I’ve Got a News Flash! Bob Lynn is (___fill in the blank___) and Beth Kerttula Rocks!
In an article just out on the Anchorage Daily News on the upcoming Legislative Session, I found myself almost clapping spontaneously to read the words:
“TROOPERGATE ISN’T GOING AWAY”
Because, to me, it’s like seeing a headline saying “The Law Isn’t Going Away” or “Accountability Isn’t Going Away.” It just makes you feel good to sort of drink that in with your eyes, before you read the rest of the piece and risk hypertension.
The Legislature’s report found Palin abused her power in allowing her husband and top aides to push for the firing of a state trooper who is her brother-in-law. But a second report, for the state personnel board, came to the opposite conclusion and found that Palin was not responsible for any wrongdoing. Palin said she considers the matter over and thinks people should move on.
State House Minority Leader Beth Kerttula said she isn’t ready to let the issues go.
“Troopergate isn’t going away, and it shouldn’t go away,” the Juneau Democrat said.
With hand on heart, I would like to say “thank you” to the House Minority Leader. I salute you! (salutes) I give you the one person ‘wave.’ (gets out of seat raises arms and does the wave) I toast you with a virtual glass of bubbly. I pat you on the back, shake your hand, and punch your shoulder. I give you a high five, a terrorist fist jab, a head-butt, a shout out, kudos, a long and heartfelt round of applause, and any other symbolic congratulatory supportive gesture I can come up with.
Just to get somebody to actually SAY it, feels like a Herculean task sometimes. Yes, folks, there is a vertebrate in the House! Beth Kerttula has a spine.
On to the next nugget.
There doesn’t appear to be sufficient desire in the Legislature to reprimand the governor. But there is bipartisan concern about the resistance the attorney general, Palin appointee Talis Colberg, posed to legislative subpoenas.
“One of the judiciary committees or both of the judiciary committees should maybe bring the AG in front of them and have some frank discussions about what his actions were toward the state employees, why the subpoenas weren’t complied with,” said Chenault, the Republican house speaker.
I’m going to ignore the first part where they say there doesn’t seem to be sufficient desire in the Legislature to reprimand the Governor. Because, despite the fact that many feel this way, I do not remain without hope. Alaskans can still weigh in on how they feel about this. The session hasn’t started yet. So now would be the time to write letters and post cards, make phone calls, send faxes, or whatever you feel like doing that can’t be deleted.
But, the fact that someone (and a Republican someone at that) is talking about holding Attorney General Talis Colberg accountable, is a good thing. If I were in the legislature, I wouldn’t take too kindly to being made impotent by some upstart AG either. The legislature has the power to do whatever it wants concerning Colberg, including impeachment. What’s it going to be?
But of course, somebody out there has to sound like an idiot. Enter Bob Lynn. Governor Palin said that it is certainly the right of the legislature to look into Colberg’s actions.
But Anchorage Republican Rep. Bob Lynn said it’s a bad idea to dredge it up.
“I think that’s history. We should stop looking in the rear-view mirror,” Lynn said. “I’ve got a news flash, the election is over.”
I’ve got a news flash. This all started well before the election, and months before Palin’s nomination. Insisting that state employees honor subpoenas put forth by the legislature is “history”? Um. So any crime committed in the past should be let go? Yes, no more of that rear-view mirror…From now on, let’s only hold the head of the Department of Law accountable for things in the future!
The mind reels. So, what’s the deal with Bob Lynn? You make the call.
(Read the entire article on the upcoming session in the Anchorage Daily News including Palin’s priorities, HERE.)

I got to vote first! ALL THE WAY FROM FL! Of course, it’s way later (pushing lunchtime) here than it is in AK. Also, warmer.
Makes me wonder what he has hidden that might float to the surface if a full on accountability takes place?
Yee haw Beth! Way to go!
I’m ALWAYS proud to vote for you!
Agh- gonna be REAAALLY late to work.
Quit reading, now and go to work self!!! no, no- don’t make me go…!
Good on Beth! She will need some real support on this one. The R’s are going to try and dump Troopergate as “water under the bridge”, while riling the rightwing in a big brouhaha over capital punishment.
It will take a concerted effort to keep the ADD bunch we call our Legislature on track. They are using this BS to distract from the fact they are incapable of attending the big issues: energy, education, infrastructure needs,….and a whole lotta less money to piss away.
I should have known Sarah “The Gash” Palin would use this whole crisis as nothing more than a reason HER in state gas line should be built.
Gash
Pure Gash
Great minds AKM, you know what they say about great minds.
Don’t count on any real help from Mike Chenault. He’ll be too busy pushing his Death Penalty™ bill. I’m embarrassed to admit that he’s my legislator.
Now that he’s House Speaker, Mike’s full of more bluff and braggadocio than ever.
But… there’s nothing there, there. If you look deep into his eyes, you see the back of his head.
Like a toad, Chenault will puff up in an effort to make himself larger, but in the end, he’ll flee, fearing being be eaten by the Ibis.
I’ve known Beth Kerttula for many years. As Minority Leader she can at least keep the issue alive. Politically speaking, Beth has a far bigger pair of cojones than most of the men who meander the halls of the Capitol.
Everyone that comes out publicly like Lynn supporting looking away while those that break the law get away with it, should be spot lighted. Keep it up, as well as supporting those that stand up for the law and do what is right. You rock AKM, and Beth I’m very proud of you, too. Lynn, not so much..
You forgot to but one other choice in your vote, AKM — corrupt, incompetent politician! That is what I would vote for in your survey. When are our legislators going to respond to the people? More important, when are they going to uphold the law? Justice? Honesty? Fairness? Do what they say they are going to do? Instead of making fools out of the American people? Why the big hoopla about breaking the law if no one is held accountable? Palin is just hoping this will go away. Then she can spend her time whining about the bloggers instead of helping rural Alaskans with their crisis. I’ll tell you what —- I’ll trade! — when I see her stepping up and giving them some REAL help — then I will forget about troopergate.
welll it’s obvious whose pocket dim wit bob lynn is in…….makes ya shake your head wondering how in heck he got into office huh
Here’s another letter from a native village- Kongiginak

IN WITH THE NEW OUT WITH THE OLD
One of the biggest priorities of our new administration will be to ‘clean up’ the Department of Justice, where justice has been blind in all the wrong ways. While looking forward is a pleasing romantic notion, it won’t be possible to restore the rule of law by simply letting ‘crooks off the hook’-especially not Government Law Officials.
So get with the program, Alaska politicians, it’s a bright new day.
and a big huge thank you to Beth Kerttula for standing up and being a real and honest elected official.
maybe other’s that WE put in office will get a clue…….hello?
OT, but a bit of fun….the gal who won the 1984 Miss Alaska contest (and made Sarah second) former Alaskan, Maryline Blackburn, will be performing at 2 Obama inaugural balls:

also, I’ll be EXPECTING an APOLOGY given to Walt…….I’d also like to see Palin removed and replaced by Walt………then AK will have a chance to see real leadership.
As a follow-up:
“I’ve got a news flash, the election is over.”
Hahahaha.
Someone needs to tell Sarah that. She won’t get off the National Stage.
Get the hook!
Good for Beth Kerttula! If they are not held accountable, what will stop them from doing it again?
Toad-y ! Toad-y ! Toad-y !
I’m wondering if the rear-view mirror thing is like the NY ‘fugettaboutit.’
Of course if the AK legislature ‘forgets’ about the AG blowing off the subpoenas, then they’re blowing off their own power and authority.
And if they care about their right to subpoena witnesses they might remember why they issued those subpoenas in the first place.. to get a complete accounting of troopergate.
Oh yeah , troopergate… funny how there were people who didn’t testify.
I wonder what they would have said…
To use the cookie jar analogy, when your kid disobeys, and you promise a consequence (no cookies after dinner) to teach them a lesson, they’ll learn a lesson whether you discipline them or not. The question then becomes, what lesson do you want them to learn…

where is the “all of the above” button?
“News flash”? What are we in, third grade? Geeze, what is wrong with those people up there.
I can’t wait to see her total destruction. It is coming. Fear not, Mudpups. And we will all be able to say that we were here from the start to watch it, brick by brick, come tumbling down, thanks to AKM.
Tomorrow’s Dr. Martin Luther King day. Thought these words of his appropriate.
“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. That is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.” Martin Luther King Jr. accepting Nobel Peace Prize.
Thanks, AKM for helping the unarmed truth and unconditional love get out.
I picked toady but think there should have been a sixth choice–all of the above.
Maybe all you Alaskans should not only e-mail, write and call Beth Kerttula but make a point of telling her that if she’s aiming her sights any higher on the political ladder that accountability for SP would be a good first step. SP ran on a clean up platform didn’t she?

Great column, I will be checking in on it now and again.
Being one of the many here from the lower 48 (CO), I am very interested in Alaska. Previously, my only interest was that there was a guy my older brother went to high school with who now lives in Anchorage. I can only imagine what their conversations were like during this election. AK guy was Repub and bro is rabid DEM.
SP should know better, however as we all know she’s lives in another universe. I have never been able to fathom the way that she thinks/communicates.

The elections is not over if the Republicans in your legislature refuse to address the findings of it’s OWN inquiry into Troopergate.
Why did they bother with the inquiry and spend close to $100,000. of THE Peoples monies if they were not interested in the results.
Does Alaska have that kind of money to throw away if people are staving and freezing in northern Alaska?
Why should Talis Coburn be punished if this inquiry means nothing?
Who did they think were calling the shots? If they do not believe it was Palin and the Republican Party then they are foolish unworthy of representing people.
Any inquiry into Mr. Coburn should include Whiney Blamehouse aka Sarah Palin, as she is the one who stated to all of Alaska and the US that she had nothing to hide.
What is she doing behind close doors if this was suppose to be an open investigation?
See Andrewhalcrow.com for some answers
Every Alaskan should be questioning the Legislature if they are going to waste the Peoples Monies. $100,000.00 could feed a lot of people.
If I was an Alsakan I would be seriously looking into what it would take to impeach her. In Illinois, Blago did not actually have to be found guilty of committing a crime, only proven to be incapable of carying out his responsibilites as governor. With one ethics violation already, and lots of other “gates”, Palin is ripe for the picking.
Beth is a Kertulla so you can expect her to do THE RIGHT THING! GO BETH!!
Note that Chenault is the guy who is doing the capital punishment bill. I’m surprised that he’s commenting on making Colberg accountable, but all to the good! Sorry if this is a repeat. I haven’t read all the posts yet.
hope.
If you’d actually like to ask Sarah a question, Glenn Beck is asking for help in coming up with some questions for the Gov tomorrow night…

hmmm….I wonder if you have any suggestions????
Yoo-hoo Talis! I hear a bus coming down the road with your name on it….
“One of the judiciary committees or both of the judiciary committees should maybe bring the AG in front of them and have some frank discussions about what his actions were toward the state employees, why the subpoenas weren’t complied with,”
“Palin didn’t object when asked about that, saying only that it’s “certainly their right to do so.”

I have a confession….I had to look up “toady” [shortened from toadeater, originally a quacks' assistant who pretended to eat toads, hence a flatterer]

So Bob Lynn wants everyone to believe Troopergate was a political thing instead of the investigation of major ethical lapses, et al?
Good thing Bob Lynn isn’t a policeman… he’d be a bit adverse to pursue and arrest a mugger because, well, once the mugging has occurred, it’s over. Dude needs a kick in the rear. Or a different occupation.
From Bob Lyon’s bragging blog where he lists bills he is introducing:
“Bill number not yet assigned: Allows members of the same family to work together in state employment, if one doesn’t supervise the other.”
Some folks call that nepotism.
Bob Lynn keeps removing my comments from his blog instead of answering them.
In a state with so many tough and resilient people, why are so many AK politicians such wimps and thin-skinners?
phillygram – the real question is whether Sarah Palin supervised Todd Palin in his investigation of Trooper Wooten, or was he allowed to be an unelected and unhired lone ranger? And, will that bill give someone like Todd Palin the authority to carry out official state/government functions despite not being a state employee?
They are preparing to throw Talis Colberg under the bus. If not for TrooperGate, then for the Rural Alaska Crisis. Or both. Regardless, the Palinistas will shove him into the headlights in hopes that the “liberal bloodlust for sacrificial lambs” will be satisfied.
Let them. Talis is in the headlights and the bus engines are revving up….but that’s no lamb, no deer, no moose in the headlights. Not even an innocent little possum, nor a cunning little raccoon.
After the bus hits him we will all know without a doubt what kind of animal Talis Colberg is, because if you drive by after the accident that he has become, your car will smell foul for days and that flattened black and white skidmark in the road will be there to remind us all for months to come…..SKUNK!
But it will be a hollow gesture. The bi-partisan, progressive, thinking public will not be mollified by this obvious ploy. La Sarah just can’t get away from the guy fast enough, she’s grown used to the smell of this particular perfume. She won’t be able to get the splatter off of her new wardrobe, and probably won’t even notice it’s there. Ever.
Until she’s gone.
Well, Bob Lynn, crimes were done. I can see your point about moving on to more important present dangers with the state of Alaska. SP has charmed you and fooled you……… Its time for you to get off the road if you don’t like the history behind you, or in this case SP in the rear view.
Old drivers often just narrow their field of view, and forget the past. Maybe its time for a history lesson to refresh your memory. SP’s actions and fraudulent behavior is not going away. I fear that a dishonest hypocrite will continue her unchallenged behavior.
Please stand up Alaska and support are Legislator’s that demand closure and peace of mind, on a self serving governor that was found guilty of ethical misconduct.
Snow ball get bigger when they start to roll. Keep it up Beth!
Send every one in the Leg. an e-mail letting them know that Micheal Moore is thinking about coming up to visit………..

@Saurkraut, because they outnumber us by a margin of like 5-1. I voted in the last election and for the first time this year it felt like my vote actually counted.
I find it very it very odd that he states “I’ve got a newsflash-the election is over”. When I first read that last night, it rather irritated me. Because in this very statement it appears as though he wants to suggest, that if we bring it up, we dont have a clue. But then, It made me think, that the only one obsessing about the election in Alaska is Gov. Palin.
I will take the time to write to Beth, to say thank you. The ont thing I noticed about all the “men” who defend our gov, in spite of it going against the law is that they all look old! Probably the only way to get the attention of someone young and so called “pretty”. They want us to refer to her as pretty, ok then “pretty stupid”. (sorry if I come across irritated).
Sorry for the typo’s, i meant to say “one” , my left finger doesnt have feeling in it , due to surgery a few years back.
I think that Bob Lynn is missing a key point in that history determines the future in this case.
Some quotes from my letters to our legislators regarding that:
“you have given our unethical Governor credibility and your behavior makes you an enabler of her propensity to lie to Alaskans with impunity.”
and from yet another letter
“If you, as a legislator, feel that any action that you may take to follow up on the recommendations of the Branchflower report will in any way impair your ability to work with the Governor to best serve Alaskans, then that is a failure on the part of the Governor as grievous as any action that she may have taken as outlined in the Branchflower report. In not following up on the Troopergate issue you are establishing a very dangerous precedent, that elected officials in high positions are not accountable, and you become every bit as unethical as the official in question.”
Wake up & smell the coffee Bob — statements like yours ensure that we can expect more of the same from the Gov in the future! Her actions in the past are a good indicator of what we can expect from her in the future should everyone roll over like you!
hahahah my only typo excuse is I go too fast and don’t always proof read! I miss the edit button!
I went to Bob Lynn’s site. I noticed that he was a Vietnam vet. Many of the legislators in the US are Vietman vets and so many of the voters formed their views during this period. As many of these legislators are replaced by persons who served in the Gulf War and in Iraq and Afghanistan and those tha have lived through, it causes me to wonder what change this will bring to your country. As an outsider, I do not appreciate what your views on this issue would be. Maybe this is irrelevant but war always forms the opinions of many.
Congratulations Beth. I cannot believe that someone in the AK Legislature finally had the nerve to say Troopergate should not go away! I know it is only one voice now but we all know how one voice can grow.
Michael Moore after the Princess Gov – God I love it!! Let’s all bombard him with email requests for him to get after her sorry ass. I would pay big bucks to see him interview her. But then, she is such a little coward she wouldn’t have the nerve for a real interview with hard questions as to why she is not doing her job as governor.
Love the Miss 1984 story!! BTW, who is representing the State of Alaska at the Inauguration?
Runner up again !! also. you betcha.
Thank you, Rep. Kertulla!! I certainly hope some of our other legislators will follow your lead and address these important breaches of integrity (and LAW) by our government officials!
Off topic, but a MUST to listen to, is Bob Garfield’s NPR piece regarding the Bush administration’s dealings with the media. Here’s a link: http://www.onthemedia.org/episodes/2009/01/16/segments/121348
@ SillyWabbit, I type fast but dont proofread, I treat it as though we are having a conversation. LOL.
Those are good points, and I am trying to figure on what to say. (SMR). DID You now, speaking of account”ability” that Obama is now addressing this issue. RIGHT NOW!.
check it out on huffington post. This is such an emotional time.
Coming from Alaska, where it is obvious that our voice accounts for very little. Seeing the change in the lower 48 gives me hope, that someday our elected officials will actually work for the people. I was never so happy that I almost cry. But all I can say is this! “THANK GOD< THAT HE ANSWERED MY PRAYER THAT WE ARE NOT FACED WITH ANOTHER ELECTION AND SP IS NOT IN ANY NATIONAL OFFICE!:” (Im not yelling, Im just excited and happy!).
The night before election, after 3 days of campaigning and calling people, I barely slept. The nightmare of when SP actually ended up in office and realizing she may end up in a VP role, well I dont have to explain much to say why I lost sleep” Thankfully though, my small voice was heard by my god, not the one SP serves.
I believe what you all see in the ADN, is a tip of the iceberg and there are alot more cases like this “troopergate” and leaders who just want to move on, without following the law. I can rest now! and, thank god the inauguration events are underway!

Beth Kertulla is the PERFECT representative – my own – yahoo! She’s so awesome and everyone knows it, and she has the respect of everyone who knows her if even they are of a different political mind set. Well… SP may be the only exception I can think of – but that’s only because SP doesn’t care who you are as a person, only whether “you’re with her, or against her”. Sound familiar? She’s such a shoe-in for that national idiot who we should be putting on an ice floe… (it’s a native tradition)
GO BETH!
I, for one, will be writing a letter to Beth, thanking her for sticking up for all of our RIGHTS! I am curious what the higher courts will have to say about ignoring the Subpoena’s.
Our elected officials need to take Colberg to task, due to the precendent he was setting. I can hear it now. I am sorry your honor, but I ignored your Subpoena because I thought it was o.k. after our AG for the State of Alaska advised our Government workers to ignore theirs. How can you hold me accountable and not them?
It’s never dull around this state with the Queen’s Administration.

I posted of Rep Lynn’s blog:
Dear Rep Bob Lynn:
I am an Alaskan resident of almost thirty years and I currently live in Juneau. I have lived in Kodiak and Seward in the past.
I emailed all of the legislators at the end of last year stating that I am not supportive of letting the investigation into Troopergate be put aside. You must be aware that many Alaskans have lost complete confidence in our governor and we wish for this to be restored in a meaningful way. I’m not partisan, nor is this a partisan request, but I am growing ever concerned that many of my state legislators are posturing and positioning in order to benefit themselves and their party instead of their constituents.
We are celebrating our 50th year of Alaska statehood, and I find it very sad & ironic that during this time where we should be examining our history, our goals, and finding pride in what our state has accomplished – that instead I receive, and read snarky replies to constituents from several of my legislators and have ended up with a governor who we cannot trust. Your “news flash” comment was rude and condescending and certainly not a fit comment from a state lawmaker!
Our legislature MUST help to restore our confidence in our governor, our AG, and several state commissioners who were party to Sarah Palin’s open quest for revenge. It’s the right thing to do for all involved. To ignore Troopergate is to assist in the inflation of its importance throughout the country and to put Alaska in a very bad light.
Nice try, I don’t buy it. Be a lawmaker, not a partisan bimbo.
I am now sending this as a letter via snail mail to Lynn with a copy to all of the others. I just have to figure out if I’m supposed to send to their home offices, or to the Capitol Bldg. Do any Alaskans know? I should be better at this since I live in Juneau, but I’m afraid I’m the one who just got involved in all this politicky stuff recently (thanks SP – you have burned up so MANY hours of my valuable time).
I guess I’ll leave the last sentence off or I’m just as snarky as them. Dammit.
I posted on Bob Lynn’s blog- there were 11 comments, all negative. Some were very reasoned- Julianne had two that I admired. I made mine non-snarky, in hopes it stays up awhile. I pointed out the Legislature had a duty to determine what the responsibility of the AG is: be the Governor’s attorney, or uphold the laws of Alaska. (I would have called him a numbnuts, which he is, but I never would have made it onto the blog)
Congrats Alaska on Kerttula- a fine legislator.
Hi Mudpuppies
Been lurking here for many months so I hope my considering myself a mudpuppy is not being too brazen on my part. I love you guys especially when you pull something off so awsome as with donating funds and supplies to the Native villages of rural Alaska. Too bad there wasn’t some sort of leader who was in charge of such things. Oh wait there is she just doesn’t care. Well anyway, way to go mudpuppies. I know this is a bit off topic but I found this little ditty on Utube called “Go away Sarah Palin” that I had to share with all. I knew you guys would enjoy it well at least us in the lower 48. So I apologize in advance to my Alaskan mudpuppies who are stuck with her for now.

Interesting, I had no trouble getting to Bob’s site earlier…now it’s like it is taking forever to load. hmmmmmm
Martha – If SP leaves before her “expires on” date because of yours and all other mudpuppies diligence…….then nary a second has been wasted……..
Shadow’s Heart (15:42:06) :
Thanks for your comments…and the referenced utube jingle is a classic!
Thank you so much, Shadow’s Heart. I needed that.
Murkowski has asked Bush to pardon Stevens….see on the forum for this news.
Shadow’s Heart – thanks – that was funny !! Come out to play more often……
Moose dancing through the slough. “We are one. We are one. We are one.”
And antler applause for Beth Kerttula.
Infrequent commenter here but frequent lurker. You guys are awesome! I was talking to my mom about the rural Alaska rescue effort and all and both of us got pretty emotional.
Anyway, I posted a letter on the idiot’s blog – mine was #16, so hope it stays. I suggested that he might want to rethink his position since if he thinks it’s okay not to prosecute lawbreakers he must be one himself…..
Even though you guys have a ton of work because of the presence of your lovely gov, this site is a positive beacon in a sea of depressing news everywhere.
Good work all!
Bob Lynn is my representative and he goes to my church. I wrote to him last year with regard to another matter. His response to me was a form letter asking me to clarify if I was a constituent or not. He stated that he helps everyone, but that he gives his constituents priority. I responded to his request, and I have yet to hear from him. I could have called him at home, or called his office, but I let the matter rest, as I decided to pursue a different avenue. But, I did however, let many people know how he treated me, his constituent.
I doubt anyone who writes to him will get a different response than I did, no matter how eloquent your letter may be.
I am amazed, given the Hillside’s demographics, that Bob hasn’t had competiton for his seat. What this says to me, is that people are apathetic. Nobody really cares and nobody wants to get involved. Who wants that kind of scrutinization and criticism?
I have been told that Sarah will skate through this legislative session, pulling strings and doing favors in order to get her priorities met. She is a world class manipulator and the people love her. Those of us who want justice served will be waiting a very long time.

The scope of scrutiny has radically changed. I don’t think she’ll skate. But, I’m from Georgia, so what do I know?
Lately, no matter where one looks it seems that when someone breaks the law and is also an elected government official we the ordinary people are told we need to get over it and let sleeping dogs lie. That the crime is a thing of the past and its time to look to the future. But, I keep wondering, in essence aren’t all crimes committed acts of the past? Isn’t it a requirement that a crime be committed and isn’t that inevitably past tense? No one is tried for murder while actually killing someone, so why do the concepts of ‘past’, ‘future’, or ‘present’ even matter.
Thanks for the earlier posting of Glen Beck’s request for questions for Sarah. Here is my first one:
What has your administration specifically been doing to address the hardships of the villages? At what point did you become aware of the seriousness of the issue?
I tried to be very polite and non threatening. Beck is very conservative, and I have seen him be a real jerk, BUT, I did see him very subdued and serious on O’R when he talked about wanting BO to succeed because we would all be better off. He was so thoughtful that it is the only clip from that episode that O’R didn’t post on his website!
I say flood Beck with serious questions we would like answered!
http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/20256/?ck=1
my next question is going to be
You have been critical of the “mainstream media.” How do you define mainstream media? Is Beck’s show MSM since Fox is available to the majority of people?
Help. Is this worded correctly?
SP question via Glen Beck:
Do state employees have the right to ignore legislative subpoenas with impunity? What role would the Attorney General play in situation?
new post
To Lance the Boil…I truly hope and pray that you are right. I am disgusted by the indifference I see coming from the legislators. “The past is the past.” “Let it go. ” yada yada yada
What about open and transparent government? What about accountablity?
All I see is a woman who surrounds herself with fawning adorers. People like Frank Bailey who should have been fired. People like Kris Perry who know too much. People like Bob Lynn who worship the ground she walks on. People like Greta Van Susteran who want to portray her as the intelligent and gracious Savior of the the GOP.
When will Sarah watch the Couric interview and LISTEN to the questions Katie asked her? When will she hear that Katie did not end her “news sources” question with “up there in Alaska”.
Sarah comes off as defensive everytime she gives an interview. Poor poor pitiful Sarah. She honestly believes herself to be on the same level of importance and significance as Hillary Clinton and Condi Rice. No wait, she’s above that level. ‘scuse my momentary lapse, it must be all this kool-aid.
SMR- Always appreciate your posts.
I can’t quite finish a couple letters I’m writing.
I think it is important for legislators to understand that any work done with Ms Palin at this point is tainted- no matter how important the work or well done it may or may not end up. It is tainted.
Pure and simple, it is tainted.
The disconnect between citizens and their HIRED politicians is large and will grow larger, as we have seen on the national scene if those HIRED politicians are unwilling to do some of the scullery work that goes with the job.
Being sure whether the gov operated as a gov must is part of the scullery work.
If the legislators can’t or won’t do their “other duties as required” we can’t trust them either… and their work is tainted.
@phillygram(10:49:55) :
From Bob Lyon’s bragging blog where he lists bills he is introducing:
“Bill number not yet assigned: Allows members of the same family to work together in state employment, if one doesn’t supervise the other.”
Some folks call that nepotism.
—
Not necessarily. If each person got hired on their own merits, it’s not nepotism. I know a couple of families who have several members working for the SOA. They work for different departments and have no official contact at work. (Their departments don’t interact.) I don’t see a conflict there.
Bob Lynn’s bill may cross the line. I’d have to read it before I render an opinion.
Not A Bob Lynn Fan
Apathy is a messed up thing and I blogged about it for many a year for 8 long years.
The nice thing is that people started waking up. If we can just keep the momentum of we the people going and vote every last one of them out of office….
If only.
@Martha Unalaska Yard Sign(15:38:54) :
—
Martha, this is the address for all state legislators during the session. Use the session address now, as they’ll gavel-in on Tuesday.
Name
Alaska State Legislature
State Capitol (MS 3100)
Juneau, AK 99801-1182
@ grewingk
Great – that’s what I thought would probably be the best! Thanks!
I miss the “pouch” days. The AG’s office used to be Pouch K. The governor’s was Pouch A – cool.
Coming soon to a Legislative Session Hearing near you…..ToadyGate & all their excuses…
@Martha Unalaska Yard Sign (15:38:54) :
You can also find each legislator’s indiv. office address here: http://w3.legis.state.ak.us/
If you go part way down the page to the section that says: “January 16th, 2009 – Legislative Contact information
Need to contact a legislator? Check out the publications below for the most up-to-date information.” there is a link to Address Labels. You can either print them up from that document using your printer or use it as a reference for handwriting addresses.
@grewingk (20:11:06) :
My guess is his bill is directed at family members working in the same department, not just for the SOA overall. It’s actually already the case that there are a number of families with more than one family member working in my dept., but they’re in diff. divisions.
“News flash,the election is over.”
I’ve got a news flash Bob Lynn, elected officials are NOT above the law!
Do you really think Glen Beck is going to ask her any hardball questions?
I don’t
They will all be softball questions…like..
“What do you think of all the MSM, questions about your wardrobe on the campaign?
It’s going to be one big WHINE session for Sarah.
I believe legislators like Doogan and Lynn won’t address any concern if they feel the concerns are coming from left wing radicals. The right wing conservatives are crazier, but for the most part they are republicans, therefore they are forgiven for their momentary lapses of vitriolic spewage. Legislators need to know that middle of the road voters are just as concerned about the ethics violations that seem to be pouring out of the Governor’s office like water over a dam. What else is going on behind that dam?
I’m not a “hater” (I don’t even know what that means. I have never hated any politician, I’ve just agreed with one and disagreed with the other. Isn’t that the beauty of a Democracy?) I don’t flood legislators voicemail, email and regular mail with “Listen to me” messages. I just go to fundraisers, ask a few specific questions and either write a check for the candidate or leave knowing a little more about the person I won’t be voting for. On occasion I will make contact, but when I am rebuffed (as was in the case with Bob Lynn last summer) I remind the legislator of his role as my elected representative.
After seeing Bob Lynn fawn all over Governor Cupcake, I realized that he won’t listen to me or any other of his constituents who want the Branchflower report addressed. He does not represent this district at all. All he does is promote his own personal agenda. His blog is completely self centered. He even posted (boasted) about his own personal appearances in the Rose Bowl parade when he was but a lad.
“News flash, the election is over.”…Then Sarah should have plenty of time to answer to the Legislature in between interviews, messages to People mag and trips to Nordy’s…
