Tiptoeing Through the Muck of Alaskan Politics

Conyers Subpoenas Rove….and it’s a Whole New Game.

Well, he’s done it again, and maybe this time it will stick.

John Conyers, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee has subpoenaed Karl Rove to testify before Congress regarding the politicization of the Justice Department, including not only the firing of U.S. Attorneys, but the prosecution of former Alabama Governor, Don Siegelman.

Rove has previously refused to appear in response to a Judiciary Committee subpoena, alleging that former presidential advisers cannot be compelled to testify before Congress.  The “absolute immunity” position was supported by President Bush at the time, but it has been roundly rejected by U.S. District Judge John Bates. President Obama has previously dismissed the claim as “completely misguided.”

Isn’t it nice to have a former constitutional law professor in the White House?

“I have said many times that I will carry this investigation forward to its conclusion, whether in Congress or in court, and today’s action is an important step along the way,” said Mr. Conyers.  Noting that the change in administration may impact the legal arguments available to Mr. Rove in this long-running dispute, Mr. Conyers added “Change has come to Washington, and I hope Karl Rove is ready for it.  After two years of stonewalling, it’s time for him to talk.”

Get a Sharpie and circle your calendar for February 2, at 10am.  That’s when he’s scheduled to appear.

Knock, knock, knock! (rapping on the collective doors of the offices of the Alaska State Legislature)  Hellooooo!  Anyone home?  (Peering inside office)  See, everyone?  It’s OK to think there’s something horribly horribly wrong with ignoring subpoenas.  So, you don’t need to feel bad about, you know, enforcing that.  I mean, what’s good for Karl Rove is certainly good enough for Todd Palin and those seven state employees that never showed, right?  So go ahead and talk amongst yourselves.

We now return to our scheduled festivities!  Here’s the .pdf, suitable for framing:

OK you brave mudpuppies who go to Team Sarah, conservative blogs and the like…is there ever any humor over there? Back at election time (boy that sounds like a long time ago) was the only time I tried to engage the twits and meanies in various blogs and commenting sections. One thing stood out to me – THERE WAS NO HUMOR. Are there any funny conservative TV shows like Jon Stewart?

I am only a liberal you know because it’s fun. You can be witty and laugh at the same time! You can be crying in your beer (8 yrs of Bush, Cheney & Rove) and STILL make jokes! Have faith and keep fighting to expose her Alaska exploits. She will always have a following of idiots. The ones who refuse to hear a single negative thing about the Queen. But she leaves a trail of disgruntled former associates and employees and has the entire progressive blogosphere working to expose her grifting ways.
Alaskans need to start having in-your-face accountability rallies in Juneau, Anchorage, and Wasilla (on the road she travels to work), with lots of media coverage. Blogging is not enough. I guess since her secretary asked AML if there were awards for her to stop by and present, she was planning to make a small detour on her way to the airport to board the plane for DC.
Can one of you Alaskans tell me if the Queen is in Anchorage or Juneau this week?

from the Sarahpac.com page: “Gov. Palin has fought for reform and transparency in government. ”

Who wrote this for her, Karl Rove? The lack of integrity in that statement is transparent. (maybe that’s what she meant)

    From Andrew Halcro’s blog:

“When asked why, the caller said the governor might be able to swing by and hand out an award. When asked by the AML why the governor had time to come by and hand out an award but yet didnt have time to come by and talk about energy and transportation issues, the secretary didn’t have an answer.”

Holy Smokes! This is truly classsic. Does this woman absolutely have no shame? What a phony and a fraud.

I am now addicted to Mudflats! I try to check in daily to keep up with the issues raised, to follow the sad and ugly situation SP has created for Alaska’s people, wolves, polar bears, etc. I enjoy the fighting spirit evidenced daily by AKM and bloggers which inspires me particularly that of Crystalwolf and Sauerkraut. I have contacted CREW to request its investigators pay close attention to all SP’s ethical sidesteps. Burned into my memory are two photos which spur me on: a dead wolf draped over a plane’s landing gear’ and SP’s bear couch cover. Hang in there, Crystalwolf: Aslan is near.

I’m watching the Blago hearings… At least the so-called chicago political machine has the integrity to call out a rouge governor. And they know when to toss out a stinky corpse.

Watching Blago make his rounds yesterday, I could swear I saw Palin’s face superimposed on his.

I didn’t mean to correct you at all – and no way were you trollish! It was such a creepy (and Rovish) quote that I had to look it up myself. So… I guess the tactics that we newbies (not previously involved in politics) attributed to Karl Rove have actually been a tool of the oppressors for quite some time. That just creeped me out!

Well, if they could deep freeze her ’til 2012, she might have a teensy, eensy, little chance. Unfortunately for Sarah she’s going to have to continue to pretend to be the governor of the Great State of Alaska, and we all know how well that’s going for her!

Crystalwolf – I notice Gary over at examiner.com hasn’t yet answered your questions. I guess he wore himself out with his Palin-spin. It sure did sound good… but just a few hours surfing the Google will provide truth-seekers with the “rest of the story” as Paul Harvey used to say.

I just posted at examiner too, for all the good it probably won’t do. But I just couldn’t let “Sharon” have the last word.

Isn’t there a Sharon on SP’s staff? Wonder if it’s her? She seems to have some pretty detailed information about things up there, or at least copies and pastes from all the best pro-Palin sources (I use the term “best” loosely).
