May it be a lovely day with no excuses to not go to the polls! Go go Anchorage mudpuppies, and all – VOTE!

    SuchanutNo Gravatar says:

I voted. NO ONE at the polls. Usually there are 25 – 50 people waiting at 7 am. Today, there were 6. I know the early voting has impacted this to some extent, but if there is anyone out there thinking about not showing up – think again!

    VOTE!!!

If you aren’t sure where – fill in your address and select ‘political’ for the category at this website:

I’ll send a few vehicles around to get people. Unfortunately, since I’m in the lower 48 I’ll have to call in some favours…

They’ll only look like flying saucers. I guarantee I’ll ask for human pilots :)

Seriously, good luck up there. From what I’ve read about this Dan Sullivan character, he’s shifty and just plain creepy…

I heard they are not using the electronic scanners to count votes this time (trying to save money by not renting the machines from the state, I guess). That means it will be a long wait until we have enough votes counted to start predicting outcomes. It’s gonna be a long night.

On the other hand, if those are Deibold machines, you may end up with a truthful election result when you do get one.

It’s election day here in Alexandria, VA too, for our city council and school board seats. Also very low turnout here – lower than usual – looks to be about 10%.

    GOTV, Anchorage! Go Croft!

    My perspective.

We’re starting to recover from the Bush Administration.
We’re still living through the Palin Administration.
We will be wise to pass on the Sullivan Administration

    Put another way…

Fool you once, shame on them.
Fool you twice, shame on you.
    Fool you thrice, HELLOOOOO?

They are doing a hand count tonight. I asked the workers what they thought about the impact on time and they unanimously told me that it was likely going to go faster tonight.

  27. 27
    BlooperNo Gravatar says:

Until we start getting some real election results, here are the hard numbers for the first round of the Anchorage mayoral race:

    http://www.muni.org/iceimages/Assembly2/2009.04.07%20FINAL%20Regular%20Election%20Resuls%20Summary%202009apr18.pdf

Yes, Dan Sullivan got 43.38% of the vote, and Eric Croft only received 19.63%, but if you add all of the other Democrats percentages (who obviously are not in the running this runoff) to his total then his potential percentage of the vote become much more competitive.

His two closest competitors (Matt Claman and Sheila Selkregg) received 5.71% and 16.27% of the vote respectively. If you add their percentages to Crofts’ he gets 41.61%. Then if you then throw in the votes that the remaining Democratic candidates received & some of the independent votes, he could win.

I know I said here earlier that he was a long shot, but I am now cautiously optimistic that hey *may* pull off a win. We shall see.

  28. 28
    BlooperNo Gravatar says:

I should add that Matt Claman and Sheila Selkregg were Democrats.

Annie, that is a gem. Thanks for the link. Looks like, Bristol, is going to follow in her mommy’s Naughty Monkey’s. Pop out a kid and hit the trail, lying. Wonder how many little, Tripp’s, she will have by the time she is 22?

I voted at 10:30am, only one other person was there. 150 had voted so far. If Croft is going to win…call all of your progressive friends and ask them to vote. A few years ago, a friend of mine, who is a liberal, were discussing the election…he admitted he didn’t vote. I was floored. He’s politically active and just…didn’t vote. It happens. I am callling my address book and checking with neighbors.

    Annie,
I find it funny they only announced her on Tuesday. Wonder if their first choice jumped ship as you don’t organize these events this late.

Bristol may be their sloppy seconds or alternatively, they wanted people registered before knowing as they knew people might not attend.

Palin tweeted: “an effort to clear the Whittier tunnel, DOT will begin blasting at noon. For more info…”

Wow, Palin can’t even get the facts straight in her ‘tweets’. The tunnel is not in need of clearing, it’s the road to the tunnel that is in need of maintenance.

Small point, I know, but if you’re putting out messages to the public you should get all the details straight.
