Mudpuppy news -
Sad news this week with the passing of mudpuppy Kenny – also known as OldgeezerinVA. If you would like to leave your condolences for his wife Tiredmom, we have a thread on the forums where you can do that. Sympathies to TiredMom. Many mudpuppies donated towards a flower fund for Tiredmom – we sent a larger version of flowers pictured above.
Tiredmom let us know that she got our flowers in the thread I linked to above -
The “Butterscotch” roses are so wonderful. They smell so nice, more than any roses I’ve ever received from a florist. They smell and look like they were just picked from someone’s special rose garden, absolutely stunning! I picked one that was one of the smaller ones from a cluster of three varigated yellow and orange and put in the drawer in Kenny’s casket where one puts letters and messages. (I put a copy of this thread in there with the letters from the rest of our family, too, also
) Y’all have become part of our family, and our kids will never make fun of our swaps again
They were absolutely amazed to see the number of condolence messages from the forum. I am so glad they have been witness to the fact that there truly are still many good, kind and caring people in this world. They will never forget how so many complete strangers cared about their father during the toughest days of his life. They were shown such a wonderful example of compassion and kindness, it will always remain with them.
That sound you heard as you read the above is mudpuppy hearts all over the world breaking at the same time. We’re so sorry for your loss, Tiredmom.

We’re still working out the kinks with the guest posting system over at I Heart The Mudflats. We hope to send out user IDs to those who registered this week – we have to install something special to allow us to do this and it is a bit technical. Speaking of email -
Our server is having trouble emailing people using att.net, sbcglobal.net, prodigy.net, snet.net, ameritech.net, mchsi.com and pacbell.net. We found this out when we sent out our latest newsletter from The Mudflats. Also, if you are using these internet service providers and trying to reset your password or someone sends you a private message or you receive a topic notification, the email can’t get through to you. 
We hope to have the problem solved soonest. In the meantime, you might want to consider using gmail on the forums, you can easily change your email address and if you have any issues just PM me – if this is happening to our server, it is likely happening to other people trying to email you also too!

I met TiredMom in the Night Kitchen over on the forum in late November or early December…a few of us used to hang out there. TiredMom told us that her husband was going into hospital for tests, and we all waited anxiously as the weeks progressed. It became clear that Kenny was not well and we were all very upset. Then an extraordinary thing happened. People began to contact TiredMom by PM and enquire about Kenny’s health….and a whole new set of friendships were born.
By Christmas, I had sent Irish chocolates to VA. TiredMom sent me back a fabulous Obama sticker….I still have it in the envelope by my computer, I was afraid to stick it onto anything in case it was damaged.
We held a magnet swap on the forum…TiredMom and I were not swap buddies, but nevertheless we sent each other magnets. I received a little magnetic moose which TiredMom had bought in the hospital when she was there with Kenny.

PM’s continued back and forth between us, mostly concerning Kenny’s health. We allowed ourselves the odd gripe or two, in fact we encouraged it. That was part of it…we could sound off to each other. On May 5th, TiredMom PM’d me to let me know that Kenny had passed away. I have never met TiredMom….but I cried as I read that message.
TiredMom and I will always continue this friendship… and I suspect there are a lot of other Mudpuppies out there with the same story to tell.
