By the way, has anyone figured out the point of her resignation speech? I certainly couldn’t figure it out.
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:20 PM
Thanks, Ripley! I wanna join in on the fun! I’ll give it my best go…

Re: the Palin is not a quitter meme, I would say AKM has long ago showed us otherwise.
Palin quit a lot of colleges, didn’t she? Palin quit her AK Oil and Gas commission gig, didn’t she? She quit a few speaking gigs this year (and then turned up anyway?), didn’t she? And now she has quit being a Governor.
A Romney, Huckabee (et al), opposition research person could make a much longer list than this, I’ll wager.

You guys are doing a fantastic job keeping the site up and running. My hats off to all of you.Congradulation AKM and all Alaskan bloggers. Because of you, American and the rest of us Mudpups can really celebrate your independence.I have to disagree with a few people. I think Sarah Palin is on a collision course with something much larger than an iceberg. Whatever it is, it has to be massive for her to step down. Palin reminds me of someone who doesn’t go down without a fight. I already have the popcorn ready and waiting.

While out shopping today, I found a sign in the plaza a short distance from me for a new store opening soon:
GINO’S PIZZERIA
NOOOOOOOOO!!!! I don’t want her!!

In response to beth meacham @ 45
“Her daughter’s son’s father’s mother was convicted of trafficking in meth. One wonders if the Governor’s family might have been involved in that?”
Sherry Johnston made the oxy deals on Bristol’s cell phone. Not many are aware of hat.
Is this verifiable, that BRISTOL’s cell (at the very least) was present at the time that Johnston was making criminal deals?????

Palin and Sanford played footsie at governors’ conventions?
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:32 PM
Sorry, I left my glasses upstairs so there are a lot of typo’s. Not lack of knowledge, but lack of seeing.
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:33 PM
lol, fawnskin! yet another kumbaya hand-holding moment!
BTW, I got home from my usual volunteering at the local food pantry to read AKM’s post, tried to see comments and got “database error”. Guess that’s what happens when ya get famous!
In any event, I’ve had a strange and somewhat interesting day, details of which I’ll save for the open thread, but the real shocker was a telephone message from my mom in NC saying that she got a letter from Social Security offering condolences and the usual $250 death benefit check…apparently my father died in Florida on June 19 and his ladyfriend couldn’t be bothered to inform the rest of us. My father’s phone has been disconnected and no one has a clue where ladyfriend and assets are.
I feel like I’m in a personal Palin moment…

My grandmother had three sons in WWII, and we honor the military, as two of them were in very serious battles and wounded, and one received the bronze star from General MacArthur personally. No one ever spoke of it, as was done then, until my mother and I found pictures.
Happy Fourth to all!!!
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:37 PM
CNN has now given up on it, too.
I would have thunk this would be news for more than 5 hours.
Going now to catch up on the weeks’ worth of DVR shows I taped… Daily Show, Colbert, etc.
Per CNN: Most underreported stories of the week:
LA/CA is broke (big shocking news, not).
FBI Interviews with Saddam Hussein after capture.
Coup in Honduras.
Per Samper: Most overreported story of the week:
MJ’s death and funeral plans.
I’ll be back later, all.
Again, CONGRATULATIONS, ALASKA!!!
Oh, also, too: AKM – can we listen to the radio show online? I couldn’t load the pod cast last week. You should go chat with Shannyn, given the news.
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:43 PM
justafarmer: That is HORRIBLE! My condolences to your family. How awful that you can’t have a proper funeral and such!
I would get ON that “ladyfriend” and find out where the HE!! she gets off not telling his CHILDREN that he passed!!!!!!
I’m SOOO Sorry!
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:44 PM
OMG! OMG!
http://www.bradblog.com/?p=7280
all this time we sent stuff into crew and thought nothing happening!
“UPDATED: Alaskan reporter Shannyn Moore offers The BRAD BLOG hints about reasons for Alaska Gov’s resignation
FURTHER UPDATE: Sources say embezzlement scandal, federal indictments may soon break concerning use of Wasilla Sport Complex building materials for Palin’s home…”
Housegate!!!!!!!
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:44 PM
hey, justafarmer…
we had that very same experience with my dad and stepmother.
really. he died, she neglected to tell us, etc etc.
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:44 PM
justafarmer: There MUST be a will! FIND IT!!!!! It has to be filed in a court, I believe. If assets were left, I would imagine a court would ensure they are distributed accordingly.
The more I think about this, the more I want to hunt down “ladyfriend” my own damn self.
How DARE she!
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:49 PM
I KNEW it would be housegate! Ever since that came to my attention, I have been reminding people that it takes much less than that to get a governor in Jail… CT had one, John Rowland… he had a little work done on a cottage and he did time for it!!!! Steering projects and such!!!
Go Shannyn!!! Drive that stake all the way through!!!
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:52 PM
Guess God fixed that door Palin just marched right through since it was cracked. Looks like he put a Do Not Enter sign on it, too.
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:56 PM

just a farmer“` it is not that easy for people to disappear. get in touch with the clerk of probate court in florida. also contact local banks to let them know he is deceased. that is if you really think it would be worthwhile in time and energy to recover assets. also you don’t want to end up paying outstanding medical bills if any. i am so sorry this happened to you. you have such a happy, sweet way about you…love bubbles

Thanks Alaska, and CONGRATULATIONS!
July 3rd, 2009 at 5:05 PM
justafarmer: (sorry if OT – move to an open thread please if necessary)
My mom passed away in 1/08, in Florida also. What you were told already is a good starting point.
Here’s some more info:
1) find the local newspaper’s online website and search the obits. They are usually open for 30 days free of charge….should have some info for you.
2) contact the county office that issues the death certificates. Should be the Health Dept/office of vital statistics.
3) contact funeral homes within a 10 mile radius to see if they handled the services.
Sorry to hear of your loss.
July 3rd, 2009 at 5:06 PM
PS y’all – new thread up – Palin Resigns….
July 3rd, 2009 at 5:16 PM
samper, fawnskin & bubbles…we don’t even know where his body is!
He lived in Barefoot Beach, FL. Sebastian is the nearest big town. Sadly, it’s a holiday weekend, but I found phone numbers for Brevard and Indian Creek Counties. Anyone in Florida, which county office handles death certificates? I’ll check with both counties on Monday.
Sorry for the OT, AKM!
July 3rd, 2009 at 5:19 PM
Thanks PepperzMom, we searched ALL the Florida newspaper obits…nothing…but oddly enough, I found an obit in Palm Beach for a man with my father’s name, but he died 10 days earlier and was three years older. We’re compiling a list of funeral homes tonight.
July 3rd, 2009 at 5:20 PM
Sorry for the OT interuption, but this may be important:
JUSTAFARMER: “my mom in NC saying that she got a letter from Social Security offering condolences and the usual $250 death benefit check…apparently my father died in Florida on June 19 and his ladyfriend couldn’t be bothered to inform the rest of us. My father’s phone has been disconnected and no one has a clue where ladyfriend and assets are.:
Don’t know how it works elsewhere, but I had to go in person to ask for my husband’s death benefit, even though he was on SSDI and they were notified of his death via the funeral home in early May, I never heard from them! I went the other day and had to produce death and marriage certificates and ID. After those were entered, they set up an telephone appointment for me in two weeks to finalize the survivor benefit.
Also, too…. the benefit amount went up $5 to $255 last year… so someone may be messing with your mom…. be careful of the info she gives out, don’t give out checking acct number for direct deposit, request check in mail.
Sorry about your dad, hope you find out what’s really going on soon!

Bwahahahaha! I bet dear little Trig’s first words were “Hell yeah!” She did say it was the 5 kids and the hell yeah was another whole story.
Seriously though, it is sad for her family, she is still spinning lies and using those poor kids. Sick Psycho Sarah, I don’t think she can help herself.
Alaskans, don’t back down on holding her feet to the fire as in Celtic Diva, any other legit complaints and especially our country’s beloved and respected Native Alaskan community. The truth still needs to come out and wrongs need to righted.
I will never be able to forgive her for trying to make light of the salmon crisis with her ‘holding a fish’ and ‘dead fish’ remarks in her babble speech. Most of the country didn’t get it but I believe it was a deliberate stab meant to offend and hurt.
AKM – Thank – you, you are an amazing human being. Yes we can and yes we will. God Bless America.

Sarah Palin will go down as one of the greatest frauds in US political history.
Keep the pressure on her. She still could make millions and millions of dollars for defrauding the public’s trust. She must not get away with this. Never.

Hi and congrats!!
Full-time lurker, but had to stop and say if you want to roll on the floor and bust a gut, watch the Anderson Cooper on CNN phone interview with Meg Stapleton. It is a howl!!

House Gate is the best guess since Todd’s buddies “helped’ build the house. I’m in the construction business and high profile clients(especially politicians) except deals, free supplies, materials, upgrades…etc. The Palinn’s behavior pattern would be to take all of the above as their due! The emails that will be coming out will fire her ass and show the world all those christain values she holds so dear….In my mind, it was never a question of her demise…just a matter of when. Imagine a Levi book coming out as well.
Karma will always go around and Sarah time has come where she will reap what she has sown!

Discarding the demands of an Alaska job that is at best part-time, undemanding, predictable, banal, means that she will now devote full-time to traveling the “lower 48” in order to speak, speak, speak. Wherever she goes, she is Alaska, moose-hunting, and Wasilla.
So says John Batchelor, over on The Daily Beast. So much for the citizens of Alaska with those banal and undemanding desires for food, fuel, education, work outside the oil fields and the opportunity to reach subsistence levels for the coming winter. I hope that Sean is up to the challenge he’s taking on.

Hey Piper….Yes Momma….What do you think I should do next? Once again the “off limits” kids are brought back into the fray, all except the one she threw under the military bus.
