The Mudflats

Tiptoeing Through the Muck of Alaskan Politics

you-made-it

Welcome! You made it to the new Mudflats! It should look pretty familiar.

This new site will provide more versatility for me, and some nice new features for you!

I’d also like to encourage everyone again to keep the blog comments on topic, as I think it promotes some very lively and interesting conversations, and our wonderful “lurkers” and new Mudflatters seem to chime in more frequently. And don’t forget, the Night Kitchen Open Thread is always there for sudden epiphanies, impromptu conversations, and off-topic flashes of brilliance!

I’m thrilled that so many of you are finding your way around the Mudflats Forum. I, too, am learning more each day about all that is available over there in the room next door!

And all the old posts and comments are saved at the old site if you ever need them for reference.

So, settle in, make yourself comfortable, and welcome to the new digs!

hey! This looks just the same! You didn’t even paint the walls! Wait – somebody’s got cocoa and schnapps yummm ok I’m in!

shh – secret recipe revealed for my favourite got-snowed-in-can’t-work-today drink:

    Reindeer’s Breath

    1 cup good coffee
    1 heaping tablespoon dark cocoa
A healthy splash of Baileys Irish Cream
    A healthy splash Peppermint Schnapps
Top the lot with thickened cream, dash of green Creme De Menthe
    Stir with peppermint candy cane

    ooooo I miss the snow!

Is the coffee on? OzMud, can I get a splash of your Bailey’s to go with it? I brought the Sambuca and whipped cream…one Grirish Coffee, comin’ up!

    I cup fresh-brewed quality coffee
Generous splash of Bailey’s Irish Cream
    Generous splash of Sambuca
    Dolop of whipped cream
One Maraschino cherry, optional for garnish (good to let it fall to the bottom of the glass and let soak until you get to the bottom of the glass…yummy treat!)

We had snow in NYC -
here’s something to warm you up.

    Its called a café’ Tolino

roughly equal parts of Brandy , triple sec and Orange Cirsao (sp?)
(Optional show/presentation- ignite in a metal bowl)
Douse with coffee. Serve hot in espresso cups with a dab of ice cream.

    Good for cold winters …

Should all go well with the confetti birthday cake with the 5-0 candles. And yes, the new 39 works for me! Thanks for that, wired!

Here’s a hint for those who care about spelling in blog posts. Use Mozilla Firefox as your browser. When you make a spelling mistake, there is a red underline under the word and all you have to do is right click on the misspelled word and choose the right word. I noticed the other day when I was using Explorer at work that this feature is not available in Explorer.
