Not that it’s any help for the immediate situation, but WE know, and most of this country knows what kind of Prez is leaving office in just five days (YAY).
For those who posted “Hey’ they got $27 grand, where’d that all go?” Just try this on for size: Median income for the U.S. is what – around $53-56,000-ish, I believe. And that’s in the contiguous US (lower 48), where the cost of living is WAY less than in AK.
The closest would likely be New York or San Francisco… and the median income there is higher, to match said cost of living.
Does anyone still want to ask “where did that 27 grand go” now? Or are we going to be subjected to more examples of that much vaunted “compassionate conservatism?”
So for you, SillyWabbit (I LOVE that name!), hang in there. I think the best thing we can all do with our rage, disbelief etc is to make it work FOR us. For those who need the action they’ve not seen so far from their own (so-called) representatives.

Ragin: to be honest folks. This sort of situation has been happening on reservations in the lower 48 for decades. 75 to 80% unemployment in Pine Ridge. Now it hits home with us because it is our families. If SP helps this village, she’ll have to help all of them and then the upper class Republicans in town will scream at her that she isn’t a Republican. She can’t very well have that.
I was serious about what I said on the radio though. I do believe her minions have Google Alerts set up with just her name. If blogs and news articles mentioned her by name with regard to Emmonak, it would then be on their radar. Craig Campbell and the others on that so called Rural Issues Task Force know that if they help Emmo, they will have to help them all and is not a conservative Republican core value.

I sent a donation to the Emmonak Tribal Council because the concept of helping people BEFORE they starve or freeze is the truly compassionate one.
My husband and I took over $75 of peanut butter and pilot bread to the Calista building. We put our names on it to say hello in that my husband is Cup’ik from Mekoryuk. A friend of ours here in town is from Emmo.
I’m not seeing much from AFN or Calista itself in the way of asking for help.
