    Just spotted this over at ADN.

    “Legislative leaders say they appear to have enough votes to override Gov. Sarah Palin’s veto of $28.6 million in federal stimulus money for energy cost relief. Alaska is the only state to have rejected these funds, and that’s not sitting well.”

    This could be interesting!

    “Thought” just in! Let’s create a black-comedy musical called, “Sarah Palin: The Musical!” Think along the lines of “The Producers,” and the 60′s gem, “The Loved One.” Tina Fey could star. The dance scenes in the red shoes, with the cossacks dancing across the pond. Levi, hunting, being plucked up by a helicopter while holding on for dear life to his moose’s antlers! (No moose were harmed in making this movie.) The baby making factory scene. The Katie Couric scene. McCain pulling out his hair! Sarah’s dress rehearsal trying to get the empathy belly to look “just right.’ The scene at airport security before the wild ride. Sarah idolizing W on tv for hours on end practicing to emulate his every move.

    This could be really big and it it could let Sarah & Todd go back to fish picking.

    Add your favorite scenes!

    I just read the link to the ADN re: Ligislative over-ride of the energy stimulus package, and am flummoxed by the following statement:

    “I’m not sure there’s a point in our overriding the governor’s veto because the governor still has the option of not applying for the money,” the Kodiak Republican said.

    Stevens said he doesn’t think it’s worth it to call a special session for a veto override. Legislators are also busy with their regular lives during the summer, and getting them to agree to a special session could be a problem. That means any override vote likely wouldn’t happen until the next regular session starts in January, and it’s not clear the federal government will wait that long.

    First of all, why the headlines “Lawmakers muster votes to override governor”, if they are not going to even try? Then I was amazed when Stevens said legs were too busy with their own lives to attend a special session on something this important. Am I dense??? Is there something here I’m not getting?

    tigerwine, there is no way they can compel Mrs Palin to apply for those funds, no matter what they do. In SC, it has taken a fairly lengthy court action to compel their lousy guv to do what’s right, and in that case there was a helluva lot more riding on it.

    New England economy could see gay-marriage boost

    Research shows that heterosexual members of the “creative class” — a group that includes financial whizzes, software programmers and educators — tend to regard states that allow gay marriages as more appealing places to live.

    “It broadly suggests you have an environment in which people who are seen as different are accepted,” said Gary Gates, the UCLA demographer who was the study’s lead author.

    Nan,
    My understanding of the course of events in SC is that the Legs overrode Sanford’s veto and passed a budget requiring him to accept the funds whereupon he, himself, filed suit in Federal Court to block them. The state Supreme Court ruled against him after considering arguments contained in lawsuits filed by many students and teachers.

    “South Carolina’s high court is ordering Republican Gov. Mark Sanford to request $700 million in federal stimulus money that would head primarily to cash-strapped schools.
    The state Supreme Court’s ruling comes a day after hearing arguments in Sanford’s legal fight to reject the money. The anti-bailout governor refused to take the cash even after legislators passed a budget requiring him to do so.”

    “Thought” just in! Let’s create a black-comedy musical called, “Sarah Palin: The Musical!”

    Back in the late 50′s there was a movie “The Red Shoes.” Grand opera type of plot only with a ballerina as the prima. She wants to be a super star ballerina and puts on the red ballet shoes for their magical powers.

    But when she puts on the magical red ballet shoes, they compel her to dance and will not let her stop. She dances the Tarantella (lore that the bite of the tarantula would cause a person to dance themselves to death) and the prima compulsively dances herself to death. I was still pretty young and found the movie nightmarish.

    Kind of fits. It’s just hard to accept Sarah as some sort of Classic tragic, Icarus type, figure. Bull in a china shop, rabid dog terrifies quiet neighborhood seems more apt.

    @ Marnie: You’re right, the movie, The Red Shoes, is really scary. But when I saw it I paid less attention to the story and just watched the dancing, which is fantastic. The movie came out in 1948, with Moira Shearer as the dancer. The story was based on a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale – that’s a rather disturbing thought, no?

    I would like to add some musical numbers to London Bridge’s offering of “Sarah Palin, The Musical.” There must be a scene of Levi & Bristol “parenting their butts off” while “home schooling.” It will be a complex number, intercut with scenes of Bristol on TV, counterpoint Levi on TV, Bristol, Levi, oh, my head is spinning.

    There should be a specialty number for Todd, dressed in Artic Cat Gear. (They can outfit the cast for free, in return for free advertising. It’s OK, Sarah does it all the time). And we must have a “Sound of Music” type number with all of the kids lined up singing “Dough re mi.” Of course their travel expenses and clothing will be paid for by the show.

    The other number is straight out of Gilbert & Sullivan, you know, the word patter song where the singer does each verse faster than the last, with alot of tongue twisters. We’ll have to use the Katie Couric interview word for word which was so successfully repeated by Tina Fey. Advisory to audience: bring alot of headache medicine. If we do it in a London theatre people will be able to drink at intermission. In the States, we’ll have to figure out some way for them to get through two acts without alcohol.

But, apparently, when Sanford filed his suit in Federal court, they returned it to the state Supreme Court and it seems they ruled on his suit as well. I can certainly be wrong, but basically, what I am saying is that it really didn’t take that long for the court process (April 16 to June 4). Why can this not be done in AK?

    From the court documents: “Governor Sanford’s refusal to comply with state law is based on what he asserts as contrary and controlling federal law—a claim of absolute discretion under the ARRA, specifically §14005. Although Governor Sanford removed these actions to federal court, the matters were remanded to this Court by order dated June 1, 2009.”

    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    Well, I would love to see the Leg. and the people of Alaska Stand up to her and tell her WHAT THEY WANT! Isn’t that what she said in her speech the other night? Or was she just trying to make a case for her to tell the FEDs what SHE wants?
    I want Alaska to stand up TO her! But I don’t see it happening.
    “Culture, Not Biology, Explains Math Gaps, Study Finds
    An analysis of contemporary data sets on gender and math ability finds that culture, not biology, is responsible for any gender gap in performance. The analysis appears in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and is based on a series of statistics, showing, for example, that girls at all grade levels now perform on a par with boys on standardized mathematics tests, that American girls are now taking calculus in high school at the same rate as boys, and that the percentage of U.S. doctorates in the mathematical sciences awarded to women has climbed to 30 percent, up from a nadir of 5 percent in the 1950s.”
    Well, maybe they do fit cuz the family culture is to do poorly in school.
    crystalwolf aka caligrl,
    Palin’s use of the term “bold” has a specific meaning in the context of so-called “spiritual warfare” of Pentacostal Evangelicals. I’m asking around for a precise definition, but it generally signals to others in Joel’s Army one’s willingness to ultimately do anything to further the cause of long-term spiritual warfare against all who would stand against the army’s principals, which include a return to old testament Biblical law
    A perfect example is the recent ‘Silla teabags…do you see them tearing up their permanent fund checks? Or rejecting them? Or GINO how many does her family get?? Yet they don’t want gov. to help them? Permanent fund is gov…state gov. that money could go for schools, energy assistance, and such through state programs.
    The same people that gladly take the fund, Cry NO to the FEDS, what a farce! Oh and I just read a article that GINO’s friend in charge of the fund, lost the database, and it cost $$$ to fix that blunder!!! The computer with the data hadn’t been backed up???     The video is 2 hours long but the documentary is a bit less than the first hour, with the rest being a discussion. The documentary was filmed in 2005, when the first lawsuit against the State was launched and lost, and lost again on appeal.
    Pat Conroy introduces the documentary and talks about his book, ‘The River is Wide’ (I think that’s it), about his experience teaching in SC. The book was made into a movie in 1974, called ‘Conrack’. I haven’t seen it.
    Excellent Editorial on ADN re: Andree McLoed’s email request and the legal case.
    One case involves the governor’s use of private e-mail accounts to conduct state business. She has said she stopped doing so, but the state continues to fight the lawsuit that seeks to end the practice.
    AND
    The lawsuit says that when Gov. Palin shares official state information with a private citizen — even the governor’s husband — the state has waived any right to keep the rest of the public from seeing it.
    In fighting the second case, the state’s lawyers argue the governor can share otherwise secret information about state business with this particular private citizen, because her husband is a “trusted adviser.”
    Allowing special treatment for a “trusted adviser” in the public records law is a dicey concept when that adviser is outside state government. What happens if that “trusted adviser” is a lobbyist who cashes in on his or her privileged access to the state’s chief executive?
    In this case, the courts need to draw a simple, bright line: If the “adviser” to a state official is not a state employee or contractor, that “adviser” has no privileged access to state information. Any official information shared with that private citizen must be available to the public at large. If the courts don’t draw that line, the Legislature should.</i<
Just when we expect to see Sarah in miniskirt with her trademark fm boots, she pulls a switch, coyly sticking out one foot with a red naughty monkey shoe. Then, it’s a double switch, and she’s wearing 4″ platform cork sandals done in shiny red leather! In the background, with strains of “A Pretty Girl is Like a Melody” playing, chorus girls parade across the stage wearing all of Sarah’s favorite outfits; we’ll have to steam out the wrinkles because some of the costumes have been in the black plastic garbage bag too long.     The other site had a posting about Joel’s Army and how this was some irrelevant secret group no one had heard of. Interesting, I posted that they could google it and find out about it. Maybe they obliterated my post because I said that SP had some beliefs in common with them. Amazing how little they want to know about their heroine.
    They stole that right off this blog, Phil’s response to me! Heh! From now on I will rip off their posts word for word. Never heard of Joels army, MAYBE YOU OUGHT TO VET HER BETTER, EH??? Just sayin’
    Apparently we’ve been mistaken all these months. That grifting, lying, rabble-rousing word-salad-spouting person who attracted our attention in a big way late last summer and into fall — she looks right into your eyes and “emanates the presence of God”.
    The person who had this apparent manifestation of the Holy Ghost knew this apparently because Palin looked right into her eyes with sincerity…from that this person could tell Palin was “the real deal”.
    I wonder why Palin failed to move Nick Tucker to the same degree of certitude.
    When I have more time I’m going to go back in this person’s blog archives and find out why she thinks “Sarah Palin is not a Racist” (see next-to-last comment).
    (note the LAST comment is from someone who thinks “Todd Palin is HOT!” I want to say something snarky here but am at a loss for words)
    Reagan knew that real change and real change requiring shaking things up and maybe takin’ off the entrenched interest thwarting the will of the people with their ignoring of our concerns about future peril caused by selfish short-sighted advocacy for growing government and digging more debt, and taking away individual and state’s rights and hampering opportunity to responsibly develop our resources, and coddling those who would seek to harm America and her allies.
    I just saw Patrick of PD trying to get truth out in pea brain land… UGH!!!! Impossible!
  167. 168
    samperNo Gravatar says:
    I thought Patrick at PD was one of “us”! Isn’t he one of the “moderators” at PD?
    As for timeline:
    Sarah said “There is a price for knocking up my daughter. That price is cutting your hunting trip short and going to the convention.”
    Campaign… Election… Blah blah blah….
    Tripp is born. One month later, Palins kick Levi to the curb.
    Levi becomes frustrated that he can’t see his son, things are bad, etc.
    Levi goes on … Tyra?… just to tell his side of things.
    IMHO: Palins FORCED him into the limelight and then got PO’d that he actually used it to get back at them.
    I think his reasoning COULD have been that if he made alot of noise, Palins would shuddup, siddown, and let him have equitable (50%) time with Tripp because they would be so embarrassed with the truth coming out about how they are controlling the entire parenting without giving him a say.
    This could be extended to agreement without courts.
    No clue on standing at present. Bristol was a be-atch to allow her mother to control things and should INSIST that Levi have quality time with Trip.
    Levi, on the other hand, should make a HECK of alot more noise if things haven’t improved yet.
    I’ve been saying all along, he should take the baby for an outing and just not return him. It’s not kidnapping… there is no court order and he is the legal father. Then BRISTOL will have to beg to see the baby and see what DENIAL is like.
    Knowing Palins, though, they would show up with a cop demanding the baby back. Even without a court order or ANYTHING, the cop would do whatever Palins want so he doesn’t become another Wooten.
  168. 169
    samperNo Gravatar says:
    I actually feel sorry for Levi. I think he wants to stay out of court, but the Palins make it next to impossible for him to see Tripp otherwise.
    Like they are SOOOOO much better than Levi’s family, with a lying hypocritical granny, a B&E sister, etc. It all shakes out when all the skeletons come out.
    Both families have their share of dysfunction, but Palins are certainly not “BETTER” by ANY stretch of the imagination.
    What a pathetic POS family (Palins, not Johnstons, and because of their holier than thou demeanor)!
