The Washington Post Blog, The Fix has named The Mudflats “Best Political Blog in Alaska”!
OK, Mudflatters…everyone turn toward the nation’s capital and wave from The Mudflats! (we all wave madly)
After sifting through hundreds upon hundreds of recommendations that came in via the Fix comments section, Twitter and email, we are finally ready to unveil our list of the best political blogs in each of the 50 states.
A huge measure of thanks is in order for all the Fixistas out there for your great suggestions and advice — this has been our favorite Fix post to write in recent memory.
The state-by-state list is after the jump and, beginning tomorrow, will sit in the left rail of the Fix homepage under a link titled (appropriately enough): “The Best State Political Blogs”. That way, you can access the full list for months to come without having to go searching for this particular post. (Big thanks to deputy politics editor — and web guru — Paul Volpe for his help putting that together.)

“Which came first the chicken or the egg? (Mudflats or The Fix)
For me it is Mudflats…it was through the announcement about Mudflats recognition at ‘The Fix’ that I first learned of the existence of “The Fix” for the first time.”
I believe that might have been part of the reason for doing this . Among political blogs at the national level, there is a lot of competition. I usually miss The Fix in favor of Politico. Not anymore!

AKM – you are a state treasure! One of the several wonders of Alaska – I’m sure we have more than seven of them, and YOU are definitely one of them!
“Just a spoonful of mud helps the medicine go down!” AAAAACCCKK – how could I have survived Palin this long without you? I’d be in jail for putting a very dead salmon in her car at the very least. There would be dog poo lining the mansion steps…mixed in with banana peels.

Congratulations AKM! This recognition is certainly well deserved. I know all Mudpuppies were concerned about you after the Doogan outing, which makes this all the more meaningful. I am sure it was not the outcome he had wished for. Just keep doing what you do best; writing with wit, humor and most important, TRUTH. Please give my very best to Brian too!

Good for you AKM! And a nod to the other Blogs in AK I read.
Alaska is an interesting state…
(Apparently I’m not the only one who is a loyal fan of Mudflats, and love’s AKM’s wit insight heart, and engaging writing style.)
I noticed that some of the top blogs elsewhere were professional sites with staff and they are often associated newspapers.
Alaskans are pretty independent.

Congratulations to you, AKM, and to Snoskred and all the others behind the scenes who have made it possible for this blog to expand and grow with its growing readership.

I already posted my comment earlier (another Big hand clap though )… and this is a suggestion in response to the WAR nomination.
I emailed DOJ/Eric Holder yesterday and have just sent a message of to the White House emphasizing WAR’s quotes about womens issues and his quotes. Sent the Mudflats link story from yesterday in the message.
Every little email could help. They will have it on the record that this AG was not fit to represent the office.

ADN reports that Ross has denied Leah Burton’s allegations, as expected. Hope some other people come forward today because Ross is bound to have said similar things in front of a lot of people over the years. It won’t take very many for the corroboration to stick.
Also, he doesn’t take pressure very well, and under strong questioning he will push back, which might also tell the legislators what they are getting here. Wish I could watch the hearing today!

Oh absolutely. She needed someone to be nasty for her (so as not to tarnish her political image), and he’s going to be her attack dog on this.
Let’s just hope he doesn’t get confirmed (hearings are on-going today).
