Okay, UK Lady. Now I get it. I'm going to display my ignorance once again when I tell you I didn't even know there was a Liberal Democrat party in England. I don't think I'm listening to the BBC enough. I used to catch it on early morning radio, but I don't anymore. What I found so interesting is that the news is world news, rather than the narrow segment we get on most of our news programs. PBS stations tend to do a much better job, but we still don't hear the kinds of things you do.

TBNT Judy - Not so much fringe dems, it is more like our two main parties seem to start somewhere around left leaning dems (labour) and finish with Blue dog Dems to Moderate R's, RINO's? (Conservative). The likes of the BNP (British Nationalist Party) are like your Beck/Hannity/Coulter R's, they stand no chance thank heavens . I personally voted Liberal Democrat (third biggest party) this time, as they seem the best of a bad bunch, they are probably nearest to moderate Dems.

Thank you, UK Lady, for that education. When you say that Labour are similar to very left-leaning Dems, do you mean the fringe Dems? Still trying to understand. So, it seems that your Conservatives are equivalent to what I consider moderates, including both Dems and Reps. Is that a fair assessment? If so, I've been rooting for the wrong party over there.

As for the poodle thing, no worries. I was just teasing you ;-) . I knew you would not cast aspersions on them.

TBNT Judy - Tony Blair was generally thought of as a bit of a self serving showman. For instance the Labour Party are generally anti-royalist, but when Princess Di was killed, his eulogy was sychophantic and hammy.
The description of him as Bush's poodle was in no way meant to cast aspersions on poodles (I think they are brilliant dogs), more a way of saying he was unquestioningly loyal. There were many, many cartoons in our papers with Blair depicted as a poodle.

Although it is thought in the US that Democratics equate to Labour and Republicans to the Conservatives, that doesn't really translate so easily. To me it seems more like Labour are very left leaning D's and Conservatives are more like what you call RINO's or Blue Dogs. The conservative wing of the R's are more like our fringe parties, not really taken too seriously so far, thank heavens.

And finally, austintx, Danny La Rue was much loved, a wonderful showman who's 'Audience with Danny La Rue' shows were a must see. He will be missed.

Alaska Democrats announce intent to override Governor Palin. WooHoo!
------------------------------------------------
Alaska Report was having 'issues' it said, and wouldn't load for me.

How many more Republican votes would be needed than those already declared? And will the drama queen go to court?

Okay, that only sort of made sense. How about this:

Even if it is a repeat, it's such good news that it's fine if we see it twice. (how's that?)

Nan
probably needing sleep - y'think?
