Palin Endorses Republican Governor Rick Perry. Heyyy…Isn’t that Partisan?
3 02 2009First, Sarah Palin told a big fat lie to the GOP when she said she couldn’t attend their Winter Retreat because of “pressing business in Alaska.” In reality, she was right there in DC on that weekend, hobnobbing with the uber elite at the Alfalfa dinner, and at the home of GOP fundraiser and Bush family buddy Fred Malek.
When asked why she lied, Palin spokesman Bill McAllister explained that Palin was avoiding “partisan” politics. No, that didn’t answer the “why did she lie?” question, but it threw the idea out there that Palin doesn’t want to get involved in partisan issues. We were asked to believe that Palin was there at the swanky soirees to talk all about Alaska, and push Alaskan issues to the powers that be. We are NOT supposed to be thinking that Palin has her sights set on 2012 and the presidential nomination and is hanging out with elite GOPers who could help her campaign. We are NOT supposed to be thinking, “Hey, Governor! We’re over here!” (waving from the 49th state) “Helloooooo! Can we have a minute of your time, please? You know…Legislative session in progress?”
And now this. News in this morning that the “non-partisan” commitment lasted….oh, let’s see….(looks at watch)…less than 3 days.
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has endorsed [Republican Texas Governor] Rick Perry for re-election, calling him the “true conservative” in a primary election showdown with fellow Republican Kay Bailey Hutchison. [snip]
In a letter to “Texas Republican women” distributed by the Perry campaign, Palin touts the Texas governor’s conservative credentials.
“He walks the walk of a true conservative. And he sticks by his guns – and you know how I feel about guns,” she said.
(Mental visualization of Tina Fey in red suit shooting ‘finger guns’ in the air)
Palin cited one of the Perry campaign’s top issues – opposition to federal financial bailouts. And she singled out Perry’s opposition to abortion rights.
Toss in a little bit of “drill baby, drill” and you have the perfect recipe for conservative candy, which Perry and Palin will dangle in front of the voting booth, in the hopes conservatives will flock to the primaries in large numbers, while apathetic moderates will stay home.
And I had to go check, but yes, it was Governor Rick Perry himself who was shuffling around, bouncing on the balls of his feet, and rolling his eyes behind Sarah Palin’s back when she spoke at the Republican Governor’s Conference. He even went so far as to physically move her around like a ragdoll, and cut off questions when it was obvious that she was doing nothing but embarrassing herself, and by association all Republican Governors. Guess he’ll put up with her if he thinks it’ll get him votes.
If he does win, it will be all because of Sarah, of course. Just ask Saxby Chambliss. If moderate Republicans and Texas Democrats want to keep another big shiny feather out of Sarah Palin’s cap, they’d best make it out on primary day.

Palin might want to start circling the musk ox, instead of running around endorsing other politicians; Murkowski is adjusting her persona:

Alaskans are some of the best people I’ve met in this life. I’m sorry you have to suffer this dim bulb.

I love your numbers, but the last 20 years of election polls certainly don’t bear them out.
I think Palin’s stances on gun control, abortion and certainly gay marriage bring the bright REDS out of the cracks under the counter.
where are the commies when they need them?

Yeah….numbers are nice but getting the vote out is better.
There has been so much trumpeting of the headline about “A Majority of Repubs Want a Palin Type leader…etc.” I felt compelled to put that so-called “majority” where it properly belongs.
Considering that 65-68% of the Repubs were gung-ho for Palin on a ticket in 2012 ( just after the election), the currently polled 55% is quite a come down. If she keeps making a fool of herself, I suspect those numbers will continue to decline.
February 3rd, 2009 at 3:25 PM
I’m hoping these blogs will further expose her hypocrisy and lack of credibility as a leader in any capacity.
But I am very concerned also about who will fill this inevitable void of intolerance and hate when Governor Palin gets swept under the rug of history.

Hey “Who’s On First”, here is a little more info on Malek. Seems as a young man attending West Point he was hanging around with his buddies, the cops came along and found a blood spattered car and a few drunks nearby, Malek among them. At first the guys said they hit a dog, but later confesses to capturing a dog, skinning and then barbequeing the dog…no joke. BBQing the pet… All were arrested. Nice guy Malek, no wonder Palin didn’t want people to know she was his guest at the Alfalfa Dinner. Here’s the story:

This whole “Palin endorses” thing is a bunch of bull….as if she had choice that she really had to THINK about..she HAD no choice because Kay Bailey Hutchinson is PRO CHOICE. For non Texans, KBH will be going up against Perry in the repuke primaries when gov election time comes. If Palin were to back KBH, there goes her rabid anti choice base who she will be pandering to in 2012. So while the Palin camp is trying to make this news, it is NON-news, there was never any question on who she would endorse. She is most likely also trying to get at least one “big” state in her column come 2012, hence she is targeting Texas. I imagine she has hired repuke groomers who will be dictating her every move/endorsement/social and political engagement for the next 4 years.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kay_Bailey_Hutchison#Abortion_positions
Hutchison is against outlawing abortion.[7] She also believes that the decision of the United States Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade was appropriate and secures a constitutional right, and that it should not be overturned.[8]

Governor Perry is dumpster diving again for endorsements. Not so long ago Perry endorsed Rudy Giuliani (angling to be his VP). I am sure my fellow Texans are really chuckling about Palin’s endorsement…who asked her?
Believe me, we’ve had it with do nothing Perry. I don’t want ole Kay and am hoping Houston’s current mayor, Bill White – Dem, will run and be elected.
Texas is ready for a whopping big change in direction.

“Palin Endorses Republican Governor Rick Perry. ”
Doesn’t an endorsement imply some sort of level of competency, leadership, experience and wisdom?
She may be “backing” him, but she doesn’t have the credentials to “endorse”.

Can we please get the Secretary of the Interior to extend the Bureau of Indian Affairs to cover the Red Staters? The it would be easy to round up the Red-Staters and relocate them to the one Reddest State of those last 5 Red States that still have a majority loyal to the GOP and declare it a “Reservation”!
But how would we choose which State to sacrifice?
Nebraska is only “leaning red” so its off the table. Besides, we don’t want an uprising among The Children of The Corn.
Alaska is too close to Putin, there might be trouble if Red Staters see Russia from their homes and panic, flinging themselves like lemmings off of cliffs and into the sea. Alaska off the table.
Idaho borders Oregon, Washington, Montana, and a small portion of Canada. Too much potential for conflict with the Libs just across those borders. The potential for the Couer D’Alene Chapter of the Aryan Nations to take overleadership of the new Reservation is also scary.
Utah….well, I don’t think Utah would allow many of the Red Saters in to be truthful. I think Utah may just be too conservative for the GOP.
That leaves Wyoming. Dick Cheney’s Home Sweet Home. Red Sate Paradise Re-Discovered.
LET THE PILGRIMAGE BEGIN!!!!!

“He walks the walk of a true conservative. And he sticks by his guns – and you know how I feel about guns,” she said.>>>>>>>>>>
Honest to goodness, and I truely don’t mean to be rude, but how long do you think she will seriously be interested in that snow boy? Does she even know THIS guy? Did he eamil her @ SarahPAC and offer a deal? That’s what I assume.
She is so in love w/ herself she is sure to make an error with those who fall all over her.
But really, how many wackjobs would vote for her for Prez?
I live in what’s known as a Bible Belt and the majority hate -capital H- her here.
I spoke w/ a friend today who said she won’t even be here by 2012. I beleive the friend, she is wearing out her media coverage all in one shot.
Poor Alaska. You’ll get a 2 million dollar, 50 mile road to no where before this is done.
February 3rd, 2009 at 4:16 PM
“Shame on the Defenders of Wildlife for twisting the truth in an effort to raise funds from innocent and hard-pressed Americans struggling with these rough economic times.”
Boo hoo crybaby hoo. I like Judd MUCH better than Palin. I sent money to Emmonak. Food to the other village. Judd gets my next dime. Pooh on Palin.
February 3rd, 2009 at 4:17 PM
Gov Winky couldn’t offer any ’specifics’ about AK’s budget cuz she was too bizzy jet settin’ and jaw bonin’ with political ‘elites’ in Texas and DC. ‘Course, Palin still hasn’t been able to make it to Emmo.
Palin dines on steak and lobster in DC while remote Alaskans go hungry – and await heating fuel from Venezuela!!
I am ashamed and embarrassed that Sarah Palin is regarded as the ‘face of Alaska.’
When will we all rise up and do something about this sham of a governor?!
February 3rd, 2009 at 4:21 PM
Malek -aka dog eater- is one sick ticket & closely tied to the very last (hopefully) anti-semetic governement gig. He worked for Nixon and created a “Jew list” because Nixon thought some Jewish Mafia was going to take the states over.
February 3rd, 2009 at 4:26 PM
The GOP have 2 years to come back. Thus far they have Palin (who 1/2 of them don’t want), Joe the plumber advising them (LOL!), Ann Coultier raving over them, Limbaugh wishing Obama fails all around and Steel their token minority (who they will blame when they fail) and that former KKK guy who is having a fit that the RNC voted in a black guy -swears he’s taking 90% of Republicans with him when he bails the party.
Like a sinking ship that the captain left before the passengers and crew.
February 3rd, 2009 at 4:29 PM
there was no point in la palin going to the GOP winter retreat. she has nothing to offer except celebrity, and that only works on the proles. she has nothing to add to a conversation about issues or party direction.
if GOP leadership saw her as a serious candidate for anything, she would have been given — at the very least — a post at the governors conference to boost her resume.
but no, they are not even pretending that she’s making a contribution to figuring out how to remake the party or that she is anything but a national placeholder.
sadly for her, she doesn’t appear to have figured that out.
the malek business is just another revolting example of her bad judgment. the fact that she’s palling around with him speaks volumes about the reality of her making it into the 2012 primary, much less winning it. he’s not exactly on the leading edge of influential republican kingmakers.
February 3rd, 2009 at 4:30 PM
I don’t feel very symathetic for kay bailey. She spent 8 years sucking up to George W. Too bad both her and Perry can’t both lose.
February 3rd, 2009 at 4:36 PM
You
and I
would think that ship would sink.
But here we have a governor AND mainstream media much more fascinated with f**k boots than hungry and cold families in Alaskan villages.
Unfortunately the media and the people of America have very short memories and attention spans.
This is how we have been blessed with candidates like Bush and Palin. Aw-shucks kinda regular folks who can read cue cards and recite sound bites and inflame a minority.
February 3rd, 2009 at 4:39 PM
By the way…off topic….how are things in Emmanok?
February 3rd, 2009 at 4:55 PM
Are people really all that surprised that Palin lies like a rug? Afterall, isn’t the word “Palin” right there in the dictionary as a definition under a variety of words including untruthful, fibbber, liar, falsehood, unloyal, unfaithful, deceptive, misleading.
This is just more evidence that Sarah Palin is nothing more than a pile of fibble-fabble.
“A lie which is half a truth is ever the blackest lie ever told. – Tennyson

just a question… is being endorsed by Sarah Palin the same as getting the kiss of death?
February 3rd, 2009 at 5:11 PM
SP and Rick Perry are the same person for all intents and purposes. They are both full of crap. I would like to see him voted out of Austin, and I hope that this endorsement seals the deal.

Palin’s Texas letter stated “and you know how I feel about guns” followed by another paragraph which contained “every life is sacred.” Apparently, some lives must be more sacred than others, and I suppose she will be the judge of that.
February 3rd, 2009 at 7:15 PM
This pompous, disgustingly opportunistic phoney just has no shame, does she? Now she’s endorsing candidates IN OTHER STATES? Why she thinks anyone in Texas gives a rats ring-a-ding who she likes as our governor is a complete mystery. No, not really a mystery… the transparent dishonesty of her endorsement is hardly a mystery….just ANOTHER scheme to keep herself in the news.
I have to wonder, as much as Team Sarah is swooning in their – really, really boring — online chat room, the rest of us are shaking our heads over the joke Palin continues to be. OMG!! she’s cheering for roads to nowhere…no, wait, she’s watching the Superbowl…and hey, there she is…playing Texan… Good grief! The portrait of Palin as a joke will be just as strong in 2010 or 2012 as it is now.
I also, too, also think her endorsement ploy has an even more pathetic aim. I see it an attempt by Palin to preempt a potential rival, namely Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison. If Kay defeats Perry in our next governor’s race, she’ll have just as much “executive” experience at the gubornatorial level as Palin had when she was nominated. Plus all those extra years as Senator of a POTUS-producing state. Senator Kay is well-liked, experienced, strong, and classy. I’ll be pulling the lever for her in the primary. For sure!
Palin is not going away. But I thank her for being so OBVIOUS! It makes it easier to laugh at her. My advice to her is this: all those grifter freebies she’s been helping herself to… well, she needs to be sure and pay any taxes due on them.
February 3rd, 2009 at 8:37 PM
Boy are we missing Molly Ivins – who gave Perry the nickname “Gov. Goodhair” in the first place. Take a look at her essays on Texas politics and the rise of W and Rick Perry in “Who Let the Dogs In” — and let’s hope AKM one day turns the muck of Palin-era Alaska shenanigans into similar trenchant nuggets.
February 3rd, 2009 at 11:55 PM
How little does the GOP think of SP?
They didn’t invite her to consult with them on the economy…they invited Joe the plumber!
Wait! What’s that noise? Oh, it’s the GOP imploding…
February 4th, 2009 at 5:34 AM
Was the endorsement letter on State stationary? hmmm?
And way to rile all of Hollywood and Celebrities Palin……..now it’s gonna get interesting.
February 4th, 2009 at 8:46 AM
Perry is fluff and no substance. I don’t endorse any Republicans, but Hutchison is much more qualified.
Of course, Kay may have said nasty things about Palin because it was big slap in her face that Palin was chosen as the first female VP over her, and rightly so.
February 4th, 2009 at 9:06 AM
Unless Governor Palin dictated her letter to a state employee or or wrote it it on the ‘actual’ Governor’s desk or used a state owned computer to print it (on piece of paper with the state seal) or used a state bought envelope and stamp to send it, then there’s no ethical problem in Mrs. Palin, on her own time with her own money, engaging in ‘partisan politics’ ( did she sign the letter Sarah Palin or Governor Palin?) . And , her newly formed PAC (independent slush fund) inserts a layer of murkiness into all her political actions. It’s the ‘on the state’s time’ and ‘with the state’s dime’ that don’t mix with ‘partisan politics’.
February 4th, 2009 at 12:32 PM
I think Palin is due for some rude awakenings about Perry.
