Wow! I feel so…..scholarly!
I’d like to thank all of you who have been so supportive of the blog, and of my application! This is a really exciting opportunity, and a wonderful chance for me to learn and meet other bloggers, and expand my horizons a bit. And it also means that you all will get to come along, because I plan to be blogging about it and tweeting and facebooking and taking pictures, and all that good stuff. Netroots Nation will happen the second week of August in Pittsburgh.
Right now, I’m still a little bit in shock…. But I did want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. You guys are the best!

The fourth annual gathering of the Netroots (formerly known as the YearlyKos Convention) will be held August 13-16 at the David L. Lawrence convention center in Pittsburgh, PA. Netroots Nation 2009 will include panels led by national and international experts; identity, issue and regional caucuses; prominent political, issue and policy-oriented speakers; a progressive film screening series; and the most concentrated gathering of progressive bloggers to date.
I too think you should be teaching a seminar on blogging at Netroots! In any event, you will be sharing information with everybody there as well as soaking in information. They are lucky to have you with them. Hurrah!

I’m guessing the scholarship covers air travel and reasonably-priced hotel stay for the duration of the conference/workshop/thingamie. But if not, if AKM’s internet writing is bringing in any income at all, this trip is absolutely a business trip, and has legal tax deductions associated with it, travel expenses being among them.
I’m sure AKM will let us know if a begathon of our own is in order.
In the meantime, let’s get those yellow boots dancin’ and kickin’ their heels!

Does anyone remember? There was another contender that was running close to AKM for a while. Can’t remember his name.
His blog was about Appalachia and several posters here thought he also had an excellent, informative blog. I want to keep any eye out for him, check out his blog and perhaps vote for him next if he’s still in the running. He might be an interesting person for AKM to meet, given the differences but similarities concerning rural AK.
