Thank you for isolating that clip.

Her Response sounded snippy, curt cold, and uncaring. She does not care about anything that she does not want to see.

The sad part is Pro Palin supporters call some of the questions asked by the press rude and unprofessional

The only person in that press conference that is rude, unproffesional and mean spirited is Sarah Palin.

@alaskantiger: That's great you could make it over to Hanshew. I was there around noon and they're getting a good pile. It is my understanding they'll keep taking stuff next week. Thanks!

Should be "what good" and "cut back" not "got back" sorry about that!!

What could is her going to those villages going to do? Is she the 2nd coming of Christ, who thinks just your presence in these villages will be enough to save them?!?!?! Seriously, unless she plans on playing Santa and pulling food and supplies out of a big red sack, she is pretty much useless. She has had more then a month to do something.

But yet she has managed to go to D.C. for a private dinner, and other trips, as well as seeing her husband off on some snow race. All that fuel used in the race, could have been sent to the villages in need. That would have been an amazing act of kindness, as well as the prize money.

I realize that Alaskans don't have much in forms of entertainment, and local things to support. That this Iron Dog or whatever is important, but in a time of crisis it would not have been too awful for them to cancel the race and send the fuel and other supplies to the Yukon. The Country is in a recession, and other States, towns, and cities have got back on 'entertainment' and useless spending.

Her kissing her husband goodbye as he hops on some gas guzzler to go race 2000miles in a big circle, while people are starving and freezing elsewhere is a horrible image, and not good for her PR.

This will be remembered in 2012 if she decides to run for a National office....

@Jim - thanks VERY much for the heads up on being able to drop stuff off at Hanshew. I had purchased a huge garbage bag of things at Sam's but was worried about what it was going to cost to ship (I got a little carried away), but now that I was able to pass along that without paying any shipping, I can go out and buy some more lightweight items like toilet paper and ship them myself.

Sara doesn't want to shine any attention on the plight of rural Alaskans because addressing the root causes is at odds with her political goals. A large part of the problem is that the Salmon industry in Bristol Bay collapsed. The reasons for the collapse are complex but Global Warming and pollution are at the heart of it. Sara favors digging for coal in the Bristol Bay area and the last thing she wants to do is shine a bright light on the problems mining and global warming are causing in her state. The public face of Alaska is that energy is the only viable industry in the state and that there are no competeing industrys that are being harmed. And yes, I think Sara is evil enough to let people suffer and even die to further her political ends. In fact, I think the energy industry is so evil, I won't put it past them to intentially destroy the Bristol Bay Salmon industry if they thought it would clear the way for them to move in their mining industry. By the way it is not just Bristol Bay, the Salmon are gone all along the West Coast of NA as well. Here is an intersting article in Salon regarding the missing Salmon and the hope that they might return this year.

Hi Peaceful Granny:

I talked with Foodbank yesterday and they are set up to receive village aid contributions. Their phone number is (907) 272-3663. I gave them my credit card info on the phone. They said we should make donations on the phone so we can specify that we want the money to go to village aid. I will also encourage them to put some links on their site.

For me it would suffice if I could go to their online donation page and have an option there of specifying village relief. That hasn’t been done yet. I don’t know when their webmaster will get around to it. I think until very recently they didn’t know they’d be involved in village aid but they have agreed to do it. In talking with those people I’m confident my contribution will go out to the Delta.

For today I’ll take stuff over to Hanshew Middle School here in Anchorage and see If we can get that Fedex plane filled. Last Week Emmonak indicated they need stuff like rice, oatmeal, Sailor Boy Pilot Bread, Powdered Milk, Spam, canned corn, coffee, sugar, Tang or Kool-Aid, canned fruit, cold and hot cereals, ketchup, worchestor sauce, ketchup, and table condiments. They also requested Similac Advance. I’m sure they can always use toilet paper too.

I have come to realize that villages need just basic stuff that we take for granted, which is very humbling. It is hard to switch gears and throw something like a bag of sugar in the mail and realize I’m helping someone by doing that.

I’m sad about your box. Sorry that happened.

I saw most of this press conference on TV. It was fairly "unscripted" so her responses were unfiltered. That said, I would so much like to read a psychological description of her mannerisms, facial expressions etc. To me she just looked like she was ready to come apart - which probably isn't too far off in the future.
