Anchorage Assembly on Ordinance 64. Round IV – Pictures
24 06 2009Who knew he was a “rascist?”
Does every Republican in their right mind keep this guy at arm’s length, you wonder? Nope. This is the guy whose radio show is the favorite haunt of Governor Palin, her lawyer Thomas Van Flein, her spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton, and a host of others in her administration.
It took me a minute to process this one. Red shirt with Equality Works button?? Huh? Then I realized they were spoof shirts. Clever.
The “blue” signs were quite thoughtful. Since they are all homemade, instead of the “all the same” red ones, they reflect a variety of angles on the issue.
The red crowd was out in force. Even the testimony seemed like an endless stream of Bible verses, bathroom stories, and quotes like, “I don’t want to live my life in FEAR!” The answer? Don’t.
This kid kept yelling out at passing cars, “Come on man, HONK!” I didn’t hear anyone honk, although he got a “Wooooooo!” from a young teenage girl in a back seat.
Maybe next time someone should stand next to him with a “Honk if You Can Spell” sign.
Lots and lots of kids yesterday.
Yup, he testified in it….
And let the mental healing begin…

ADULT CONTENT WARNING….
“Teabagging Racist”
LOL
Eddie might want to look this up on the internet – I have seen it used as sexual slang meaning “putting a persons tes****les in anothers mouth”.
Pretty funny that he is wearing a shirt that says he does that when he hates gays! If he is a “teabagger” would that not make him gay?

Burke didn’t need all those qualifiers on his T-shirt. “Terminal Dumb Ass” would have been enough.

Palin took the time to denounce Linda Kellen Biegel’s use of a photo linking her with Burke – with over-the-top pearl-clutching narcissistic zeal:
Recently we learned of a malicious desecration of a photo of the Governor and baby Trig that has become an iconic representation of a mother’s love for a special needs child.
The mere idea of someone doctoring the photo of a special needs baby is appalling. To learn that two Alaskans did it is absolutely sickening. Linda Kellen Biegel, the official Democrat Party blogger for Alaska, should be ashamed of herself and the Democratic National Committee should be ashamed for promoting this website and encouraging this atrocious behavior.
Babies and children are off limits. It is past time to restore decency in politics and real tolerance for all Americans. The Obama Administration sets the moral compass for its party. We ask that special needs children be loved, respected and accepted and that this type of degeneracy be condemned.
I love the fact that Palin’s own spokesperson claims that the photo “has become an iconic representation of a mother’s love” – you do think highly of yourself, don’t you, Sarah?
She always cranks out statements whenever it’s All About Her – no mention of other issues, including Iran, Health Care, etc.

I state once again I am straight, married, male who is also a small business owner.
Seeing those red shirts (INSERT STAR TREK JOKE) and I want to be violent. I know I am juvenal or unevolved or something, but seeing hate and intolerance makes me want to hurt people the stupid people spewing that message. ( I am however smart enough to know that wont solve anything, and my wife keeps me away). I do have a police scanner and maybe next time I will help live blog with what the police are saying. (they say some interesting stuff)

Please save the photo of Eddie Burk and that hideous tshirt – That will be political gold if sarah ever dare enter the National Political Arena. Please explain that joke, Palin.
Sarah pals around with Homophobic, Red Shirt, Bible Thumping Nazi, Gay Bashing, Teabagging Racist White Guy Bigots. Sounds about right.

All I Saw: Exactly. Not once has a member of the GLBT community knocked on my door to try and convert me to being ‘teh gay’ (as our conservatard friends like to put it). Gay people I know are most certainly comfortable with the way they are and don’t need to scream it in our faces, like some (emphasize some) religious groups do.
The red shirters feed off of fear. It’s one of their main food groups. Take fear away and replace it with *real* compassion and empathy and the underpinnings of their ‘arguments’ start falling apart.
The red shirters claim this ordinance will take away from their rights. Whaa? This ordinance is only a net positive for everyone. It will give the LGBT community a set of much needed rights, and will only serve to strengthen the equality rights that are already in place for other groups in Anchorage.

adadventurer: I would love to hear the police scanner comments. That would be gold.

I appreciate the glass of wine and pupus photos at the end of these painful photo spreads!

Palin pallin around with racists, and bigots and homophobs, and nazis, and….on a political level Burke did everybody a favor wearing that piece of sh*t shirt…it will lump Palin in with her crazy H8R base for sure….hopefully Shannyn will get that shirt on the Huff…

I was showing these photo’s to a couple of neighbors a bit ago and one had a beautiful comment/quip:
“Why doesn’t he write ‘horse’s arse’ on there, too?”
June 25th, 2009 at 9:17 AM
anadventurer – Right there with you. I would be arrested for assault and inciting a riot if I saw Eddie in that shirt. Said what I would do at the beginning of this thread. I have some Gay bodybuilder friends who can have whats left when you and I are done.

Are Alaskan boys insecure about their ‘manhood’? Methinks they dost protest too much. They seem to suffer from delusions of inadequacy.

I know lots of Alaskan boys that can’t understand why you would want to hate on someone for reasons that are really not another person’s business. I grew up in Alaska – in Fairbanks and Anchorage – and I cannot recall a single male friend who is homophobic. Live and let live. To each their own. Who am I to say? All these are the phrases I grew up with here.
As a lifelong Alaskan let me point out to you a common personality trait amongst most of us. Boredom. Yeah the mountains are great, can’t live without ‘em – yadda yadda – but really, we are bored. Bored of the same people at the same office at the same grocery store. We tolerate the boredom because every once in awhile we catch a really nice King Salmon =-) Not to mention access to some of the world’s wildest wilderness.
The only cure for this special Alaskan brand of boredom is new faces, new people – new cultures and frankly NEW HUMOR. All the real Alaskans I know really really love people and understand the value of individuals because for some of us – real people, I mean people that cut through the crap and make us laugh or smile or cry tears of joy – come along only once in a Blue Moon.
(My God how utterly tedious would be the life of an ABT’er, the same people spewing the same crap, making the same jokes, praying for the same damn thing – over and over and over).

I guess the reason Eddie remains on the air is complacency and acceptance.

__________
No, Eddie remains on the air because controversy sells. People like him, O’Reilly, Hannity, Savage, Beck, Rush, Malkin et.al are adept at driving hate and controversy and people tune it to hear it. Many people listen because they agree, many listen because they don’t…but people do listen.
June 25th, 2009 at 11:14 AM
Agree. I can’t stop thinking about Eddie’s tshirt. I would like Palin to explain this Media Personality’s off color joke like she expected from David Letterman.
The photo needs to get to HuffPost.

Astounding.
Eddie Burke wouldn’t happen to be a fan of Rush Limbaugh, would he? Looks like he’s got a hero he’s trying to emulate.
What a little man for being so…er…rotund.
And this is a man that our governor shows public support of???
Does she- actually, ALL of our elected representatives- realize her job is to promote the needs and wishes of the entire state, and not just groups within the community?
I’m continually ashamed of my state. For being so “Christian” people like this are so hateful, mean spirited, and just plain vile.
