Tiptoeing Through the Muck of Alaskan Politics

Rural Alaska – Let Them Eat…..Cookies?

Yes, we’ve had another “drive by” from flyinureye!  This one was inspired by the fact that when Governor Palin flew to the remote village of Russian Mission, escorted by not one, but two evangelical preachers (Franklin Graham and Jerry Prevo) to bring food aid to local residents, she brought…..homemade cookies, and some advice!

So, a nod to the old saying about a picture being worth 1000 words, and a hat tip to flyinureye!

AKM, I hope you are feeling better soon – and not just so you can post more. Thanks for the sugary sweetness of Sarah’s cookies. If I don’t think about it too much, it makes me laugh – and as I’m working on taxes right now, I could use a good laugh.

    Take care.

That made me think of a story by an old folkie named Utah Bruce Philips. The story was “Moose-turd Pie” and tells of working on the railroad and having to cook for the crew, so he served up a pie with the named ingredient to try and get out of cooking. If anyone complained about the cooking – they had to cook.

In the punch line, the biggest, meanest member of the crew took a big bite of the pie and exclaimed “MY GOD, that’s moose-turd pie!!….It’s good though.”

Here we have elected our first female Gino, and in this crisis she whips on her Betty Crocker apron and bakes cookies….so female of her…so setting us back 150 yrs. She has ignored their pleas for months and months, and out of deperation, one elder calls out for help….and she brings with her priests, boxed food and cookies! I think the inspiration for the cookies was that Sarah probably thought it would add to the photo op. Imagine a line of cheering little native kids so happy to see their GINO. I have no doubt Samaritan’s Purse is shipping video copies to every church in the country, expecting a boost in donations.

While I’m glad to see food FINALLY start trickling in from Sam’s Purse to help the Villagers, it just seems so calculated at the same time. Call me cynical.

@ the problem child. thanks for that link, am looking it over. Look what I found there about GINO.

“Faith Based” mental health approaches, including in the area of suicide prevention, appears to be growing more common and in early 2008 Alaska Governor Sarah Palin appointed Northwinds Global Minstries Director Pat Donelson to the Alaska Suicide Prevention Council, where Donelson led a New Apostolic program in prophecy for youth “joining an end-time army.” Donelson is also the co-founder of Carry The Cure, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit which bills itself as a suicide prevention charity that brings a suicide prevention message to schools. But some of the Carry the Cure program material appears to carry messages unusual in the context of suicide prevention, sch as a Carry the Cure heavy-metal song the group plays in schools and which urges teens to carry out a revolution. On its federal tax forms Carry the Cure describes its mission as: “Religious – Evangelism”. Sarah Palin joined the Advisory Board of Carry the Cure in 2000.

Sugar is a drug much like alcohol. Are natives for many years and in many cultures, have been drugged into submission for white mans desires, with distilled and refined sugars.

Are non native culture has build up a greater tolerance of Alcohol/sugars than our native cultures. I remember when I was a kid going to church every week, the pressure to be good was enforced by my folks and the church by sugar. If I was a good christian and believed in the bible, I got a big box of M&M’s every Christmas from the church. To this day I reward myself with sugar. I know better but since I don’t drink alcohol, I go for sugar.

All I’m trying to say is that, sugar is such an old game to convert believers or to control the out come. I wonder how much refined sugar was in those boxes.

It’s a bit like the evangelicals who go to a village, and there they find a man starving in, pray for them, then go on their merry way. The only ones who feel better are the evangelicals – the man is still starving, isn’t he? But the point of their visit wasn’t to feed the hungry or warm the freezing but to feel better about themselves – the great Christian hope swooping in with their meager plate of cookies and even more meager compassion.

If you claim you are native and arent, I beleive there are penalities, but I m not sure if this is , tribal, state or federal. I believe the federal people can step in to see if he was hired under native preference, if so and he isnt native, then thats fraud. If she is claiming he went through one of these programs and he isnt registered, they can find out and it is much like if I filled out an application and put down , that I was ‘hispanic;’ and Im not able to prove it, I can get into big trouble.

Nicholas Tucker is a lovely human being. And in spite of his saying he doesn’t have power, his words were mighty powerful from the get go. They drew together people from all over the country, and from around the world.

And all SP could do was to say the “young people” need to – she just has no idea, does she? She has no idea that HER idea of what will work may not be 1. the ONLY thing that will work, but that 2. her idea of what’s “right” for her may not be right for everyone!

It seems that people wanting to support the efforts of the World Wildlife Fund against Alaska’s hunting and predator control policies have been making donations and directing the fund to send the fuzzy stuffed animals one gets in return to Gov. Palin.

An earwig in a position to actually know something once in a while says Bristol called her mom last week to report three more stuffed wolves had shown up at the house.

Mom wondered (perhaps not sincerely?) what they might send the WWF fans as a thank-you for the stuffed wolves.

I still find it amazing that one of the sponsors of the 2009 CPAC was TeamSarah. Guess they got tired of just screwing up the political debate in Alaska.

On a lighter note, GINO still hasn’t run out of high school friends to insulate her from the big bad world. She changed the states Line of Succession to include as 3rd in line after the Lt. Governor, the Head of the Department of Corrections. Billy Boy McAllister noted that he was a high school friend of the Governors which of course means he qualified to do anything within the state government I guess. So now instead of the Attorney General being 3rd line, we have one of the GINO’s high school pals who I’m sure is qualified to run the state. This is a man who received a 96% disapproval rating from the members of the Department and Palin said this was just a sign of his trying to change things. You know, he was just trying to be all mavericky, to be a part of a Team of Mavericks. In reality though, given the abilities of Palin and Parnell I’m not sure that he is really that big of a step down.

Now you tell me that if you’re in the middle of one questionable ethics decision after another, do you install another high school buddy into a position of increased power? At what point does it stick in her pointy head to just lay low and try to run the state..and not run it into the ground as she seems to like to do?

I know that this “end times” sect was apparently started decades ago, and it’s crazy that it still goes on, however, I’ve had no success in “getting any dirt” about it. They evidently keep their information very guarded. Perhaps I need to try to make like Matt Taibbi of Rolling Stone magazine and infiltrate their Jesus Camps as an art instructor (as if I would get in). If I had the time and the financial backing, I would want to make Seven Mountains a research project. Paula? I’m looking forward to reading your findings.

I agree, Sarah was aiming to give a “personal touch” in order to impress upon her supporters and the media that she cares about her rural Alaskan constituents in peril. She was putting what you would call “spin” on a crisis situation.

Sarah Palin is a pawn of Big Oil. It’s so obvious.

Governor Palin goes far beyond the “call of duty” to maintain the integrity of Alaska. She was not found to have done anything wrong. The questionable trips were only 10 out of 72 and those 9 were certainly debatable as the rules of the Personnel Board are very vague. She has already saved Alaska about $100,000 with her per diem arrangement and another $25,000 by refusing to accept the raise she was due. In addition her fiscal management of the state has been impressive to say the least. People who don’t understand this, just don’t want to understand it. They have their own political agenda. BigSlick – “Sarah is like a bad wind……..” Was that a nice way to say flatulence ??
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Nick Tucker is the salt of the Earth, and calling him such expresses his strength and permanence. He will not back down, as we have seen on video now, even when Sarah insults him. Even when Sarah insults the entire native community leadership with her many comments attempting to lay blame for the current crisis at the feet of the tribal elders, Nick Tucker sought her out to reason with her. And she failed to engage in responsible and intelligent dialog.

I am not sure about Alaska’s native culture, but the native cultures I have had contact with in North and Central America all refer to “bad spirits” borne upon the wind, who are usually temporary nuisances but sometimes wreak havoc if not dealt with properly.

In Western Mexico, you will often hear people talking about the need to be careful of “mal aire” (translated: “bad air”) or “evil spirits” that can enter/exit you when you yawn or cough, thus the covering of the mouth or turning away is a custom among these people.

In fact, the word “malaria” comes from this expression, referring to bad swamp air as the probable cause well before it was discovered that it was actually carried airborne from victim to victim by mosquitoes.

But I could go with calling Sarah a bad fart that seems to linger, too.

    Also. Even.

He would not be deterred ………I think she knew she did not have an answer,or just felt discomfort(no thoughts) and that was too much for her; so she moved on; pretending to be a queen- the meeting was concluded and turned to another one of her subjects. I watched that and watched her face and seeing her nod I just knew while he spoke that in her head she was thinking “blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, get a job.”

    Mr McMahon,
Separation of church and state is a foundational principle of our Constitution. There is a GOOD reason for this. If one believes the the End Times are coming soon, the focus of the “giving” is to garner souls, not help people to sustain themselves.
Giving WITHOUT STRINGS has been a challenge for Samaritan’s Purse. In the Scriptural story of the Samaritan, there were NO strings…just pure kindness. If that was the case here, there would have been no need for a photo op.
This governor needs to use state resources to help these villages become sustainable…not just bake cookies and call it good.

Thomas McMahan…are you Dud in disguise…govern wisely??? I don’t live in Alaska, but that is the exaggerated statement of the year. Sarah’s “mission” with Graham came only after the crises in the Native Villages were brought to light and documented by bloggers who paid for an independent documetary maker to film their plight and got it on the front page of CNN.

Sarah’s message to them was get a job on the slope like Todd did and get some Jesus in your life or your all be doomed. These people are not asking for handouts…just respect for their way of life which has sustained them for thousands of years. Commerical fishing and mining endangers their economic sustainability, but I guess you know nothing about that.

As far as Sarah doing interviews…maybe one of those dozens of PR people she has working for her finally got it through her thick skull to keep a low profile. Everytime she does a national interview it turns into a disaster for her politically because she is so woefully ignorant.

My grandmother had Native American in her parentage, of which I have been trying to get info about, and have a special place in my heart for the NA’s. It hurt me to see Mr. Tucker express his true feelings, his frustration, in a kind manner to her, and her response was void of feeling, especially when Mr. Tucker seemingly was trying to hold back tears. It made me tear up…….so the response of GINO was evasive and cold shoulder.

Her reply, pushing white man’s agenda on delicate issues about employment away from villages is not thought out. Why didn’t she put her arm around him, pull him away from the camera and offer to meet with him personally. I understand these people, their way of life is all they know and they are proud of it, as well they should be. They should have the priviledge and choice of their younger generation to stay at home with elder relatives, instead of moving away – it tears these communities apart.

As for the cookies, it is more of an insult. When Jesus drew the crowds to speak, he made sure all of them first were fed, and another time multiplied fish and loaves.

I thought I would try and write up a transcript of the video mentioned above. I may not have all the text correct, but you can certainly get the sense of the video.

Russian Mission. SP meeting residents. Scene is inside a building with a large crowd, lots of background noise, quite crowded, all are dressed in outdoor clothes. Video is shot from behind Nicholas ‘Tucker (NT) mostly over his left shoulder. Audio picks up who he is talking to, but does not pick up his comments very well, so the video has his comments in text on the screen.

Starts with NT shaking hands with a man to the left of SP.

    NIcholas introduces himself .

Man: Hi Nicholas, nice to meet you too. Are you a good blogger? Aren’t you a blogger?

    NT: I’m not a blogger.

Man: No.. OK. (unintelligble).. that was a very good one.

Scene cuts to a few moments later with NT talking to SP.

Someone off screen says to SP : This is Nick Tucker.

SP: So good to meet you.

NT: I’m Nick Tucker from Emmonak. First of all I want to thank you, for the fact that you acknowledged the needs of our people, not only in Emmonak, but throughout, and as a common citizen, I have deep respect for government because they have power and I don’t.

SP : You know….(unintelligible).. (gives NT a hug)

NT: And one of the things is, don’t forget us. The thing is, this is temporary help but we need sustainable jobs, fisheries.
And you know, we’re an oil rich state, and from our cries and our suffering we have allowed other people to coming into

    SP: Yes,…Yes..

NT: (unintelligble)… Now look what happened.

SP: Here’s what we are trying to do, also. Allowing our young people in rural Alaska … to recognize it is their resource… and development of those resources needs to …..

NT: We need you to come out and make sure you get things done for us. Because you can, you can help us with the Denaili Commission and any other resource that we can come up with. BIA’s helping right now and who else can we look up to?

SP: Right working together, you and the local communities and state government, we going to be able to allow the economies to be revitalized and job opportunities for the young people.

NT: Yes, I appreciate your help but that’s barely enough. We want to get restored back to who we are. The Native people are very strong people and this is probably the only time that they cried out for help.

    SP: I recognize that.

NT: They’re hungry, I mean they’re not starving, they’re hungry. On your way home, you can read my original letter. These are from real people that started the outcry, and respect for who they are.

(NT motions toward a women standing to his right. SP turns toward the woman and puts her hand on the woman’s back. The woman says “Hi”, and SP says “How are you doing” . We also now see a second woman next to the first . SP to second woman:
SP: So nice to meet you, what is your name?
SP turns toward 2nd woman and bends over to hear the name.
    2nd Woman: (unintelligble)
SP Turns back to first woman.
    SP: What is your name?
1st Woman: Natalia (hard to hear the name)
SP: So nice to meet you Natalia.
NT (handing SP the letter): You know the oil money and everything else came out of our land.

    SP: I’ll read …(unintelligble).

NT: We want you to think about this. We have a long way to go. The healthier, more jobs in the villages, more opportunities, you wouldn’t have to come back to us…..

(Now we see a young girl in background standing next to the 1st woman).

SP: Also, Mr Tucker, we’ll let people know, young people in these areas also, that its not just the jobs inside the villages, but good resource development jobs with the mining and with the oil production and fisheries even if they are outside the villages. Like my husband, who grew up in Dillingham, the native village of Dillingham, he worked on the North Slope (these?) years, so he could come back to the village and participate in the community then go off to work, then come back..

NT: Our culture is to tied into us. It’s hard for us to live in Anchorage because of all the discrimination and things like that.

SP: Right, see that’s what these resource development jobs allow, just like with my husband, he didn’t have to leave forever the village, he would be gone, .. be off….

NT: Like her, (motions toward the young girl standing in beside him) she’s going to grow up to take care of us. She will need a job.

    SP: Yes

NT: They will. I don’t do politics. I come from the heart and the sorrow of our people.

SP: I respect you for that, Thank you, Thank you so much. I appreciate that and I’ll read (this).

An earwig in a position to actually know something once in a while says Bristol called her mom last week to report three more stuffed wolves had shown up at the house.

Ruthless= asking tough questions, demanding answers and accountability. Calling a spade a spade, and not listening to the lies and canned speeches. You will need to verbally defend your past actions and lack of actions. You will not be able to sit down at the table and read from your notes….you will have to stand up and answer the same questions as the rest of the canidates will have to answer. You will have to follow the rules and regulations, and no special treatment because you are female. That’s what Imean by Ruthless…we will be asking tough questions. Period.

Martha Unalaska Yard SignNo Gravatar says:

SP just wants a work force for her resource development plans (ALL over the state). She wants little worker bees who are so APPRECIATIVE of white people jobs. Take them away from their villages, where they are needed, and then make them grateful for cookies and oil jobs. This is NOT about natives working in YOUR world, Sarah – this is about how native peoples can be a part of resource development from within their villages and places of power, and that’s only part of what many of the villages desire. They want tools to become the masters of their own fates once more (restored to the way we were), and you know what – if we help along the lines the villages need – THEY will be the business people handing fisheries, resource leases, native crafts, etc. Change is coming, there is no doubt – but it’s not what YOU want Sarah.

    Her lie: http://www.thedutchharborfisherman.com/news/show/4983

“She touted the state’s mining, fisheries and oil jobs, saying they allow people to earn good money without permanently leaving the village. As an example she used her husband. Todd Palin grew up in Dillingham and became a North Slope oil worker, where people often work two weeks out of the month.”

Well that’s all a little confusing and convenient, don’t ya think? Sarah Palin seems to think that Todd’s heritage is just another talking point in getting elected, as is everything in her life. Her example to Nicholas Tucker is a joke!

    http://www.adn.com/sarah-palin/background/story/561419.html

    Excerpts:

Todd’s parents, Jim Palin and Lena’s daughter Blanche, met in Dillingham. After their divorce, Todd spent winters with his father in Glennallen but returned to Dillingham in summers, where he fished with Lena and Al Andree, learned about outboards and running lines, and helped smoke and can the salmon.

As a candidate for governor two years ago, and more recently on the national stage, Sarah Palin has avidly pointed to her husband’s Eskimo heritage. Lena Andree is one-half Yup’ik, and Todd Palin is one-eighth.

During the 2006 governor’s race, Palin introduced Andree on stage at the Alaska Federation of Natives convention and described her own family’s mixed roots as an example of how whites and Natives can surmount controversies that divide them.

When it came time to debate, however, Palin was often at odds with her Native listeners. On sensitive subsistence hunting and fishing issues, her positions resembled those of urban sportsmen’s groups who backed her.

In the election, she finished far behind Democrat Tony Knowles in rural, Native-dominated districts. Urban and small-town votes carried her to victory. As governor, she has come under criticism for not reaching out to Natives, though her efforts to assist rural Alaska economically have been praised.

Culturally, the Palins live a lifestyle of small-town Alaska. Todd does not take part in Native organizations or tribal politics. He grew up in Glennallen and Wasilla. His Native roots can be seen in his dividends from the Bristol Bay Native Corporation and boyhood visits with his grandma, where he learned to tend fish nets along the Nushagak River.

“It’s distasteful to say my husband is Native, my children are Native, so trust me. Just tell me what you believe,” said a Palin critic, former state Sen. Georgianna Lincoln, following the AFN debate that year.

Sarah Palin lost the 2006 governor’s election in Dillingham, 480-242. In Manokotak, Palin lost 63-33.

There is something we can do here – we’ve been discussing the need for the Regional Native Corporations to get truly involved in developing trade / commerce / administration and involvement in resource development in native lands. We are going to be tracking down rural AK advocates to help. I’d like to start a letter writing campaign to the regional corporations when we are a little more clear on what we want to say – stay tuned – I’ll be back here asking for support when we’ve developed that idea a bit more. The corporations haven’t necessarily fulfilled their missions set out by ANCSA, and some are not very popular with their shareholders for various reasons. We need to put pressure on the corporations to face the future and become realistically and actively involved in developing resources WITHIN Alaska, not just investing in business outside of the state. It’s not just about dividends, it’s about creating viable livelihoods and supporting dignity & pride for rural and non-rural Alaskan native peoples everywhere.

    http://www.alaskadispatch.com/news/rural-alaska/891-nick-tucker-confronts-sarah-palin-on-rural-alaska

“Tucker told Palin that asking people to leave their villages for outside jobs is not the solution to struggling rural Alaska. People don’t want to live in Anchorage, he said. He also talked about a long-held resentment by many rural Alaskans — that the state is rich with oil, the reserves sit on Native people’s ancestral lands, and that Natives have not benefited much from the oil wealth. While this is no doubt true, the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act was, in part, supposed to address this issue. The expectation was that Native corporations, born out of the act, would provide opportunities — work and education included — to their respected shareholders, who are mostly rural Alaskans. This concept has not fully been realized.”

The state vocational school is pushing everyone that they can into extended training programs for the gas line project (not likely to be up an running anytime soon). They do everything they can to discourage kids with learning issues, and I could write a book about how the native kids experiences in these programs are horrendous. There a several training programs for fishing processing, some even run by the state, but if we try to get funding from Dept. of Voc Rehab, they don’t want the kids to do those programs because the industry is “seasonal”. It’s enough to to make me run screaming off into the sunset. Do these state zombies really believe that these village kids are going to embrace the discrimination, the confusion, the heartbreak of leaving their families and support systems only to become 2nd class workers in the eyes of the oil companies anyway?

I find it fascinating as one Palin-gate connects to another. I have a gut feeling this tangled web will continue to unravel, especially if documentation, such as emails and meeting schedules come to light.
Not always illegal perhaps, but certainly unethical, dishonest and frankly unnecessary.
The parallels between the original “gate” and this one continue to amaze me. How one lie leads to another and another and another…and only then becomes a BIG deal.
Both have their distrust and hatred of the media also.
Nixon had Woodward & Bernstein and the lone MSM Washington Post dogging him.
Palin has the Anonymous Bloggers dogging her, but seems to have Alaska’s MSM in her pocket.
It took the Supreme Court to get the tapes from Nixon, it may take the Court to get the emails from Palin. (I wonder how many have inadvertently been erased by now?)
The heat needs to be kept on all her “gates” until some courts, legislators, prosecutors or main stream media jump out of her pocket and join in the investigation.

Cookies huh? The thing that gets me, is when she has her loyal fanbase supporting her, she feeds them moosemeat. i.e. when greta flew up to interview her she had a huge pot of moosemeat on.

not long ago, the indigenous people suffered mass relocations, if she honestly knew anything about her husbands culture, she would know that most native people are tied to the land. But, during these times of ‘relocation’ which was devastating-the political leaders would sometimes show an act of kindness. I believe she is following in this type of leadership.

It isnt one of respect for the human in a native, but very patronizing to that native. Given the challenge of dealing with dental health, cookies does more harm then good. It might have been something she thought of because a reporter asked her what are you doing personally?. But, it might have been better to bring fruit, or something with nutritional value. I will give her credit for this. But, ever hear the expression Day late a dollar short? :|

Did Palin ever get the copies of the emails to the people? So much info huh?

Well, I finally viewed the video of Mr. Tucker talking with that GINO. I really doubt that GINO would have given him the time of day had the camera not been watching. She slipped away as quickly as possible. And Parnell asking about being a blogger…yep, their looking for all us bloggers, no doubt. That is one thing I noticed about that GINO…she always wants to know “who said that.”

    OT —

When do children become representatives of an elected office?

How can the State of Alaska condone taking a child out of school for the purpose of promoting the state’s business?

It is quite understandable that a parent would want to take a child to a fun and age appropriate event. But what should be disturbing is a parent who believes the rest of the parents should pay the expenses; to an event their own children did not have the privilege.

That GINO should pay all monies back to the state for all family members expenses, except that one GINO. That GINO was unfortunately elected governor, not that GINO’s family.

Guess that GINO sees herself as a queen.

Had a thought…what if the Dude is really the one who is running the state and his wife is the one that plays the image and that works the deals, the mouthpiece? After all, Dude, AIP, took a leave of absence from his job when his wife was elected governor. Yep, he is that wizard behind that curtain!

I hadn’t heard miss sarah had pets!……..I wonder what other life lessons Chuck showed Sarah and what she may have taken away from them, I also wonder how she feels about her father enriching her childhood, lol………

Actually Sarah probably has a deep seated fear and paranoia of animals, kill them before they get you…….growing up with all those silent animal reminders on the walls, lol…..grrr baracudda, pit bull, grizzly…….scary, get em.

    I played around with it………..

a boa constrictor, that explains alot, lol, learned stealth slithering, sneaking up, quietly getting close, wrapping around prey, paitently waiting for them to move, make a mistake or gasp for air to squeeze the breath out of victims, eating them, then shedding skin to grow bigger.

the turtle, learned to pull her head in, hunker down, clam up, wait for danger to pass, tough outer shell, progresses along and wins the race, wonder if it was a snapping turtle, lol, heck they can take a finger or toe off, they hang on too!

the skunk, defend thyself, spray attackers, deflect to avoid the situation, no one see’s the skunk go on it’s merry way, just leaves the fool attacker smellin bad and no one wants to be around a stinker.

this is from the Alaska magazine interview feb. 08…………

“They had to go do these things because they had to go with me,” Chuck Heath says.

“Enjoying the outdoors and making the most of it is what you do in Alaska. Alaska is a participant-type sport place, not a spectator-type place.”

Around the room is more evidence of a lively childhood. Stuffed birds, mounted animal heads and bear hides cover the walls. On every shelf and tabletop is some sort of Alaska artifact—mammoth teeth, tusks from a steppe bison, fossils and rocks of various sizes.

“Near the back doorway are two giant, dried-out snakeskins hanging the length of the doorway. The Heaths had boa constrictors during Sarah’s childhood, a fact the girls in the family were never too thrilled with, Chuck points out.

“Remember that turtle, too, that we had?” Palin says. “It disappeared and we never found it again. I wonder what happened to it?”

Then there was the albino skunk, yet another of Heath’s specimens used for science lessons during his years as a teacher.

Perhaps when you grow up in a household knowing anything is possible—one day it’s a skunk, the next a 9-foot snake—you grow up knowing no limits. It’s a trait Palin has
carried with her to Alaska politics.”

I also had to throw mothballs under the house as they were trying to nest there! But that smell is better than skunk anyday! I’ve gone through cans of “oust” and “febree” lol!

No, just to clarify…NO Book flu here. I’ll let others suffer and continue to get my news about her on the web where it is free and she (or her “team”) gain no monetary value due to me.
Even in the dislike of her, she garners too much attention and she is just narcissistic enough that like a spoiled child, ANY attention is good, even if it is negative.
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, every time someone imitates her, mimics her (makes fun of her) or gives her any public play, they are feeding the Beast.
Besides, making fun of her and speaking like her is dangerous to your brain cells. Imagine if every time you talked like her, you lost 5% of your logical brain…scary huh?
Thanks for the well wishes, it has been a tough one but I would still take this over her book fever any day.

here-in-PA In the Doyon Corporation in Alaska, you have full membership if you are 1/4 native. You are called a descendant if you have less, but you do get a BIA card to be used at the native health centers. My grandchildren in Washington have cards and they are only 1/32 but you have to go to the reservation health clinic. Alaska is a lot different than the lower 48, because they don’t have reservations.

My dog has been sprayed by skunks soooo many times. Unless you have the anti-skunk stuff on hand and at the ready, your dog will stink for months, especially when it rains.

And what’s the deal with the Heath family not having “normal” pets? A 7 foot long snake? Are you kidding me? A turtle (I love their goofy faces though)?
These are not “pets.” “Pets” are something you can pet.

I am a doyon shareholder, my grandchildren are 1/16th and cannot get BIA cards, I get my own health insurance because there are no Indian Health Services anywhere near where I live. Also, too, (lol), when I lived in the state of NY, I tried to use an Indian health services at the onondaga rez. and they told me that I had to be from that tribe in order to use it. When I told my sister, she got PO’d. I called the BIA in DC and theres lots of red tape involved. So, I just work for my own health insurance.

I mean if you are not at home to take care of your pets BECAUSE you are “On the road again” (Willie singing) doing the business of the state , doesn’t it stand to reason that the state MUST cover that. I believe Sarah should call it “petdiem”

Austintx-I don’t think GINO and FAMILY have pets..! People who have pets have compassion and caring, GINO want dominion over all things living, and the earth, oil, mining etc.
I real wish she would just sacrifice herself and her “Servant’s heart” to Mt. Redoubt and maybe that would stop it from erupting!!!

Really, the Heath family had a skunk when GINO was a kid? Huh, I thought they were illegal to own in the State of Alaska, because they’re not a native species (and therefore would be invasive). Because there are no native reptiles here in AK I think it’s legal to own them, as long as you don’t ever release them, but I was pretty sure it was illegal to own skunks. (If not, I’m gonna get me one!)

Below is a comment from ADN article………I’m thinkin we need to do some delving into Joe Schmidt’s political ties…….I simply cannot understand “why” Palin would select this certain person to take over the gov or lite gov position if need be…….WHY? it’s just flat out weird.

I got thinking more about this last night after watching a news media coverage about the drug lord battles escalating in Mexico……and ties in US, including AK………ties including money, guns and drugs.

It’s really bad! The corruption in Mexican government and law enforcement is so huge its growing worse rapidly, becoming accepted as a way of life. Thousands of people are being executed by these thugs, they showed something like 11 police officers laying on the ground, murdered, decapitated as a “message” don’t mess with the drug lords. pitiful! people suspected as informants, the same, whole families murdered and put on public display, hung in the open to show what will happen. Mexican mafia gone rampant, over drug smuggling, gun selling and buying, money funneling, arg!

We should be very worried about this people. There are things going on around us, in our country that need to be exposed, the sooner the better.

There has to be US people involved, working with these drug lords, in airports, shipping, border control points, private planes, hangers, politicians, law enforcement, and yes, prisons, where is the heroin coming from in AK, it’s now becoming the lead drug to abuse in AK, meth has become harder to make, oxycontin is expensive…….all are addictive creating a vicious cycle to fund and get.

Alaskans seem to have a lot of unwatched freedom with so much private plane travel…….it’s easy to think much can be smuggled in or out………do they ever sweep these planes or hangers. Todd has his plane parked outside their house, how many others do the same?

It’s just unsettling……I know i’m not articulating this very well. But I don’t trust all the corruption in AK, so few people and so much crime…….not slamming all the good people of AK or your beautiful state, but I am worried about what goes on up there. You guys have got to watch every move by politicians, every appointment made, don’t just read articles and think nothing more, listen to the watchdogs! Thank goodness someone is interested in paying attention and connecting the dots.

this article seems nothing big on the surface, but read this comment and how much deeper and wider it goes…….read his/her last sentence…….think Bill Allen, felons, corrections, Joe Schmidt, Palin puppet, drugs, guns, money, Mexico mafia?

    thank goodness for comment areas!

Immigration administrator guilty of hiring unqualified personnel

TACOMA, Wash. — A former administrator at a privately run immigration lockup in Tacoma won’t serve any jail time after she admitted hiring guards without background checks to speed up the process.

fsmith wrote on 03/02/2009 00:48:29 AM:

Wong worked for GEO Group which has had a highly questionable past. Known previously as Wackenhut, with felons Bill Weimar and Bill Allen, they tried to build a for-profit prison on 40 acres of city property in South Anchorage, with the help of Eldon Mulder. ADN 3/28/96

GEO has been outed for overcharging the state of Florida for millions of dollars and for offering the then-current Director of Prisons in Colorado about a million dollars if he could get a prison built for them. They lost a wages and hours suit in California for $10 million where they were also made illegal campaign contributions. They hired drunken driver who killed another motorist in Texas. He left GEO to become warden of a CCA prison in Eloy, Arizona, where Alaska sends it inmates. GEO was indicted for murder as a result of inmate deaths in Texas where their prison

So the prosecutors’ question should have been, did Wong hire illegal guards entirely of her own volition, or at GEO’s direct or implied orders?

Palin doesn’t have pets now, at least I don’t think so……my post was pointing out what she grew up with, her dad was a science (I think) teacher, he had animals around the house used as teaching aids.

I was pokin fun at how these things may have formed our sick Sarah’s psyche and thought processes in order to explain what we seem to have today.

Dogs and skunks……..what works for me is cheap tomato juice, works wonders, the acid must neutralize the spray somehow, just pour it on, rub it in, let it sit a while, then hose off, redo if necessary……but, I’ve always applied it right away, I don’t know about weeks or days later……crystalwolf……I’d try drenching the ground area with juice.

Hey, maybe GINO knows, lol or call Chuck, lol.

Those who disrespect Gov. Palin are only disrespecting themselves. If there were a compilation (and there may be somewhere) of all the unprecedented vitriolic slander directed at this absolutely charming intelligent and RESPECTFUL woman, it would deserve a place of honor in a Hall Of Shame.
I have come to the conclusion that certain types of people need scapegoats and sacrificial victims to satisfy some kind of atavistic sadism that compels them to attack what is beautiful and good. Any NORMAL human being, would be able to see that Sarah Palin is a down to earth good person and agree or disagree with her policies and positions, afford the high respect that is her DUE, that she DESERVES, for her honest work on behalf of the American People and her lifelong efforts to live in a loving, intelligent and moral life..
