Sarah Palin and the Alfalfa Club.
27 01 2009Here’s the latest news from our globe trotting Gov.
Next month, Palin will address a gathering of influential conservatives in Washington but before then, the big date in her diary is Saturday’s Alfalfa club dinner in Washington. The event is an invitation-only occasion for some of the most powerful men and women in America.
Usually the president himself speaks at the dinner, though the highlight for many guests is the mock nomination of a future presidential candidate.
But wait, there’s more!
[The Alfalfa Club] is an exclusive Washington, D.C. club for the rich and powerful, founded in 1913. Its sole purpose is to hold an annual banquet each January honoring the birthday of General Robert E. Lee. There are approximately 200 members. Each member is eligible to bring up to two guests to the $200-a-plate dinner. The club always serves filet mignon and lobster.
No press coverage is allowed inside the banquet hall and the proceedings are ostensibly secret, but the Washington newspapers always seem to get a fairly detailed blow-by-blow description anyway. Regardless, the congenial atmosphere lends itself to politically-incorrect humor. In essence the event is just another roast, providing one more showcase for Washington bigwigs to unveil their professionally-written jokes.
One of the highlights of the evening will be a mock presidential nomination, and acceptance speech by the pretend winner. Previous Alfalfa nominees have been Prescott Bush, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, John McCain and Ted Stevens. So far, I’m not impressed with the Alfalfa Club. Guess we’ll have to wait and see if Palin is “Miss Alfalfa 2009″.
So, after all that, my question is, will Kris Perry or Bill McAllister be tagging along to join Sarah and Todd for surf & turf? Amid the flurry of new ethics charges against her administration, it will be interesting to see how the personnel, and finances all pan out for this little shindig at the Alfalfa Club. Rumor has it she’ll also tack on some time to attend the RNC Winter Meeting. Maybe it will all be paid for by SarahPAC!
I think it’s time to dust off those “Where’s Sarah?” buttons. The legislature has worn them before to acknowledge Palin’s Juneau-phobia. And yes, both the Alfalfa/RNC trip and the CPAC trip will happen during the 90 day Legislative session.
But if those who voted in the poll in the previous thread are right, then Sarah doesn’t have to worry one whit about what the Legislature, or you and I think, or what engagements she decides not to attend. If Palin goes straight from Governor, to author, to candidate, that solves all her problems.
(”Where’s Sarah?” buttons are available individually or in bulk at The Mudflats Shop! Two styles available to complement any wardrobe.)

Who’s paying for this trip ? That’s what I want to know.
Maybe she’ll bring back a ‘doggie bag’ and ship it to Emmonak.

If McCain is at the dinner……..it’s because he wants to get in her panties. I bet the 2 last bidders on the shoes were Rush and Beck. Either one of those perverts would sniff and caress the shoes and……..

As far as who invited SP to the dinner, Cindy Adams of the New York Post is the one who broke the story yesterday and said it was a “rich GOPnik”. Doesn’t sound how she would have described McCain. But who knows? On her blog, Greta Van Sus. said that Ms. Adams out scooped everyone on this. Speaking of Greta-Before Christmas, SP called in to her tv show and as she was signing off said “Merry Christmas Greta!” Does this nitwit not know that Greta is a scientologist? Classic!

When she gets back from this “open door” , oil will be at $72. Its Gods will.

OT, sorry… but wow.
Holy cow… On this site (that someone posted, can’t remember who, sorry):

Colin Powell is listed as a “member of John McCain 2008″ group. I had no idea just *how* incredible his endorsement truly was. Here it is, just for the record. http://www.nndb.com/people/649/000022583/

$2,000 for Sarah’s shoes is just slightly less than half what the tissue that Scarlett Johannsen blew her nose in got on Ebay. Of course she reprtedly caught the cold from Samuel Jackson.

Looks like the only people who’ve ever successfully said no to Sarah are her McCain campaign “handlers”. And maybe Katie C.

My hope is with the intelligent people in place in this administration it will set the bar so high that SP is toast before she gets a run off the ground. Look at that Hillary moving along, apparently planning to remain in lockstep with Obama’s “get it done right, and now” approach. She is the real female model, so far.
Anyone know if there are reporting rules or legal ways to find out what the PAC’s are bringing in? We need action and vigilance ongoing to thwart this idiot’s future plans. Just tell us what to do, if anyone has some more good ideas. Appreciate those already in this comment section.
The Republicans have been so helpful for the past few years; Minnesota wide stance, ” I can see Russia from my house” qualifying me for foreign experience, per SP, Duke Cunningham, Libby, Cheney and Bush = we tortured and Gonzales said it was okay, etc. We just need them to keep it up!

How about a Sarah Palin Rod Blagojevich ticket–appeals to the bi-partisan emphasis in DC now, brings great hair to the ticket in an effort to show the Republican Party’s willingness to nominate a woman. Questions is, who will be Pres and who VP? Maybe they could play tic, tac, toe, winner is VP

Since it seems that Sarah Palin is judging her popularity based on number of friends on her Facebook page, we that aren’t her friends can now join a Facebook group and let the world know how we feel. If you currently have a Facebook account you can join this group and help the numbers speak for themselves at:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=27408324140
Once you go to the group link above you can login to your facebook account and click the “join this group” button under Sarah’s photo.
If you don’t have an account already you can go to
http://www.facebook.com
and create a new account and then sign up with the group using the first link above.
Since keeping score really seems to matter to Sarah, let’s all join this group and see if we can get more people signed up that DON’T support her.

I can’t wait for the media to get the leak about how Palin’s McCain team up here in Alaska offered the personnel board political favors in exchange for favorable treatment. The timing of the leak will be most interesting.

Just a human in ak: Hmmmm! interesting, tell us more? Links?

Sorry if I missed it, but does anybody know why SarahPAC has a Virginia address and who’s picking up the mail there?
Palin’s history suggests she’s well versed in the crony system, starting with some District 14 Republicans who don’t play fair when it comes to Valley politics. (Despite her being a self-proclaimed reformer, I see the ethically challenged like Ruedrich and the ugly segment of the local Repubs are all still in place.) I wonder who her new east coast cronies are? Surely McCain has learned his lesson after she cost him the election?

Wonder what trouble maker invited her in on his 2 guest pass. If I were Obama and knew she wanted to come to talk to me, I would send my regrets. Not only that, if she is nominated by these republicans members for their mock candidate, it would be really ridiculous to be there as the actual winner of the presidency with this very pushy woman..
I don’t think its funny at all.

Good luck to Palin raising money for her PAC with this kind of nonsense in the news.
