Does anyone know if DooDoo used the State’s time and computer to send his threat? It was sent yesterday @2:55pm. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

I’m stunned. And I can’t even get to the forum.
I’m ready to send emails or whatever to anyone that can have something to say about this. But – what if it makes more of a mess for AKM if we do, would it be better to leave it alone and allow her the time she wants “to assess” – ? *Then* go from there.?

on Shannyn’s blog,someone (sounds like a lawyer) posted that this is a violation of Civil Law – I hope no one objects as I am cross posting that comment here for you all to read and digest:
“The man (Doogan) was acting on behalf of the state. He made a determination that someone should exercise her constitutional rights only in the manner he deemed appropriate, not in the manner in which she had the First Amendment right to comment. He also made someone who had taken pains to keep her identity private a public figure.
This is a violation of federal law and of the state common law right to privacy. The fact that he did it on state time and in his capacity is what is called “state action” for a section 1983 civil rights claim. The Mudflats blogger, who was absolutely entitled to comment on matters of public interest and equally entitled to do so anonymously, has a significant lawsuit against this clown. Were I admitted to the Alaska bar, I’d love to handle it. Since I am not, I very much hope that she finds a lawyer with experience in civil rights claims. In addition to awarding damages, they also award attorneys’ fees. That is the only way to stop this sort of abuse of public position.”

Here is the email I sent to doogan…The two things we have in common are that we are both Democrats and both from Alaska. Having said that, I think what you did by exposing the Anonymous Blogger is despicable. How do you know that this person wasn’t hiding from an exspouse or didn’t want their kids ridiculed at school or a whole other host of reasons. I moved from Alaska years ago and politicians like you were one of the reasons.
Here is his response I just received…Well, gee, Larry, if they don’t want their kids ridiculed in school, let’s make everybody anonymous about everything. That way, nobody’s kids will get called names.
Here was my answer to his response…Wow! What a grade school response. You said nothing about the possible
danger you put this person in. You sir have stirred up a hornets nest
that you will live to regret. For starters, make sure you watch

I would think Doogan can be brought up on a number of eithics charges not to mention criminal charges. I do hope we have an AK mudflatter that is extending his/her services to AKM right now.

The problem with ethics in Alaska, is that doesn’t everything have to go through nilaP’s lackeys?
The only actual avenue is to file a personal lawsuit for violation of civil rights and I’m betting somewhere there is an attorney in Alaska that is drooling to handle this. DooDoo needs his head handed to him, figuratively speaking.
The only way to really hurt this guy is in his pocketbook. Unless someone has pictures??? (sorry!)

So many ethics violations, so little time.
Don’t AK politicians have real jobs to do?
How can Doogan not realize that:
1. using his work computer for personal business on the boss’s (that would be the State of Alaska) time is a no-no,
2. his basic premise is just plain erroneous (according to the Constitution) and runs counter to principles he engaged in as a journalist and should theoretically understand on some level,
2. his really juvenile, snarky email responses to people are unprofessional, inappropriate and are going to be read by thousands of people, plus refer back to item #1.

Dear AKM,
I am sincerely so sorry Doodoo stole your anonymity. You and your family have my deepest sympathy. Know that you are not alone. Please be very proud of all the work you have done here. It is a very powerful site and if doodoo thinks this will weaken you or your words he is the one in for the surprise!
If he were a gentleman at all he would have given you more time to prepare for the fall out; which does make it seem as this was a very personal vendetta on his part. He wanted to cause some level of discomfort/pain.
The facts surrounding his actions regarding this matter need to be reviewed and will be scrutinized in a civil proceeding. For this and for the very public newsletter he used, he deserves to be sued for violating your civil right to privacy!
Please know Jeanne there are so many people out here who love and cherish you, and the work that you do. We will work to defend/support you in any way you wish.

I have met her and didn’t know it, It doesn’t make any difference.

I don’t know what I’m talking about but could we do a class action suit? Could all of us file against him for threatening our right to “talk” to each other without him attacking our right to free speech? No one has to come here and read this blog. It’s our safe place and AKM is our discussion leader. If we choose to be anonymous we have that right.
I’m very tired and very mad. That probably doesn’t make sense.

The problem with ethics in Alaska is- there are no ethics in Alaska! Everyone is appointed by someone who knows someone who owes someone… If Ted Stevens was the first link in the scum chain to break, maybe there is light. I emailed KO an RM as well- they have to pick this up and air it in daylight. Stand strong, AMR- you are on your way to your own show…

Leadership down in juneau needs to change, starting with Mike Doodoo!
I remember reading a post of his in the ADN many years ago, he was total making fun of the sport of soccer in Alaska. His comments were infuriating, ignorant, and very negative about the worlds most popular game. It seemed that he was slandering and trashing the beautiful sport of soccer for some kind personal gain. I was furious with him back then and now I’m more furious.
Its sad but true, that ignorant local Alaskans can slander, brown nose, and suck up, and spit out the muck to get into office in Alaska.

Shannyn was great last night on Olbermann. I feel badly for not saying so earlier but was kinda traumatized like so many of us here. Also, thank you to Shannyn for her continued support of AKM and I am sure she will be a great voice for bloggers and the rights of not only Alaskans but plain old decent everyday people everywhere.
SoldotnaSue’s comment above struck a chord w/me. I think I get what you were saying. AKM took the brunt of this certainly much more than the rest of us but I felt/feel violated too. By ‘outing’ AKM Doogan has clearly threatened anyone who chooses anonymity with exposure if he doesn’t like what they say. It feels wrong and just plain creepy. I want to unite against him but don’t know if there is more that we can do besides emailing him and the legislators. I will be seeking advice next week. Out of state or around the world, seems we still have a right to do something about this creep. It’s the internet for Heaven’s sake, who made him Lord of the Planet?
