Claman is In. Pie Anyone?
26 01 2009In the least shocking announcement of the day, Acting Mayor Matt Claman will announce his candidacy for Mayor of Anchorage this afternoon. For months he’s been saying, “I haven’t decided.” “My wife and I are talking seriously about it.” Bla bla bla. And now he’s done it.
You know how you have a “herd” of caribou, a “pod” of whales, a “gaggle” of geese? Well, we now officially have an “embarrassment” of viable progressives candidates running for mayor.
Every progressive I’ve talked to, thought the mayoral pie was already sliced too thin on the progressive side, and now Acting Mayor Claman has wrestled us to the ground, ripped the pie cutter out of our collective clenched fist, and whacked those pieces a little thinner.
I’m going to have to cut this post short, so I can excuse myself and have a little petulant foot-stomping tantrum. Why? I refer you to a previous post HERE and another one HERE.

May I be the first to congratulate Acting Mayor Claman on his bone-headed move. Perhaps he would like a serving of mince(d) meat pie? Or maybe (not so) humble pie? No? How about a slice of fruit cake?
*grumble*grumble* wandering off to the kitchen to find a slice of Colorado peach(y) pie for myself…I’ll share with you, AKM, and some of the other fine candidates…

sigh. Welcome to the Ralph Nader school of political self-centeredness.

Heh heh…very funny. Hmm…are you suggesting he be served a slice of mile high ego pie? I’ll have to check on the ingredients, to see if I can whip up one just for Claman-

What a cluster of campaigners

That particular pie looks like it may be a Pepto Bismol Pie…Alaskans may need some of that if their politicians keep up their shenanigans.
I just got home from my first Parent/Teacher Conference…come to think of it, I could use some of that pie myself!
ROFL! Sold! The Pepto Bismol pie will get a new caption.

Heh heh..very funny, too.
Pepto pie? Is that recipe included in the Mudflats cookbook?

Somebody needs to round up all the progressive candidates and have a “come on you guys, two shortest straws drawn have to bow out until next time” meeting. Either that or start a special Ralph Nader version of moose nugget awards.

Claman is nuts. He is now forever tied to the budget shortfall and they won’t blame Begich, they will blame Claman. He must be a glutton for punishment. And, I think it is more than just a little sleazy for him to say he is undecided when it is obvious by his actions that he is not. Everyone says what a good guy he is. I don’t know, right now he looks stupid.

Stomp, stomp…munch, munch…feel better?
Blech!!!….Sounds more like a hot, steaming pie of something no one wants a bite out of at this moment. I think all would be wise to go back to the kitchen and start over….

Now that my cold is going away I have all this excess energy and I’m getting frustrated that the news and blogs aren’t turning out 10 juicy stories each for every day including weekends. AKM is the most prolific at least.

Love the new caption, AKM! I’ll skip my portion of the pie for now, though. Sarah can have mine. (I’m hoping she’ll need it!)

Whoa, who saw that coming? :-/ I guess Claan felt there just weren’t enough progressives running to split the vote enough to make sure that Sullivan gets elected. Maybe he’s a closet Republican. I still think Walt Monegan should hold off and run for Gov. in 2010, but that’s just me.
I’d feel worse for you Anchoragites except that I live in the valley and we have enough of our own problems also, too, and that this is the home of Sarah and her cronies, dontcha’ know. Misery loves company! Just kidding

Does he really think people will trust him now? He and Selkregg both voted to extend the Union contracts without ever reading them. He’s the reason we have a 17 million dollar shortfall. Sheesh…….
