Socialist Whiplash with Hannity and Palin

8 06 2009

collar

There are times when commentary just seems unnecessary.

(From Sean Hannity’s interview on Fox News tonight with Sarah Palin)

Hannity:  By the way for all of us in New York, where we are now, where we pay 10% income tax, you actually give every citizen in Alaska a check back.

Palin: We are the only state with a negative tax rate (Hannity looks at the camera in disbelief and envy mouthing “I’m so envious(?)”)  where we don’t have any income, sales or property tax statewide, and yes we have a share of our oil resource revenue that goes back to the people that own the resources.  Imagine that.

Hannity:  And it went up higher since you’ve been the governor and you negotiated with the oil companies.  That all went up so people get a bigger check.

Palin:  There was a corrupt tax system up there and we had a couple of lawmakers end up in jail because of the tax system that was adopted so we cleaned it up and said we wanted a fair and equitable share of the resources that we own, and the people will share in those resource revenues that are derived.

********************************

5 minutes, and one wormhole into another dimension later…..

********************************

Palin:  If Americans aren’t paying attention, unfortunately our country could evolve into something that we do not even recognize.  Certainly that is so far from what the founders of our country had in mind for us.

Hannity:  Socialism?

Palin: Well….that is where we are headed.

    KaJo Says:

Off topic a bit, but still on topic as far as yesterday’s events are concerned:

I was also at HuffPo reading the excerpt from TheHill where some anonymous GOP congressmen were criticizing Palin over her ditzy behavior since the GOP loss in the election.

As they do in so many other instances where they detect negative reactions to Palin’s behavior, the see2pee’ers have been busy trying to pin the tail on that elephant — they’re determined to IDENTIFY and PUNISH the mean ol’ GOP’ers who asked for anonymity in that article.

If you read what one of the Chief Dementors over there has written, they’re judging and condemning several prominent GOP’ers based on far, far less evidence than what Palin’s Deceptions has unveiled in their investigations this last 9 months.

I guess the funniest thing about most of their windmill-tilting is that they don’t know which way to aim the lance: should Palin snub the GOP and repudiate the powers-that-be, or suck up to them and try to be nicey-nice, wedging her way into a position of power?

    ———-

Oh, and in their laugh-a-day pantheon of blog posts, they are saying that David Letterman is a “sexist pervert”. Someone apparently felt the need to don sackcloth and ashes, and watch the Letterman show, and was offended by #2 on Letterman’s Top 10 list for the evening:

“2. Bought makeup from Bloomingdale’s to update her “slutty flight attendant” look.”

Seems someone on Letterman’s writing team noticed that Palin has been caking on the makeup somewhat heavily, lately, and I suppose that last reference may have something to do with the miniskirts — but they didn’t mention the toenails!. The toenails should have been in the Top 10 list, too!

There is no other state that is run like Alaska. No other state has a separate revenue stream beyond taxes. Wyoming has a Fund but it doesn’ t seem to given away in checks, or shall I say, the wealth is not redistributed anywhere else.

Even IF she understood economics enough to understand how Alaska works, there is no other state or this country, that could be run the way Alaska is. How could Minnesota not have taxes? Take over the tourist industry and run it for the state?

Alaska is a very different place. She never really says it. It’s almost like she is taking the credit for the fact that there are no taxes. Like SHE put the oil there.

    Bret @ 96

You have to understand the righties’ Truth Rule – A grain of truth in a bucket of BS equals a bucket of truth.

Palin’s grain of truth is that the sales tax and property taxes in Wasilla are not statewide taxes. Never mind that it was Palin who manipulated the property tax to favor her fellow Republican (and probably fellow spritual warrior, witch-hunting, Dominionist) land owners, or that it was Palin who implemented the regressive sales tax (which includes food purchases). Also never mind that under her tenure as mayor, revenues rose 39% while expenditures rose 33%. Also never mind that she drove the town’s debt from less than a $1M to $22M+. Don’t you bother with those things, and remember what’s far more important – she’s a fiscal conservative, dammit! lol

Palin’s handlers have to the worst team going….who else can’t schedule an event…commit to a speech and make appearances anywhere except on Fox or other friendly right wing media outlets. Palin will explode and be a fading star of the GOP. the fun will come when she finally realizes how poorly she been handled and truly becomes the current butt of the jokes! It’s just starting folks and the laughs will be on her!

    Did I read this right?

“”"Palin: We are the only state with a negative tax rate where we don’t have any income, sales or property tax statewide… “”"

    – I thought 89 cities in Alaska have a sales tax,
    – We pay property tax in our Municipalities or Boroughs

Is she saying the State does not make an additional tax on top of local taxes?
Huhnh? What about the Alaska Department of Motor Vehicles and the state tax on other valuable assets like boats, etc?

[Sorry if this was already noticed - I didn't get through all the comments yet.]

As dumb as a sack of hammers. Anyone catch Dave Letterman’s “Top Ten” list last night? A couple were really eye-popping! The “Guv” is getting to be a major laughingstock while she’s on her “look at me” self-promoting tour.

When is it exactly that she governs in Alaska?

Michael Reagan did – in an Anchorage Daily News article last week. He referred to her arguing with her ex-son-in-law-to-be, the grandbaby’s(ies’) Daddy, in the press. Mentioned she needed to know when to shut up. Yes, it was written, ’shut up.’
Perhaps that is why she did not shake Reagan’s hand on stage at the introduction.

I haven’t read the comments, but (my initial thought hearing her speak) as a CA taxpayer, then Gov. Palin no more Federal Gov’t money for AK. Live off what you produce in revenue instead of any ear marks from the rest of the US federal monies. You’re on your own. And may you sink like a polar bear who’s iceberg melted our from underneath it.

“”Palin to speak along with Michael Reagan
Posted by Alaska_Politics Posted: June 2, 2009 From Sean Cockerham in Anchorage —Gov. Sarah Palin will show up for conservative talk radio host Michael Reagan’s speech in Anchorage tomorrow (it’s7:30 p.m. at the Alaska Center for Performing Acts – tickets are $34.50). Reagan’s topic: “What Would Ronald Reagan Do Today?” I spoke to Reagan on the phone today from the Seattle airport. Here are excerpts:

What role do you think Sarah Palin might play in bringing the party back?

Sarah Palin’s going to play a role mainly because of the position she had in the last campaign. She excited a lot of women within the party, they were excited about the fact that a woman in the Republican Party was actually in the position that could have been vice president of the United States…

If I had to say anything about the whole thing with Sarah Palin, is that the last thing she needs is to be in a fight with her daughter’s boyfriend on talk television and talk radio. I think that’s not good for her now or in the future. Sometimes you just need to shut up.” “”

Bretta, thanks for that!!! :D Wow, how stupid was she to go there and say a speech that got her in trouble (tickets were only $34.50) and he said that to her??? It could of been worse considering what he said about putting grenades in babies butts…I suppose, but I would of told him to eff-off, “screw political correctness” isn’t that what she said? And I wouldn’t of shown up to introduce him!
Or was that “screw political correctness” for his ears???
Whatever the RNC in bad bad trouble if all they have to offer is a aging ho, disgraced speaker, a guy who drives with his dog on the roof of his car, and all of them spouting off how they could run the country better when they can’t even run their own families!!!!
    GAK!
LOSERS!!!! I think the Dems will be in control for awhile. Get use to it WATB!

I can not wait until she is forced to debate the other canidates that are also running. Their will be no holding back like Biden had to do so he wouldn’t look like a sexist. Will she also agree to make an appearence on one of the Sunday talk shows? If she does she will be toast as soon as they force answers out of her like Couric had to do. I think she actually believes she can BS her way through the debates or the Sunday talk shows and debates thinking no one will notice her general answers. Remember the VP debates last fall when she did not answer questions put to her? I beleave she will also try again to give vague answers thinking it will appease the questioners. Everyone has caught onto her act. Anyway, it should be intertaining and entertaining when she shows how ignorant she really is.
