We all know how Sarah Palin feels about anonymous bloggers, but it looks like she’s giving the media even less credit than I thought. NOW, Palin is saying that it’s not only the owners of the blogs, but the anonymous bloggers in the comments that she says are being hailed by the mainstream media as a “hard news source.”
Dennis Zaki of The Alaska Report offers this newest interview with the question, “What would you want to tell anonymous bloggers.” So listen up, Mudflatters! She’s talking to you!

She just doesn’t get the whole idea of the Internet, does she? Does the woman not understand about the danger of putting your personal contact info out there for all and sundry? Nicknames exist for a reason. With the proper authority, it’s almost always possible to track a blogger’s identity–or to respond to a blog item, often directly to the writer–off-line, even! And as for credible journalists treating “anonymous bloggers” as “hard news sources,” that’s just ludicrous. As others have pointed out, credible journalists may find stories worth pursuing on blogs, the the standards and practices of journalism and blogging are so very different that it’s hard to know where to begin.
I wonder if she reads these posts herself. If so, I sure hope all my comments about her lazy eye don’t make her feel too self conscious….. LOL

Ok, I have to fess up, I’m sitting here in my jammies. Hey it’s past midnight. I’m kind of anonymous, unless you go look at the forums, where I’ve posted some very personal things about myself, including being from ID. I’ve come to think of this blog and the folks here as my extended community, almost as close as family. I do admit that I like posting under my nickname, since I’ve used it online in emails, chat lines, forums, boards and games for more than 10 yrs. So it can’t be that hard to Google and learn even more about me. I say this because many of us that join blog communities fit this same profile. We come here because we have something in common. For one thing we want to know more about AK and the Gov. We consistantly find and share what we are looking here on Mudflats.
If SP doesn’t get it, then why is she claiming to be a public figure or the Gov. It comes with the job, people want to know who she is and what she does. Also what she doesn’t do, namely show up for work, no so much.

I just posted this last thread…….lol…..did anyone catch the fact that Palin first claims she’d like anonymous bloggers to use their real names so they can be held accountable if they are lying, but if it’s blogging only for information, or if they want to get their curiousity up (?, lol) or have a point to make that’s legit, that’s fine, (no name needed then Sarah?) and then if that comment or point made becomes a hard news source it becomes frustrating to her. (well dear Sarah, what makes the real news is actually fact checked, so stop with the blame game)
And what’s REALLY funny and CURIOUS is……Palin then says, and of course ya know, I speak from personal experience, of being the subject matter, when people have lied on those blogs…..(watching her facial expressions, she loves to “say” her opinion on something)

As to what do children with Down Syndrome need? They all benefit greatly from early intervention – i.e. speech, physical and occupational therapy and extra education for the parents. Even the parents of many other children need to learn a few new things when they have a child with special needs. The biggest thing a child with DS needs from his/her mom and dad is the same unconditional love that they give/gave to their other children. But, I doubt that Trigg is getting any or all of those things. She carried him like a sack of potatoes in every video I’ve ever seen of her holding him. I think Todd and the other children treat Trigg so much better (at least on camera) and hold him with the care and love he deserves. My heart goes out to Trigg and all of Sister Sarah’s children.

And I trust she is doing likewise with respect to any site that has published the comments about the President Elect’s birth certificate, the rumor that he is Muslim, the silliness about his childhood education, the notion that he won’t salute the flat, and the like. Certainly, she can’t possibly be upset only at the comments that are negative about her, can she?

Back on th weekend Sarah Palin was announced as a VP candidate possibility, I wrote about reporters and bloggers, and how tey were handling their responsibilities over the first weekend of that candidacy:
It is ironic that the one reporter I cited in that article for flawed reporting, Robert Dillon, is now working for a GOP Senator.
And one of the biggest liberal blogs, where I first saw the “is it her baby or not” story was Daily Kos. Hardly anonymous. He has his name out there for everyone to see, and is frequently on news shows. Markos Moulitsas. Do a Google search lady and you can find out all about him. Send him an email and confront him directly. Or better yet, give him a call. I am sure he would LOVE to talk to you. Okay, I will stop now. The hypocrisy of her daring to use the word lies when Good Lord that’s all she does just made my blood boil.
I hope that anyone who has a REAL debate with her debates the importance of free speech and why is she worried about anonymity when she should be discussing the issues that people care about. I am sure she will not stay on topic and everyone will notice it. Than, the person debating her can start asking her questions and see how she squirms and squeals and completely looks like a moron (as usual in my opinion). Than she can complain about the GOTCHA DEBATOR!! Cry Palin Cry! That and LIE PALIN LIE are her slogans from me!
Getting off topic a bit, but there are a couple of questions I have yet to see answered on the blogs or elsewhere. First, exactly what formal education has Todd Palin, i.e., the Shadow Governor, had? Did he ever graduate from high school or not? I noticed some Alaskans use the phrase “finished high school”, which seemed to refer to students who attended school through their senior year but didn’t have the grades to graduate.
Second, what kind of special education, therapy programs, parental support groups, etc., are available for Downs syndrome children & their parents in Wasilla? in Anchorage? It is my understanding that Downs syndrome babies should be in special therapy programs practically from birth. This obviously wasn’t provided to Trig while he was being hauled around at all hours of the day and night on the campaign trail. Third, exactly who is providing daily care for Trig? It can’t be Sarah, because she is a full time governor, right? Bristol may be baby-sitting, but she is not qualified or trained to provide the specialized care and therapy Trig requires. What specialized care and therapy is being provided to him and by whom?
Sarah couldn’t be inconvenienced enough to take the necessary precautions for him while she was pregnant, even to the incredible point of having him delivered in Wasilla’s tiny medical “hospital” instead of the Anchorage hospital with provisions for high risk pregnancies and specialized pediatric care available for newborns. One “anonymous blogger” who id’d herself as an Alaskan physician, said that the other doctors with whom she discussed Palin’s bizarre behavior (her refusal to go to a hospital in Texas when her water broke, followed by the cross country air travel, and then bypassing Anchorage to go to Wasilla deliver) thought Sarah was trying to have what Alaskan doctors refer to as a “fundie” abortion, i.e., taking risks throughout pregnancy in hopes of “losing” the baby.
Downs syndrome children can have quite a range of impairment. The more therapy they receive, the higher they will be able to function. Higher functioning Downs syndrome individuals can remain at home and have a nearly normal life expectancy. Sarah has a history of using her kids as props and shields. It hasn’t worked out well for any of them so far.
KO called Sarah a liar many times……so did Rachel……..she knows who and where they are . So Sarah – whatcha’ gonna say or do ?!?!
Notice when The Prom Queen complains about anonymous bloggers, she always infers they are hurting her children. What a crock- she is a master at deflecting criticism by crying, boo hoo, take on me but don’t hurt my kids- all the while avoiding the tough questions. If she was tough, she’d talk about Troopergate, Housegate, Vacationgate, Emailgate, the Doomed Pipeline, the Healy coal mine, the Flint Refinery (see Halcrow for that one), the lack of support for federal funds to repair Alaska’s roads…the list goes on and on.
If you are such a hot-shot governor, SP, you’d stand up and defend your record.
Would the next interviewer who SP talks to (it won’t be long), please ask SP to denounce the racial and obnoxious views that can be seen every day in the live chat on Team Sarah. You know, the anonymous bloggers who are trying to get her elected in 2012. Watch them squawk in real time if she does. If she won’t, then she is hoisted by her own petard.

SP is still throwing hissy fits about the rumors that she is not Trig’s mom. She just doesn’t get it that she is contributing to those rumors by not releasing information on his birth. She has the power to stop those rumors, but she refuses to do so. My question is…why?
Let’s see, I wonder if William Ayers, that “domestic terrorist,” might have a problem with some of the lies that Ms. Palin told on the campaign trail. Or perhaps Reverend Wright?

Seems to me that there are more than enough lies to go around, Ms. Palin. Although I do believe that Ms. Palin’s family should have been kept out of it, it perhaps would have been easier to keep them out of it if she hadn’t dragged them into the spotlight with her. And perhaps she could have thought of that before using her baby like a stage prop.
Why label those who contribute to and ask questions at Palin’s Deception “teeming nutballs?” You are entitled to your opinion about Babygate, but please don’t disparage those who have reached a different, and in my opinion, a much more supportable conclusion.
Ms. BibleSpice could easily dispel any misconceptions by documenting her 5th pregnancy. That she refuses to do so makes her feeble protestations laughable and lends credibility to those who doubt her story.

So her declaring we are anonymous is declaring her ignorance and exploiting the fact that others are oblivious to the workings of the Internet as well. She counts on fans or others that will not research on their own or that if they do, they will just think that the allegations are too outlandish to be believed, because quite frankly…..

I saw an interesting interview w/3 people yesterday (can’t recall which channel, CNN maybe?), 3 journalists. One of them pointed out that very thing, pointed out that she could not have it both ways, as there are tons of right-wing blogs out there that talk smack about Obama while at the same time supporting her.
Sadly, there is virtually no chance that she will recognize – let alone admit to – any irony or hypocrisy in her statements &/or position.

It would be a great time for Gov Palin to show how she is the fast study she claims to be and to start publicizing information about special therapies for individuals with DD and waiting lists. Heck, even though this may not be exactly right, if she learns stuff quickly as she claims, and since she thinks Alaska’s money is her own, she could fly around to all the rural areas and do a parent-professional demos and talk on early intervention for Down’s and other disabilities…
I have a kid with multiple disabilities (much more severe than Down’s) who is now age 20, and I tell you, while the kids with Down’s may look slower in early intervention than kids with other disabilities, often they will go much much further. While she still has the bully pulpit of the governor’s job:

My opinion of SP keeping the Trig debate live, is that it is her baby, ulitimately she can prove that. It is a cover to make the rumours that are true look dodgy. She is very devious. Her friends should be wary as well as her enemies, there is a very thin line seperating the two.
Sarah needs to have her “people” call KO and Rachel’s “people” and go on their shows and dispel and refute all the “lies”. Since Special Ed kids can attend public school till age 21, I’d like to give Sarah a couple of visions of a child with Down’s since I have known more than a few and since she claims to read the blogs:
Late grade school, early JH, my kid played on a Challenger Little League team (everyone plays from the A-B student in a wheelchair due to a Spina Bifida, to kids who use a walker, are in a manual or motor wheelchair, have ADHD or learning disabilities). In Challenger Little League (unlike Special Olympics) everyone does what they can and gets the help they need. Those who assist are buddies or “profoundly normal” kids from another Little League team and may only be there for one game. Kids bat if they can from a pitch or a tee or even hand over hand from a tee. They run the bases on their own, or with a buddy, or are pushed in a wheelchair or hustle in their walker (my kids’s buddy missed a ball thrown to my kid in the outfield, but it landed hard in her lap and she instantly picked it up – we figured based on “abilities” that was an out, the only one of her 3 year career BTW) …
A couple of the boys with Down’s were real clowns. They would check to see that all the audience was watching , lick both hands or pick up some dirt and then wipe them off, lots of foot action, fake prep swings, etc… Too funny! Also had teams from other towns come and we were all on a float which we helped decorate for our Fourth of July parade… Lots of fun…
At a camp for kids with disabilities (non-disabled siblings or friends welcome to also attend if a kid had no siblings), the kids with Downs always did the best air guitar at talent afternoon end of season…
Now, at the end of HS, I know a young woman with Downs who has held a PT job at a fast food restaurant for a couple of years and who dances in a performance troupe which has individuals with and without disabilities…

I wish ya alls would get off that stupid babygate thing. It’s about as relevant as asking her for her birth control method, if any. The constant yapping about Trigg is going to ring up big sympathy points for her in 2010 or 2012 regardless of her record as a governor.
That being said… someone needs to show her the US Bill of Rights, particularly that First Amendment right there. There may also be a free speech clause in the AK Constitution. Either way, she’s got no business telling us bloggers, anon or not, what to say or how to say it.

The story that Andrew Halcro broke, a day in the life, should be picked up and presented all over the State. This woman does NOT have the time NOR the ability to effectively govern the State of Alaska. So many photo op’s, and lunch dates to attend. Never mind really being a Governor and running the State. Rachel Maddow had a segment on her show regarding the “Troopergate” situation in which she flat out calls She Who Will Not Be Named a Liar. There. On national television. (Can still be seen on You Tube.) So why hasn’t SWWNBN called Rachel out on it?
I second Lance the Boil in his position that as annoying as it is to have SWWNBN continually being interviewed, the correct position is, the more tape on her, both transcripts, audio and video the better. Her own whining, and general cluelessness are priceless.

Please note the stark contrast in Palin’s demeanor between the two videos. Very telling.
The first was shortly after the campaign ended (Thank you, God!) and Palin gave the impression to Blitzer that she was amenable to the media (of course when it suited her). Remember, she had handlers then, and I do believe they were shielding her from bad press.
Now that she’s back in Alaska, sans handlers (or the sheer numbers of them), she more than likely has become aware of the bad press that continually surrounds her. Of course she doesn’t have cheering crowds to energize her. Add to it the lack of light here in Alaska.
I firmly believe she is starting to crack, as others here have stated.
Palin is the Britney Spears of politics. Hopefully, like she tried to pardon a turkey to look presidential, Palin will skip the barber shop in an attempt to garner sympathy.

There seem to be inexorable pressures on her, due to the AK budget problems, her boredom with AK and pursuit of national publicity, and whatever the truth is in the Trip/Trig puzzle, which appears to have ignited her “war against bloggers”.
Most significantly, the people of AK appear to have lost any fear of her retribution, and expect her to actually do some work as governor.
It will be very interesting what the next few weeks bring. We must be mindful that her appeal to the nut base remains huge, and that vigilance and scrutiny is necessary to curtail her influence on both AK and the lower 48.
Say No TO Palin In Politics (09:41:53) :
As a nurse, and as a mother of a special needs child, I can assure you that I have concerns about Trig’s well-being as well. I’m very sensitive to all of those with special needs and the parents that care for them. It’s not easy.
IMO Trig appears very affected by Down’s syndrome. I believe the Palin’s were quoted as saying that he is getting therapy since he is delayed, and very obviously is. He should be able to hold his head up by now, and it appears in the video that he has trouble doing that. I have to wonder to if he suffered an insult due to the length of time Palin traveled prior to delivering without seeking proper medical care. Perhaps a hypoxic-anoxic brain injury.
The average IQ for a Down’s child is 40. It takes lots of intensive work to achieve more than the average. It happens, I have seen many a Down’s child achieve a lot. The common thread, the parents are committed. I question Palin’s commitment.
When my son was diagnosed I quit my job and left behind a substantial income because it was the right thing to do. (Of course, luckily I could do that, as many can’t). Palin could easily give up what she does to commit to her child since her husband has a good job.
I believe Palin’s need for the national spotlight is to deflect from the reality of her life. She has to “serve” to avoid doing what she should be doing. Remember, Todd still works on the slope, so he is NOT a stay-at-home dad.
Trig needs consistent and intensive help from committed parents to achieve great potential. That’s questionable at this point.
okay…..so is this true or not. Sarah was quoted saying it. Did ADN actually call her “yesterday”, yet again? or is she lying to make her story better? we’ve heard her say this before, it sounds like a repeat of that, yet she says in this very recent interview “just yesterday” ADN called her about Trig.
Is she trying to reinforce that her word and a letter are fact? I personally don’t care who is Trigs birth mother, but I do care about how he’s being cared for.
There are bigger lies that have to do with her job as Gov that I’d rather expose. I think this is all a smoke screen to throw attention off the real trail. It’s a hunting thing.

I believe anonymity while blogging is essential.
Case in point: many moons ago I blogged on the ADN website using my own name. I have had strong anti-Palin opinions since BEFORE her election as governor. My number is unlisted, but at the time, my teens’ number was listed. I was getting frequent hang-ups from unknown callers (no caller-ID on my teens’ phone). I finally disconnected the line and quit using my own name (and quit blogging on ADN).
There are seriously demented folks out there. We should all be very careful. It’s not worth jeopardizing your family’s safety.
Ironically, shortly after Palin was elected, they stopped reporting her whereabouts for “security reasons.” The next day she was photographed at a sports event.

Secret Shopper- How inportant is it to start therapy as a baby? I feel she needs to be held accountable about getting on a plane while in labor. No Doctor I know would ever allow this. I have wondered if getting on a plane this late in a pregnency could have added to Trigs problems.

Track played hockey for YEARS and even spent part of his jr. and sr. years of HS (I think) in Wisconsin or Michigan at a hockey focused high school (until he injured his shoulder and returned to Wasilla to graduate with his class, at least as the story goes).
Have I missed it altogether, or is she the only politician complaining about bloggers? Sorry to upset you Sarah dear, but we are not going away. You will just have to learn to “deal with it”. I don’t agree with Gov. Palin’s views but think she is a tough cookie. The world that she is in is going to get tougher if she wants to run in 2012 for higher office. Get a thick skin or thicker one Gov. Once a person is in the “light” there are always going to be those who love you and those that hate you for whatever reason. In the next day or two I will be releasing a piece I have written about the birth of Trig, based on factual evidence. My identity will be revealed at that time, since my background in labor and delivery is key. I think the “conspiracy theory” need to be laid to rest since it is overshadowing the real and more damning issue than faking a pregnancy:
Palin knowingly and recklessly endangered her life and the life of her unborn child for the sake of self-promotion.
Whether Trig now suffers from complications due to the lack of proper medical care, we may never know, since DS clouds the picture.

I do believe the increased speculation about Palin’s personal life, the increased coverage from national sources about Alaskan issues and politics and excellent blogs such as Mudflats is far more visibility and inspection than the Gov ever anticipated. There is some damaging truth out there whether it be revealing a personal issue which she thought was effectively covered up or an investigation of her behavior and practices as a Governor (Troopergate, Housegate, etc) that will ultimately be verified and end her reign.
I completely concur with Margot. I’m a bit younger (57) but I grew up during the cold war and remember much of that pretty vividly as well, especially the duck and cover routines at school (I grew up in the Bay Area and we were one of those major ‘red dot’ targets so the threat was very real), the era of bomb shelters, civil rights, Viet Nam, etc. But NOTHING has scared me as much as the thought back in September of 2008 that Palin would hold the second highest office in the land and potentially be responsible for making decisions affecting my business, my safety, my financial security and my right to a free society. Imagine this governor facing what Obama faces for the next 4-8 years and having Palin as the person dealing with negotiating with world leaders.
Alaskans have the opportunity in the next 18 months to make sure that this woman never sees another political office or appointment. 2010 is a short hop away in political time.
I think she sees her fortunes evaporating with the increased scrutiny. Her reactions are of one who feels the noose tightening. Keep at it anon bloggers….eventually truth and karma win out!

I had a baby 7 weeks premature and we were med evacced to a better hospital. He was diagnosed with Developmental delays and I had him in a program called the infant learning program. When we faced difficulties in the small town we lived in we moved, due to lack of the proper equipment for emergencies.
So I ended up not working and took care of him, to this day (13 years later) I get choked up when I read or know of a person who delivers prematurely. My heart goes out to any parent that has to deal with it. They do have programs in Alaska. Also to the baby, thankfully my son caught up by the time he hit grade 5!
As for getting off the topic, I agree, when I voted it wasnt based on anything I heard about the media expressing any opinion. MY decision was based on information I received from Obama/Biden and what they would do for all the issues we face. . My decision to never take SP serious, is because she never did answer what she will do to make life better for us. I am an Alaskan, The day she focuses on the issues that we face, they are…to make life the way it was when I grew up. I will support her. But as it stands, we are far from that in Alaska. There are so many issues too, i.e. The budget, The permanent fund divestment, Education, Heating in Rural communities, Education, (I listed Education 2x because I believe it is important) Better healthcare and accessiblity. I can go on and on but won’t.

It’s right at a 90 degree turn in the hallway, and the carpets were installed with mitres at the corners and such so as to make them work. I could go back and check some time, but I think that’s why they look weird. On some floors there is a diff. carpet on the sides than down the middle.

The boy had been pestering Wooten to taser him so he could see what it was like. Wooten finally relented. He set the taser on the lowest setting and attached it to the boy’s clothing. This is the same way the officers are required to experience tasering during training.
The boy was not hurt, and his mother, SP’s sister, was present the whole time. It wasn’t until the divorce some time later, that the episode was brought up as an inflammatory issue.

empish – It was just curious how the Dr. completely dropped off the radar at the same time the questions on the judgement of Sarah and her pregnancy and subsequent birth were being first asked . Also at that time , there were several people posting on this blog who are pediatricians and pediatric nurses who were that stunned that a Dr. would let her pregnant patient fly that far along . All of the references on state and hospital web-sites that pertained to the Dr. suddenly were wiped away . Then the Dr. wrote the famous 1 page letter that Sarah passed off as her “Medical Records” ..I dunno…call me picky ….there just seems to be a lot of questions . And no – Dr.CBJ is not a target……..but Sarah is. And if you stand around her or are complicit in her lies…….you might get hit.

With all due respect Dr. CBJ is NOT an Ob/Gyn. There is a distinction. Granted she does have a fine reputation as a family practitioner; however, she does not possess the same degree of training as a Board-certified Ob/Gyn. There are a couple of Ob/Gyn’s in the Valley, but I believe they are pro-choice.
I have worked with some fine family practitioners in labor & delivery, but I’ve also worked with a greater number of very scary ones.
