Re: KTUU coverage of Palin.

Is it just me, or does KTUU seem to be a liiiitle on the conservative, pro-Palin side? I know they had coverage of the demonstration, but it just seems to me like more often than not, they don't seem as critical as they need to be when covering Sarah. Plus, and I'll just call this speculation, but I'm guessing the main constituency of KTUU is overwhelmingly conservative, hence the pro-Palin 'bias' in their poll results. I dunno, just a theory.

As for ADN, yeah I think they are overwhelmingly Obama, but let's face it, Palin sells papers, and in this day and age they can hardly afford to 'piss off' or otherwise alienate the Palin constituency. The more Palin coverage they can squeeze in, (preferably positive from their point of view), the better for them on the profit side.
Also, consider this. When they first came out with the news that Palin rejected stimulus money, they said she had rejected about 45% of it. Cut to about three hours later, and lo and behold the amount she rejected had magically gone down to 'more than 30%'. Mind you this was after many, many angry people posted on the original 45% posting. I guess my point is, (and I'm sure this is no news to anyone here), that the Palin camp is very intent on controlling their message, even if it is on an external site). They are probably very aware of the symbiotic relationship the ADN has with Palin, and are going to exert whatever control that they can on the main news provider up here, that being the ADN.

The same James Dobson who hand picked Sarah and told McCain that would be the only way the Christian Right would come on board.
Nice way to welcome spring!

Here's another thing to celebrate:
http://www.alaskadispatch.com/palin-watch/10-palin-watch/1043-palin-critic-runner-up-for-alaska-journalism-award

FROM THE ALASKA PRESS CLUB: A stay-at-home mom from Wasilla whose email information about Alaska's governor took on an Internet life of its own during last year's presidential campaign has won a "Special Recognition" award from the Alaska Press Club.

Anne Kilkenny, 60, is the runner-up to this year's Howard Rock/Tom Snapp First Amendment Award, which the Press Club describes as recognizing "Alaskans who demonstrate exemplary advancement of First Amendment values." Surely you remember Kilkenny, the woman who wrote that widely distributed, highly critical email of Palin during the presidential election.

John Creed, president of the Alaska Press Club, says:
"Anne Kilkenny might not think she was courageous, but she willingly shared information that helped Americans make one of our most important political decisions-election of our president and vice president-without fear of personal consequences to her or her family. That's the First Amendment in action."

The video and story of the rally is up on KTUU website now.
WELL DONE MUDFLATTERS!
I get the feeling that things are going to snowball - now people are seeing GINO dissent, more and more people are going to lose their fear about speaking up.
Your dam has cracks in it GINO - and far too many for your fingers to plug. Buh bye "Reign of Pain".
