While AKMuckraker Sleeps..
28 03 2009Hi, it’s Snoskred here. I am hoping AKMuckraker is fast asleep but I don’t know.. would you be able to sleep after a day like this?
I’m giving you a blank thread for comments as the other one is loading very slowly with over 600 comments on it now.
Also, we have a couple of threads on the forums which you might want to check in on -
Rep Mike Doogan Outs AKM – Updates, Links, Contact Info..
In the second thread there are a lot of links to blog posts, one news article (but wait until they get a hold of the story!) and also contact info for Rep Doogan that Charcoal Sniper P and I have been collecting, plus links posted by forum members in the first thread.
Whether or not people support AKMuckrakers opinions, I believe most people would support AKM’s right to remain anonymous. I feel it is a right that everyone on the internet is entitled to – people make the decision for their own reasons, some because they have been cyber stalked in the past, some to prevent being cyber-stalked in the future.
This may be the first known case of an anonymous blogger being cyber-stalked by an elected official determined to find out their real identity and out them, though!
You can email messages of support to AKMuckraker at akmuckraker(at)yahoo(dot)com – be aware that a lot of people are doing so at the moment so you may not get a reply.
If you see an inappropriate or trollish comment on the blog, please email me at unlocktroll@gmail.com with the name of the poster, I’ll try to fix it while AKMuckraker is in the land of Nod.
Snoskred – On Behalf Of The Mudflats Forum Team.

Sorry…in the middle of a thought…what I was trying to say, the ethics complaint that the good CD blogger filed was not listed. So, I just you were speaking about the harassment that has been thrown at CD for doing her civic duty. Kudos to CD!!!
Sorry, brain malfunction….

CD = Celtic Diva = filed complaint about the Arctic Cat clothing issue.

OK MUDFLATTERS…I was just on meaT haraS (I have infiltrated) and they are begging their members to get over to http://www.juneauempire.com and vote NO at the bottom of the page. The poll is “Do you think Palin should accept all of the stimulus money?” We need to beat them at their own game, don’t you think?
—————
NO.
I don’t think they have a game to beat.
And if they had a beretta, they’d know how to spell it.

caligrl – your news is very disturbing. when sarah first ran for mayor , there was an AIP guy who supported her that I recall talk about. he was supposedly a computer geek. I’m sure they are pushing this . SIGH………the feds need to romp down on this NOW.

GA Peach — I see what you mean…

Hmmm, how many think that Doogan did this on a Friday purposely figuring that nobody would really notice on the weekend and even if they did, they would have lost interest by Monday?
If so, methinks that he had no clue what fury would be unleashed by mudpuppies round the world.
He must truly be oblivious to the feelings of others. I wonder what he would have done if this occurred to his wife? Sadly, maybe nothing.

Yes I wish the FEDs would come it seems the whole lot of them (with a couple of exceptions) needs to go. Wonder what GINO has on doogan?
I’m really, really sick over this.

Can AK locals explain why Doogan was able to vote when his **son in law’s** company went before Doogan’s committe…he acknowledged the relationship yet he still voted..should he not have abstained out of conflict of interest?
http://www.legis.state.ak.us/basis/get_minutes_comm.asp?hse=H&session=25&comm=BUD&date=20081107&time=1307
And, BTW, the president of the son in law’s company has donated big time to AK repukes, as well as that Swift Boat vet group (from the 2004 election)

Did Doogan pay NO attention to the wrath of lefty bloggers in the 2008 election?? Maybe he should have consulted with Palin about what the outcome is on one’s political career when one takes on bloggers.

I thought about the AIP, too. After all, Palin, in her taped speech addressed to the AIP 2008 meeting, mentioned their good work. Principalities…did I spell that right?

Friday seems to me to be the plan…maybe lower volume hoping AKM shuts down before Monday…like what happened to that other blogger a while back. And, Audrey’s blog has a message about releasing some stuff, too, and those interested keep visiting her blog to see what her story is…I’m guilty.

Regarding your comment:
Then I thought what if?? What if Mudflats went national. . . international . . .what if Mudflats became the the passcode for citizens who guard such national treasures as integrity, independence, the Bill of Rights – and what if everyone who posts here started a “local” Mudflats, even one that just maintained a watchful eye over local politicians. . .
The same thought occurred to me today, but just as quickly, I thought of all the reasons against it. As you know, the quality and tone of blogs varies tremendously. AKM has set a standard for critical thinking, excellent writing, and good-natured analysis that few can match. That’s why AKM became so popular so quickly. I would hate to see AKM’s reputation diminished by bloggers who affiliate themselves with the Mudflats name, but do not uphold the standards that AKM has established.
I wonder how AKM would feel about a network of bloggers who simply adopted a statement such as “This blog was inspired by AK Muckraker, and strives to shine the same light of accountability on the elected and appointed officials of {state name} that AK Muckraker’s Mudflats has shone on the elected and appointed officials of Alaska.” (Well, that statement could really use some work I know, but that’s the general idea…)

@katiebegood –
re: creating new mail addresses for emails to doogan.
Wouldn’t it be fun to create email addresses with doogan in them? something like dgnsux at gmail dot com or dgntheworm at yahoo dot com….
you get the idea.
Anyway, now that I’ve had my fun with that I can go on to say what has been eating at me thru this saga. And that is that from the initial doogan drama back around xmas there was a pervasive theme on the part of doogan’s emails, that the people he was emailing were not worthy of even the slightest bit of civility. If you look at Phil Munger’s blog about this AKM-outing issue you can see that he gets more than a bit of that from the doogie as well.
Now, my husband & I were, sadly, recipients of the hate emails from doogie, and last time I checked we were both reasonable, rational, intelligent hard-working ALASKAN VOTERS, raising our kids, volunteering in the community, keeping informed about local, national and world-wide political issues……… We wrote reasonable emails to all of the legislators, and got the least civil response back from stoogie that one could ever imagine receiving. Whoa, it was super crazy time. Twilight zone stuff. So insane that one would wonder if it was a joke. That it was an elected official responding to the concerns of constituents is completely off the insanity charts.
Ploogan does not care if you email him, he doesn’t care about anything. He’s raised apathy in an elected official to a new level, perhaps he’s in competition with Dyson, I don’t know.
When he forgets that he has sworn an oath to represent the best interests of Alaskans, when he forgets to stay within the boundaries of ethical & decent behavior, walking the fine legal line between legal/illegal behaviour, well, it’s time for him to go. If he needs a helping hand from his fellow legs via formal censure, great, more power to the system.

The good news in all this mess is that there are “footprints” everywhere. Once you hit “send” , there is a record that can be retrieved. The Detroit mayor thought he erased stuff……..nope…….jail. Why do you think sarah refuses to release the e-mails ?? Dang – I hope the Feds pounce on this !!

I want to let everyone who hasn’t seen it yet that Palin has an op-ed up at ADN touting her view of the stimulous plan. The comments section has 210 comments so far with a lot of her supporters chiming in. It would be great to up the recommend count on those opposing her…

Over on Huff Post ( http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dawn-teo/famed-anonymous-anti-pali_b_180313.html ), Mel Roy had this reply:
“Time to do some sleuthing ourselves.
Depending on how Doogan obtained the information, he could be guilty of yet another ethics violation (Alaska State Ethics Code, AS24.60.060 – using his office to obtain private information about a citizen), as well as a crime (AS11.56.860 – making that information public).”
As MelRoy said…time to start digging everyone…

Remember Mudputs — It’s AKM’s call how he/she wishes to address this. I’m sure they appreciate all the suggestions and various sites posted as to make an educated decision of direction.
It is also the fact of the additional traffic on the site and the switch to a new server which Snoskred advised may be up on Monday.
A suggestion — that maybe we too might take a step back for the moment, breath, make some popcorn and down it with a glass of wine until we have further indications as to any further letter writing or site linkage.
Snoskred and the Mudflats Rally Team have done an excellent job stepping in to oversee us and the site. Thank you MRT (Mudflats Rally Team).
Foremost in our thoughts is AKM and our support for he/she and what he/she decides in going forward,
So Mudpups, I bid you farewell for the night. I hope you too all get a good night of zzzzz’s!!!

The Daily Kos has 2 stories there. There was nothing on Think Progress. send a note to their contact page.
http://thinkprogress.org/contact/
These people are the same ones that are presently doing battle with Bill O’reilly and the Fox stalker cameras. They need to cover the stalker squad in AK as well. This would cover two stories in one if you email them
As mentioned once before. CNN’s Rick Sanchez has that story/tip line. He’s really into the blogging community.

This might be the best story written yet. And the author sent his letter to all the Alaska Legislatures in power, from the Daily Kos. He asked that they ‘ take action ‘ against Doogan.

He’s ‘popular’ now… for all the WRONG reasons.

Mudflatters may be interested to know, if you did not already, that Rep. Doogan introduced House Bill 195 on 3/23/09, amending AK law regarding use of official email systems for state business. Among other things, the bill provides penalties (including impeachment) for officials who have control over electronic records (including emails) who “denies, obstructs, or attempts to obstruct, or a person not having custody or control who aids or abets another person in denying, obstructing, or attempting to obstruct, the inspection of a public record subject to inspection.” Anybody up for a FOIA request on any records, including electronic ones, pertaining to all communications by Rep. Doogan related to the identify of the blog owner at Mudflats, commonly known as AKmuckraker?
