Bob Poe…a Political Sorbet After a Bad Helping of Palin.
One can only take so much Sarah Palin. And this week, she’s just plain ticked me off. So, I’m going to enjoy this Friday evening with a little “political sorbet” to cleanse the palate from a big fat indigestion-inducing overload of the current governor. The flavor? Bob Poe.
When Sarah Palin makes me feel like my head is going to explode, it’s always good news for Bob Poe. If you are not familiar with Mr. Poe, he will be running against Palin for governor in 2010, should she choose to seek that office again. She may take the “Go straight to the Presidential campaign. Do Not Pass Go. Do collect $11 million from a book deal” option. We can’t be sure.
Nevertheless, I sat this morning with my first cup of coffee, and my bowl of oatmeal, and I listened to Bob Poe on KUDO 1080am. At one point, I put the spoon down, and closed my eyes and just imagined, “This is my governor….” Wow. It was quite a shock to the system. I mean: well versed on the issues, intelligent, funny, informed, energeic, savvy, cultured yet down-to-earth… and wait til you hear this!
He said he “really likes blog discussions.” My eyes popped open. Did I drift off and imagine that in my reverie? Nope. He really said it. He went on to say that a recent study had shown that 70% of Americans trust what they hear from an individual or a friend, more than what they hear from the media. So…on the chance that a certain someone may be reading, everybody all together….wave madly at Bob Poe!! [We all wave madly at Bob Poe].
And just in case you were wondering what might have happened if Bob Poe had been the one on the receiving end of Katie Couric’s “gotcha” question about what he reads every day, I have a partial answer.
The Atlantic Monthly and The Economist.
Nice.
Now granted, he still has a long way to go to read as much as Sarah. She reads “umm…all of them,” if you recall. But I’m sure he’ll be able to catch up if he tries real hard.
In the meantime, if you want to learn more about Bob Poe, click HERE or visit the “I Know Bob Poe” Facebook page.

Bet he reads the NYT also.too.
Yippee! First! Bob Poe for governor!!! Go get SP and knock her socks off!
I know Bob Poe , and I like him!
Well, second is good. Alaska, it’s your call. Vote for Bob Poe for Governor. Someone that is actually qualified. Band together and get that cretin GINO out of office.
I don’t know Bob Poe…and I like him. Nice flavor of clear articulation!
Thanks for sharing, AKM .
Thanks, AKM….I needed something to get the Gino out of my mind, refreshing to see a good guy in AK, I knew you had em, just didn’t see too many in the news lately.
*waving madly*
then going to bed…. I”m 5 hours ahead of you all! G’nite.
::::waving at Bob Poe:::::
So I guess Bob’s comment about blogs would indicate that he can and does actually read? That’s a refreshing change!!
Will he care for my habitat and the habitat of all my relations??
It would be nice if you could get a qualified person to be your governor. Someone who puts the needs of the people of Alaska First. Keep up the good work AKM
@Ripley in CT (AKA Jill) (16:56:18) :
5 hours ahead of us? Really? Shouldn’t it just be 4, or does CT get its own time zone now that it’s out ahead of the rest of us in promoting GINO for 2012?
You’ll have to forgive the connecticutie, InJuneau, cuz they take nutmeg in their coffee… and you know know how nuttie meg is.
Imagine, a Governor who can actually speak in real sentences! Been hearing him on Cary Carrigan’s radio show often lately. Articulate, intelligent, can answer caller questions and actually has some solutions in mind for some of the big issues facing this state. ………………….
Bet he wont wink at his opponent during debate either. Also.
> Waving!< even though I’m not exactly IN AK…
Yay for bloggers, pj’s or not.
The “Angels” drink 5 hr.Energy drinks to keep that edge.
oh my goodness — just took a look at bobpoe(dot)com. Holy cow! Talk about a contrast with the current administration!
This guy has a head for *business*. Wow, sure would be nice to see around this state.
@Moose Pucky: I share your concerns. It sounds like this guy would like you.
Well I’m awake! But I’m a bit of a night owl… It’s not even 10:30 yet!
AKM – Coffeemaker is BROKEN?!? Oh NOOOOOOO!!!!
Ah, you must be in Facebook World! Yes, it is broken. I’ve been trying to do it the old fashioned way by balancing a filter on my mug and pouring boilnig water on a little heap of coffee grounds. After pouring the boiling water on my hand by accident, and shouting a long stream of four letter words, I’m going to get myself out this weekend to get another one. AKM
How nice to hear that intelligence could come back into vogue (along with honesty and ethics).
The second I hear GINO’s running for gov against him I will donate some “bling”(a repub word,lol) since I can’t vote for him!
If palin feels she has no chance to win another term, then we’re stuck with her running for Prez…there’s no way she’s going to go away silently.
SOMEONE in Hollywood, please offer her big bucks to be another Paris Hilton or offer her a movie deal or SOMETHING she can’t refuse…to get her out of politics once and FOR ALL!
OT OT……..Mackey has a huge lead. He’s flying. Cooling temps mean hard crust, fast moving. Way exciting!!
Lainey – during the campaign she got offered 2 mil. to do an x-rated video. seriously. I still don’t know how anyone came up with the figure of 11 mil. for her book. Does it come with platinum and diamond crusted crayons ?? We know the story , and it ain’t pretty……..
@Crystalwolf aka caligrl
You and me both!
caligrl and Nan – right behind you !! I think it will be amazing how much $$ and support will come to Mr.Poe.

Did you read the ‘Onion’ interview with Mackey’s new dog? There’s a link at the ADN sports page, it’s very funny.
I met Bob Poe this past weekend at a meet & greet in Homer. While he is certainly a refreshing change from Palin – I was not happy about his views concerning Pebble Mine and climate change. Still, probably someone who will listen to reason.
…nothing against bloggers – since I can’t vote – I’m open to donating some bling too!
@ InJuneau (17:11:53) :
Parts of CT are something of a time warp now, since the formation of the antigreymatterPAC ….. but the black holes are destined to remain few and far between – and, anyway, science is s*xy again.
If the delusional Palin runs for president – I can hardly wait for the debates with Obama and the other candidates!
Then again, if she runs again for Governor, I can hardly wait for her to debate Poe and the other candidates, also.
This is gettin’ good, yup yup.
@Aussie Blue Sky
I just learned today that there is a Missouri branch of maeT haraS!!!!!!! I’m living in a black hole! (with over 100 members, also too – Auugh!)
Are we implying that ‘The Economist’ is NOT one of ‘all of them’ that have been in front of Palin all these years, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media?
In all fairness, ‘The Economist’ (Palin probably thinks it’s a Wal-Mart air freshener) is a pretty dull ‘read’!
About that “reads…um…all of them” Sarah Palin inimitable quote, who knew that Sarah Palin was actually a BOOKWORM in her youth?
She apparently was a lot of things then that she sure doesn’t seem to be now. “Shy, reserved, unassuming…timid….disciplined, determined, goal oriented, unflinchingly upbeat, and even a natural leader at times…[a] geeky/jock girl…soft-spoken, unobtrusive, agreeable…”
These descriptions which seem to describe someone else entirely are in what basically is a complete re-write in capsule form of that Lorenzo Benet bio of Palin. It was written by “R.A. Mansour”, who compares Palin to 1) Ronald Reagan, and 2) Joan of Arc.
I found it not at TeamSarah, but at that other lavishly doting every-day paean to Palin, C4P. Reading the whole thing gave me a splitting headache…
@KaJo
It sounds like Nancy Drew’s bashful friend, Beth: a paragon of feminine virtue.
going to wash out my mouth now.

Awww, BigPete, I don’t think The Economist” is a dull read. Maybe parts, but on the whole, pretty entertaining. I like their nasty/ smiley humour, especially the editorial section.
Kajo:

this is “ramrocks” from C4P! She called you a “truther” the other night about your comment on TS in Alaska dispatch. She is now going by her/his real name b/c she/he got a radio interview. Get this, her grandparents are of Arab descent. I wonder how she/he take to being called a Muslim?
Nan, are you going to make every last one of them pay for MO being a red State now?
You could take away their booze, for a start …….
“Bob Poe campaigns in Homer”
Poe describes himself as a fiscal conservative who only recently declared himself a Democrat after years as a non-partisan.
Raised in a suburb outside St. Louis, Mo., Bob Poe earned a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance. He earned his tuition by teaching anthropology classes, a field he also loved yet believed would not earn him a living. His mother was a school teacher, while his father trained in dentistry. Earlier in his career, Poe’s dad had to give up the field when he went temporarily blind.
While working for the firm Price Waterhouse, Poe came to Juneau on a two-year assignment in 1981 to help set up the state’s computer accounting system. He was 26 years old, had made a hobby of mountain climbing and once encountering Alaska “never wanted to go back.”
Since that time, he’s occupied positions for four Alaska governors, headed up the Alaska Industrial Development Energy Authority and was a state director for international trade. More recently, Poe was president of the Anchorage Economic Development Corp. He currently is a business consultant in Anchorage.
Poe is married to Terzah Poe, who is a member of the Inupiaq community in Barrow and the Brower family. They have no children.

@Aussie
Nah, not the booze; just the KoolAid
Good grief, who knew that Poe was raised in St Louis!
OTOH, that’s just St Louis… the town with the memorial to them that left town (the Arch – “Gateway to the West”)
Oh, hope I didn’t offend any Middle easterners, what I meant was how mccain/palin campaign was trying to paint PO as muslim=bad, now this person who’s grandparents are ME, how would she/he like to be “put in a box” and made to feel bad for their ethnicity? And she/he is one of the Big supporters of GINO on C4P.
@crystalwolf aka caligrl
I think I knew what you meant, but I’m glad you clarified it. Beyond that, I’m hittin’ the sack. lol
Sort of OT:
I read the last AKM post, which I had read on the Dispatch-I have three good friends that I clued in to Alaskan blogs, like Mudflats. Anyway, three had planned a trip this summer to Alaska, totaling 70 people; they read about the Game Commission’s decisions- and now they are going to Canada instead. So Alaska just lost 70 tourists and all their money; not a huge number, but I’m betting this will snowball.
I’d like to know Poe’s position on the changes-
Hummm this Poe sounds like he could be a good contender. I sure hope someone, somewhere, somehow can get GINO OUT of here!
You know if this were anybody else I might be inclined to think he was just pandering to the pajama clad crowd. But Bob Poe was my first ever political interview and he was was VERY impressive.
I have no idea who else might come out of he woodwork to challenge Bob Poe for the Governorship, but they will have their work cut out for them to be any more impressive.
And Sarah? Well she should just pack it in now, because she is COMPLETELY outmatched.
@ CO almost native (19:38:13) :
I know what you mean. How safe and attractive is the slaughter of over 2,000 bears in one area alone?
Good riddance for a night, SP – so tired, so sick of you.
Hurray for Bob Poe! What I like best so far about Mr. Poe is that I consider him to be a friend to rural Alaska. He has a lot of state admin experience and is quite familiar with the Alaska Native Claims and Settlement Act. This is going to be KEY in helping rural Alaska residents to thrive in the bush (and other remote regions). The corporations are becoming too “white” and many are seeking business opportunities everywhere but inside our state.
I’ll mention this again – the resource development issues in Alaska are far from black and white. There are many rural Alaskans who would like to see real options for mining and other extraction techniques – meaning they want to see some REAL SCIENCE, not just propaganda from those who want development at any cost. We can’t trust this creep of a governor, nor the previous one, to produce meaningful debate on these issues since they are both greedy and ambitious. At least a well informed, well intentioned and open minded leader would be able to help frame these questions and issues in an open and responsible way.
Waving to Mr. Poe from Juneau – hello and welcome!
Hey crystalwolf – no more stomping off, OK?
“If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too…”
R Kipling
oops… “the NATIVE corporations are becoming too white” (probably obvious but needed correction).
Does anyone know Poe’s stance on oil/gas development in Bristol Bay and Pebble Mine? He doesn’t have any position statements on his web site.
But he sure sounds intelligent. What a nice switch that would be — to have a Head of State we can be proud of, instead of ashamed and embarrassed every time She opens her self serving mouth.
okay….what do we say to this…….
Will the real Sarah Palin please stand up

And Kos raves about the ‘flats blog!

longpassages (18:23:34) :
I would lead the pebble partnership on as well if I was GOV. THis is a project which both sides of the issue are in a learning phase. Pebble is spending tens of millions trying to figure out what, how, why, and when. Are communities are rightfully scared of the unknown, but getting prepared for blood as well. Pebble is dancing around on thin ice hoping that time will were down the environmental concerns. They don’t know Homer, or the spirit . Blogging is also a powerful tool for environmental protection/awareness.
Climate change is hug and I’m thankful that OBAMA is top dog leading are nation into cleaner options. Are new GOV will be able to swing our state into more of a sustainable and renewable path. Are Natural gas is Alaska’s ace in the hole. THe GOV can only do so much by there-self, we have a powerful resource extraction economy that is on a downward curve in many respects. Just because we have a greener gov does not mean that the gov. will be successful running are state. It’s a delicate balancing act providing for the needs of the people and planet at the same time.
Alaska is very very blessed to have 93 % of are state government paid for by oil money. We have grown very soft and reliant on this great gift of cash every year to build are schools, parks, ports, Hospitals, roads, and major utility projects. Here in Homer are 50 million dollar High School serves about 400 students! I just herd Fran Ulmer on the radio a few days ago talking about building 2 more UAA college buildings in Anchorage, one building was going to be a new basketball stadium, and the other building was going to be a engineering lab building. She said something about 15 million dollars for sight planing and deign cost for one building and 25 million for sight planning and design cost for the other. WOW!!!!! THats just design and planing cost!! Not construction, staffing, or operations. Alaska is very spoiled with our oil wealth, we have be living very large!
So in conclusion, I feel like rejoicing with BOb Poe taking on GINO!!!! This is a new page in the history books of Alaskan politics. GO POE GO!!
I think Rob Rosenfield is going to give Bob a run for his money with the primary . Rob is also a serious candidate and posses a very inspiring auditory authority on environmental issues. The debates are going to be hot!

Hi Bob! Hey, I have an idea–Mudflats should have a pajama party for Bob. He could come in his jammies, too, and you could all have a lovely discussion about the Atlantic, and the Economist, and you could run a poll, and we out of staters would could not attend could vote for him, over, and over, and over again, also in our pajamas. And by the time he went home you would all be in a lovely state of bonhomie, and Mr. Poe would be yours, YOURS, I say, putty in your hands, to be molded, spindled, and mutiliated into whatever gubernatorial form seemed most salubrious at the time. Surely that’s a worthy cause.
(YES, Thesaurus Woman strikes again, and I did it all out of my own pointed little head.)
That should have been “we out-of-staters who could not attend…” I was carried away by the flow of my own rhetoric.

RE: COFFEE
The ol’ fashioned way of cooking it works the best when you don’t have other means. Throw the grounds in a pot (w/water of course), bring it just to boiling, and simmer for a few minutes. Put a few tablespoons of COLD water in it – and let it sit. This will settle the grounds to the bottom. Keep it warm on your woodstove or oil heater. (And then, if you must, you can filter it as desired!)
Anyone ever make Norwegian coffee with whole eggs? eggshells and all? That’s how we always did it for church dinners!
AKM, just in case you don’t make it to the store this weekend or for future reference, make yourself some cowboy coffee. It’s great as long as you don’t drink it to the last drop!

@ Women Who Run With The Wolves
Mr. Poe responds to inquiries made via his website (imagine THAT!). If we don’t get a meet and greet in SE in the next few months, then one of us can most certainly ask him via email! It seems he actually LIKES talking to potential constituents and even answers tough questions. You wouldn’t think asking if the Gov would be living in Juneau is a tough question – but after SP (oh doesn’t THAT sound nice!), an approachable, reasonable politician who understands where their duty station is located would be a treat! I drive by the Gov’s mansion several times a week – and it’s like a tomb. There is even a light timer going to make it look like somebody’s home after the staff leaves for the day. Like the trampoline last summer – tried to make the place lived in, but the locals know better – esp. the neighbors (I’ve spoken with several of them).
Funny thing – I can’t see SP moving anywhere out of Wasilla to take another job.

Is coffee ever OT?
In the distant past, I’ve used a small funnel, the cut-off top of a 2-liter soda bottle, and a small mesh strainer to hold the coffee filter.
The funnel I used was too small. (Four-letter words DID come into play, I admit!), the soda bottle kinda’ melted, but it worked well enough for an improv. The strainer worked surprisingly well.
Then I found one of these: wwwDOTcoffeedetectiveDOTcom/one-cup-coffee-makerDOThtml Very handy to have on hand during power-outages!

Did we all forget how Palin CONTROLS debates. She speaks of those topics that SHE likes…..forget the moderator.. She speaks to ALL of us. Alaska there is hope for you. Sounds like Poe may be your sunshine on the horizon. I hope. No way can I stand to watch and listen to Palin in another round of debates.
And, by the way, did Palin “move” to Juneau for the current legislative session???? Maybe the heat from here got too HOT???? Just wondering.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I finally got around to reading Ms Rebecca Mansour aka ramrocks tribute to GINO. I read after breakfast what a mistake, almost lost (breakfast)
several things stood out (not to mention this person is in a completely surreal world!)
“She ran her guts out” hmmm, where have we heard THAT one before…
She grew up in Wasilla at a time when hunting and fishing were the only way to sustain oneself…?(1969 Wasilla anyone?)
“From the time she was in elementary school, [Palin] consumed newspapers with a passion. “She read the paper from the very top left hand corner to the bottom right corner to the very last page,” said [her sister] Molly. “She didn’t want to miss a word. She didn’t just read it — she knew every word she had read and analyzed it.” I find this very hard/impossible to believe!
And the drivel goes on, but this stood out:
The City of Wasilla had been talking about building an indoor sports complex for years. In a state that loves sports, the winter months are limiting. But what private company would invest money in something like that for such a remote city? No one. It was something the community would have to do themselves if they really wanted it. Palin got it on the ballot and convinced voters to temporarily increase their sales tax to pay for it. There were twists and turns to the sports complex saga, but it did get built. And the community loves it. And every year it gets closer to paying for itself.
Huh? Isn’t it a huge sinkhole that they are fighting lawsuits against?
Read at your own risk, of laughing too hard, barfing up your breakfast, getting a headache like Kajo…. @ C4P
Just curious, since Gino made a big deal about her working in Juneau during this legislative session…..right.
@ Say NO to Palin in Politics
If I were in Anchorage I sure would attend your Town Hall Meeting. Protecting our Wild Salmon is very much a priority and yes, Bristol Bay is very important to us down here in Southeast Alaska. In fact, keeping our stocks healthy and plentiful benefits the whole State, not only our Coastal communities. If they can get an inch in harming the plentiful wild salmon, then the feds will be and are working on bringing in offshore fish farms. Have you seen the pics. of the oil platforms that they are proposing to use for offshore aquaculture in Alaska’s federal waters?
Our Senators in D.C. need to start leaning very hard on our government to go after the foreign high sea factory Trawlers. They are tied in to part of the problem of the poor fishing season out west in the villages. It’s one of the long term solutions that the villages need to address when looking for ideas on preparing for next winter. We will find large net markings on our salmon down here in Southeast that are from Foreign factory trawlers. As well as funky farmed salmon.
(wave to Mr. Poe!)… The only critique I have after watching him speak once, is if he could get his talking points more memorized, so he doesn’t have to rely on his notes, it would seem more authentic from his heart. I understand- I hate being on camera live, I rely on notes, because I get brain fog as soon as the camera is on me. My suggestion is to talk out loud a lot, over and over, at home until it becomes second nature.
@ Women Who Run With The Wolves
That’s the rumor, and they are probably there – but there is little life to the place. Before the session started the lights were definitely on a timer, same lights, same time every day after staff left. Guess they don’t like it much since there is no dead lake to look at – our lakes are alive and well thank you very much! It’s a beautiful mansion, I’ve always loved it. It’s in a very nice neighborhood, and super close to the Capitol Bldg as you know.
No way the Dud will show his face much at the Capitol after being slapped w/ contempt by the Legislature. Too many eyes watching him come and go from the Gov’s office – he won’t be able to get away with that one anymore in Juneau. However, when the she-witch/twit goes back home, I’m sure he’ll be a semi-permanent fixture there again since she has a hand picked staff at the Anchorage office and I doubt those folks question anything.
OT OT OT IDITAROD!
Lance Mackey still in the lead, w/ Jeff King closing! Go dogs! Gorgeous, beautiful, strong, amazing and smart dogs!
Hey, AKM, check out Bob Poe’s latest twitter. It’s about Mudflats and your seeing him as sorbet!
Sorry if someone has already pointed that out, but I just skimmed the comments – I haven’t had my tea yet and if I read everything I’ll be here till lunch time.
Aaah! So he is wily too!
“The City of Weasel had been talking about building an indoor sports complex for years. In a state that loves sports, the winter months are limiting. But what private company would invest money in something like that for such a remote city? No one. It was something the community would have to do themselves if they really wanted it. Palin got it on the ballot and convinced voters to temporarily increase their sales tax to pay for it. There were twists and turns to the sports complex saga, but it did get built. And the community loves it. And every year it gets closer to paying for itself”
Developing private sector sport facility in Alaska is politically very hard! Are schools have sports programs wrapped up with there state built hi dollar facilities for the most part. So if you develop a private sector sports program you will compete directly with the school programs. Guess what? Are school systems and towns with sport programs don’t want competition with private sector or higher level sporting programs, that the kids would drop out of public school programs to attend. The schools love the control over the students.
( Johnie has to get at least a D on his report card or he can’t go out and bash heads on the football team or check players with their hockey sticks.) We don’t encourage private sector for-profit sporting business. Hi dollar Hockey rinks get lots of $ from the school systems for ice time, city and state grants, or in Gino’s rushed case, a $15,000,000. bond for the over priced, poorly planned, and lawsuit loosing GINO project.
Just developing soccer in Alaska was not easy, because of our pro football, basketball, hockey, baseball, track, and old school fundamental administration that doesn’t like change, or to have students switch playing traditional American sport, to playing the beautiful game.
@ Say NO to Palin in Politics….Montana! You also have a very beautiful State. I was hiking outside Missoula last Summer, up around the Seeley (sp) Lake area.
She-Witch/Twit!!! That’s a good one. The Mansion is in a very nice area of town,
I have never been in the mansion and once we have a new Governor, I may just have to check it out one of these days. As long as Queen Taliban She-Witch Gino is in office, I will steer clear until she has melted….anyone have a bucket of water to throw on her? Maybe she will melt like the wicked witch in the Wizard of Oz. Snark.
Whoops! Alright, I got my State confused. MO is Missouri. Maybe I need another cup of coffee.
Thanks for that report, longpassages.
Nice Kipling quote, Martha Unalaska.
Yeah, she convinced them and she wanted a new house out of the deal…
Who’s the money behind the sports complex besides the bond? Who REALLY wanted the sport complex?
Thanks for your report Team Alaska
Damn! the hubris of that woman. Still, it will be fun watching the other repubs squish her. She just doesn’t learn, does she. On what planet does she think she is up to the job?.
Begich met with President Obama, urged oil and gas exploration, missle launch site and tourism? He might want to have a chat with Palin on that tourism and wolf/bear killin thing.
Begich meets with Obama at White House
WASHINGTON — Sen. Mark Begich pushed for increased oil and gas drilling and continued development of an Alaska-based missile defense system today as he met with President Barack Obama in the Oval Office.
Begich, an Alaska Democrat, was one of four Democratic senators invited by the White House to meet with Obama to discuss the federal budget and other issues.
The meeting was closed to the press, but Begich, a proponent of the oil and gas industry, said he pressed for increased drilling and missile defense during the 45-minute session with Obama.
has anyone asked Poe how he feels about the predator control issue? If the state voted against it twice but the 2 previous govs overturned it, seems to me he’d be safe coming out against it. Guess which 2 govs are in the hunting and NRA pockets……..there could be some good dirt here.
Good grief……the the palinbots are spinning new foul propoganda on Obama……….
this is from the comment section on the Begich article…….already they’re trying to protect the “reputations” of the corrupt bastards that are gonna get busted for breaking the law. Something could be brewing?
I’ve read Mexico is wanting some US legal action on the drug war high ups US dirty politicians. This could get messy. I don’t know if the commenter is referring to AK borders or US/Mexico borders. It could go either way, in the CNN report on Mexican drug cartel they said it reached as far as Anchorage, AK.
“His justice department is beginning politically-motivated investigations of local law enforcement who are simply enforcing our immigration laws.”
My Apologies!!
i copied the FEC site & info from another blog, and posted BEFORE checking it out.
I find no evidence of GINO registering for 2012 Presidential campaign…but maybe my efforts to search are faulty. If someone lse can verify, i would be appreciative.
BTW, good work AKM…I have to check in on Mudflats regularly!! GINO scares me! SOCIOPATH is right!
Women Who Run With The Wolves, yep Montana is very beautiful, my sis lived in Red Lodge for 10 yrs, I visited at least once a year. Missouri is also very beautiful, we live in the Ozarks, I love the trees and gardening! Hate the bugs! We moved here from Colorado in Oct. 05 after Hewlett Packard dumped/outsourced/laid off the hubby after 23yrs.
yep, and now I have to wonder just what little political ties may be behind the “shooting range” (hunters use them for adjusting gun sights) the mayor of Wasilla wants to build, and gee, don’t you think it will come in real handy for all those hunters who want to mass murder wolves and bear? makes ya wonder huh, if that mayor of Weasle (good one! lol) maybe knew the deal was a done deal before it was a deal? things that make ya go hmmm. I thought it was odd it didn’t come from the private sector, but ah ha…..now the city makes the money.
Well ya know, the dud’s fave gun/sport shop has been lobbing for this? Can’t remember their name, but remember reading about it! Is it a done deal then?
Perhaps this should be investigated too?
crystalwolf aka caligrl (10:24:41) :
The sports center is a very nice expensive complex. There was a big need to have a sports/event center for year round use in the valley. THe center was even turned into a Campaign rally center during the last Election. Guess which party was in total controlled of the show?
I’m totally supportive of sports travel and sports tourism for Alaska! I believe that the Wasillia project was kind of excessive in size and scope for the small demographics of the valley. The valley was and is a very fast growing area, that was taken into consideration in the plaining.
We like to live large in Alaska, and to make it worth while going through the political motions of getting a new projects built, with enough cream on the top, that can be directed into perks of some kind, we seem to always go for the largest numbers. Remember we are a rich energy state.
So this was GINO’s crowing jewel to the youth of valley. Thats cool, I like supporting the youth as well. But when MWAC ( Mayor Without A Clue ) is in charge of a small town that is booming at historically rates, allot of normal protocol, get throw under the bus. Especially if MWAC, was in power and her buddies got the bids and repaid there favor with left over materials and labor that were used in GINO’s personal media center/home.
Yes…I’ve seen pics of her/SC windows and they are the same! As well as the balustrade in the complex and GINO’s house. What a coincidence, huh?
So is the shooting range a “done deal”?
I haven’t been fallowing the shooting range issue. But I do know that it will be a done deal for many reasons.
Alaska is gun vill! Are cops need lots of target practice, we have a hug military population and growing militant infrastructure, homeland “serenity” likes to play with guns, and we have all those pesky mammals running around, just begging us to shoot them out of helicopters and airplanes.
I bet you there will be moving targets in this shooting range, and fully automatic assault weapons for rent and sale.
@Women Who Run With The Wolves (07:28:03) :
Yeah, that’s the rumor (that Piper’s in school here in Juneau this semester). Some press release or something said the GINO, Piper, and Trig were living here now. I think you’re on to something about the Dud not coming to town. And there were actually lights on on all three floors of the Mansion this evening when we were returning from the HS musical. Plus, we all know that Bristol and the baby were whisked here the other day, so maybe there actually ARE people living there right now. However, it’s only just over a month till the end of Session, after which I’m sure we’ll be back to lights on timers…
@Moose Pucky (15:50:50) :
Ooo, that sounds like a great idea, but could we just lose her on the way down? I’m not sure I want to subject MT to her…
