Tune in to KUDO. New Revelations About Palin’s AG Pick.
9 04 2009Leah Burton discusses Wayne Anthony Ross’ appointment and her explosive testimony before the Legislature.
Stream it Live HERE.
Tomorrow House Judiciary Committee will meet and take citizen testimony on the nomination of Wayne Anthony Ross to be our next Attorney General.
Leah Burton is on with CC, sharing her testimony regarding Wayne Anthony Ross. She is a former citizen lobbyist who worked on behalf of families and children concerning child support, child custody, domestic violence, child abuse and sexual assault.
She discusses a meeting of the group DADS, being run by Wayne Anthony Ross, and what she heard.
Numerous comments were made that were appalling, not the least of which were remarks by Mr. Ross which included the following; “If a guy can’t rape his wife…who’s he gonna rape?” and “There wouldn’t be an issue with domestic violence if women would learn to keep their mouths shut.”
Other members made their own contributions such as, “We have the right to discipline our wives and children without the interference of government in our lives!”
These comments were greeted with laughter and affirmative responses by the group. Given the fact that they had referred to me in recent months as a “femi-nazi”, the comments I was witness to at this meeting, while abhorrent, were unfortunately not surprising.
This announcement by Governor Palin is a slap in the face to all single parents who have no choice but to rely upon the State Department of Law to support court orders for child support, as well as those persons who need the Department to enforce criminal laws against sexual assault and domestic violence. Mr. Ross is the antithesis of the type of person that should be the Attorney General. This has been clearly demonstrated by his own words and actions in public.
In closing, I am not alone in my assessment that anyone who condones, and contributes to that type of hateful and harmful discourse clearly does not have the judgment necessary to represent the people of the State of Alaska as their Attorney General.

That group DADS reminds me of a lot of things I heard about the “Christian” men’s group called Promise Keepers, a “Christian evangelical ministry dedicated to uniting men to become “godly influences” in the world”, and in their personal lives, domination over their womenfolk (so they interpret the Bible).
There doesn’t seem to be any Promise Keepers representation in Alaska, so DADS seems to have morphed into a guns-and-paranoia patriarchial type group, less concerned with any of the “Seven Promises” and more concerned with male domination.

My hubby is a deeply religious man, and he treats me with love, respect and equality! We don’t need some nutter telling him how to be a husband. He does a great job without belittling me, without beating me. Hence, I stick around, because it’s a pretty good place to be.
This ‘general’ needs a new gig. Keep him off the public stage along with his gal pal, and the world will be a much better place.
(makes me wonder if Todd is an abusive husband…After all, birds of a feather)

@Aha–thanks for the additional info about Ross’s seemingly pro-KKK article. If anyone actually gets their hands on a copy, please let the rest of us know what the full text says.

As I had mentioned before CNN has a story tip line (toll free)
I think they share info across the anchors. This is for Rick Sanchez.
I would emphasize the Womens Right opinions he has. The more shocking… the more likely to report it. I said there was live testimony from Leah Burton today.

Roland Martin has one as well. He’s covering for Campbell Brown.

Has anyone asked Palin and WAR if they can see Africa from Alaska. The attitude of WAR, that men can rape their wives (meaning women are property); leads me to believe that cheating on a wife and rape of other women is also acceptable. Palin’s stance that it is the rape victims responsibility to pay for the rape kit is beyond words….One of the reasons rape kits are administered is to also test for HIV/AIDS (with follow up testing for the disease). The reported cases of AIDS/HIV in Africa is growing (add to the fact that many do not report AIDS because of the stigma, the numbers are staggering). Number one cause of HIV/AIDS being spread in Africa is rape (rape of children, young boys and girls, and of course wives).
The attitude of WAR and Palin is no different than many leaders in Africa. I will try to find statistics on Alaska; although my last reading had old data; it is spreading. Highest population is Whites, second highest population is Native Alaskans, then other groups.
Try and get these statistics out into the public along with Palin’ and WAR’s attitude; this story has “MEAT” and one that all the people of Alaska can understand.
P.S. One of the fastest growing groups: Teenagers.

@ Glow – went to Ross’s web page for his law firm. It lists all the articles that have been published by his office. Found his KKK article listed a date of 12/91 published in the Anchorage Times. Unable to retreive off his site and the Times require a fee to see the article.

Given, WAR is a neanderthal. Anybody who didn’t know that just hasn’t been paying attention.
The question is, will he uphold the rule of law, especially in the face of pressure from the executive and legislative branches of government?

To Diane in Hot Springs Arkansas: Hi neighbor, I live in Royal. P.S. Alaskans, we have some major issues in this state too!

The legislature needs to adjourn their confirmation hearing today and schedule it to a time certain – next session. What’s the hurry anyway. The day the legislature lets the Governor run their daily order of business is a very sad day for “statesmanship” and “leadership” in Alaska. Oh and her finger poking and pointing at the legislature yesterday on the Senate position – I say what’s the hurry on that either. Why don’t they just let Kerttula have an extra position this summer and let her office carry the interim load. I don’t expect any group hugs from the Governor even if she gets her way. In fact if she gets her way it’ll just give her another excuse to poke her divisive little nose into something else.

When are the fair citizens of the state of my birth going to remove her from the political office she currently infects? Are religious idiots really the majority of the population at this point?
