follow and advising clients to ignore subpoenaes is unethical.

Glad to see people somewhere in this great country of ours had a chance to get outside today. It’s been day no. 3 of rain and drizzle here, but right now it’s nighttime on the east coast and Penn State football is on.

Just watched JoePa take his 81 year old legs across the field at half-time and as I catch up on the internet news, I noticed Paul Newman passed on. Newman, to no one’s surprise except local conservatives, was of a liberal bent who contributed greatly to the less fortunate. JoePa, a regionally renowned conservative, has contributed much to Penn State but not all that much to the less fortunate.

One story being passed around the Penn State faithful is that JoePa – a great fan of John McCain – is not all that impressed with Sarah Palin or with McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin as VP. Unlike most recent elections, JoePa has said next to nothing about the Presidential election. This is of some concern to the political faithful. But not to the PSU football faithful.

    Why, you may ask?

Because when JoePa pays attention to football, PSU wins. When JoePa pays attention to the politics, PSU loses. JoePa, said to be annoyed with the selection of Sarah Palin to the national ticket, is ignoring the politics but is paying attention to football. And, as PSU is leading Illinois 21-14 at halftime, there are a whole bunch of PSU football people thanking John McCain for picking Sarah Palin.

So, thank you for picking a lighweight, John McCain! And thank you for being that lighweight, Sarah Palin!!

    Go, Penn State!!

  28. 29

Andrew – I don’t think Palin will get her governor’s slot back. The McCain people appear to have totally taken over that office.

Time for Alaska to have their own little tea party and take back the governor’s mansion in Juneau.

btw, for those of us who fill in the “website” slot on the comment page, will there again be a time when those of us who fill in that slot will find their user name will link to their personal blog?

advising clients to ignore subpoenaes is unethical.

It’s not unethical, it’s illegal, according to the Rule of Law. I’m so surprised that there aren’t 1000′s of attorneys applying for their Alaska license so they can have their day in the Supreme Court and win.

I’ve said it before, a subpoena is NOT an invitation, it is a command performance.

i totally agree TInydancer. What type of lawyer, let alone AG, would advise his clients to not follow a subpeona? I guess this another part of the “trickle down theorey” the republicans are so fond of. It started in the White House with the Bush Administration and the people in the Justice Department not responding to subpeonas, then onto Karl ‘Turd BLossom’ Rove, then Harriet Meiers…look at the example this White House has set! If this keeps up, we can look forward to no more court cases as people will think it is within their rights to just not show up.

Cassie Jeep I have a nice photo of your sign but darned if I can figure out how to get it linked here. I am not going to look at it right now and hope that later I’ll be able to figure it out.

Oh well, maybe someone else got a photo of it. FYI, several people were looking at it strangely, so had to explain to them that it was an inside joke sort of thing, and that the other 4 signs that I’d brought with me, the ones that were quite easy to understand, had been given to others… I even saw a couple of the signs that I’d handed off at the anti-Palin rally a while back. Good recycling guys & gals!!!

While I was out today with my sign I explained to someone from out of town what the deal was/is with this rally: Alaskans want the truth, and we deserve it. This was not a partisan rally, my signs did not talk about Obama (though we all wore our Obama shirts). I hoped that this rally would draw in Repubs as well as others, because many of them want to know the truth, and of course deserve to know it! He asked me about the TransCanada Pipeline deal and we had a little discussion about that as well. Crazy days here in AK.

Best to everyone, can’t wait to see AKM’s write-up. And maybe someday I’ll figure out how to get my photos to you all.

Sorry to interrupt the conversation, but I just have to ask Alaskans: Could Sarah Palin be faking her cluelessness? I watched the Katie Couric interview about Russia and her incoherence looked put-on to me. I have heard that the McCain-ites may be trying to lower expectations prior to her debate w/Biden. Those of you who have seen her in her role as Governor of Alaska, is that how she normally is? You all sound just as shocked as everyone else…

They wouldn’t risk the credibility of the campaign by faking Palin’s lack of intelligence. Sarah sounds better in the Alaska debates because she is familiar with Alaska politics and issues. Because Lady Sarah was allowed out of the Tower long enough to get a Philly cheesesteak, fell into conversation with another customer who just happened to ask her about Pakistan, and she just happened to make a fool of herself again: she supported Obama’s suggestion for cross-border raids, and when the guy asked, “What about Waziristan? I hear it’s blowing up!” she said it was blowing up, and added, “and the economy!” (of Waziristan?)

The customer gave his name as “Michael Rovito”, and a quick Google turns up a Temple grad student named Michael Rovito, but there’s also a Michael Rovito who works for the Alaska Frontiersman. That’s rather a whopping huge coincidence, no?

Slag, hope you get this. You asked which blog I found the link to the letters between Obama and McCain. It is John Coles and the link is:

    http://www.balloon-juice.com/?p=11439

It is the article about the debate narrative settling in.

Fine job, great pictures, loved most of the links but just not enough time to read them all today. Will be back again and again. I just can’t seem to get enough of Mudflatters…though I’ve had way to much of M/P today. I’m taking a break until after noon tomorrow, too.

Keep up the great energy and the good works.

WHy isn’t impeachment on the table for Gov. Palin?

Besides the investigation, it appears to me that this Gov. has encouraged her staff to break the law by directly or indirectly through the attorney general to by refusing to testify.

We recently lost the Gov. of NY for having sex with a prostitute.
She has lied to and obstructed an investigation that clearly needs to be done before she can run for VP.

Why are WE THE PEOPLE allowing this?

I got up this morning and checked this out first thing. I am so happy you got more people and more press coverage. I just can’t handle TV news, so I’ll keep checking in here and on The Forum to see how much it has been picked up.

Having been up to Anchorage many times from back here in PA, I know exactly where the rally was held, so I was there in spirit with you yesterday!

    Go, Alaska!

But thank you for taking my sign with you–it made me feel as if I were rallying with you!

Sarah Palin has introduced an interesting phenomena into American politics: Candidate Mainstreaming.
Governor Palin can’t be expected to answer the difficult questions. She’s a special candidate.
Won’t talk to unfriendly media outlets. Can’t take reporters unscripted queries. No off-the-cuff or on the spot.
    No So Sarah!
We can’t assume that as a future world leader she should know foreign policy facts or world economy figures.
    No So likely!
When her prepared statements are proven to be fiction, she is excused from the truth. Special!
And the lemurs keep on cheering, insisting she is a viable candidate and that can hold her own with terrorists and potentates.
But yesterday, when the McCain camp insisted on revamping the rules of the Vice Presidential debate to make reasonable accommodations for his running mate’s inexperience in debating, we reached the pinnacle of preposterousness.
Not even the simple community activist asked for divine debate intervention to shelter him from the 30 year politician and war hero!
Sarah Palin has become the all bark no bite pit bull, that will never be let of her leash in public.
How much longer will Americans fall for this shell game?
    Reasonable debate accommodations?
Palin is not a differently-abeled candidate requiring a wheelchair ramp or a companion dog to get to the podium. This is not a political leader, recovering from a serious health malady, needing time to heal before returning to the full demands of office. This is not a child, needing protection from media predators or the probing paparazzi.
    Hell No!
These unreasonable accommodations are being demanded and abused by the woman that could be President in a mere four months.
I don’t care about the bridge, or the plane, or the raise. I don’t want to hear another word about mavericks and reformers.
Screw the good old boys ntework!
    Shoot the NRA.
I want to hear about the USA!
No more gobbledygook about energy production and commanding the Alaskan National Guard from Ms. Palin!
I want her to explain the tribal differences in Iraq.
I want her to define our responsibility to the global community.
I want her to discuss Kazakhstan. Health care. Immigration. AIDS. Torture. Unemployment. Terry Schiavo.
Speak on women’s rights without mentioning that she played point guard in high school.
I want her to release her college transcripts. Her tax filings. Her health records.
John McCain can continue to hide her intellectual inadequacies behind a teleprompter until election day, but screaming debate foul, because she cannot stand up to the scrutiny that every other candidate has, is cowardly and condescending to the voters.
When did we decide that inexperience and ignorance is a protected disability?
Sarah, put up or shut up!
If you can hunt and kill and dress a wild moose, then have the guts to stand in front of a loaded camera and take it like a man!

Great photos by the adn. Alaska has some very nice looking women; glad to see a good many of them have brains to know the difference between a good politician and a crook.

btw – a person who shoots a moose has the courage of a person who shoots a cow. Because that’s what a moose is, a cow. No courage or skill involved in shooting a moose or a cow.

I just realized something. According to Palin Logic, I have more qualifications to be the VP than Palin! Sadly and unfortunately, I was in close proximity, live in NYC, and witnessed The World Trade Center Disaster. Everyday I am watching for suspicious activity and sometimes am dealing with post traumatic stress from 9/11!

Save the world and vote OBAMA/BIDEN!
Also, this bail out plan is a FARCE and SHOULD NOT PASS! It will NOT help the American people and it is a disgrace. Give the money directly to the people! I just read part of the document – it is almost 120 pages – and it is a SHAM!
