The Palin-Letterman absurdity feud continues its tortured rounds through the news media. And finally….a shining clear voice of reason. A measured, cogent, insightful assessment of the situation. From…. Levi Johnston?
Johnston, 19, tells “Extra” he believes Letterman was referring to 18-year-old daughter Bristol aka the mother of his son, Tripp.
Levi tells “Extra” Letterman “might” have crossed the line a “little bit.” Johnston adds, “I don’t think he meant to hurt anybody. He’s a comedian. That’s what he does… people are going to make jokes and they’re going to talk and say whatever they want.”
Rats B-Gone?
Here’s a new twist on killing Alaskan animals from helicopters that I’m not going to complain about.
Alaska’s Rat Island is finally rat-free, 229 years after a Japanese shipwreck spilled rampaging rodents onto the remote Aleutian island, decimating the local bird population.
After dropping poison onto the island from helicopter-hoisted buckets for a week and a half last autumn, there are no signs of living rats and some birds have returned, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
The $2.5 million Rat Island eradication project, a joint effort between the U.S. federal government, the Nature Conservancy and Island Conservation, is one of the world’s most ambitious attempts to remove destructive alien species from an island.
Apparently some species of birds have returned to the island. New nesters include Aleutian cackling geese, ptarmigan, peregrine falcons and black oyster catchers (one of my favorites). They’re going to have to wait another two seasons to see if the island truly is rat-free.

Mark Begich on Ocean Policy
Senator Mark Begich has announced his support of President Obama’s development of a National Ocean Policy. From a press release:
Oceans play a crucial role in Alaska’s economy. The oceans sustain Alaska’s commercial fisheries which provide over 60% of the nation’s total catch. Rural Alaskans depend on the ocean to sustain fisheries resources that meet their subsistence needs, while urban Alaskans enjoy some of best recreational fishing in the world. Millions of visitors are drawn north to view our spectacular shoreline and the North Pacific is a major transportation corridor for international commerce.
Yet today the health of our oceans is in trouble. Warming temperatures, a diminished icepack and increased acidification are affecting fish stocks, marine mammals and entire coastal communities.
As the state with the most coastline in the U.S., Begich recognizes the fact that Alaska can contribute much to the discussion. Here’s hoping that this discussion includes support of policies for a sustainable ocean for ALL species, including humans.
Slutty Flight Attendants March on New York
Well, not really. But the master of satire, Andy Borowitz has a funny spoof up on the Huffington Post HERE.
Kendra Kalounis, the executive director of the slutty flight attendants’ group, said she had canceled a tanning appointment to attend the march and added that slutty flight attendants were a political force to be reckoned with.
“Do you know the difference between a regular flight attendant and a slutty one?” she said. “Lipstick.”

Go Sen. Begich. I can’t agree with him on everything, but I surely can agree with him on this! Good job.
Hooray on the rat eradication project. I hope there will not be any problems to the birds from residual poison? Our illustrious Mayor Bloomberg has embarked on a program to eradicate Canada geese from airports, specifically JFK, I believe. I understand the necessity, but I don’t like it (and while I often like Mayor Bloomberg, today I don’t). We truly have large numbers of geese here and they ARE a nuisance in that they are very messy. They have no predators so they reproduce in great numbers. It has been suggested that they be sterilized in some way and their eggs be shaken so they don’t hatch. I hate that they will be killed just for being in the way! This is what happens when nature is out of control just like the rats.

Now that Levi has found his voice lets hope he continues to speak freely. I’m sure that there are many topics that he could clear up. Clarify Sarah’s obfuscating comments would be a good starting point. First hand knowledge by Levi will rattle Sarah’s cage.

@wayney#13 I’m with you on Sarah adopting a new mission, ending the exploitation of women (and children). Let’s add to your good list: beauty pageants starting with those Little Miss Somethings (think Jon Benet) all the way up to Miss Alaska, Miss California and Miss South Carolina which parade women around in skimpy outfits and ask stupidly simple questions.
Let her pull a “Kathy Gifford” and work to eliminate child labor abroad which makes our clothes, shoes, etc. In fact, let Sarah address the international problem of selling children and women into prostitution. As long as Sarah is picking up causes, she can follow up on Tipper Gore’s campaign against really dirty and suggestive lyrics in the pop song culture. They suggest things far worse than Letterman did.
And finally, Sarah can dedicate herself to good works at home, paying for the rape kits for victims, offering a good rape support system for victims, generous funding for places that serve abused children, and a public information campaign. This is only a start; I’m sure that other readers can suggest their favorite charities, organizations, help groups. Wait a minute; do we really want to give her a means to establish her “credibility” and “gravitas?”

Well, the GOP hasn’t swatted her, but this guy Holstein sure did. It is more than a little harsh, KT, but well worth the read. Whew!
If Governor Palin really cared about women she would actually do something to help them in her state. Alaska has a horrible history of sexual violence. Palin is one of the few people in her state that could really make things better and make a real difference. She chooses not to.

BTW, I do not have the interiew with GINO and Blitzer in front of me, but I read it and SP was asked about President Obama’s handling of Israel and GINO was critical and said “I would advise Obama to…………” LOL! She now thinks she is an advisor to our President! OMG. I am still seething that she refers to our President as “he who must be obeyed.” Talk about a dog whistle to her angry, mob base.

I heard the comment about Bristol being in Alaska taking care of her family…it looked like a kind of “oops” or “oh sh*t” moment. Things are unraveling for Palin…she’s like a bleeding fighter just swinging wildly.
The joke was clearly about Yankee player Alex Rodriguez “A-Rod” and the media circus about his infidelity with celebrity women: Vegas showgirls, Playboy bunnies, Madonna and Kate Hudson.
Bristol Palin has been on a media campaign about her sexuality since September.
The obvious reference was that A-Rod is not to be trusted with new celebrity Bristol Palin. And perhaps, vice-versa? It can’t be mistaken for anything else; it’s crystal-clear. Ta-da!
Letterman certainly didn’t know or care who was in the Governor’s entourage. Can you imagine that he took time out of his life – in between taping shows, I guess – to pick on Sarah? He’s kinda busy. One more example of narcissism. It’s all about Palin, all the time. Can you say “persecution complex”?
Maybe Letterman is just jealous, like the rest of us, hmm?

Yup, every photo or video that has a slip about Bristol’s two babies gets erased. (Too close to the truth….I sure hope someone is able to capture those to use later if she runs for President) They know the truth and so do we. No birth records, no photos taken at the hospital of either baby. For a family that never turns down a photo opportunity, that is very TELLING. Palin could end this question that looms with some simple documents or a DNA test. So the Palins have been gone about 10-11 days including time at Six Flags in Texas. We have taken care of the Autism Walk and a Big dinner. She signed the pipeline deal while out of state. Why was that not done here? Too much negative press? Too many questions? She needs to get back here and start doing what she is paid to do.

Kinda sorta OT, but rich… watching MSNBC and there is an ad for “The Hair Bump” or some cutsie name… it lifts the hair on the crown of the head and gives you that sexy, professional bump in seconds. Suitable for all hair styles and will stay in place even when jogging… and we can all have “the look.” Can Lee Press-on Hair Extensions be far behind? (someone mentioned those last week and I am still laughing) Is this a sign of the Apocalypse?

Okay…I’ve been very busy emailing re:Palin vs. Letterman. I started with Brian Kolb the assemblyman from NY calling for Letterman’s resignation, moved on to our local tv station that has the story (comments are 100% for Dave) where I commented and also suggested that others write to Kolb. Finally to CBS in support of Dave. I’m just so sick of Palin pulling this crap and getting away with it! Anyway, it’s a gorgeous Sunday and I need to go sit by my pool and play with my grandchildren so the computer and all thoughts of you know who are getting put away for the rest of the day. Palin told Matt Lauer that her 14 yr old daughter, Willow, was with her at the baseball game that David Letterman made his “controversial” joke about. That “fact” is absolutely necessary as the basis for Palin’s faux outrage about Letterman’s joke.
However, I can’t find in any news story — dated BEFORE Palin started complaining about Letterman’s joke — that mentioned that Willow was with Palin at that baseball game. Also, I can’t find a picture anywhere of Willow being photographed at that baseball game.

I’ve been calling the creation from these gadgets the Palin bump. Started seeing it around here during her rise to infamy last fall.

I have been reading the remarks on this blog from people who are backing Palin, and others who are in support of David Letterman.
Needless to say, most of the Palin supporters who are representing the religious right have used gutter language. This should bother people in this group.
Since President Obama has been brought into this conversation, they in turn have opened the door, so to speak, as to President Obama’s call for better education in America.
One remark he has made over and over, is that parents need to turn off the TV and have their children get their homework done each day, before watching TV , videos games, and just plain wasteing time doing nothing.
If anyone watched the spelling bee contest recently, they would note that these children have been doing their part to further their education.
I also find that most people that have critized Letterman, are complaining about him naming a girl who is underage, and the word rape. If one would listen to the video of his show, they would not hear him say anything about rape, not does he name an underage girl.
All of this was the view-point of Sarah Palin in her remarks, which blows what Letterman did say, out of proprotion. Or say—knock it out of the ball park. Excuse the pun.
Hopefully we can all put this soap opera behind us, and get on with making a difference in ourselves, and community.
Otherwise, we will find ourselves up the well known estuary without means of propulsion. ——————————

Hopefully they will not have many at the Rally to fire David Letterman tomorrow.
I got a list of e-mail addresses, and telephone numbers from their web page and wrote a message to all I could , asking that they STOP this Rally.
Also, I made several telephone calls yesterday to CBS and also sponsors of the David Letterman show, to give my support to David Letterman.
Since the offices I called were closed yestereday (Sat.), I left messages for them to STOP the Rally .

Here is why Palin is really complaining about Dave:
Many people have commented that all of the other late night comedians have made similar jokes about Palin’s family but Palin said absolutely nothing about those jokes. So why all the faux “outrage” now about Dave’s joke?
The answer is very simple:
Palin is now in crisis mode. Last week she was caught red handed plagiarizing. That is the kiss of death for a politician.
So, to distract everyone from Palin’s very serious and career ending plagiarizing problem, Palin decided to complain as much as she can about Dave’s joke.
This phony controversy is not about Dave, or Dave’s joke. It’s all misdirection manufactured by palin to distract us all from her plagiarizing problem and create the illusion that Palin’s family has been victimized.

Palin also claimed that her daughter Willow was at the baseball game that was the basis for Dave’s joke, so that Palin could pretend to be outraged because Dave’s joke was supposedly about the “statutory rape” of Palin’s 14 year old, Willow. However, Palin is a bold face liar because Willow was not at that baseball game.
It takes a very sick person, a pathological liar — like Sarah Palin — to unequivocally lie with a straight face during a national broadcast television interview.
Despite Palin self-serving claim, there is no news story that mentioned Willow being at that game — BEFORE Palin made her claim that Willow was there. And there is no photograph anywhere showing Willow at that game.
So, palin is a liar and a fraud and is again using her children as props just to help her stay in the news. Horrible mother. Horrible person. Horrible politician.

I just saw a news piece about Blagojevich. He was referred to as “Ex-Governor” Blagojevich. How sweet it would be to see that title in front of Silly Sarah’s name.

Wow. I was out of town (and out of touch) for 4 days, and I turned on my computer when I got home. The main story on AOL was about Palin on the Today show STILL making a fuss about Letterman. I cannot believe she is still making news over this.
Has anyone in the media brought up the fact that Palin verbally attacked Levi in the media? She called him an opportunist and liar. Why are Palin’s “children” off limits, but it’s O.K. for Palin to verbally attack a child from another family? This just makes me sick.
Palin may be winning the media battle now, but she has lost the war. Wait until she NEEDS Letterman for publicity (when every other Presidential candidate has been on his show). He won’t forget this.

I can’t provide that, but if we wait until she has to make those gift declarations, then we’ll know. She and Todd went, yes? So she has to declare 3 if Willow was there.
Unless Meg or anyone else outside the family went too, but then, Meg would, I presume, have to declare hers.
This is the same way Kris Perry got thrown under a small bus and had to pay for it out of her pocket – she “thought” the Gov. or state of AK was going to pick up her ‘workin’ on the campaigne trail’ tab (no doubt SP convinced her “her way would be all paid” I don’t doubt).
But in any case, SP only has to declare gifts to her and her family. So, if Willow was there, she gets to pay “the Feds” income tax on the value of (as I see it) THREE seats to the game, rather than two.
someone has to know if Willow was there. There have to be photos from the event or someone who was there must have seen something.
If Palin keeps trashing everyone in the media, will they finally say ENOUGH—and not interview or talk about her anymore? She is still bashing Couric and Gibson, and now Letterman. Anyone who mentions (or interviews) Palin is taking a big risk. She is know to throw anyone under the bus to save herself—-even a teenage boy (Levi).
One would think that it’s not worth the risk—-she can attack at any time.
If there is a push from the right to get Letterman fired, I’m thinkin’ that Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck (and company) should be fired first? Do they really want to start that war? What they say each day is much worse then this non-incident.
Plus, it would be political suicide for Palin to get Letterman fired. She would be done….finished!!!! Even now, she may be toast. I would think that Palin’s little outburst wouldn’t sit well with that any comic, talk show host,ect. They should all agree to ignore her.

Wow, it’s taken a really long time for her to lose grip of that particular facade. Recall the video clip of the Palins coming onto the stage- I think it was after the RNC speech – when she takes a Trig from Bristol, turns directly to face the cameras, baby in her outstretched arms,, and CLEARLY mouths “MY BABY”. Not to the baby mind you, no, she doesn’t warmly receive the baby, she just holds him out as a prop. To me, that was a frighteningly calculated psycho maneuver.
And Bwahahahah to her faux concern about women’s self esteem . She has to attach some legititmate “cause” onto her phony outrage, or as someone once put it, “it’s nothing, mixed with nothing wrapped in whole lot of nothing”, or something like that.
She supports freakin’ beauty pageants for goodness sakes !! IMHO, the epitome of misogyny.

According to this phrase in The New York Daily News — which’d I’d read before, I just didn’t realize the significance of it — “the Palins left sometime in the sixth inning for the [Independent Group Home Living Foundation] award ceremony honoring Palin.”
The Yankee game started at 1:10 PM EDT on Sunday June 7th. It wasn’t a nighttime game.
The 6th inning was around 3:00 PM in the afternoon, which would have given the Palins lots of time to get to the awards ceremony.
Therefore, even if a photo of Willow being at that game ever does surface — if the Palins left in the 6th inning, they wouldn’t have been there for the 7th inning, which is when a Palin daughter was supposedly being “knocked up” by Alex Rodriguez!

Beyond that. Willow’s birth date — everyone say it with me — is 1/21/94. Which makes Willow 15-1/2. Reason (I’m led to believe) that the Palin parents (both of them) reduced her age to 14 is that 15 is the legal age in Alaska? And NOBODY has a photo that shows any Palin child at the ballgame. Negative evidence, but still — If it’s true, at some point without EVER touching on one of her children again, the so-called comedian will take SP to pieces.
It’s like poking a 20-headed dragon. I mean, you don’t think the other late-night so-called comedians are going to take this lying down?
I know the 1/21 date has been around for a while but a number of sources are saying now that Willow’s birthday is in July.
I have a thought. Maybe Letterman should invite Levi to the show since Sarah refused. This would really get her publicity but maybe not the kind she would like.

I’m inclined to believe she was there because Palin attended with Giuliani and his wife. And, if Willow was absent, and Rudy and wife are keeping quiet, that would make them Accessories To this Fraud.

I just had a thought about baby Trig. Has anyone thought to ask Levi who Trig’s real mother is?? I am sure that he knows the truth. Also think his sister knows something, and the Palins don’t like her. So many questions with no answers.
