Palin Denies Agreeing to Speak at Major GOP Fundraiser. AAUGH!

16 03 2009

lucy

So, the popular girl, the head of the cheer-leading squad made a date with a guy we’ll call Joe, for lack of a better name. Joe Average. He isn’t particularly popular, nor particularly bright, but he really really likes Popular Girl. A lot. He cannot believe she agreed to go out with him, and he was just beside himself.

Then right before the big night, she said she’d have to break the date to the movie because she had lots of homework to do.  He’s upset, but he understands.  Sometimes things just come up… But then he sees Popular Girl at the movie theater, going to another movie with someone else…  He is heartbroken. “She lied to me!” he sobs to his friends. Then he finds out that the same thing happened to a friend of his….”Yeah, man. I asked her out, she said yes and then she like totally blew me off. Lame.”

But time passes and Popular Girl seems to take an interest in Joe Average again.  She passes him notes, and makes eyes at him during class. As much as he wants to resist, she’s just so…energetic, and she’s such a breath of fresh air.

So he finally summons up all his courage and asks her again.  He is stunned when she says “Yes!” This time they’re going out to dinner.  He’s really jazzed.  He can’t believe his luck!  Maybe last time was a fluke.  She likes him after all!  On Cloud 9, he tells all his friends about the big date, he daydreams, he carves their initials on a tree and then……WHAM.  Her best friend comes up to him in the hall at school and says, with her hand on her hip and chewing gum, “Popular girl wants to know why you’ve been telling everyone that she agreed to go out with you. She never said that. Why are you lying about her??”  Poor Joe feels like he’s been punched in the gut.

Yes, you’ve probably figured out this litte parable.  Popular girl is Sarah Palin, and Joe Average is the GOP (played jointly by Sen. John Cornyn and Rep. Pete Sessions).  The friend who got stood up too is CPAC. Oh, and BFF with the gum is Bill McAllister.

First Palin says she can’t speak at the GOP winter retreat because she’s got homework in Alaska, and then shows up that same night at the Alfalfa Club Dinner across town in D.C.  Then she commits to speak at the CPAC convention, confirms and then cancels. Now, she’s all set to deliver the keynote address on June 8 at the Republican Senate-House dinner, it gets announced to the press, and published in all the papers and blogs, and over the airwaves, and then.  Ohhhhhh!   Lucy pulls the football! Again.

Now, if you knew this guy, wouldn’t you just have to let him know that this girl is just messing with his head and he needs to find someone else?  Because frankly, he’s just making an ass of himself.

And with every good story, there must be a moral.

@ InJuneau OT OT OT OT Iditarod

Thank you – I heard it on KTUU but couldn’t find the write up (didn’t help that I was crying!). My own dogs knew that I was sad and I got lots of licks and head bumps. They also told me that they would tell the dogs I was honoring them and their hard work. The rescued musher is a doctor from Wasilla – I hope he’s OK, too. I just have to add, even though I’m OT (is the Iditarod really ever OT in Alaska?), for the readers who think this means those dogs had any regrets, you need to think again.

I inherited a 2 yr old husky who was a “team dropout” from a musher up the road from where I lived – her spirit was huge, but her legs were too short for deep snow. The stories about this dog could take a blog of their own, believe me! She was never happier than when she was running w/ her team. She had the ultimate life in the manner befitting a well loved friend for her 15 years with me – but she never beamed like she did when she was in front of a sled. If you’ve never mushed, handled for a team, been around mushers or races – then you cannot know how much these dogs live and love to run. It was what she loved to do more than anything else in the world.

Martha, Kima’s job in doggie heaven is to lead the mush team that carries new doggie members to mush dog heaven. She’s out in front in the place she earned.

Methinks GINO needs a third blackberry to coordinate her two mouthpieces. I suspect she was so distracted from trying to clean up the Bristol/Levi PR disaster that she got confused about which engagement was which, and she couldn’t remember that she had told MegMouthpiece to confirm on the keynote speaker thing.
Her ice floe is cracking. Let’s all pile some more stuff on it.

And funny, I just saw Obama’s numbers yesterday and he’s at 61/28 in spite of having to deal with a lot more REAL stuff than GINO ever has. Can anybody even imagine what HER poll numbers would be if she didn’t have an isolated constituency that doesn’t pay taxes and gets free money every year? But the BIG OIL buffer that has protected Alaska from the freefall in the lower 48 is falling apart. Alaska’s unemployment is going up, services going down. That free money can only buy so many votes of self interest. Good luck in 2010 GINO. You’re going to need it.

And the kids can’t be left alone for ONE SECOND these days or they’ll all go running to the gotcha media for more back at ya’s and money.

    3. The comment SP made after the election that if she had been a dem things would have ended differently
    4. Her distancing herself from the GOP over the last few months
Is it possible she’s going to try and fool people by switching parties in name only? Sort of becoming a
DINO GINO thinking she’ll do better next go round?

It wouldn’t be the first time that RepoTalibans have been “embedded” as moles in the Democratic Party. I know of two city council members who ran as environmental liberal Dems, voted Repugnantly, were reelected as Dems still voted Repugnant and switched parties. One was in Wichita Falls, Tx., lady named Russell, and one in Austin, and I can’t remember her name.
There is of course Liebermann, the AC/DC suck up man of politics. (gag)

The best example is the woman who changed from Repugnant to Dem in (was it Broward or Palm Beach County,) Fl, and became County Clerk just long enough to screw up the ballot. Did not run for reelection and then redeclared herself a Repugnant.

In Texas and Oklahoma “Christians” of the far right brag about lying in their campaigns so they can get elected to school boards so that they can screw up education with creationism and flat earth mentality, and rewrite history.

Though liberals are, by definition, inclusive and accepting, it is difficult to believe Sarah believes that, after all she has said and done, that the Democratic, or Libertarian parties would accept her and put her forward as a presidential candidate.
The Green party would indeed turn green in the face at the very thought.

  13. 63
    womanwithsardinecan Says:

Candidates can only get away with that at the local level. Doing a Liebermann at the national level just doesn’t work. He has lost his base, lost his credibility, and lost his power. He won’t be getting any of them back. He is essentially a lame duck for the rest of his political career.
GINO is far too extreme to even run as an independent. In fact, she is quite unpopular among independents.
Her comments about how the Palin’s would be treated better if she had been on the democrat ticket is pure fantasy on her part, not even faintly based on reality. She should avoid comments like that because they make her look stupider and more opportunistic than she already does. She can’t wink her way into the Democrat party.

For everybody else in the US, except Sarah, “The First Family” refers to the President of the United States and spouse.
So most people are going to wonder, when they see that, whether she does or does not want to be at the same even as a black couple, or a Dem Pres, or the Obamas – and so just don’t invite her at all, as the simplest way to handle the issue Sarah creates with that *.

Or they fill out the rest of the form and Sarah’s computer won’t accept it with a * line empty, and figure to “heck with it, we’ll try Joe the Plumber, it’ll be easier and cheaper.

    ——–
By an unhappy coincidence, I have a family member who does exactly that–cements her “friendships” not with things like love, caring, and mutual support, but by finding a common enemy. As long as everyone’s focused on the outsider, they do just fine. But if the outsider goes away, her “friendships” self-destruct. I had always thought of it as schoolyard politics (funny how THAT’s coming up in this blog, too!)

The real danger of those kinds of groups is that in order to keep the dynamic going the outrageousness of the outsider has to be continually escalated–things get worse and worse, and no smear or slur is EVER discarded. Disproven to everyone else, yes. But among the faithful, well they know what they know. We saw it in the campaign. We’re seeing it now. It’s not constructive–the whole dynamic is based on destruction of a person–or in the case of what’s happening in Washington right now, the nation. The GOP is rebuilding itself not by finding the common, positive things that bind them together and unifying around them, but by unifying around sabotaging the Dems’ efforts to minimize the damage. It’s ugly.

Ah….the typical P4C (reverse to read) “thrashed” interpretation of a poll – lump everything that’s even vaguely positive for Palin in a multi-choice poll if it boosts her numbers, but find a poll for Obama that’s an either-or choice, then crow triumphantly that Sarah’s BETTER!!!!!!!

Actually, you’re totally wrong, VidOmnia, as usual.

Obama’s approval rating as measured by Gallup yesterday is 61%-28%, but with 10% unaccounted for — if we use YOUR counting method, let’s lump that 10% in with the 61% rather than the 28%, shall we?

There’s another problem: In that Hays Research poll you’re pointing to, the total of the 5 percentages for Palin adds up to 103%.

Hmmmmm….should we add the 3% to Palin’s “very positive” poll numbers? That’d be fair, I think, if I’m adding Obama’s missing 10% to his “positive”.

So, we’ll compare Obama with Palin as follows:

    Palin...........................................................Obama
    Positive Negative...........................Positive Negative
    67.3%........38.7%..................................71%........28%

P4C wingnuttery bites the dust again!

So, who are the figures charged with guiding Palin’s political image in Washington? Here’s the lineup based on our conversations with informed strategists.

    • John Coale: Coale, a well-known Washington lawyer and the husband of Fox News Channel’s Greta Van Susteren, drew national media attention when he endorsed Sen. John McCain’s presidential bid in protest of the way in which Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, who he backed in the primary, was treated. Coale, in an interview with the Fix, described himself simply as a “friend” of the Alaska governor but acknowledged that he suggested she start a leadership PAC and helped her navigate through some of the questions surrounding her family that lingered after the campaign. Others familiar with Palin’s political team insist that Coale has far more power than he is letting on — essentially helping to run Sarah PAC. Coale demurred on that front, noting only that he talks to Palin regularly and that she is a “fascinating person” who is “definitely not what the right thinks or the left thinks.”

Ultimately, she gets her comeuppance, when Doug sees her snozzola, and says that he can’t make the date. Marcia winds up with Charlie after all.

    Doug = the Re-rush-icantspub moneymakers

The only question is whether the “date after all” winds up back in some Charlie’s court…

    Pity the Re-rush-icants – nahhhhhhhhhhh! :)

Aw come on, we all know that at the last minute she’ll agree to read a speech — with all its pauses and smiles at the audience.

The question is how many kids will accompany her and who pays for them.

Will granny be holding her, ahem, last child? And will Bristol be holding her child?

The dysfunctional American family is the poster glitch for the GOP….

Now, what does GINO stand for…..

    Loved that fool me once…
I got a talking birthday card from my nephew. Bush was on the cover, just like the video…
    Front Cover:
“Another Year Older? You Coulda Fooled Me….”
open it up, Bushy starts talking ‘There’s an old saying in Tennessee…I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee that says fool me once, shame, shame on you…’etc
    Inside Cover:
“Don’t Try It Again, Though. I’ll Be Ready For Ya!”

Damn that was funny *pop* [sorry about the gum].

    Martha Unalaska Yard Sign

Her hair looks like crap, she’s fighting w/ the Legislature in Juneau, she’s been “advised” by her backers to lay a bit low – and besides all that, she hasn’t had the 100 hours needed to practice the speech she’s going to pay someone to write. And the kids can’t be left alone for ONE SECOND these days or they’ll all go running to the gotcha media for more back at ya’s and money.

    LOL, that’s so well said.

The Protecters of the Palin Brand

EXCERPT; So, who are the figures charged with guiding Palin’s political image in Washington? Here’s the lineup based on our conversations with informed strategists. • John Coale: Coale, a well-known Washington lawyer and the husband of Fox News Channel’s Greta Van Susteren, drew national media attention when he endorsed Sen. John McCain’s presidential bid in protest of the way in which Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, who he backed in the primary, was treated. Coale, in an interview with the Fix, described himself simply as a “friend” of the Alaska governor

SHOCKING COMMENT; Chris omits a significant fact about John Coale. He’s a prominent Scientology lawyer. Here’s a quick rundown of his Scientology training: http://www.truthaboutscientology.com/stats/by-name/j/john-p.-coale.html .. and another writeup about his involvement with SarahPAC: http://www.andrewhalcro.com/van_susteren_scientology_and_sarahpac Sarah Palin — the candidate of Scientology Who knew? I’ll bet her multitude of Christian evangelical supporters would be interested to find out about this. But now her babbling all makes sense. Posted by: tbetz | March 17, 2009 3:20 PM
