Open Thread – Comic Relief
30 06 2009The last post got everyone pretty steamed. I know I was. Reading through the comments, I noticed that Martha UYS suggested that the governor needed to be hit with a fish. I immediately thought of this.
What you need to do is imagine that the guy on the right (who, ironically enough, I believe is Michael Palin) is the governor. John Cleese, on the left, represents the residents of the villages in Western Alaska.
Enjoy.

Just saw this quote with the Runners’ World photos (WTH?):
“When I run, I’m totally incognito because I’m not wearing the trough full of makeup. I can go running through a mob of tourists and they don’t recognize me.”
SO true–nearly ran her over one day right after the inauguration when she was running on the road (the Dud was on the sidewalk…)…
_______________
You showed admirable restraint. I would probably not. And then I would have backed onto the sidewalk

I think someone should check into a comment I read on one of the blogs today. The poster said that when people try to give money to Palin to help pay for soldiers to get home for visits that the donors are told to give to SarahPac/Sarah Trust Fund. I have tried doing a google search without any success looking for a site to donate money to the troops. All I get is SarahPac.
If this is true, wouldn’t it be a FEC violation? You can’t solicit money for one purpose and use it for another, can you? Isn’t that illegal? Has she even set up a fund to collect money for the soldiers as she indicated in one of her tweets?

InJuneau @ 214 – the tourists go by because they are smarter than Palin and believe it’s better to ignore the bad accident.
I am surprised she was running without secret service protection. Most of the Service can run a mile in under 6 minutes so I don’t believe she was by herself. As for needing stitched… for what? A little road rash from falling down?
I’d like her to challenge me in a marathon… bet I could run from Hopkinton to the BPL and back to Hopkinton before she got to Wellesley College.
btw – sent a note to RW that I will not be renewing due to the political coverage of Palin. It’s supposed to be a runner’s magazine, not rag full of Palin fluff pieces.

Just a random spasm of fear: But what if Franken turns out to be a Blue Dog Dem?
__________
What’s wrong with having a blue dog dem? A step up from Coleman, imho. I consider myself a blue dog on most issues; doesn’t make me a bad person, does it?

Comment on that other blog
Success= preparation + opportunity
Sarah has been given the opportunity by McCain and she now has two years to build on her superatar talents to prepare for the primaries. After that SUCCESS is just a matter of steady execution.
If you knew you had to sink a putt to keep from losing who would you rather see over that putt?
Answer: Tiger Woods
If you could choose one GOP current politician to bring off continual fiery and inspirational performances during the primary debates and in so doing galvanize the entire country who would that be?
Answer: Sarah Palin
The defense rests

“fiery and inspirational performances during the primary debates”???
All she did was wink, say Aww Joe don’tcha know, and look like a beauty pageant contestant. Sorry, Sarah, I was not galvanized.

lol! It really dumbfounds, as well as, astounds me at how much they drink of her kool-aid. It is unbelieveable
June 30th, 2009 at 7:56 PM
I believe a number of people were galvanized, all right. Galvanized into learning more about SP, and right into voting for the “other guy.”

will someone tell Sarah Louise to Parker her butt somewhere and shut-up….

I don’t know if this has been asked yet (I haven’t read all comments), but the guv tweeted yesterday that TN would be ruling on that kid that hacked her email account. I googled, but found nothing. I wonder why she didn’t tweet about that today. Heck…she didn’t say much at all that was significant as far as I can tell.

I wondered “what charity” when I read that twi – tweet she posted.
I think you’re right. I wish we knew where that person saw it – capture a screen shot or something. That might be something that the “other” guys would be interested in (anyone other than the personel board).

I took a look at the Runners World photos of Palin out of curiosity about the “flag” pose….
Now, I’m very admiring of anyone who takes exercising seriously, as Palin apparently does, but I fail to see how any of those contrived poses have anything to do with the sport of running. Quite frankly, they looked more like the simpering poses of my daughter’s 15 yo friends on their MySpace pages.
Anyhow….I agree. The pose with the flag was an unwarranted display of concupiscence mixed with an oddly scripted attempt at “casual patriotism.”
BTW….Is there such a thing as “casual patriotism?” Does it consist of throwing a US flag over a chair back while one leans on it in a runner’s get up while flirting with the camera man?…..I guess I’m not familiar with that. We always took our flag down from the pole and folded it respectfully for storage at night.

regarding palin and the flag there is also the small sign on the left of her hanging on the window that says ARMY, she does try to cover all of her bases.

Maybe I am reading far too much into GINO’s statement concening that she can outrun President Obama in a race. I see her metaphorically and snarkily saying that she can beat him in a presidential race. Does anyone else get that idea or is it just me?
June 30th, 2009 at 11:39 PM
Nah, I think she likes the sound of “I can beat Obama in a race” – defying history (I’d meant to type “denying” but “defying” works well, also too)
