Sarah Palin LIED! And We All Feel Really Shocked and Betrayed.

2 02 2009

scream

Sarah Palin LIED.  It’s true.  I’m shocked, SHOCKED I say.  I know….(patting the back of your hand).  We all feel very betrayed, and stunned by this sudden change in character.  We thought we could trust her, but ooohhhhh we were so naive.  (shakes head and dabs eyes with hanky)

Here’s the whole sad story.

Seems like the RNC invited the Governor to attend their Winter Retreat in Washington, D.C. this past weekend.  Palin politely refused for a very good reason.  You see, the Alaska State Legislature meets for only 90 days a year.  That’s a mere 90 days to get a whole lot of work done.  It used to be that the session was 120 days long, but Alaska voters felt that this was allowing the Legislature too much time to accomplish the business of the state, so they cut out 30 days.

This means that noses go to the grindstone, shoulders go to the wheel, and other body parts go to the wall to get things accomplished in a very limited window of time.  So, Sarah Palin can’t just go traipsing all over the country for any old reason, even if it’s the RNC’s Winter Retreat.  It’s natural that they would want a nice inspirational speech from their recent Vice Presidential nominee, but they’re just going to have to understand that, and she told them so.  She does have her priorities.

Retreat organizers tell ABC News that Palin politely declined, giving a perfectly understandable reason.  According to the Congressional Institute, which hosted the conference, Palin said she simply could not make it to the retreat because pressing state business made it impossible for her to leave Alaska this weekend.

And what was this pressing business that kept her in the state?  Perhaps it was dealing with budget issues, or meeting with legislators, or mayors.  Perhaps she traveled to Emmonak, or another remote village whose residents are going cold and hungry this winter after the collapse of the Bristol Bay salmon fishery.  Perhaps she just wanted to be around in case the volcanic Mt. Redoubt blew its stack and dumped ash on Alaska’s biggest city.  There are just so many things….what could it be?

Waaaaait a minute,”  I hear you say as a little light bulb goes off over your head.  “I remember reading about her attending some swanky dinner party in Washington D.C. on Friday night at the home of a GOP fundraiser.  And she was filmed with Meghan Stapleton and that very same fundraiser, Fred Malek, arriving at the even swankier Alfalfa Club dinner on Saturday!”

Well, there’s no pulling one over on you, is there!  Apparently Palin assumed that the RNC just wouldn’t notice that their VP nominee was actually IN Washington D.C. when she told them she couldn’t possibly leave the state due to pressing business.  Ruh-roh.

“She lied to us!” wailed one Republican at the retreat.

While this bald-faced lie apparently shocked and surprised some Republicans who obviously haven’t been paying very close attention to their adorable new “icon”, others were not particularly affected by Palin’s lie or by her  non-attendance at the event.

Quoth  House Republican Leader John Boehner, “Whatever.”

A large part of Sarah’s “base” is clueless Republican women. They don’t know anything about our country or the world, so they don’t know and/or don’t care when Sarah lies about political things. But they know etiquette, and Sarah committed an etiquette lie. THAT will anger them greatly. It’s like telling your best friend you can’t come to her 16th birthday party because you have to study and then going on a date with the prom king instead. The women of her base are clueless about things that matter, but when it comes to etiquette, they won’t be fooled. That kind of lie is unacceptable to them.

I went to the site and looked at the two pictures (on sidebar) and I now believe that baby Trig is indeed the governor’s grandson. The date on one of the pictures has been a problem; but the other is confirmed. But Piper is in both of the pictures, and there is no way a child looks much, much younger in a picture that is supposed to be taken two months later. I cannot believe my eyes, so I would like some feedback from you guys. Are my eyes playing tricks on me? Thanks!

No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. That photo with Bristol in the green top absolutely could be taken a little over 10 months after the 12-4-06 Inauguration photo. It makes perfect sense since all the kids look older.

Btw, I think Audrey (Palin Deception) has made some mistakes with the date (2006) for the “green Bristol” photo because she is NOT using the 12-4-06 Inauguration photo as a reference. I wonder if she is familiar with it? It all makes sense now and Palin Peyton Place has really put the pieces together!

    Kali Says:

I am as much on board with this Babygate issue as anyone, and have followed the Palin Deception blog almost from its inception. The thing I have always admired the most about that site is its dedication to flushing out the facts as best can be done, even when the answer does not suit what most of us think happened.

To that end, I have to say that I think Bear is almost certainly incorrect about the date of the green sweater picture. I have read previously that the picture was taken during Palin’s campaign for governor. Sitting at the computer this morning, I came up with the following…if you look at Sarah’s & Todd’s clothing, it appears that the “incriminating” photo was very likely taken on the same date as this one:

    http://dwb.adn.com/news/politics/story/8679537p-8574757c.html

…which was published in the ADN in March of 2007, with the photo dated as from October of 2006. It’s the same locale (their home on Lake Lucille), and the time of day/year and the weather look identical.

In addition, a google websearch shows the Zimbio website has a comment that references the photo of the family outdoors in apparently identical clothing–the one that Audrey shows on her main site under Bristol preg pics (not the blog). I don’t want to post a link to it, because I don’t want my comment to get lost in the black hole! :) But Google the terms Zimbio+Bristol+green+sweater and it should be the first result that pops up. From there, go to the first reader comment by ackk. While the picture has actually been taken down from the linked ADN article, the date on the story is clearly October 2006, which fits in with the other evidence we have.

I am emailing Audrey, because her site is showing the date of original publication as October 23, 2007, while the Zimbio link tracks back to that ADN article as being from October, 23 2006.

I am not a blogger or a researcher by trade, yet it took me all of an hour to come up with my own results that I think corroborate what Audrey has on Palin Deception. I believe that all the bloggers working on this issue have something to contribute, but IMHO, over the months I’ve seen that not everyone spends the same amount of time on the details, and some get way too caught up in the sensationalism of the whole thing. Opinions expressed on personal blogs are one thing, but failing to do the research only harms the overall purpose, I think, which is to show that SP appears to constantly manipulate her family, the Alaskan media, and the Republican party (among others!).

I know that the date has been 10-23-06…but, putting that picture along side the one from December 06 at the inaugeration which is firm date, the age of the children tell the truth. The 10-23-06 would be a wrong date; 10-23-07 would explain why all the children look, oh 10 months older than the 12-06 picture. The faces of the children cannot be explained away.

Not sure that your theory would hold much water in this state. Alaskans often wear campaign buttons LONG after the applicable election is over. I once saw Robin Taylor for Representative signs up in Wrangell (his home town) after he’d already been a Senator for more than one (4-year) term, so the signs were prob. at least 10 years old and still on display.

    Kali Says:

anon blogger, you’re making me go there, and after I said I wouldn’t!

You are perfectly entitled to your opinion…and that’s just what your comment is. My opinion is that, having a number of children under the age of ten, I would often (though not always) be hard-pressed to discern a noticeable difference in my kids’ pictures with only ten months separating each photo. This is especially true if, for example, one was standing in one shot and then sitting in the next (like Piper). Or if one had hair down in one pic and then up in the next (like Piper and Willow).

My opinion aside, the overwhelming evidence points to a picture taken in October 2006. Could I be wrong? Sure. But no one has presented any information that would make me seriously consider another possibility. I think this photo is a dead end. (Opinion–but fact-based, I think!).

Now…I think AKMuckraker set up a forum thread specifically for this purpose. I apologize again for steering this thread off-course, and any other responses I make will go in the appropriate venue. :)

In an interview during the last month of her campaign, Sarah Palin said her husband would quit his job if she were elected. Asked about that election night, Todd Palin was much less definite, saying he hoped to work something out with BP, for whom he has worked at since 1989.

Todd Palin said his annual wages came to something in the neighborhood of $100,000. Sarah Palin makes $125,000 a year as Alaska’s governor.

OK, somehow my comment disappeared the first time I posted it, so I’ll try again.

Your theory about the photo in which TP is wearing a campaign button meaning that it had to have been taken in 2006 doesn’t prob. hold much water here. Alaskan very often wear campaign buttons/keep campaign signs up WAY after the applicable campaign is over. I once saw Robin Taylor for State Representative signs still up in Wrangell after he’d been in the State Senate for at least one 4-year term; the signs were prob. at least 10 years old and were still on display.

Your theory on the timing of the photo based on the campaign pin prob. won’t hold much water in this state. Alaskans very often wear campaign buttons/keep campaign signs up WAY after the applicable election is over. I once saw Robin Taylor for State Representative signs up in Wrangell after he had served at least one, full, 4-year State Senate term, meaning the signs had been up for 6-10 years at a minimum.

Kali, you need to look more closely at the 12-4-06 Palin Inauguration family photo

and compare it to the “green Bristol” photo. All the kids look older in the “green Bristol” pic. Marc Lester also took other 10-23-07 family photos and the clothes match for that 2007 date.

Look at Bristol, come on, she looks much different – older and bigger – than the 2006 Inauguration photo so it really could be from that Fall 2007 Marc Lester photo shoot. Kids do not normally get smaller when they get older!

Bear…have you joined the Mudflats Forum? This should really be taken up in there. I would be happy to discuss this even further in there.

I have looked at both photos extensively. I believe all of those Lester photos were taken in October of 2006. You are not showing me anything that leads me to think otherwise. I do not see that Bristol looks older in the green sweater pic. Different does not mean older.

In fact, I can turn around and use my own personal example, and say that I have a sorta-niece (friend of the family), who at age 13/14 was stocky. Not overweight, just stocky. Had a little tummy like so many girls of that age do. In the space of about 18 months, she grew to be nearly six feet tall and now at age 17, she looks like a Nordic goddess…and good on her, because some of the cattier members of the family were none too kind about her body shape. Like teenage girls don’t have enough to worry about.
