Tiptoeing Through the Muck of Alaskan Politics

The Coldest State With the Warmest Governor.

latte

No, the governor has never released one of her infamous press releases about the crisis in Emmonak and other rural villages, and she has not actually gone to visit any of the places where residents have to choose between food and heat.  No, she has not utilized her worldwide celebrity in the cause of …oh, I don’t know…promoting a food drive for hungry children.

But she has been chatting with Esquire Magazine  and now we have some insight into what she thinks about keeping warm in Alaska:

My favorite place in Alaska is on a cold winter day in my own house, with fat snowflakes falling. In my nice warm home.

Fleece, lots of fleece, and skinny white-chocolate mochas. That’s the best way to stay warm.

Ah!  That’s the best way.  Maybe that’s the problem.  Let’s use some of that stimulus money to put in a few Starbucks on the Y-K Delta.  Hey, kid!  You don’t have a ‘nice warm home?’  Wanna skinny white chocolate mocha?

I hear letting people eat cake keeps them warm too.

    reposted:

Barbie left a “press release” about all the help the state is giving (a) village:
February 5, 2009, Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin today lauded the work of the multiple state agencies, nonprofits and faith-based organizations that have worked in a cooperative effort to deliver supplies to Lower Yukon River communities affected by high fuel and food prices.
The governor also expressed concern about inaccurate comments made to the media by Representative Jay Ramras that the state has failed to make state assets available to deliver supplies to communities. In actuality, state agencies have used aircraft from the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to fly food into Kotlik, another distressed Lower Yukon River village. DPS plans on providing additional transportation of bulk foods in the future.

“We are working cooperatively with the communities, many legislators, Native corporations, and other entities to address the needs in these areas,” Governor Palin said. “I am disappointed that Representative Ramras failed to express his concerns to my office before issuing a press release with incomplete and misleading information. This is particularly concerning since he knew I would be attending a meeting with his entire caucus that evening. Representative Ramras did not mention the specific issue of using state assets to me personally at the meeting. Instead, I read about it later in the press release. Truly Alaskans deserve better than that kind of ‘politics as usual’. It is unfortunate that the representative sees this as an opportunity to play politics rather than help in the response.”

Funny we have heard nothing about this…and by Faith based org. who does she mean? The only people I had read giving help are the Annon. bloggers!
Went to Tundra Drums, not a peep! I heard Jay Ramas mentioned Alfafa club at least 3 times during the radio show with CC!!!

I seem to recall when the news first was aired about people might need help this winter, SP was trying to figure out what a VP does. Then when, word came that things were getting really bad, she was well we can all see where she wasn’t, now 25 days later, after everyone on the planet has been asking “Where is Sarah” when her native villiage people need her, and her new arch rival is making bigger headlines than she is…she come late to the party, after she took that little side trip to pal around with the elite. Ok, what has she done…is there a package with her name on it….did she go to the food bank and put her her day of volunteering? Just asking?

The Departments of Commerce, Community and Economic Development, Health and Social Services, Education and Early Development, Fish and Game and Public Safety and other organizations are continuing to work jointly to ensure residents living in the affected areas have access to all state assistance programs that are available.

  21. 22
    califpatNo Gravatar says:

This imbecile is un-f##ing believable! How insensitive can she be? Even though this interview was given a little while ago, I am sure she was well aware of the dire situations that were taking place in the native villages in Alaska even then. But true to her nature, she did not give a damn.

She goes on to talk about how her favorite place is sitting in her warm house as she watches the fat snowflakes fall. What? These huge snowflakes are the elements that rob the native people of their warmth in their homes and they are not, by any circumdtnces en joying the warmth in their home as the Gov was and is. These same elements are freezing these Alaskan and their children and their elders out, as Princess Ice snuggles cozily in her warm house.

On another level, the Gov. brags about being able to hunt and fish, in order to keep her freezer full of healthy food for her loved ones, with no thought of the young babies and the feeble elders in the native villages that are not privy to these same privileges because of her legislatures.

Then this cretin of a mother, does not instill within in her daughter the essence of love, committment or the give and take in a marriage, She stresses that marriage is a only a business deal. WTF?

Then this incurious dufus, gives this , “Leave it to Beaver” scenario of her child reading to her in their bed, where they all fall asleep in her great big bed. At the same time native children cant see to read in their home because of lack energy or have the snuggly warmth that the Gov enjoys.

Add injury to insult, SP discusses what is the epitome of herself, (but she does not realize it] where she accuses other politicians of making money the be all, end all, and seeking power and where prestige and trying to get and keep a title next to their name is the most important part of politics. Now, Mudpups, is this exactly Sarah Palin’s agenda that she is accusing every other politician of? At the same time, Sarah Palin is the most inept person to hold any office ? Talk me down. Because I sorely need it.

  22. 23
    Peaceful GrannyNo Gravatar says:

Once again, let’s go back to before her run for VP, when SP canned the guy that was asking for help for the first nation folks, b/c he wouldn’t fire her ex-bother-in-law. Then let’s take a look at that can speech she gave to these same first nation folks at there annual meeting. Did she address their concern or request for assistance by appointing someone that did anything about it last fall when something could have been done to prevent this emergency. Give us a break…her memory is very selective, but ours is not and many of us have been saving the clips, pictures and know the story that is well archived right her on this blog…she will be able to lie to herself and her “base” they want to believe she is their “great white hope”.

She just can’t keep her foot out of her mouth long enough to see what a fool she is. A leader of fools goes down hard…look at Cheney, Bush, and McCain, her hero. They would rather see the tallybandits take over than shut-up and leave town peacefully.

We need to be watchful and aware. Easter comes pretty early this year and this loonietic fringe will be looking for a martyr to string up. Someone is in their sights, I’m going to keep my eyes open I’ve seen hope they operate, they don’t fool me anymore.

Working with Wal-Mart, Safeway, The Fairbanks Community Foodbank, The Food Bank of Alaska located in Anchorage, and dozens of churches in both communities, it is anticipated that this effort will move 20,000 lbs of food to Western Alaska.”

why are we not hearing about all this 20,000lbs of food? We are only hearing about food donated by bloggers! Is this a big lie or what?

  25. 26
    Peaceful GrannyNo Gravatar says:

I don’t think it is a lie, I think that the bloggers got the ball rolling and after enough people were called, plied and poked lots of people chipped in to make something happen, better late than never. Now, the politicians will all claim they did what no one else could do, same as always. It’s human nature, those that can do, those that can’t yell nothing is being done, that how people are. Those that already have everything blame those that don’t for not doing what they did to get their share. Never mind that the biggest share was already taken leaving very little to trickle down.

IMHO, the only way they run her is if BHO is so popular (like WJC in ’96) that they would be better off saving the $$$ on the race. I mean, how much do you hear about Bob Dole these days? It would be a way to get SP to simply GO AWAY after 2012.

I would bet that Gov. Palin heard and knew about bloggers making contacts and getting a relief work started. She played her cards right by not saying anything until she was publicly criticized by her peer. Up until that point, she had secretly gathered up info on who was involved in the relief, and used that info as a pronouncement that she herself was involved and on top of the situation, at her press release.

I have always wondered about the ‘let them eat cake’ comment. That made perfect sense and I believe it is the true gist of what Marie meant. Which makes it very apropo here and now. Also.
