Palin Roundup – Make it Stop!
9 06 2009It’s hard to keep up with our traveling governor these days. Everywhere you turn, there she is. I’ve gotten more emails and links and stories than I know what to do with, and frankly the thought of writing up a whole post on each of these things gives me a precognitive headache just thinking about it. We’ve all got Sarah up to the eyeballs. But, for those of you who want to comment on any of the multitude of Sarah Palin stories out there, here’s the thread.
This is so “last week”
The Alaskan blog Mamadance has an excellent wrap-up of the Palin shenanigans last week here - Putting the P in WraP-uP just in case you missed anything.
Best Foot Forward?
Then, in the Big Apple, we had the mystery of the toenails. What the heck IS that on Sarah’s toes? You can vote HERE.
Number Crunchery
We’ve also found out that the “most popular governor in the country”….. isn’t. Nate Silver, numbers wizard from Five Thirty Eight reveals that Palin now ranks an ignominious 36 out of 50. Ruh roh… Who’s number one? Wyoming governor Dave Freudenthal. And he’s a Democrat! Go figure…
Now, children….
The Political Carnival asks, “Am I going to have to turn this blog around?” David Letterman zinged Sarah Palin with a “slutty flight attendant” reference, and she called him “pathetic.” Catch the whole story with videos HERE.
Begich Rising
Great article in Politico about the once semi-cozy, now chilly relationship between Governor Palin and Democratic Senator Mark Begich. Their approval ratings are in the same ballpark with Begich moving up and Palin…well…. Do you hear that whistling noise? That’s her approval rating plummeting from the cosmos and careening toward Earth.
And the former Anchorage mayor — perhaps emboldened by Palin’s nose dive in state opinion polls — has begun using the jet-setting governor as a political foil, contrasting his workmanlike, Alaska-obsessed approach with the glamorous governor’s appetite for Republican superstardom and the national stage. [snip]
Begich watchers say he’s trying to capitalize on the Palin paradox: The more she becomes the World’s Most Famous Alaskan, the more diluted her appeal to actual Alaskans, who expect their politicians to deliver federal funding — and not tabloid headlines.

What a load of crap regarding the Booth Luce letter! What is her loyal service to the country? Is it because her son is in Iraq or the fact that she was the VP nominee? WTF! And I wouldn’t mention her proven track record as Alaska’s governor – it’s not something to brag about. And this is what really gets me – accusing liberals of the church fire. Wow – that really is desperation. I do not believe the police have figured that one out, yet this letter claims to know who the culprit is. I live in Wasilla and I think I would have heard if the cops found the perpetrator and that person was a flaming liberal (how would you even know that?). Unbelievable. Who falls for this s–t?

Sarah Palin is powerful???
Hell’s bells but in a role where she could have been the nation’s most powerful voice on abstinence, not only she not keep herself from getting pregnant prior to marriage, she failed with her daughter as well. That’s some mightiful power.
I’m betting that she’s so powerful that if she pulled on my finger, she’d make me ___________ (fill in the blank). Or not.

Right now, wrong or right, Sarah is thinking her trip to New York & points south was a 110% success. She accomplished what she set out to do – get exposure! Or was it to get exposed?
_____________
I’m thinking I’d rather see an “exposed” anna nicole right about now… and she’s been dead for how long. … Sarah Palin makes Britney Spears look downright pretty.

Paula “——-Sad but true, while the Palin bots send 25 bucks for every evil comment we post, (or so they say). But we MF sure did help out Alaskans in need. Maybe AKM isn’t just about earning for HERSELF???? Hmmm…new concept?”
AKM has brought individuals together as family and what has been touched here goes far beyond the blog, truly making the world a better place. Priceless. The value of kindness circulated cannot be matched with a dollar sign. I am all for giving though. AKM shares so much, so often, anything that can be added to help continue the generosity, I feel is a pay it forward. Everyone benefits.

How true you back biting, sack sucking, ……..oops, wrong site. Yes, this site is filled with fun antics, but caring, thoughtful, insightful people as well.

Sarah Palin, powerful? Yeah, right. Sarah Palin is only powerful amongst the psychos in the shrinking far-right wing base. Conservatives hate Barack Obama because they are bigots, and can’t stand that he is the most powerful person in the world! He is the President of the U.S. He is the leader of the free world! Something Sarah Palin will never be. Sarah Palin is not the most popular governor, anymore. But President Obama is one of the most popular people in the world! And conservatives can’t stand it! Sarah Palin and the Palinbots are a bunch whiny toddlers. Geez.
June 9th, 2009 at 7:42 PM
AKM writes: “That’s it for now. I’m on a Palin hiatus.”

I could not agree more, as GINO’s ” low-key tour was quite tiresome! I’ve found just the thing to clear the palette…not to mention healing for the palinized overload. Enough already…

Barack Obama could top $400,000 in one month. I don’t believe SarahPac made $400,000 in a month. During the campaign the McCain campaign would lie about her and John McCain’s crowd sizes at their campaign rallies. Trying to top Barack Obama. Never. Sarah Palin has never drawn 100,000-200,000 people like Barack Obama has. If SarahPac was making so much money, why would she need to charge people $5,000 for a picture with her? Plus, Palin and her people lie all the time. They are desperate. Sarah Palin and her followers act like they are in junior high. She is unprofessional. She is worse than George W. Bush. Palin think’s she’s going to get a free ride in 2012. The republican primaries are going to be a blood bath. (And of course, Palin’s mouth will surely get her into more trouble.) I can’t wait to see how this psycho reacts. Palin and the conservatives won’t be able to blame the liberals. But they will, anyway. Conservatives, and Sarah Palin are jealous of Barack Hussein Obama.

AKM is in the THICK of it right now!!!
The Anchorage Assembly has begun a public hearing on a controversial ordinance that would ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. The measure has packed the panel’s chambers, with people spilling over into the Marston Theatre.
Hundreds of people are also outside the building, lining each side of the drive in front of the Loussac Library.
Red clad opponents toting signs that say “No on 64″ — the number of the ordinance — are on the south side. Supporters are on the walks closest to the building, loudly chanting “Separate Church and State.”
Eagle River-Chugiak Assemblyman Bill Starr and city finance officer Sharon Weddleton stepped outside to watch. They said they’d never seen anything like this at an Assembly meeting in Anchorage. Starr said everyone seems to be trying to stay civil.
Security guards at the door to the meeting room collect driver’s licenses as people want to step out. People have to identify their own license from a three-inch thick stack in the guard’s hand when they return.
Assembly chair Debbie Ossiander says 180 people have signed up to testify as of about 5:15 p.m. Ossiander says she feels obligated to let all of them have a chance to be heard, but reminded everyone there’s a three-minute time limit and that she will try to hold people to it.

ROTFFLaughing, David Letterman is a Sexist Pervert but John Ziegler’s outstanding is OUTSTANDING.
After seeing him in action no one here is terribly surprised by his behavior. Sexist. Check. Rude. Check. Whiner. Check. Self righteous. Check. Talks while he eats. Check. Ego maniac. Check. Walked out on after rude to date on TV show. Priceless.

thanks for that update Isabella!
Anyone who cares to take part, we’ve got a virtual hand-holding circle/sending positive vibes going in the “News from Assembly Meeting” thread for those mudpups who are not able to be at the meeting tonight.
Isabella, you might want to repost that info in the new thread if you haven’t done so yet.

My spouse, who doesn’t follow politics except to vote, even said to me today, “Palin’s in the news again. Why? You can’t understand anything she says. And what is she wearing! And what’s that on her toenails! She must be stupider than I thought.”
To myself, I was thinking, “You have no idea just how stupid she is.” I won’t bother to enlighten spouse, who is much happier going through life thinking that everyone has an IQ higher than a box of rocks and actually uses it to boot.

Yeah CT and NC (my old home and new home) !!!!! Both female govs. CT – a Rep who took over from a corrupt gop governor (now former felon) and has been in the job a few years and ranks #3. NC – Dem former Lt Gov, been gov here for just a few months. SP could learn a lot from both of these ladies.

Sorry My NC Gov ranks in just above SP at 35

GOP insiders talking critically about Palin after the Republican Senate House dinner/fundraiser:
“For a ‘woman of the people,’ she has got some learning to do,” sneered the insider. “Heck, she has a whole lot to learn. And get some decent staff around her. Most of the mistakes since November are not people out to get her. They are 99 percent self-inflicted by her own staff who are simply not up to the job of effectively serving a national political figure, which is what she has become.”
http://www.usnews.com/blogs/washington-whispers/2009/06/09/sarah-palin-snubs-washington-insiders-at-senate-house-dinner.html
—————————————————-
I agree that her mistakes have been ” 99 percent self-inflicted” but I’m not so convinced that it’s ALL her staff’s fault. It’s patently obvious that Palin clutches tetanically to the control of all decisions in her sphere of influence….and she’s totally refractory to learning. As a result, her poor decisions have resulted in an embarrassing, unending string of mistakes and goofy gaffes….making her appear unpredictable, unstable, and untutored.
The GOP may “use” her for fund-raising etc. but it’s clear from increasingly public GOP comments, (as in the article above, Gingrich’s comments in April, and the McCain staffers last fall), that not even the GOP takes her seriously.
A whole battalion of savvy advisors couldn’t turn this sow’s ear into a silk purse….and she wouldn’t let them anyway. She’s proud of being a sow’s ear. More power to her…..a sow’s ear belongs on a sow which belongs in a barnyard wallow. She can “screw political correctness” while wallowing….

Kerryann63, welcome to NC. Hope you enjoy it here. I’m a native Tar Heel and I love my state.
I can’t believe John Ziegler is back on the radio. Wonder how long he’ll last before being fired, again? Loved the way he called anyone who attacks SP a terrorist.
Kudos to Phil Munger for his appearance on the Eddie Burke show. There is an audio tape on Progressive Alaska of the exchange between Phil and Eddie. Phil was trying to ask Thomas VanFlea a question, but Eddie jumps in and talks over Phil and TVF never answers Phil’s question.
Thank you to AKM for all the excellent coverage you and the boots on the ground mudpups provided this weekend. Also, would like to give a shout out to Hope, her hubby, and carivan guy…you guys are the best.

I live here, too, and it would have been all over the local paper if they had figured out who did it and why.
If there was an award for jumping to conclusions, her supporters would get it.

************** ALERT ************************************
Clare Booth Luce Institute Letter Is probably a Scam (I put probably because of libel laws) and NOTHING TO DO WITH PALIN AT ALL.
The requested donation is for the Clare Booth Luce Institute not Palin. I can’t see a “Sarah Palin approves this message” or similar (or is that necessary for this?).
Effectively they are looking to raise money off the Palin name/controvesies.
They send out a letter all about how someone in the public eye is being attacked, make it look as if they are organising a support campaign and then ask for money for THEMSELVES not for the person they claim to support.
They are looking for DUMB people.
An Alaskan resident should be able to ask SP if she is aware of it.
This should be forwarded to SarahPAC, Alaska Government etc for confirmation or not that Palin is involved and, if not, we can watch the infighting that developes.
regards

Forgot to suggest above post needs tweaking to correct the “MORE MONEY” section.
Apologies for this but it is better to be correct than have mud on your face.

She has no sense of humor, she is so busy trying to flirt and look like a beauty queen. She was talking to some yo yo on the radio and he mentioned the slutty stewardess line, and she said “I haven’t been to Bloomingdales” “must have been a slow news day” ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
June 10th, 2009 at 5:14 AM
Since when are contributions to a political campaign tax-deductible?

Aussie Blue Sky “I don’t know if this has been mentioned, but I do know that the pic is no longer on Ms Chappell’s twitter.”
Doesn’t, Wolf, looked thrilled and seems David, got to her cause now Palin, dresses like she is going to a funeral. Although who knows since you cannot see her feet if she is totally ho free.
Is this lame duck going to stay out of state until the due date to pay back on her ethics violation passes? Someone should tell her she still has to pay it.

Who is Secretary Treasurer of the Claire Booth Luce Policy Institute?
Frank Donatelli.
Who was in charge of fundraising for SarahPac, before leaving the same day the Alaska Fund Trust was setup?
Becki Donatelli.
Yup, they are married.

OT: Anybody know what happened to the 2 guys who convinced McCain to pick SP as VP nominee? What soup line are thay standing in now?? Anbody know?
June 10th, 2009 at 6:38 AM
Rob in CA – Aha, the plot thickens. It’s funny, the article I read on Clare Booth Luce said that her voting record was rather moderate, even though she was very anti-communist and hung out with conservatives.
Let it Run – Do you know what those guys names were? I’d like to keep track of them, too!
June 10th, 2009 at 6:38 AM
I think I figured out the toenails–I think it’s supposed to be the Big Dipper and the North Star. And my guess would be rhinestones.
June 10th, 2009 at 7:24 AM
just googled Ms. Easton of the Clare Booth Luce Foundation – and she looks like the kind of woman who would worship at Palin’s altar.
Has the Luce family sued this person for stealing a family name?
also, the toenail painting looks like card symbols to me – hearts, clubs, etc.
or maybe it’s the witchdoctor’s incantation to prevent twisted ankles. Really, how can she walk in those things? And wearing them day after day – now we can assume she has a foot odor problem, which is way more than I care to know.
Sometimes I feel sorry for Alaska. Now that Blagojevich is gone, you’re stuck with the most excessive nutcase in high office. also too, you betcha
June 10th, 2009 at 7:49 AM
I thought the toenail looked like the Alaska flag.
The Bad Luck Fairy strikes again, Gov. Perry of Texas fractures collarbone, wasn’t Scarah off to Texas today?

June 10th, 2009 at 10:14 AM
OK, picky, picky of me. I’ve been away for a few days and haven’t yet read these comments so maybe someone has already noted this. Purchase IS NOT THE BIG APPLE. It’s nothing more than a subburb with some large corporations, including Pepsi which has a lovely sculpture garden and there’s a branch of SUNY (state university). But it’s not The Big Apple which is roughly 29 miles and approximately 45 minutes (when there’s not too much traffic) and several light years south of Purchase, NY. It’s a minor detail, true, but those of us who love The Big Apple will do whatever we can to keep the wormy Ms Palen out of it.
June 10th, 2009 at 10:19 AM
Well, now that I’ve read a bit more, apparently WHILE I WAS AWAY without benefit of computer or even real TV, someone let her into the City itself. I’m glad I missed it but I hope next time, someone will be more careful about shutting the door.
June 10th, 2009 at 11:24 AM
It’s become clear that Palin has no mind..she just gets wound up from time to time during the days…
I truly feel for you guys in AK..it’s got to be more than frustrating to have this bozo doing to your state every day what she says she wants to do to all the states…..NOT.
June 10th, 2009 at 2:48 PM
Medic and Let It Run – thanks for the names. I’m keeping track – you do the same!!
