Corrupt Bastardette to Plead Guilty. Here We Go Again.

11 03 2009

After Senator John Cowdery’s sentencing yesterday, it seemed….well….awfully quiet.  Traffic on the Corrupt Bastards Highway seemed mighty slow, and there didn’t seem to be anything coming down the Pike.

But that was yesterday.  Today, a brand new Corrupt Bastard emerges.  Or, shall I say “Corrupt Bastardette”?  And she’s a Republican (Gasp!) from the Valley (double Gasp!) named Beverly Masek. (awwwww…..)

masek

Masek, a Republican from Willow who represented the Matanuska-Susitna area between 1995 and 2004, was accused by the Justice Department of accepting at least $4,000 from former Veco Corp. chief executive Bill Allen in 2003.

In return for the money, she killed an oil tax bill she had introduced after Allen told her it was “harmful” to his oil industry clients, according to the charges.

Masek is scheduled to enter her guilty plea tomorrow morning before U.S. District Judge Ralph Beistline. Under the plea deal filed with the charges, she faces a prison sentence of 18 to 24 months and a fine of $4,000 to $40,000.

She will enter her plea of “guilty” tomorrow morning before U.S. District Judge Ralph Beistline, the same guy who sentenced Senator John Cowdery yesterday.  I think he’s having a “theme week”.

Will Masek get six months hanging out at home on the Barcalounger, in front of the big screen TV like Cowdery?  I’m guessing not.  But you just never know with Corrupt Bastards Theatre.

So, time to melt the butter, pop the corn and settle in for the next Act, entitled “Here We Go Again.”

That’s discriminatory! The guys were offered $25K, one over $250K and she gets offered 4K???

Seriously, her lawyer should have had her plead not guilty, how can a court link a $4K to the voting against a bill harmful to oil companies had she denied all??? Proof? Her lawyer discriminated, also. Cheap and not a very good one, obviously. Not that I condone such behaviour, but…makes one think.

Comparing punishments, I’d say she should serve 1 day of community service at the local Starbucks and a $1.35 fine. lol

    Sorry, that’s justice? HA!

    Mush, indeed.

Yeah, I agree with the Feathered Serpent Quetzal… why is a bastardette mezzanine goods and the bastards are top-notch? Besides, if you’re gonna be corrupt, at least do it with panache. 4K isn’t hardly worth the trouble.

personally, i think it would be outrageous and unfair for her to receive a greater sentence than cowdery.

my guess is that the unfortunate ms. masek fell in with bad company when she joined the GOP. giving her a more harsh sentence than the operators of the system of graft is a sop to public morality and does nothing to stop corruption.

age should not be an excuse to avoid an appropriate prison sentence.

cowdery claims both he has ill health and shouldn’t go to jail but he’s well enough to be chauffeuring his wife around — and uses that as another excuse. if he has enough money to pay for four grandchildren to go to college, he has enough money that his wife could hire a driver while he was in prison.

this rewarding crooks because they managed to avoid justice for multiple decades really has to stop.

i don’t know ms. masek but, from her picture, she looks like a nice person. her humiliation from this will be more significant in her life than cowdery’s — his family and friends will never admit he did anything wrong at all. $4,000 is probably a far more significant loss to her finances than $25,000 to Cowdery. i would imagine she has learned a good lesson already and doubt that the public need fear ms. masek getting involved in republican high jinx again.

i hope her lawyer is able to argue her time down significantly below 18 months.

i hope the probation office keeps very close tabs on cowdery and violates him when he steps out of line — which you know he will do.

karen marie – re: probation office……..if I lived in Cowdery’s vicinity , I would have the probation office phone # progammed in my camera cell phone……….if he was anywhere but home – take picture – speed dial !!!

I’m hoping that she won’t get a worse sentence than Cowdery did but I wouldn’t be surprised if they sent her to jail. After all, she’s a woman and women who commit crimes are just more criminal than men. Look at the sentence Martha Stewart served – how many men did that much crime for the same?

D’oh… that should have read “how many men did that much time for the same crime?” Dang, I do need another cup of coffee!
