Pallin’ Around With Sarah and Bill?
You’ve got to love a “terr-rrist” with a sense of humor.
In an interview with The New York Times appearing this Sunday in its Magazine, former Weatherman and top 2008 campaign demon, Bill Ayers, reveals that he sent Sarah Palin a note after the November election. You will recall — how could you not? — that she had claimed on numerous occasions that Barack Obama was “pallin’ around with terrorists,” notably, Bill Ayers.
Asked about these attacks, Ayers replies, referring to Palin, “I did send her a note after the election. I suggested that we have a talk show together called Pallin’ Around With Sarah and Bill.” Alas: “I haven’t heard back.”
Alas, indeed.
Hmmm. I guess Fox News wasn’t interested in picking that one up.
I’m sure she put the note where all those thank you’s from Planned Parenthood are!
Nice to know that Bill still has a sense of humor after the tarring and feathering he was subjected to during the general election.

We have a friend who bombed the court house because he didn’t feel like going to a hearing. He was 20, did a couple of years for it (no one got hurt). Now years older, he’s better behaved, great guy, nice family.
In those days you could do things like that and not be considered a terrorist. A raging idiot maybe. But not a terrorists.
I figure it never hurts to have a FRIEND like that … You never know!

Update, winners just finished, Todd was eaten by wolves 3 hours outside Fairbanks. Seems Sarah had shot their mother from a helicopter.

Menard is a long time friend of the Palins and had strong support during last falls election in winning the seat held by former Wasilla Senator Lyda Green.
Reportedly, the fact that Menard supported the resolution didn’t sit well with the family.
These reported attempts to pressure with intimidating phone calls is beginning to sound a lot like the Wooten affair.

I think the saddest part to me is that wolves mate for life.
We live on the water and don’t allow hunting/trapping on our property. But there is an island right across the waterway where hunters bombard the geese. The partner goose will spend hours flying all over in a screeching panic looking for it’s mate. It’s just horrid. Breaks my heart.
I imagine the wolf mates (and god knows the pups) searching in vain for their mate/mother/father. It’s just too sad.

The Congressional Rethugs are gleefully referring to themselves now as “Taliban insurgents.” Keith said it best yesterday:

I have seen videos of elephants mourning a baby or other animals mourning a loss.
It makes me so sick to hear about how AK killed the mother wolf and then cruelly slaughtered the cubs in the den by shooting them in the head.
I love Geese too! They fly over my house in the AM and PM and I love them. They hang out out the local cemeteries, I like to think they are guardians there. Sometimes I will go to the duckpond there and feed them but won’t let them get too close for fear they will learn to trust in humans. I am not a PETA person, and I do (sadly) eat meat. We recent voted to make sure every farm animal is treated humanely and if for food, that is humanly done too. I have to bless these animals that give their lives for ours.
The humane farming vote in California effectively exported sectors of agriculture from your state. The producers that stay and comply will have to raise their prices.
I raise free-range hens for eggs. I charge $5/dozen for eggs. My cost of production is around $4.80/dozen. (I’m paying 21.5 cents per KWh for electricity to run lightbulbs for heat in my houses and paying $38/cwt for feed. My cost of inputs has doubled in four years.)

are you saying it was wrong to do that? That was their excuse why they couldn’t comply, it would cost too much. The videos of the farm animals is sickening, not to mention how they denied them veterinary help.
Of course the people making the vids are vegetarians so they don’t care about the cost, but I would be willing to pay more for free range eggs/chickens rather than the diseased chickens and cruel farming practices that were going on. The only “exported sectors of agriculture” are factory farming, that were committing these practices. The small farmers do not do this, this is actually a good thing for them. People are WANTING non-factory farmed products including cheese and milk, And will pay more for them.

Funny thing–I had never heard of Bill Ayers before Sarah Palin started referring to him as B. Obama’s terrorist pal. Because by that point I was in full “check the facts” mode I started researching Bill Ayers. What I discovered amazed me. This guy is the kind of visionary who has much to offer the world of education. Reading his website gave me chills–in a good way. Among other things, I also found a letter he had written to the paper when his “unrepentent terrorist” interview was printed complaining that the interviewer had completely misrepresented his remarks. The letter made perfect sense (I went to the paper’s website and couldn’t find a copy of it, so I don’t know if they printed his response or not).
I do not advocate violence. I do not advocate bombing public buildings. But as someone pointed out above (and as Ayers himself points out) the sixties were a different world. Was bombing right? Nah. Would the Weathermen’s message about the carnage in Vietnam have been heard without the threat of violence? Probably not.
I was too young in those days to really be entitle to an opinion now. What I would hope, though, is that before automatically pronouncing Ayers a terrorist and a canker on the butt of humanity we would all take the time to read what he has to say now about the role education can and should play in teaching our children to question, to explore, to think, and to form informed opinions. I know that reading what he had to say left me with the belief that while Mr. Ayers and I might disagree on methods, his is a voice that should be heard.
