Mudstock VI – Washington D.C.
26 01 2009Sounds like Mudstock VI in our nation’s capitol on inauguration eve was a great success! Here’s the recap from Deep Blue, and some wonderful pictures!

Suzy (M), prisonernumbersix (U), PGinMaryland (D), Lani formerly Bash Budweiser (S), bornokaythefirsttime (TO), fawnskin hussein mudpuppy (C), futurexpat? (K), Deep Blue's son (V), and Deep Blue (I). These are the same letters used for SoCal Mudstock (AKA Mudstock IV) - thanks, fawnskin!
Yes, the wonderful Mudflatter holding the “C” was our hostess for Mudstock IV in Southern California, and brought the letters all the way to D.C.! Wow! She’s also the brave warrior who battled food poisoning and won, and got stuck in the dreaded “Purple Ticket Tunnel” during the inauguration and…..well…. she needs some kind of medal, that’s all I can say.
So, here’s the story from Deep Blue, our fabulous hostess for Mudstock VI, with photos from Fawnskin!
*************************************************
Although things were kind of touch-and-go with DC area transportation over the Inauguration weekend, most of the mudpuppies who planned to attend Mudstock made it safe and sound.
We were delighted to meet each other in person and share stories of how we landed at Mudflats. Among the attendees were fawnskin, Lani, futurexpat?, bornokaythefirsttime, prisonernumbersix, PG in Maryland, and Suzy, as well as various family members and friends.
We mostly spent the time chatting and enjoying drinks and snacks by the fire on what was a very cold day for the DC area. We also held a raffle with three great prizes to raise money to help rural Alaskans. We managed to raise $200, which we hope will help keep some folks warm way up north.
It was wonderful to come together and celebrate our shared connections, regarding both Mudflats and our support for President Obama. We are also proud that Mudstock VI will become a part of Mudflats history!

Fawnskin – you survived to tell all – and with a smile and humor. Hey, you guys aren’t very anonymous now with pictures and all – and where the heck are your PJs?
Thank you for sharing and the letters are really cool!

@Fawnskin: Those letters look awful familiar. Oh, yeah! We had them at the Southern California Mudstock IV. How wonderful! What beautiful Mudpuppies. I know you guys had a wonderful time because Fawnskin is an awesome hostess.

Very clever how you can reverse the IV and get VI and the NY Mudstock was V!

It’s great to see all of you. You look happy and warm in those pictures. Fawnskin, I’m glad you survived the food poisoning. So, getting stuck in the purple tunnel – does that mean that you were one of those who didn’t make it inside to see anything?
Thanks for sharing the pics.

Thanks for all the kind comments. We really had a wonderful time. I encourage everyone to come over to the forum and find your local mudpuppies for future mudstocks – it’s really a special experience to common together in person with that shared bond.

Yanno… just thinking out loud, but… if McCain only picked Sarah Palin based on looks (comeon, what else did she offer that sorry ticket?), then why didn’t he up the bar and chose a good looker like… fawnskin or deep blue or Lani? Are the mudpuppies too educated for McCain?
Or too good looking?

Great to see all of you!
Fawnskin–you look terrific! I am sorry about the food poisnoning and the tunnel fiasco–I know you were looking forward to the inauguration. bornokaythefirsttime–love that name!
And Cindy must have put the kibosh on no competing blonds, so that might be why McCain picked Palin.

@mwThatOne:
Mudstock V was the Anchorage one. It worked out nicely for us that the DC gathering used the same letters as the SoCal one, since Fawnskin was at both!
