Open Thread – You Can Own Sarah Palin’s Truck!

palintruck2

So says the Ebay listing for the 1997 red Nissan 4×4 pickup.  Bidding closes at noon (Alaska time), July 1.  The last time we saw a Sarah Palin item on Ebay, someone ended up making $2025  on a pair of used naughty monkey peep toe pumps that regularly sell for about $90.

This time, the lucky winner could drive away in Palin’s used truck, for a minimum bid of $6500.  Not bad. For the price of 3 pairs of used shoes…and an extra heel, you could be cruising around town in this baby.

One of the listed owners of this vehicle was Alaska’s Famous Governor, former United States Vice-Presidential candidate, and possible 2012 Presidential Candidate, Sarah Palin.

This truck was involved in a wreck and was purchased from an insurance company with a salvage title.

Upon closer inspection, the registration to Todd and Sarah Palin (see in pics) was located in the glove compartment along with a mix CD. This truck was likely the one that Sarah drove around in Wasilla Alaska during her early political days as that small town’s mayor.

The hood, radiator, grill, and the front fender and bumper were replaced. The truck has a Sony Xplod CD player and Sony Xplod speakers. It has a tow package and an aluminum tool box. Additionally, it has a “Sarah Palin for Governor” bumper sticker, probably stuck on there by the First Dude himself!

We don’t know all the details about this vehicle. There may be a mystery behind it, or even a cover-up! Maybe you can figure it out!

Shipping to Seattle or Anchorage is included in purchase price. For the right price, we may be willing to deliver anywhere in the lower 48.

If the truck, located in Petersberg, Alaska,  sells for more than $10,000 the lister says that he’ll donate 10% of the selling price to the Alaska Special Olympics.  The number of bids so far, with only a few hours to go before the close of the auction?  None yet.  But there’s still time to sign up!

And whoever made the listing obviously has a sense of humor and a little too much time on his hands.  This and several other humorous photoshopped pictures accompany the listing, which shows the truck from every conceivable angle.

It just brings a whole new meaning to “Ebay sniper.”

A huge ‘iconic’ Australian company was recently bought by Sara Lee and most of the production has now been shipped to China (together with $15 million worth of machinery paid for by the federal government – ha!). There are a lot of brands to boycott now, but Australians are doing exactly that. We’ll miss a lot of those brands, but we’ll miss the jobs even more.

If they want to make huge shareholder profits in the third world that’s their business, but nobody has to buy their brands – ever.

It’s appalling that these companies feel free to do such things at a time like this. They deserve to go out of business. Who needs ‘em?

Under the heading Respect for the Flag, the code states, “The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.”

Though adherance to the Flag Code is optional, some people take it pretty seriously, as the American Flag wall of shame demonstrates, and a lot of them are in what Palin would consider the “pro-America areas of this great nation.” You shouldn’t drape it over a chair like a cover you bought at Bed Bath and Beyond.

Here is the article on the spat between Jay Ramras and the “fan website” Thank you Honesty In Gov for telling me about this article

    http://www.ktuu.com/Global/story.asp?S=10615662

In the article Jay Ramras says that that group makes anti semitic statements on their site. Does anyone know why or what those are? It doesn’t surprise me one bit. R says that Sarah has a flag of Israel but people from Sarah’s strange fringe extreme religion do not support Israel for the reasons Jews support Israel: And on a recent video of the religious group, they had several anti-semitic statements. I think they are called Joels army and their intent is to “control the banks” along with the other 6 pillars (their words) of society…..

They are a scary group and I hope people focus more on this-it has been discussed a lot on other blogs lately.

If you read “the other site” and I don’t want to talk about it too much here, the owner (sorry) is out of her mind…..I have never seen a more stobburn closed minded individual in my life (based on her writings). Sarah has become such a mission to her, it is pretty frightening to think what will happen when Sarah does fall and she will fall.

Revelations fuel calls for resignation; GOP petitioners grow
Latest details tip scales for many
By RODDIE BURRIS, CLIF LeBLANC and GINA SMITH – rburris@thestate.com cleblanc@thestate.com gnsmith@thestate.com

    Updated 11:40 a.m.
Twelve of the 27 members of the state Senate’s Majority Caucus now have signed a petition, calling for Gov. Mark Sanford to resign.

The latest Republican to sign was state Sen. Wes Hayes, R-York, chairman of the Senate’s ethics committee.

Pressure is mounting Sanford to step down after he disappeared to Argentina for a week without telling anyone where he would be, confessed to an extramarital affair with an Argentine woman and acknowledged additional unspecified inappropriate relationships with a handful of other women.

Two additional senators considered among Sanford’s staunchest allies, also said they want him to resign though they did not sign the letter. Two other senior senators who spoke to the State said Tuesday’s revelations moved them closer to asking Sanford to step down.

The letter was crafted by Senate Majority Leader Harvey Peeler, R-Cherokee, and was circulated among Senate Republicans on Tuesday.

Curious that SP hasn’t opened mouth/inserted foot on this topic….nor the VF article on her (yet???)…

Troopergate appears to have dominated state costs for ethics complaints

From Sean Cockerham in Anchorage –

The state personnel board has now posted its expenses for dealing with ethics complaints against Gov. Sarah Palin and her staff, saying the costs has been nearly $300,000 over the past year.

Most of the expenses –$187,797 — appear to have come as a result of the “Troopergate” investigation of Palin that the governor herself initiated. Palin did so because, she argued, the Legislature’s investigation on the matter was politicized and she was seeking the appropriate venue to air the allegations.

Click here to read the list.

I was off yesterday when the numbers were released, so I’ve just started going through them. But the other biggest case expense — $43,028 — was also from last year. The

list doesn’t specify the nature of each complaint listed so it takes some deduction to figure it out. The list calls them “independent counsel expenditures” and only provides case numbers followed by total expense per case. The personnel board wont say which case numbers correspond with which complaint, so it takes some deduction to figure that out.

The chronology of the list suggests it could be the complaint where Andree McLeod contended Palin and some staff members used their influence to get a Palin supporter a job in state government. It was dismissed but the board investigator recommended ethics training for a close Palin aide.

    ————–

What would your reasoning be on that? Everyone of course is entitled to a choice and opinion and mine is I don’t agree with you. If it is thought to be a hit against Palin — it’s actually a hit against special needs kids/adults. Trigg is not in Special Olympics right now due to age.

Special Olympics kids/adults didn’t ask to be made a political pawn. It is a fact that when Trig gets older he will be able to participate. There are far too few outlets for these kids/adults to participate as it is. It’s difficult for them to participate on teams with regular kids. Many don’t have the speed or the ability to keep up. They are made fun of, get hurt many times. Parents of these kids are strapped with medical bills which restricts a lot of the kids from participating in sports as they cannot afford the equipment needed. In many cases, there is only one income in a family as it is necessary for one parent to stay home. Too many parents who have tried to hold a two income family have found the mother getting fired from the job due to the number of hospital stays, the number of phone calls that the child is sick and has to pick them up at school. It’s not easy to find daycare for a number of these kids as the workers are not medically trained to address issues. Having talked with a number of people involved in Special Olympics in the U.S., there have been far too many stories of the parents loosing their houses due to medical bills.

I can say this as I know — I spend hours all year long on the phone and online fundraising for Special Olympics to cover costs of equipment, fees for facilities to play the sports as there is no break in costs because they are special needs, to cover the cost of transportation to events for them to compete with teams from other areas, the list is endless.

I’m not posting this to PO you or anyone but when I read your post, it made me take a step back as the Special Olympics are not “Sarah Palin”

An attempt at investigating the ethics complaints and what they have cost the state. And yes, it’s pretty clear WHICH one cost the state the most, just like it cost the twit the most.
    ——————————————–
The Juneau Empire story has the cost attributed to each complaint… but not identifying it by ‘ Name ‘. They give it a number and they follow in sequence. As each new complaint comes it it gets the NEW number in sequence. If you put the names of the complaints (and who filed them ) on a sheet of paper and just follow the order of them numbered sequentially… we KNOW how much each complaint was. Even GINO could figure this out.
And since there were only two in 08 it is proof that the Troopergate investigation cost the 187K. Their statement….
    ———————————————–
“However, the timing, scope and other factors of the single largest expense appear to fit the case Palin filed against herself that cost $187,797 to investigate. That’s almost two-thirds of the total $296,042 of all Personnel Board investigations in the last two years.”
    ————————————————–
So two- thirds of the cost SHE created… it is NOT Millions and is not even $600K. But Kristan and Alaska trust Fund want more Money.
Juneau Empire needs another story. I am sure AKM, Gryphen or any one of the other blogs will do a side by side with this ‘ cost List ‘ and prove she has lied… AGAIN!! The numbers are from the Alaska Personnel Board. HARD COLD FACTS….. nothing in dispute.

One would think SOA smart enough to charge Gino not just for the travel expenses owed but also for the cost to the state for investigating the fact she owed them.

State spent nearly $300K fighting governor’s ethics complaints
Most expensive investigation may have been driven by Palin herself

    Juneau Empire
Alaska has spent nearly $300,000 investigating ethics complaints against Gov. Sarah Palin, who calls the complaints “harassment” against her and expensive for the state to defend.
Palin has accused bloggers and political opponents of bringing “frivolous” ethics charges against her.
“How much will this blogger’s asinine political grandstanding cost all of us in time and money?” Palin asked after the state Personnel Board dismissed another complaint last spring.
Palin herself may be responsible for much of those costs, as indicated by a list of investigation costs for 13 separate cases the state Personnel Board released Tuesday in response to public records requests.
The minimalist list identifies cases only by the year and a three-digit case number. State Personnel Director Nicki Neal refused to identify them more specifically, so connections between known investigations and the costs released could not be verified.
However, the timing, scope and other factors of the single largest expense appear to fit the case Palin filed against herself that cost $187,797 to investigate. That’s almost two-thirds of the total $296,042 of all Personnel Board investigations in the last two years.

He’s also using Trig in the same way Palin does by using a donation to the Special Olympics to help drive the price higher. I figure the guy must know who Bob Poe is.

His reply was that it was too late now but if the truck doesn’t sell, he’ll consider revising the auction.

I feel very sorry for the people who live in these rural areas and are being treated like pawns in Sarah Palin’s quest for being seen as the perfect governor. She makes me sick to my stomach!

She does not have the capability to truly care or empathasize with anyone who suffers. This is a big part of narcissistic personality disorder. There is no doubt that Palin suffers from this and her husband seems to enable her. Can you believe he was calling Republicans before the end of the presidental election and saying don’t forget Sarah in 2012? That is simply unbelievable.

The more I hear about Sarah, the more I know she is very mentally disturbed. So are her supporters. Just spend two minutes at for P and you will see how crazy the owner of the sit and the people who write there. Narcississts often are atrracted to each other and it makes sense in that situation.

I don’t know if anyone noticed a comment made on another blog where it was revealed that Sarah did not inform Bristol that she intended to fake the pregnancy and pretend Trig was hers. And Bristol was vey upset when she found this out.
Talk about a lack of empathy or caring. Talk about being a user.

She is using the native population the same way. It is despicable. Thank God for Dennis and for Nick – keep telling the truth. The people there deserve so much more respect then this.

    __________

No doubt that he charges her for doing PR work on her behalf as well, but still, to have double the cost to defend her than what was actually spent on the investigation seems more than a little shady.

If they are claiming that the legal bills are at $600,000.00 now, and let’s say that Van Flein charges $500.00 hourly, that is still 1200 hours of work. That is 30 weeks of 40 hours a week.

For all of you who think Sarah will come up with an excuse, like postpartum depression – there’s no way she will ever do this. Remember – she’s a narcissist – she can not, will not ever admit to any shortcomings in herself. It will ALWAYS be someone else’s fault – it’s how she’s hot wired. She will never allow herself to say anything that would be considered a chink in her armor.

She learned from the Rove / Bush / Cheney school – RULE # 1

Affix blame as quickly as possible on someone else. Then make up stories about “them” to add to the mix. Deliberately ignore any truth, and twist everything to make it sound like the world is wrong, and you are right.

Again, remember – the battle is much easier for them because they are NOT constrained by ethical behaviour, or the truth. Just like her freakiest supporters, who couldn’t care less about the inconvenient truths. They will always direct their anger and fear outward, never inward. No introspection, no objectivity, no research, no questioning – this is who they are, including the Queen of Hearts. “Off with their heads!” she shrieks. Ewww, her shrieking makes birds drop dead while flying and wilts flowers on contact.

What is it with the color red and Sarah? What does the color red say about a person? This cracked me up from a psychic/medium’s web site – there’s definitely some comparisions to be made here:

“A person who likes red runs the gamut of personality traits.
This is the color for passion, energy, and money making. It can also have a darker side to it.
If the person has a preference toward the more brick (reddish brown) red colors, they have problems with addictions such as drugs, alcohol, eating disorders or emotional instability. Red oranges are not only dynamos but love the outdoors and anything to do with people. Red with blue overtones can be energetic people with high emotions.
Red personalities when in their true red mode are sexy and seductive. We now have statistical proof that men will look at a women wearing red, even though she may not be the most beautiful woman there, more quickly than they will anyone else in a room.
It is the color for someone who wants to be powerful and in control. Business people who want to win wear the power color red to meetings in which they want to stand out. The red personality makes one feel more energetic or activated.
Stop signs are red. Red gets your attention. This energetic personality craves attention and what’s more: They get it.
Being quick with their emotions, they may erupt into a temperamental volcano right in front of you then simmer down just as quickly.
Quick to give others answers to any question, they feel they know everything. If they don’t and it is proven they don’t, you will find them trying to learn why. They are not frightened of not knowing the answer but only of appearing stupid.
Because they are quick moving people, they want everything done in a hurry. When tired, they have to lay down right then because it feels as if all energy has escaped them. Once they have taken a quick nap they are up and ready for almost anything life has to show them. Red personalities feel invincible and others tend to think they are.
Even though red’s have all these personality traits, they do not make good leaders. They do, however, make good followers, once they decide they are being lead wisely. They have no compunctions in doing whatever it takes to get the job done in the manner needed.
Red personalities, though, do have a tendency to go off on tangents. Their attention span is not all that it should be. When focused, they are very strong in their determination.
Reds are quick minded, brilliant people who may not be well educated but are quick with answers because they have lived the circumstances

    Palin’s ‘demons’

But the sniping between Steve Smith, Bill Kristol and Randy Scheunemann started in response to the Vanity Fair piece on Palin, which is “the story of a political novice with an intuitive feel for the temper of her times, a woman who saw her opportunities and coolly seized them,” writes Todd Purdum.

Of course, it says much more than that, much of it negative, painting a portrait of Palin as an ignorant, megalomaniacal, vindictive woman, which is what prompted the back-and-forth between Schmidt and Kristol.

But I asked one of the senior McCain campaign officials who worked closest with Palin what he thought of the article, by e-mail last night and then this morning over the phone. He e-mailed back immediately, calling the article “absolutely fascinating” and “completely riveting.”
“While the Palin camp is surely marshaling the torches and pitchforks and baying for blood by now, my hope is that somehow — against the odds — Palin is able to draw some sort of lesson out of all of this that helps her find a way to exist peacefully in the public space. It can’t be easy to spend every day under this kind of withering fire and I know that it is brutal on her family, who are generally good people that never asked for this,” the political operative wrote.

“You’d think that at some point, even Palin’s formidable armor of self-deception would so loudly clang against reality that she’d be forced to change. I doubt that though. Introspection doesn’t seem to be her strong-suit. But people can change. I hope she can too . . . for her sake and for our party’s.”

When I spoke by phone this morning with the same official, he said the VF article was not “contrived” and that it did, in fact, give an accurate portrayal of Palin.

Sullivan doesn’t specify that… and at the end of this one there is no pleas to ‘support/GIVE money’ to Sarah. They just end it with that image and no text.

This is like the Sanford apology. He keeps talking and making the hole deeper . SarahPac puts this out as an ‘ apology ‘ for the last one and it is hardly any better. They learned NOTHING from the first mistake. They keep digging…..

The evidence is staggering that Palin does not adhere to any book of rules or laws, God’s or man’s. And the Palin saga is no different in many ways as Sanford. It is sad that no one has taken Palin by the hand and escorted her out of the building while telling her she’s fired, go home. The locks have been changed.

I heard the Attorney General from South Carolina say they were going to investigate Sanford’s travels “by the book.” The AG was planning to run for governorship next term, couldn’t mess it up. Sanford reminds me of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde; so does Palin.

Then one of THEM tells the media? Let’s say they did it so it could be acknowledged and then immediately dismissed so that a “major drama” and speculation aren’t made about why her hand is all bandaged, etc.

While millions might have heard it on TV at the moment she got off the plane, SHE didn’t hear the commentary. She didn’t know what anyone was saying as she walked down the stairs.

choke … choke … a little throw up in my mouth…

She said she asked a Secret Service agent to give the president her letter, but he refused and referred her to a White House staffer. Lee said she refused to give the staffer the letter.

“I said, ‘I’ll take my chances if (the president) comes by here,”‘ said Lee, who identified herself as a Roman Catholic priestess who lives in Anaheim, Calif. “He became annoyed that I wouldn’t give him the letter.”

Lee, who was wearing what she described as a cassock, said she protested when she was asked to leave.

“I said, ‘Why are you bothering me?’ They escorted me outside the gate,” she said.

She said security officers allowed her to return when she promised she would not yell or wave, but then other officers arrived and told her to leave.

“I said, ‘I’m not leaving,”‘ she said. “They tried to drag me out.”

Two officers then picked her up and carried her out. An Associated Press photographer photographed the incident. “I was afraid you could see under my clothes,” she said, her voice choking up.

Lee, who said this was the second presidential event she has covered, was later released.

The incident occurred about 10 minutes before Obama arrived at the airport by helicopter to board Air Force One. “

David Sedaris (born December 26, 1956) is a Grammy Award-nominated American humorist, writer, comedian, bestselling author, and radio contributor.

Sedaris was first publicly recognized in 1992 when National Public Radio broadcast his essay “SantaLand Diaries”. Each of his five subsequent essay collections, Naked (1997), Holidays on Ice (1997), Me Talk Pretty One Day (2000), Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim (2004), and When You Are Engulfed in Flames (2008), have become New York Times Best Sellers.[2][3][4][5][6]

re martha @ 80 – so she cost the state 187K of the 299K expense of investigating ethics complaints, and the 2nd costliest involves an employee (not her)… isn’t that interesting!

Perhaps the begathon monies ought to be turned over to the taxpayers of Alaska to help pay the costs of the ethics complaint she filed against herself and which she herself described as without merit… absolutely amazing that her actions cause all the cost but she blames the filers of the ethics complaints… then again… maybe not so amazing as she appears to have a history of this type of behavior.

“Sources: McCain Campaign Manager Wanted Sarah Palin Muzzled”

    http://theplumline.whorunsgov.com/political-media/sources-mccain-campaign-manager-wanted-sarah-palin-muzzled/

“There were people on the campaign who wanted Palin to hold more conference calls with people we knew were her friends,” one senior McCain communications aide tells me. “We felt she was a very strong asset with the ideological media — everything from conservative journals of opinion to talk radio. It was dismissed out of hand by top brass, especially Schmidt.”

A second campaign staffer tells me that Schmidt was a leading figure in the camp that “thought Palin was beyond helping.” Result: Palin spoke out much less than internal supporters wanted.

Was Troopergate an actual ETHICS COMPLAINT filed by a CITIZEN that just blew out of control?

    OR…

Was it a situation that the Legislature was forced into examining at some point and when things were going south for Palin, she filed the complaint against herself so her (cough) “Personnel Board” (cough) could “overrule” the Branchflower findings and make it all good for her?

I don’t know where these wing-nuts have been hiding the past 8 years but here is a quote from one of Glenn Beck’s Guests….

Michael Scheuer, on Glenn Beck’s show last night:

Scheuer: The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States. Because it’s going to take a grass-roots, bottom-up pressure. Because these politicians prize their office, prize the praise of the media and the Europeans. It’s an absurd situation again. Only Osama can execute an attack which will force Americans to demand that their government protect them effectively, consistently, and with as much violence as necessary.

Beck: Which is why, I was thinking this weekend, if I were him, that would be the last thing I would do right now.

let’s not forget what Bitney said……….

“And her national ambitions? “What it looks like to me she’s trying to do is try the same formula that got her the governorship,” John Bitney says. “You sort of start off with a conservative base. The right-wing base is obviously out on the far end of the spectrum, but it’s a very motivated base. They show up, they’re committed. It gets you that political beachhead. She did not get started with the blessing of the Republican Party. She started with a dedicated corps of sort of right-wing true believers who killed themselves for her, and got her going. And then she began to build on that, and after she crossed the primary hurdle, she moderated her message on some points.”

It’s very curious that Palin’s fundraising efforts for herself….promoted shamelessly by the ADN on its front page…..ended yesterday, June 30th. Now, today on July 1st, the news comes out that the state has really only spent less than $300,000 on investigating Palin’s ethics complaints and the majority was the Troopergate complaint which she filed against herself.

    1) Palin claimed the ethics investigation had cost the state “millions” to investigate. Why the lie?

    2) Did ADN hold off publishing of the true costs of the investigation until Palin’s fundraiser was completed?

    3) Did the Personnel Board hold off releasing the true costs until Palin’s fundraising was completed?

    4) How do those people who donated, pressured by the deadline for the fundraising, now feel about the news in the ADN and the Juneau Empire today?

You are absolutely correct about that, Seagull. Think it’s time for Perry to return that salary to the taxpayer? Or should the McCain campaign (whatever remains of it) should reimburse Alaskans?

  316. 319

So the cost of those frivolous complaints is half what SP, her mouthpieces, and her attorney claimed. And roughly 2/3′s of the cost is because of the complaint she filed. Does this mean that Thomas Van Flein charged her $300,000 to defend her? She must have needed a whole lot of defending. I have never worked in the field of law, but that seems rather high to me. Wonder what else he was doing for her?

Think we could get Eddie to ask him why the bill is so high. Mr. Van Flein should change his name to Thomas Van Fleece.
