Hey, down here in East Tennessee, we have a dumb ass Rethuglican I would offer to swap...your Gussesseedorfer (?) for our Stacy The Slumlord Campfield. I gar-un-tee y'all, that our Stacy will start right away, as soon as he unpacks his guns and ammo, he will start promoting the most shameful, disgusting, ignorant, hypocritical, sexist bills, that he will make your new nominee look like, um, a deer in ms. palin's headlights!
And our offering to the Repugs of Alaska will so distract all of the palin haters that...well, they will be developin' a hatred of himself...the Slumlord.

And we don't have ANWAR here...we have Mountain Top Removal...whackin' the tops off our beautiful mountains to get at the teaspoons full of coal, so that our TVA can spill it all over the place...

So send him on down. We Dems cannot wait til we get rid of the Campfield...and you will be rid of another palin surrogate!

No mistake on checkboxes; Grussendorf wrote the word "Republican" on his absentee ballot in his own handwriting, on a line printed "Write Political Affiliation Choice Here".
Bummer. Frankly, I'm disappointed. Oh well, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is...

http://www.juneauempire.com/stories/033109/loc_416719221.shtml

His stand on issues:
Abortion - pro-choice in 2002. "When I ran, that's where I stood, and I'm still there," he said.
I don't quite get his response. It sounds confusing.

Kensington mine - for it. "That's truly economic stimulus; that's 300 to 500 good-paying jobs," he said.

Natural gas pipeline - not sure. Grussendorf said he's not sure it was a good idea. "I still have a lot of questions," he said.

AGIA/TransCanada Corp. - has doubts. "It's hard to move forward with something that doesn't have the big companies involved with it," he said.

Federal stimulus - worried about 'growing government' and "concerned about increasing the state's budget deficit in future years". "We cannot continue to burn through our savings at the rate that we're seeing right now," he said.
Obviously, he hasn't done his homework on that one. Doesn't get what the stimulus funding is, hasn't thought about strategic options like the governor of Idaho, and hasn't asked/listened to staff doing an incredible about of work to get the details and find out about "strings".

Arctic National Wildlife Refuge - drill, baby, drill. "Responsible development in ANWR, that's the big one," he said. "We've already got the infrastructure" to ship the oil, he said. "It's definitely faster than a gas pipeline."

This stunt sure does not serve we Juneau folks at all well.
This is supposed to be about who can represent US . The only fail-safe we have until next election is the party ok of gov's appointment ...
and meantime the session clock is ticking down.

Me thinks it's "ironical" that the MOST recommended comments on ADN, express more of a dim view of Palin, than what AKM writes on this blog!

Boy, the Paliban is going to be busy striking the fingers off of ALL of these annymoose commentors!

We will see if our Senate members approve this move. What an absolute slap in the face to qualified Dems. Surely this will be another ethics complaint if her people arranged for him to switch parties for this appointment.

Did he change parties "just in time" or was he asked to do so. I said all along that she would wait for someone to change cities, but I guess parties works as well. Hummmmm, smacks of something not quite so tasty if you ask me.

Someone, please start the IMPEACHMENT process ASAP! I am not one of the "bloggers" that harbors constant hostility towards Palin, I, did however, vote for her. I believed that she would be a fair Governer, who had Alaska's interest at heart...I WAS WRONG. IMPEACH!

Unethical? How about a governor who engages in magical thinking? How about a governor and staff who repeatedly lie and mislead the public? How about a governor who uses the image of her kids for personal gain?

Ashley Judd was right: it's time to stop Sarah Palin.

Pancho -- Keep in mind that as a registered Republican, you can still vote on the Democratic primary ticket. He might have voted all Democrat -- except for one strategic Republican vote (possibly a weaker candidate positioned against Begich? aka Stevens?). As far as the presidential primary goes, Alaska had NO impact whatsoever on the Clinton/Obama question. He had nothing to lose by registering Republican -- until now.

I'm surprised she didn't pick Joe Lie_berman. He can never remember which party he supports either. And Michael, I just can't buy that "I lost track of which party I'm registered with." This last campaign got so nasty at times, I just can't believe ANYONE wouldn't know what their registration is/was.

I've voted Democrat for years and remain progressive -- but registered Republican last year to vote for a primary candidate that I admired. I can easily see how this guy lost track of it. The problem with our country is that people stick blindly to party allegiances instead of voting for the best person. Who cares what this guys voter registration is. The real question is will he represent his constituents interests.
