It was great fun being back on the Shannyn Moore Show on the 4th of July. Mudflatters from across the globe tuned in. I do love hearing your actual voices! After Shannyn’s show was over, Mike Method took over with special guest CC, a progressive voice that is sorely missed on the airwaves these days. It was great to see her sitting behind a microphone, and I snapped a couple shots before I left.

Palin-bot meme re Sarah’s resignation speech, “Great Speech, and no teleprompter either.”
False.

Hi CC & Mike & Brian! ::wave:: Thanks for your thoughtful commentary.
CC and Brian make a gorgeous couple.
AKM, I read and commented on your latest article at HuffPo. I think you have it exactly right. Steve Schmidt had to intervene twice to stop Palin from overreacting to negative things being said about her. But Palin’s attorney has no reason to stop her, in fact gets paid to do what she wants.
It’s disturbing to see this is Palin’s pathology in action. This is why she could not let the Troopergate matter go. This is why she could not let the Dave Letterman joke incident go. This is why she can’t let photoshop pictures or internet rumors go. She has a specific emotional/mental problem that consumes her whenever someone crosses her. It’s ugly.
Great article on HuffPo AKM. You nailed it exactly right.
S.C. governor had some sense
Across America people are up in arms about South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford having sex with some woman from Argentina. That’s not so bad. At least he has enough common sense to know that if he is going to have sex with someone, it will be a woman. You have to give him credit for that.

The above is a letter to the editor of the ADN, published today (Sunday). Perhaps someone might like to respond to the editor who saw fit to publish this.

My favorite quote from Wonkette re: the threatened lawsuit against Shannyn and all others talking about the “rumor”.
Ooh ooh, I think she should also sue that ‘vague feeling of unease when someone greets you by name and you recognize their face, but can’t remember their name.’ That one’s a real b*stard, it is.
Hmmm…left to go camping this weekend in the Adirondack mountains in NYS with no internet, phone service, newspapers, etc. So, I have spent the morning reading any and all news reports to catch up and finally just listenened to Palin’s speech for myself.
Her breathlessness, rate of speech, skeletal figure, jumping around really point to some type of addiction. I’m wondering if she isn’t headed to a rehab in the very near future. By resigning first she can blame it on a nervous breakdown caused by the media instead of a drug addiction. I’m wondering if the 5 votes for yes and hell yes had as much to do with “Mom, get some help!” as it was to step down from being Governor.
Our family agrees, Palins stepping down will result in another tax payer paid wardrobe. We cannot decide if it will be a straight jacket or an orange jumpsuit. Though we feel confident it will be one of the two.
Is there somewhere we can read the transcript of SM show? I can never get those speaker thingies to work
Letterman-ed. Like that new word. I think we’ll be hearing more of that (besides in Palins major lawsuit, wink).
I tell you what Brian sure does know how to get around. Brian is meeting some I would like to meet. I understand why you want us to comment on HuffPo but it is aggravating because the comments are not being posted immediately and it appears they are not in a hurry to do so. IMHO
Sorry. Over there I have to rely on the HuffPo staff to moderate when I’m not around. It’s definitely more labor intensive than it is over here, but I really wanted this story to get sent to the top over there. I think it’s got a good start. I have a different version I’ll post here in a few minutes. Thanks for commenting despite the delay. AKM
I was willing to write off her typical word salad as trying to speak directly from her serpent’s heart. THAT was pre-written? Goodness, her ghost-writer will be a workin’ overtime!
How long did it take, Todd and his (buddies), to build the House of Palin, 3 mos, 6mos, 1 yr? I,m assuming they had full time jobs also, or were they working for FREE as some kind of PAYBACK??? How about the electricians, plumbers, etc, (buddies too)? How about the inspections for the wiring, plumbing, etc?? Inquiring minds want to know
!!!
SHE wants to continue working to ‘fix’ much needed fiscal restraint? That’s very comical coming from her. She really is such a legend in her own mind.
AKM, just read your piece on HP. AMAZING.
AKM, I don’t think anyone in this day and age can put to words a situation quite like you do. You are by far one of the best writers I have had the pleasure of reading. Your grasp and wit about things amazes not only me but thousands of people. Your are truely a gifted individual.
Sarah sure likes to use kids as a way to get people on her side. I recall Troopergate involved a kid who was supposedly tasered. The Letterman joke incident was immediately interpreted by the Palins as ‘child rape’. The formula Palin uses is to first pretend to be outraged, then exaggerate a story of a kid being hurt in order to mobilize her followers.
Wowie, Greta is allowing Palin comments to stand that are not worshiping her.

Read the Palin lover contributions…they prove the poll that Palin attracts in majority those with less then a high school education and Deep South mentality true.
wonkette is beatin’ sarah’s ass good………
I hope I get sued. An attorney friend who lurks on the ‘flats said he would defend me pro-bono and LOVE to depose sarah. He told me “I will make her cry”.

NICE JOB Dave!!!
This spring, as Palin was weighing whether to run for reelection in 2010, she turned to John P. Coale, a prominent Washington lawyer. He had helped her establish a political action committee and has become her political consigliere of sorts.
“She asked me, ‘Well, what do you think all this is? Why are all these people attacking me?’ ” Coale said. “I said to her: ‘Look, that’s what happens. They did it to Hillary [Rodham Clinton], and Hillary just pushed through it. It’s not going to really stop. . . . You just have to ignore it and move on.’ ”
Even talk show host David Letterman weighed in, joking that one of her daughters had gotten “knocked up” by baseball star Alex Rodriguez in New York.
That joke, which Palin criticized, helped persuade her to step down, Coale said.

Great article on HuffPo AKM! Sunday morning fun with the talking heads trying to make sense of Ex-GINO’s facebook entry. I always imagine when I see a man with one of those major comb-overs (like Trump maybe) that no one loves him enough to tell him the truth about how awful it looks. I think this applies to Ex-GINO too. People are either too scared of retaliation or they don’t care enough to be honest with her. She is a total PR disaster. I thought you were supposed to stop digging when you were in a hole. It must be narcissicism, there’s no other rational explanation for her behavior.
Nebraska Native “People are either too scared of retaliation or they don’t care enough to be honest with her.”
It is the latter. No one cares.
After seeing the vitriol that Palin stirred up in just the last two months of the ’08 campaign – a wingnut fervor which still has not subsided – I am very uneasy with the vision of what she could do between now and Nov 2012. Not only does she share the twisted worldview of the secessionist wingnuts, she shares the twisted
political-religious views of radical Dominionist theocrats – and they hold her in esteem, and see her as a key player in achieving their goal of taking over government.
Sounds like time to buy a water-cooled keyboard and a bigger monitor, folks. I believe we’re in for a BUM-PY ride!!
Closet Mudpup
You may be all too right.
SP says she plans on continuing to work for… what? Whatever it is, she claims to feel she can be more effective *out* of the Governor’ s office.
Of course she can. No one brings ethics complaints against a civilian; she’ll be home free (sorta).
A little scary
Closet Mudpup “I am very uneasy with the vision of what she could do between now and Nov 2012.”
Palin has no bite she is all bark now. Without an elected position to spew her nonsense she will fade and fade fast. There will be attraction to her getting indicted but the headlines will be short & quick after the first 48 hours.
Palin will never get elected to anything ever again. Palin has done shown she is unable, unstable and unethical to be supported by those with the resources to buy a candidate. She is done put a fork in her.
For us, the interest stays just now because her lunacy has become a daily routine and there is a promise she will get what is coming to her & no one wants to miss being in the front row.
I think for about everyone else the climax on Friday was the beginning of the end of her public affair. Love the way she is being kicked out of the nations bedroom like a cheap whre.
@ Closet Mudpup: Regarding Palin stirring up hateful wingnuts, Sarah may go on the H8R talk circuit after leaving office but she will do it solo. No one is watching her back. McCain could give a flip and her Alaskan henchmen are no longer on her payroll. She may be in for a rude awakening without anyone around to save her from herself.
I see Palin becoming a perpetual candidate like Ralph Nader or Bob Barr. She will always have just enough fans to give her money and false hope for another chance in national politics.
They are so having fun with this on Daily Kos -

I am lucky enough to have the day off and I CAN’T WAIT to hear what all they are going to say – starting with Stephanie Miller on Air America @ 6:00. They are all going to have a field day with this! I bet they are choppin’ at the bit to get on the air, this is as much fun as Dick Cheney shooting someone in the face.
Hiya Nan!
Problem with Palin’s “Plan” is she has to be hired by invited and hosted by someone. Maybe she will get a couple jobs at speaking engagements here and there but they will not be for 10 grand nor will they include family traveling expenses. Fox is allowing comments to ream her stay they aren’t buttering her up. GOP has said don’t call us we’ll call you.
Lol, the entire Palin family are CONTROL FREAKS….BLOG BABY BLOG!!!
“I can take anything but the blogs,” her father says uneasily.”
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/10/01/AR2008100103437.html
In picking on a lone blogger, as opposed to a MSS or corporate news or blog source, I am sure Sarah The Scarer thinks she can really cause pain and really intimidate all bloggers.
Apparently, she didn’t notice when conservative bloggers stood up for a certain Alaskan Progressive blogger who was attacked and outed by an bitchy Politician. And how that incident went national in the blogsphere, and, also too increased the audience which that “punished” blogger spoke to.
If she goes after Shannyn in court, and that threat has already gone national, she will have the whole bloggsphere, national and international picking holes in her and retelling all her disasters, and her lies and her “Gates.”
Maybe she thinks it will be just an Alaska thing, or that she can get a favorable judge or jury in Alaska. But I doubt either is really true.
In addition, if it gets to court she will have to prove not only damage, but will have to prove the rumor is a lie.
In other words she’ll have to prove they paid for all the construction and construction materials.
And she will probably have to explain the building ordinance she supported, that allowed her, initially, to hide the building plan.
Great piece, AKM, on HuffPo.
Congratulations, Shannyn Moore! You can now:
1) Have your own best-selling book deal!
2) Have your own TV talk show
3) Have your own nationally syndicated radio show
4) Run for Governor of AK
And Palin gave you all that PR–for free! (I think Palin is a liberal. There is no other explanation. Actions speak louder than words! And everything she does shines light on her own misdeeds.) GO SHANNYN!
I didn’t know Meg Staplewhatever BP (before Palin). Was she always this weird? I rewatched the Anderson Cooper/Meg interview. Meg sounds just like Sarah. Same scattered word mash. Verbs looking for subjects. Watching Cooper’s reactions to Meg brings a smile to those who know the same feeling.

Isabella, this was a comment on Gretawire, did Greta say Palin had flipped out, if so whoa!
What’s really sad Greta, is we had to post on Gretawire that this letter was on the internet and not being reported, which is still the case. Of course, you show it here AFTER you state had she completely flipped out????
Professor Geezer “And Palin gave you all that PR–for free!”
YUP YUP!!! Palin gave a face, a pretty one at that, to the anonymous blogger she complains about. Not very damn bright.
UK Lady “Isabella, this was a comment on Gretawire, did Greta say Palin had flipped out, if so whoa!”
I don’t watch that bat sht crazy woman talk out the side of her mouth….if she did though, talk smack about Palin…THE END IS NEAR for all things Palin and Fox.
If anyone has a link to Greta though saying flipped out please link.
This golden oldie just doesn’t get old! I wonder if Sarah kept a copy for reference? She may want to take a bit of her own advice.

I guess the next couple of weeks will be filled with winkin’, blinkin’ and shreadin’ for Palin and her cohorts. LOL
UK Lady look at this!!!
Sarah Palin’s Media Stalker Greta Van Susteren is Stunned that Palin Quit
Greta Van Susteren, FOX News’ serial stalker of Sarah Palin, was in shock over the announcement that Palin quit her job. When asked about what this means, she said…
Greta:…It’s hard to tell if she’s giving up or gearing up and that I don’t know…
Greta whined about all the ethics complaints that were filed against Sarah Palin and said that she could get disheartened. Really? She QUIT her job and quit on the people of Alaska. She’s proved that she’s unfit for duty. And it’s not only me saying it.
Some Republican strategists expressed skepticism about Palin’s decision. “I’m not smart enough to see the strategy in this,” said John Weaver, a senior party strategist. “Good point guards don’t quit and walk off the court.”

I read an article from LA Times about Housegate, or the lack of Housegate. Guess someone talked with an FBI agent, and he said there was no investigation going on. Could be true, but they usually answer, “I can neither confirm nor deny….”
NYT Op-Ed yesterday: Maureen Dowd
Caribou Barbie is one nutty puppy.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/05/opinion/05dowd.html?_r=1
@zyggy, the rumor I read re: Housegate always mentioned the I.R.S., FWIW.
Well……..
Noun 1. quitter – a person who gives up too easily
individual, mortal, person, somebody, someone, soul – a human being; “there was too much for one person to do”
abdicator – one who formally relinquishes an office or responsibility
dropout – someone who quits school before graduation
apostate, deserter, ratter, turncoat, recreant, renegade – a disloyal person who betrays or deserts his cause or religion or political party or friend etc.

MSNBC is STILL reporting about the investigation regarding her house. That info from the would be FBI guy last night does not sit well with me at all. Something really strange about it….never heard of such a thing before.
No folks…(sue me if you want Sarah…ask my name and address and I will give it) I believe the hammer will drop sooner than later. Sarah is shaking in her naughty monkey pumps for tomorrows news reports..especially KO and Rachel
I actually think Palin might be doing us all a favor if she decided to become a spokeswoman for the fringe of the Dominionists. The story of their extreme radicals, those involved in geographic spiritual warfare and with links to AIP, has been ignored by mainstream media. This looks like a dangerous group to me and I’ve feared they will get no attention until there is a major incident involving loss of life because media doesn’t want to appear anti-evangelical. Sarah, because of her celebrity and inability to just-shut-up could change all that.
zyggy “I read an article from LA Times about Housegate, or the lack of Housegate. Guess someone talked with an FBI agent, and he said there was no investigation going on. Could be true, but they usually answer, “I can neither confirm nor deny….”
The FBI contact who said there is no investigation, Eric, is not even an agent or special investigator.
Eric Gonzalez, who is quoted is an Applicant Coordinator.
When Ted, was investigated, was it by local FBI camp?
Talking head lady guest on MSNBC talked about housegate possibilities and that Sarah as a GOP speaker might be a bit radioactive for candidates. Guess she didn’t get VanFly’s memo.
Ouch.
“If this is her launching pad for 2012, it’s a curious move,” said John Weaver, a former senior strategist for McCain’s presidential bids. “Policy is politics, and she has no real accomplishments as governor.”
Isabella, thanks for crooks and liars link.
Heh Heh, I’m so loving all of this, the smell of Karma. Schadenfreude overload here in the UK.
UK Lady “Heh Heh, I’m so loving all of this, the smell of Karma. Schadenfreude overload here in the UK.”
Me also too this is GREAT and knowing it is eating Palin inside out is a BONUS!!!
You all have fun and be good
Off to the beach it is freakin hot around here.
Love to all!!!!
i noticed she was wearing those same red shoes during her meltdown- i mean resignation speech. I missed the radio show last night but i read the comments this morning and you all did a great job.
justafarmer representing ky. it was awesome
lol I suspected something like that, Eric may be the janitor. Like I said, they don’t, no , they won’t answer just because you call them. Guess I should preface all this with “rumor”, don’t wanna get sued.
Maybe I’ll change my name to rumor zyggy for a bit, in fact we all should. =)
Wonder if Van Flea has sent Rex Butler a letter concerning this matter……………
http://www.nypost.com/seven/07042009/gossip/pagesix/levi_vs__sarah_palin_battle_continues_177489.htm
Polling from Greta Van Susterens ‘s website (reasons Palin quit):
She believes attacks on her are a distraction and is not fair to Alaskans 33%
She is a quitter 5%
She is sick of the attacks on her and her family 10%
She is preparing to run for President 13%
She does not like being Governor <1%
It makes women politicians look weak 1%
She can accomplish more if she is not limited by being a Governor 26%
Scandal brewing that we don’t know about? 7%
If there is an active investigation of Housegate, it’s probably IRS. And the local FBI guys may not have been informed of an investigation on the Palins because it’s already known how Sarah intimidates the locals.
On CNN State of the Union:
Donna Brazille said she has to better manage her 2nd 15 minutes of fame!! Zing!!!
Ed Rollins found her insulting to other Rep Governors in that many have term limits and still have balance of term knowing their term is up.
Wonder if Ed will be campaigning with Huckabee again??
Off Topic, but there IS other news:
2 Monorail trains collide at Disny FL. 1 dead (train operator, I think they said)
Pedestrian Bridge fails, many injured. Didn’t see where, but saw ambulances, just caught the end of the story. NEED INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS TO GET MOVING!
Hot off the Press: Michael Jackson is STILL dead!!! 1.5 Million seek 11,000 tickets to attend Memorial.
On Palin suing: Yeah, right. Bring it on, Buttercup!
I still want to believe the iceberg is JAIL BAD.
Typo Alert: DisnEy.
@Canadian, the GOP does not like Palin–not at the state level and not at the national level.
(soon to be ex, currently lame duck) Gov. Palin must have gotten something for resigning. Her personality requires her to “win” every situation. So if housegate (and any-gate) is inevitable, it’s not the cause of the resignation. Palin usually crows about a “win” sooner or later. So I’m looking to her press releases, twits, facebook for clues.
recent twit: …. on the right decision made as I enter last yr in office to not run again….
CERTAINLY no clues in that but a comical attempt to distract with “not run again” … like we haven’t noticed she QUIT, also, too.

68 Hot Dogs in 10 minutes at annual Coney Island contest.
Gross!
It should be law that all shredders are removed from outgoing politician offices. All paper trash should be stored, also, too.
“the GOP does not like Palin–not at the state level and not at the national level.”
They don’t respect her, which is way more important than liking someone.
They know she is a loose cannon, a mad cow in the china shop type of person. Her transparent need for instant media gratification and adoration (any attention = good thing), is well known among the upper levels of the GOP power chain. Add Ensign and Sanford, also possible 2012 contenders, axed out recently and you have major GOP house cleaning going on.
Palin was/is a nice shiny toy to provide needed distraction and revulsion among non-GOP folks. It worked. While we are paying attention to her, wtf else is going on behind the scenes. She was the perfect foil to make sure Mccain lost and the Bush mess getting dumped in a Democrat’s lap.

Just like Sol Rosenberg

Well, part of a song, gotta mow some grass, first.
Sarah Sues (melody: Runaround Sue – Dion hit tune)
Here’s my story, it’s sad but true
About a gov we thought we knew
She took pac money
And ran around

Hey hey
Wo Oh Oh Oh, Hey, Hey
She took pac money and she ran around with every single jurist in town.
People remember: she’s fooling you
Keep away from Sarah Sues.
Hey, Hey …..
Maybe LR can finish it up!
I thought this morning, whilst drinking coffee and perusing the tubes that Twitter might just go ahead an honor Palin by renaming itself “Quitter”. How funny is that?!!
And her mention of a higher calling indicates to me some religious schmaltz that she’s going to pursue. I bet she’s been getting all worked up for the rapture, or whatever. Some religious fanatic up there has her ear, count on it.

I agree samper.
From what I know of Mccain, some inside stuff as well as what is outside knowledge, he is just as unstable and flighty as Palin. Perhaps that is one reason he seemed okay with the upper echelon’s choice of her as his running mate. Picking some one worse than him was more appealing to his monstrous ego.
While McCain may have thought he could win, the elites knew for certain he was toast. He turned into hot buttered toast once Palin came on board as his running mate.
And we all know how crappy buttered toast tastes once the heat is gone.
Case you missed Fox News Sunday, HuffPo’s Jason Linkins did the dirty work for you. His take on the Sarah conversation is great!

She is just WAY to smart for us !!!
Help me out here. Does ANYONE know what Gov Quit meant by “a picture of me and a fish?” I don’t think she was going to/went to the junket fish off. Did she just dream that outrage up?
twain12- Gosh, Sarah will have her work cut out for her, leading us all while she carries the burden of the conservative mantel. Luckily while I was reading the Fox article, I got my fair and balancing from a MSNBC guy who said basically, that her political career is very over- no one can trust a quitter.
@Greytdog, re: Bill Kristol’s YouTube. LOL!!!
Will Chuck Heath become Sarah’s legal conservator now, too, just like Britney’s dad had to do?
Palin does seem to be using the Spears PR paradigm.
The picture of Sarah & a fish? Was one of the Madonna & Trig pictures photo shopped with the head of a fish? There were so many.
Is this Palin’s Tweet Du Jour: “Critics are spinning, so hang in there as they feed false info on the right decision made as I enter last yr in office to not run again….”

~~~~~~~~~~~
She is desperately trying to keep the base, from jumping ship…if they do she won’t get $$.
She is so unprofessional
I agree with Samper on the shredders!!
Wasn’t there a Court order preserving the emails at the time of either the hacking or when it came out about the personal yahoo email being used for State business.
You would think someone would enter a motion to stop any possible destruction of any documents by her and her staff, now that she will be packing her stuff.
Does anyone think that Palin realizes that she just gave up all her power? I’m not sure this has hit her yet, but without that nasty “title”, that she doesn’t need, she has zero power—over anyone.
It seems that she has used fear and intimidation to control people (and threatened people’s livlihood (think Trooper Wooten and Wasilla Librarian) to get her way, but she just quit her job and gave up all her power.
My, my…how will she ever get her way?
Should we take bets as to win Van Flein will quit or be fired? I suspect by the end of next week.
So now she has insulted all politicians who have no plans for re-election or are running for a different office,if they continue to do there job for the time they are elected to do so. Will the GOP cndidates who are currently in office use her anyway to raise money even though she so obviously dispises them ??
You betcha!!!
“…as I enter into last year of office not to run again.” Seriously? How can a brain even think to write in that type of jumble? Does she know she doesn’t have to immediately hit “send” just because she typed a period? She is providing English teachers a whole lot of free material.
After watching the news clip of Meg Stapletwit’s phone interview with Anderson Cooper,I now wonder if Meg has written all of Sarah’s speeches??
They have the exact same word salad problem!!
HistoryGoddess: here is exactly what she said, the jacket I think ref. to “catgate” but the fist????
“Political operatives descended on Alaska last August, digging for dirt. The ethics law I championed became their weapon of choice. Over the past nine months I’ve been accused of all sorts of frivolous ethics violations – such as holding a fish in a photograph, wearing a jacket with a logo on it, and answering reporters’ questions.”
And by being a “private citizen,” she won’t be required to “be transparent,” or “held accountable.”
Base as it is, she still does have a base, it’s there.and it would be a mistake to rule her out as “ineffective” because she’s no longer (apparently) politically viable.
The song, “She’s Come Undone” keeps going through my head. Can’t remember who did this song. Was in the 60′s or early 70′s?
@trisha, “She’s Come Undone” – Guess Who
OK. I googled “Sarah Palin fish”. A couple of sites had the same picture of her holding a big fish in AK. Who cares? No comments with it. Nothing important. Those were the top two links. A bunch of sites following linked to her quitter speech and her own fish photograph quote. Much Sarado About Nothin’. Jeeze, she had a lot more material to work with, but then again, she pulled up a made-up issue to show her victimization. Anyone googling it would wonder why meanies were making fun of it.
I can’t help think that something snapped right after the Letterman incident. It seems that Palin’s assumed “win” pushed her to believe that she is God’s chosen one.
Let’s take a look at her odd language after her tangle with Letterman.
1. She called an image of herself “iconic”
2. She stated that the manipulation of the photo was “desecration”
3. She now claims to have a “higher calling”
4. Her last line of her facebook rant said “join me” as if she was planning on starting a new world order.
It’s all very odd and quite honestly…… creepy.
Thank you Professor. Now, if I could just get the song out of my head. LOL
Jason Linkins column (link above somewhere) on HuffPo is pretty hysterical. “Her lawyers are suing the universe. And the sun.” Or something close to that
“A higher calling”
Leaving aside the religious code words, has Palin elevated herself to the standard bearer of the GOP? While the Republican elite have offered her lemons- they’ve made it quite clear that they want nothing to do with her-has Palin decided to “make lemonade” by anointing herself as the Conservative Uniter?
By using the basketball analogy in which she is the “point guard” (the team ball handler), who is willing the “team on to victory”, has she elevated herself to the status of the Party’s Great White Hope?
@Pete, the higher calling…could it be a comet is coming to take her away?
trisha — The Guess Who
Jeebers, The Gall of that witch … SP’s latest tweet:
… I head 2 West AK villages today, look forward to their busy comm fish activity!
Wouldn’t it be nice if they could even engage in subsistence fishing activity???
I hope she gets a cold reception at the villages. Maybe a replay of the Monte Python fish dance in her honor.
it’s very creepy Trisha,
so here is my list.
1. Buttercup thinks her youngest is the 2nd coming.
2. Buttercup will be traveling to the (sic)country of Africa to do missionary work.
3. Buttercup will soon be known as “the Virgin Buttercup.”
4. Buttercup will travel the United States on a donkey.
5. Buttercup shuts up and prays she doesn’t go to prison.
Mr. Tucker should wear a name tag in case he runs into her.
HistoryGoddess,
The fish pic is one of a number she has tossed out there to appear that it was the basis of an ethics complaint when it fact — it wasn’t but it sounds good to her base as they research nothing. She said it therefore it’s truth. (gag)
It’s her spin play of “I’m the victim” of these frivolous ethics charges and we’ve beat them all.
Good morning everyone. Interesting comments all around….
I still believe something is seriously off about this story. When Karl Rove calls your “resignation part of a risky strategy,” when even he cannot think (or make up) a single good reason for quitting, there is something that just doesnt add up. Yesterday we received a screaming rant on Facebook and an intimidating mob-lawyer 4 page empty defamation threat (which is crazy long for this type of thing). I CANNOT WAIT to see what we get today! Hopefully a video of some sort. Or maybe a manifesto that Palin penned last night in crayon and stickers, while crying in the dark about those evil bloggers.
“A higher calling?” Perhaps a “Born again virgin?”
So, that deflection was truly a “big fish story” aka a bald face lie. I hope she goes to church before she goes. The Quitter has some forgiveness asking to do.
bold face lie or bald face? Whatever, her pants are SO on fire.
.
Wow, like remember the “00′s”? Like, nobody even wanted to refer to them, cuz even the name of the decade was so STOOOOPIT! They had that guy “Dubya” in the White House, and then they were gonna put this chick in there that does like, exorcisms, on the Home Shopping Network, now? Sara Fim, or something? Whoa! Before my time, like, but people must have been SO F’D UP!!! The OOOO’S!! Tee-hee!
Anyways, we’re getting a new national anthem, and you can like vote and stuff.
.
Observation:
Maelstrom of denials = truth in The Quitter’s Universe.
Wonder if the Red Shirts have received a new list of talking points from Prevo for Tuesday’s Assembly meeting.
Will they attempt to tie in her resignation to the ‘feared washroom visits” LOL! I can hear it now:
She had to resign as she found two men dressed in women’s clothing in the washroom and when she told the security person, he told her there was nothing he could do about it and she was just so “scurred” she could take no more and had to resign immediately!!!
The fish thing – Buttercup was once fined for fishing without a licence, may be it?
JHop – I believe Rove may have been behind Buttercup, but she has got all mavericky on him, he won’t like that.
As for Buttercup discussing the quitting with family and friends – not so much…….
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20289481,00.html
Follow the maelstrom.
Whatever Palin denies = truth?????
UKLady – Lol, I agree. I have no doubt he was behind her at some point, but you do NOT outmaverick Karl Rove. It is playing with fire and dark magic.
Speaking of Rove, can you imagine, if the stars had been aligned a bit better for him, the power couple that Palin and W. would have been together on the campaign trail? Screw Laura – she was just a librarian who occasionally tried to help people, like the Burmese. But W. and Palin as a tag-team force of Bushisms and “only dead fish go with the flow” like statements to lead the country at the height of our 9/11-induced obsession? I’m sorry, I am not trying to induce nightmares. But I think Palin actually makes Bush look smart and sane, in comparison. And THAT says something.
Isabella and Crystalwolf, To bad they don’t realize there stinky rainbows…Hooray for the bloggers, a least we don’t QUIT!!!
I think she’s going to the fishing villages so she can give Todd a ride back or drop him off using her security detail…didn’t he have to leave fishing so he could come “stand by her side”?
Roves #1 rule is :
Stay on Message
That eliminates sarah.
Does sarah go to church on Sunday ??
Can she walk on mudflats without getting sucked up?
I worked at a company where the President called us all together one day to a surprise meeting and said she was “retiring early”. Later we learned she had been named in a lawsuit. But anyway, apparently she thought we would all band together and protest, and demand that she return. She was a micromanaging, mean, mean person and we were delirious with joy that she had left. No one, and I mean no one, wanted her back, or even knew where she went. But I wondered if Palin thought the floodgates of sympathy would burst open, and come to her rescue.
those folks over at wonkette get down and dirty. woo wee. i can’t remember a more crazy fourth of july weekend.
its the power of crazy.
i kinda like the new rumor that palin is going to rehab. THAT makes sense.
@ENOUGH with, maybe a comet will take Sarah to rehab?
Has Sarah just had a mental breakdown?
if buttercup thought the floodgates of sympathy would burst open, then she really is mentally ill. Really. She already went over the edge by submitting the letter from her lawyer regarding rumors.
Comics are going to have so much fun with the letter, and I’m looking forward to seeing her rant and rave.
Buttercup needs to shut up, she built them up, and let them down, ooh ooh ooh.
Buttercup = Tweets for Cash
“Does ANYONE know what Gov Quit meant by “a picture of me and a fish?”
Probably the last “Open Thread – Comic Relief” where Sarah recognises the Monty Python fish slapping dance as an accurate portrayal of her governance style and can’t see what is wrong with hitting people with a big fish.
JHOP: OMG, you made my day with this statement:
I CANNOT WAIT to see what we get today! Hopefully a video of some sort. Or maybe a manifesto that Palin penned last night in crayon and stickers, while crying in the dark about those evil bloggers.
_______________________________________________
The image of a manic Palin writing her manifesto in crayon while stealing Pipers stickers has to be the funniest thing I have read in ages.
You get 5 gold star stickers for the awesome post. *****
Here is a lineup I found of Letterman’s Monday show:
David Letterman: Hayden Panettiere, Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band
Hayden was with Bristol on the panel at the Candie’s Foundation Town Hall Conference
Could be interesting!!!
Basis for the fish story (from ADN list of ethics violations)
11. Dec. 18, 2008: Complaint contended Palin misused funds of the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, a quasi-government entity, to promote her political ambitions with advertisements featuring her, violating ethics law. The ads promoting Alaska seafood ran in the National Fisherman last year through November. Dismissed Jan. 12 after a personnel board investigation determined Palin’s only involvement was to give permission to use her image long before she was named McCain’s running mate.
I couldn’t find a copy of the ad, but maybe she was holding a fish. Way to minimize something, Buttercup.
Eric-the-bun—Probably something to do with her religion!! Maybe she’s turning into a fish, oops I forgot she already is a fish– a Barracuda? More like a sucker fish….
JHop,
W. and Palin would have understood each other’s speeches!!!
They also would have sent Late Night Comics into cardiac arrest as there would be so much to choose from. Their heads would have spun trying to make decisions what to go with!!
I know why Palin is resigning; Her house payment has come due.
@ 104
JHop- “maybe a manifesto that Palin penned last night in crayon and stickers,”..
and glitter. Do not forget the glitter. Ever.
And insofar as wondering all this time if her pants are on fire yet…. she never wears pants! That explains it all!!!
Wowie, Greta is allowing Palin comments to stand that are not worshiping her.
http://gretawire.blogs.foxnews.com/2009/07/04/from-palins-lawyer/
Read the Palin lover contributions…they prove the poll that Palin attracts in majority those with less then a high school education and Deep South mentality true.
==================================
There were also some disgusting thing said about our President and First Lady. Do these people think they are helping by doing what SP is compalaining about. SP should realize these are her “followers” and it is not very Christian or American. I have edited the horrible words but if you want to read it is still on the website on page three. I did report it as abusive but no action yet. Will be interesting if they take it down. I know we should not repeat this crap but there needs to be a comparison.
==================================
michelle so proud now of America-NOT!
Nice new site Greta but the links are all broken. And I hope Sarah investigates how Mrs Obama is operating 24/7 to take down Sarah and other Republicans state and Federal as well as other people. I hope she sues the pants off that ——-, ——-, ——- mrs Obama >the man behind the curtain. Let’s open a new fund to investigate what Mrs Obama has done so far to tear Sarah’s family to shreds. Mr and Mrs obama are —-, —-, —- and dangerous people. Where did congress they find these —- —? I hope Sarah sues Mrs Obama for everything she has. I’m beginning to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Only an angry ——- like Mrs Obama could be so “behind the scenes” and threatening and I think she is involved in the death of Stephanie Tubbs Jones. and more people…many more.
Two thoughts about FBI statement:
1. FBI says ‘no investigation GOING ON’ – parsing words, if an indictment was already handed down by GJ, would the investigation still be ‘going on’? Or has the investigation been concluded by the indictment?
2. Nice to know the FBI is ‘not’ investigating. What about IRS, Postal Inspectors, U.S. Attorney, DOJ????? As soon as they all say NO, then I’ll believe Sarah and her fine atty.
trisha……don’t forget “year of Jubbilee” we should make a list.
“From what I know of Mccain, some inside stuff as well as what is outside knowledge, he is just as unstable and flighty as Palin.”
remember also, too, Scarah said Todd thought she and McCain were SO alike that it scared him, LOL.
Buttercup, Buttercup, isn’t there a song about Buttercup?
I listened closely to every word she said Friday morning (actually afternoon for me) and at first I thought it was just the pot getting to me, sometimes a few hits make even the most sensible statements sound incoherent, so I put the joint out and waited awhile, but the whole thing made even less sense to me when I was straight. She rambled senselessly about sports, talked about herself in the third person and hinted that she was being pursued by the forces of darkness. It’s scary to think that the mind inside that head was running for the number two spot in the Nation.
I have my own speculations about the reasons behind her decision and I don’t think we’ve heard the last from her yet, nor do I think we’ve heard the last on her, shall we say, less than appropriate actions both as Governor and as Mayor of Wasilla. But in the middle of her senseless rant one great truth came shining through, she said her leaving was what was best for Alaska. Can we all get an Amen on that one?
Will Scarah sue the Judge who ordered her to save ALL emails?
will she get to draw unemployment? lol
Really good article AKM, re. the rumor. This newest action by the Governor is the buzz among christians too, am certain. Hope you don’t mind, will share some scripture, but I point out that I’m a “in progress” as they say…..so I am throwing my 2 cents here. It is disillusioning for many to see this Governor’s actions knowing that she claims to be a follower as well.
A Servant’s Heart: Be merciful as your Father also is merciful. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamour and evil-speaking be put away from you, wih all malice.
Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you.
Can’t recall where, but another passage commands christians not to bring a brother to court. And I know the one “Judge not, that ye be not judged”, which I too have to take personally, wondering if I am being judgmental here. But, after some reflection, I know that constituents (the little guy) who are depending on a supposed representative of Christ to tell the truth, not over exagerrate, not deceive, etc., DESERVE at the very least to expect that servant’s heart shining example. It’s a sad day when a “servant” wants to throw her weight around by threats of lawsuits, not a good example.
Got to say that the person who does show, so far, true integrity, and moderation, temperance is President Obama.
Cartoon Pig Dog
You are thinking of ‘Build me up Buttercup’, the words are quite appopriate -
“you build me up baby, just to let me down”
Say No
Maybe those emails will come tumbling out now people can’t be intimidated so much.
Why did you build us up (build us up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let us down (let us down) and go nuts around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you completely quit, baby
When you said you wouldnt (you wouldnt), now youre a liar
We hate you (hate you) more than anyone, darlin’
You know that we have from the start
So build us up (build us up) Buttercup, this warms my heart….
you guys have had such good ideas! i think we are missing a lucrativ opportunity to write our own manifesto. i think every media outlet would pick it up in a heart beat. and we would have to use glitter too, that was an A+ suggestion.
Here is a quote from comments made on Greta’s blog bout buttercup resigning. “Sarah Palin, via Twitter: God told me to sue the internet ”
lmao
Since we seem to be getting lawsuit-happy…..
Can we please sue the repub party for foisting this Mccrazy/Nutjob team on us as viable POTUS/VPOTUS candidates??? This is the worst defrauding of America that’s ever been. The financial settlement could repay our national debt.
Rebekka, yep, and there is that “turn the cheek” verse too. and the golden rule “do unto other’s as you would have them do unto you”
No, I’m not Buttercup, I just want to whine like her. I do have a keychain with Buttercup from the Powerpuff girls that says “I think someone needs a hiney whoppin” when you press the button on her back. =)
POLITICO: “Palin, said, Kristol, is making a sound decision in “a world where people don’t value years of experience in Washington, or even conceivably two terms as governor of Alaska.”
um, so their whole “experience matters” mantra that they shoved down our throat for 2 years doesn’t matter anymore. makes sense.
Kristol added: “I do think the attacks were amazing. She had been the object of more hated, I would say, and more hatred thats been accepted by the mainstream media than any politician I could remember.”
i guess he forgot about hillary. and the attacks on sotomayor being a crazy puerto rican extremist and racist are cool too.
what hypocrites.
lol, this time I tried to change my name to buttercup zyggy, but was put in moderation again, ‘nuf of that. lol
This is what I wrote:
No, I’m not Buttercup, I just want to whine like her. I do have a keychain with Buttercup from the Powerpuff girls that says “I think someone needs a hiney whoppin” when you press the button on her back. =)
UK lady……..at least I think a few employees will very careful not to do something that will possibly get them get in trouble down the road. In fact many may be squirreling away their own defense evidence, just in case they have to cover their butts.
I can’t even imagine what it would be like to work for her, shudder!
If you all haven’t had the pleasure of reading Paul Begala’s take on Palin balin’, please trot on over to HuffPo. I’m guessing he’ll be receiving an angry missive from VanFlea also too:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/paul-begala/sarah-palin-turns-pro_b_225633.html
JHop – Wow! that’s fantastic news! can’t remember the last time Kristol was right about anything.
I think that soon to be ex-Governor Spears, er….. Palin, is about to treat us to two eruptions:
1. Considering GINO’s recent use of the phrases “Higher Authority” and “Year of Jubilee”, this article in the July 01 issue of Christianity Today appears to be prescient.
“A new federation of two dozen conservative Christian group announced plans today to work together to strategize around moral values they feel are under attack across the
country.
“We are not wed to a particular partisan candidate or party,” said Mathew Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel and an organizer of the Freedom Federation. “We are wed to core shared values.”
Those values include opposition to abortion, same-sex marriage and pornography and support for religious freedom, limited government and the right to own firearms.”
As a potential spokesperson for this group, Palin would retain the national platform she craves while cloaked in 1st Amendment rights, protected by her base and be free to make unlimited amounts of money.
If indeed this is her plan and she times her announcement correctly, she can claim prejudice when/(if) …
2. … the alleged “House-gate” affair breaks.
In the cryptic suggestion of an iceberg coming to sink the USS Palin. the phrase ‘house of cards” is used. This may be telling, especially considering the timing of Palin’s announcement in relation to the deadline for sentencing for Bill Allen.
From a March 4, 2009 ADN article:
The two Veco Corp. officials at the center of the Alaska public corruption scandal once again on Wednesday had their sentences for bribery and conspiracy postponed.
Former Veco chief executive Bill Allen and a Veco vice president, Rick Smith, won’t have to worry about prison again until at least June 30, when federal prosecutors will present another status report on their cooperation in the long-running FBI investigation.
U.S. District Judge John Sedwick accepted the most recent status report, filed under seal Tuesday by prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s office in Anchorage. He agreed to allow the filing in secret “because it relates to on-going investigations,” he wrote in an order.
Sedwick’s order was the fifth time he has delayed sentencing and asked for status reports since the two men pleaded guilty in May 2007 to corrupting Alaska legislators. Their trial testimony has since led to guilty verdicts against two legislators and former U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens.
Federal guidelines entitle Allen and Smith to shorter sentences if they continue to cooperate until they are no longer needed. The latest delay is the strongest indication yet that the government is still pursuing its investigation despite setbacks following the Stevens conviction, including an FBI agent who claimed another agent and prosecutors violated Justice Department policy and may have broken the law.
Stay tuned and be sure to add plenty of butter to the popcorn.
Bill Kristol, like Rich Lowry, only sees starbursts when looking at Sarah Palin.
Maybe they have some ocular degeneration.
JHOP, she wants the attacks! it’ll make for better book sales.
Anyone see the Blingee of Palin at Wonkette?
http://wonkette.com/409646/thanks-for-ruining-the-teabaggers-4th-of-july-party-palin
This is worth a look. The stories and comments there are priceless.
JHop–it reminds me of her crayon and stickers manifesto. ha!
yellerdog – LOL, I think I’ll need to buy my own cow, that’s the only way I’ll be able to afford all the butter I’ll need. I think I’ll call her “Buttercup”.
Did someone just receive a “Target Letter”???
yellerdog, terrific post.
“He agreed to allow the filing in secret “because it relates to on-going investigations,” he wrote in an order…The latest delay is the strongest indication yet that the government is still pursuing its investigation despite setbacks following the Stevens conviction…”
really, really interesting idea with all kinds of implications.
As for drawing unemployment, for most of us, if we quit, we don’t get the unemployment (exceptions can happen; if you were driven to quit, for instance, but then you gotta prove it)
As for “Judge not…” Somewhere or other (I’ll find it) it also says “Judge righteous judgment” Frankly, I’ve had too many bruises from the self-proclaimed righteous, I tend to run fast in the opposite direction when I hear ‘em coming.
This may sound stupid, but for anyone who watches “The 1st 48″ – a tv show that shows real life homicide investigations – I’ve noticed that every single time they are questioning someone, if that suspect says “Honest, officer” or “well, tell ya the truth”… it’s a lie. It’s as if they have to label it as “truth” (because it just ISN’T true).
Which is why I try so hard to verify things said by those who claim such godliness: “Would I lie to you?” …I verify.
On Huffpo, there is an article stating the the FBI says they are not investigating Palin. Hmmmm.
1. Would they tell the media about an ongoing investigation?
2. If that’s true, why aren’t they investigating?
Comment I read on Daily Kos. lol
“We’ve seen a lot of nutty behavior from governors and Republican leaders in the last three months, but this one is at the top of that,” said John Weaver, a longtime friend and confidant of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.)
yellerdog! Yes!
I tried to post a comment on Akm’s huffpost that everyone had a right to question the housegate rumor considering the very same Spenard Builder Supply was involved with Veco and Ted Steven’s and look where he’d be if his trial hadn’t been botched.
But I don’t think the mods let it through.
Lol, i love wonkette. it was arguably my favorite website before i stumbled upon you all. and i have never commented on any site before; i really have no idea why i felt compelled to do so here, but i am so happy that i did! it figures, though, that i would connect with people in the furthest state possible from me. awesome. i guess after-work drinks are out of the question.
JHop– it’s fun to have a legal eagle on board
over 400 AKM Huffpo comments and 121 pending, lol……keepin them busy!
Wonderful take on Palin’s resignation at the Alaska Dispatch. Don’t miss it!
It was RUMORED that SP HATED the way “the GINO” caught on – PURPORTEDLY, it drove her nuts! Hope she likes her new moniker better.
Bye bye BUTTERCUP – had you learned to get along with others, behaved in an ethical matter, and actually accomplished anything of importance while holding your “title,” none of this would be happening. Oh, and FYI BUTTERCUP, “Governor” is not a title – it is a JOB.
JUNEAU EMPIRE: “A snapshot of Ms. Palin’s activities, as viewed through her daily schedules for May of this year, suggested a governor largely focused on the ceremonial aspects of her job. On most days, there were gaps in Ms. Palin’s schedules. On May 6, for example, the only items on her schedule were a 45-minute interview with Runner’s World and a meeting with guests at the governor’s house in Juneau. On May 22, she had four items listed on her schedule: promotions at the middle school in her hometown, a book dedication ceremony, a girls’ soccer game and an event at which she and her family dropped a puck at a hockey game.”
you guys are really going to miss her. i am not sure how the state will survive now. don’t cry, it will be okay.
lol jhop, I do think after work drinks are out of the question in person, but you can drink and blog at the same time.
If you keep drinking and writing, your writing will look like what Buttercup Word Salad says. =)
UK Lady,,, actually, I knew the song, I have it, I was just joking around on the buttercup name, but the little lyric rewrites posted were pure gold. I have some close friends that are very talented musicians, (the group is called “The Fat Cats”), think maybe I’ll get together with them and see if we can work up a complete rewrite to that song and record it to post in the Forum. Maybe even do a video for it. Or, maybe even get a little contest going in the Forum and get other musicians to make music videos of old classics rewritten to fit the topic.
OMG… from Wonkette comment “Next she’ll have twins and name them Cut and Run” AKM brings out my inner activist, and Wonkette my inner snark.
did ya see what AKM twittered, lol
“Sarah Palin Twitter-Stuttered again. She’s either got 2 people Tweeting, or she’s got short term memory loss and posts the same thing twice.”
From a comment on HuffPo:
Prefer Cabernet Sauvignon here – usually Robert Mondavi, but once or twice a year (special occasions) I spring for a bottle of Opus One. But, at $200 a bottle, not often.
Had an ’88 Opus One at a friend’s house last Christmas ($550) and it was exquisite. Far and away THE best bottle of wine I ever tasted.
Just picked up a case of Casillero del Diablo (Cellar of the Devil), mixed reds and whites and haven’t tried it yet. Will open one with some popcorn at SP’s indictment.
) that Sarah is joining the Westboro Baptist church, and will be Fred Phelps right hand girl. She will join them in chanting, “God hates Fags” at funerals nationwide.
Thanks Zyggy
Tweet her back. “Suck it up, Buttercup!”
From another HuffPo comment to AKM’s latest: “Would Jesus sue?”
Another good post on HuffPo:
“If [the media] convince enough voters that that is negative campaigning, for me to call Barack Obama out on his associations then I don’t know what the future of our country would be in terms of First Amendment rights and our ability to ask questions without fear of attacks by the mainstream media.” –Sarah Palin, getting First Amendment rights backwards while suggesting that criticism of her is unconstitutional, radio interview with WMAL-AM, Oct. 31, 2008
White Zin or Conundrum are my wine faves… I’m not sure what that means, but I knew someone secretly wanted to know. What a weekend. What’s next? Has Van Flea read the blogs to see what other attys think of his posturing? So many people have offered to be sued on HuffPo, he will be a rich man if Buttercup doesn’t run through her PAC money fast, also.
Oh crap! She’s heading out to the villages!
When are those 5 Cabinet heads getting there? (i.e. the “Feds”?)
“Maybe it’s time to consider that the governor of Alaska just went a little bit nuts on the eve of the Fourth of July. It wouldn’t be the first time it has happened. People lose touch with reality and do crazy things all the time.
Maybe there’s nothing more to this than what the ducks behind Palin on Lake Lucille were telling everyone all during her announcement:
“Quack, quack quack.”
Craig Medred has been a reporter in Alaska for more than 30 years. He has in that time witnessed all sorts of craziness. He long ago gave up believing there were sensible explanations for all human behavior.
Palin’s Twitter messages 3 hrs ago:
Does she seriously think she’s going to find apologies or retractions — for what?? I suspect she will play this out the same way she did with Letterman. Should we anticipate her appearances this week on all the various shows once more playing “The Victim”. Boo-Hoo!!!
Great – now I’ve got the buttercup song (which is a favorite for little girl dance groups), scenes from the Princess Bride, and images of Palin all stuck in my head! I think I best get some fresh air.
It was great to hear CC on the air again. She is missed in this household.
omg buttercup linked the site that I posted about early, where the FBI isn’t investigating, but but buttercup, it would be the irs, call them buttercup and ask them.
I questioned that link because a fbi person answered, they don’t answer questions. “I can neither confirm nor deny…” is their mantra. Nice to know buttercup depends on the internet for her alibi. She better not sue her alibi, that would be bad. lol
Somewhere, political linguists are parsing her Tweets and shaking their heads.
I just ran a Twitter search for “Suck it up buttercup” and got a zillion hits.
Yes, the Anderson Cooper phone interview on Friday with meg was priceless.
I forgot where Anderson came from, son of Gloria Vanderbilt, Manhatten elite.
OMG does he have snark down pat. He owned Meghan in that interview. I held AC in high regard during the Katrina debacle but since then he’s been pretty ho hum. Usually he’s fairly gentle so I was shocked at his brazeness in the interview. I think he realized KO. Rachel & even dipstick greta were off on Friday & it was up to him to run with the ball! Outstanding job Anderson, I am beginning to remember what I liked about you to begin with.
hi everybody. woke up to the words of an obscure rap song~~~~”She might as well have fun““cause her happiness is done““and her goose is cooked” it is a beautiful day in new york..i’ll be back. had fun last night listening to the blogcast.“`samper….you are a love…love b
Well mudpups I will say this for sure “buttercup” “lol” sure has given us lots of fodder over the last few months.
As we have watched her antics, her complete lack of true interests in Alaskan issues, her obfuscation of anything that points to her personal behavior and tactics. Her screwing with appointments to open seats in legislators that have garnered her some of the anger she has received from Alaskan, she throws us this curveball.
I do have a question, right after Palin returned from the campaign and she seemed to be in that weird frantic melt down state, her weird disconnect with the “Turkey Pardon ” and all the other frivolous behavior. Palins church in Wasilla was torched. Even the worst of Palin haters were angry with that.
The news came out about some investigation and then when the church reopened. But i don’t remember ever hearing that the investigation was resolved. Does any one know anything about that?
I always thought that it was her followers trying to make her look the victim.
#197 JC:
You are so right about Anderson Cooper! He has been far too accepting for many months of people saying unsupportable things.
Magnum Staplegun is usually quite adept at handling tough questions, but he didn’t just own her, he pwned her! And in such a nice way! I could stand seeing more of THAT Anderson Cooper in the future…
OMG!!! trying to read her tweets is worse than trying to understand the comments in a chatroom for pre-schoolers
My take after much thought is—-she planned to announce she was not running for re-election .As the time grew near,she was faced with the reality that folks would not look at her in the same light.Anxiety set in. At the last minute,she just “got a wild hair” and decided what the hell.
her twitter account drives me crazy. she is like a child. what governor only tweets solely about press complaints? she gives credibility to everything she whines about. it is absurd.
really good NYT article.
i want her emails released. can someone give me a brief background on the FOIA request and what has happened? I read that celtic blue diva (?) had to pay a ridiculous fee, which was crazy to me. has legal action been taken? i think that if a suit hasn’t been initiated already, there are solid grounds to do so; a motion to compel could easily be filed, asking a judge to order them to comply with the law. a FOIA request is supposed to take 30 days (it never does, but I have never wait like this)!
Canadian Neighbour:
Thanks for finding the link to the LA Times story, which quotes the Alaska FBI spokesman as saying there is NO FBI investigation into Sarah Palin. It is only fair that we spread the word on that.
Of course, that doesn’t mean there isn’t some other kind of investigation. But providing construction labor in exchange for political favors (ie, ‘housegate’) sounds like FBI fodder to me.
A confidential investigation would have been answered with a ‘no comment’. I think we all should just focus on the wealth of questionable behaviors and statements by Palin that can be documented, and let the ‘iceberg’ – if there is one – hit when it is ready to do so.
hope no one tried to follow my name link, I doubled up on the http// bit, no such web page, lol
Have you all seen the picture of The Twitter Quitter in the 4th of July parade in Juneau, she has that ugly — yellow sweater on again, talk about not knowing how to dress for the a 4th of July parade, hint–red, white, and blue….
Quitter Sarah is obsessed with the blogs/ Internet. Shouldn’t she be spending some quality time with kids/ family or going to church and praying this will all just go away…. After all it is Sunday.
Bye bye BUTTERCUP – had you learned to get along with others, behaved in an ethical matter, and actually accomplished anything of importance while holding your “title,” none of this would be happening. Oh, and FYI BUTTERCUP, “Governor” is not a title – it is a JOB.
To show you how professional AKM is when reporting and writing stories or giving us the facts.. I found this little line in the Washington post story today.
Where do THEY get their info from… and where is the fact-checking..?
(from Wapo )
“Another reason Palin decided to leave office is her income potential, advisers said. As governor, she earns $125,000, and Todd Palin, an oil production operator and commercial fisherman, took home about $86,000 (not counting $5,600 for winning the Iron Dog snowmobile race), according to her latest financial disclosure.”
——————————
Now I don’t remember what Todd’s purse winning were this past year when he ‘ participated in ‘ The Iron Dog. Didn’t he come in ‘ 6th Place ‘..?
(previous winner.. Yes)
Washington Post said he WON the Race…. NOT that I remember.
They should verified their Facts… with the Alaska bloggers.
The US Attorney’s Office for Alaska, a Federal agency, COULD BE investigating her. US Attorney’s are part of the DEPT. of Justice, they are NOT the FBI.
JHop,
There was a story just last week I believe as to the emails. All the various stations and Andrea McLeod that filed FOIA last fall. I can’t find the link.
There have been numerous extensions asked for and granted, hence the delay of course producing them. The Gov’s office had initially quoted millions to one of the papers or networks for them and eventually knocked the price down
One of the other Mudpups might recall which site the story was on
“The US Attorney’s Office for Alaska, a Federal agency, COULD BE investigating her. US Attorney’s are part of the DEPT. of Justice, they are NOT the FBI.”
So could the IRS and they are very closed lipped (as the FBI USUALLY IS) about whether they are investigating anything. I would bet Eric may be getting a dressing down come Monday morning for even talking to anyone from the press.
He may find himself doing his FBI recruiting job in an even more out of the way place than Alaska
JHop: on the FOIA request by Celtic Diva…don’t hold your breath. She just sent the check to them, and I bet they only start the search now that they have the money.
You can check in on the status at Diva’s Blue Oasis, by using the link in the right column of this blog.
(I check daily!)
From the NYT article: “Ms. Palin did not specify what those changes were, but there had been several changes in recent weeks, including the resignation of two top officials in the state health department, with one saying she was forced out because her views on abortion issues were not in line with those of the administration.”
Did she make a habit of forcing out those whose views were different from hers? Kinda makes you wonder about her denying that the Wasilla librarian was fired over refusing to get rid of books she deemed inappropriate.
Bumper Stickers . . .
I want a “Where’s Sarah” bumper sticker and can’t find one in the Mud Flats Store. Now is the perfect time to produce bumper stickers and start watching them show on the streets.
I’ll check back later to find more info on bumper stickers.
I can only imagine the troops’ heads are spinning. She visited the Alaska National Guard troops deployed overseas last week, honors their service, their sacrifice, and then as CIC of the Alaska National Guard decides to cut and run.
Just down right disgraceful.
The FBI is part of the Department of Justice. But the IRS is not.
I also think we should consider the fact that the FBI said that they are not investigating Sarah Palin. What about Todd?
I have one fear that I must confess, though. I am afraid that she made some sort of deal and resigning was part of the deal. And whatever she did has been swept under the rug by agreement. This would be nearly impossible if there was any sort of “official” deal; we would have the right to know. But Alaskan politics are known for corruption; who knows what the GOP or local officials or the ethics board did to save face, and ultimately save Palin. There is still one open ethics complaint…
Lori @ 219 – good point.
OK. I googled “Sarah Palin fish”. A couple of sites had the same picture of her holding a big fish in AK. Who cares? No comments with it. Nothing important. Those were the top two links. A bunch of sites following linked to her quitter speech and her own fish photograph quote. Much Sarado About Nothin’. Jeeze, she had a lot more material to work with, but then again, she pulled up a made-up issue to show her victimization. Anyone googling it would wonder why meanies were making fun of it.
the following is the only reference to fishing on the blogs in recent weeks that I have seen. Typical of Sarah Palin to kidnap the post as being “all about her”
When my sis ter called to say she was on TV resigning, I flipped over to Fake News to see how they were covering it. After the news conference, the interviewer had Pig Lips brother on the phone. The brother claimed he learned about the resignstion the same time we all did – the news conference. The Fake News announce said they at Fake, learned about it 2 hours before the announcement. What does that mean? Fake News is more important then real family? And if family ahd this discussion, why was first husband fishing in Bristol Bay? Remember she said “he flew in last night to be at my side, as usual”? If they was planned, discussed, and voted on this, wouldn’t he have been at home already, well before the announcement. Regardless on her defensiveness now, something smells to high heaven.
JHop,
I think it was their belief they could finance the State quoting those fees!! It also was telling how inexperienced they were with dealing with MSM as there is no way they would settle for those numbers. To even charge 5 to 10 thousand for each outlet, there being 13, for what could possibly be the same emails — not a bad job if you can find it. It would entail photocopies after the initial search retrieval.
It also opens to door to — what are they hiding!!!
That story on MSNBC re: The email requests shows that Svobodny is willing to deliberately mislead just like Palin.
He claims:
“For example, in the last eight months the Department of Law has devoted over 4,000 hours to providing legal review and advice on public records requests at a cost to the state of over $450,000. To put that in context, over those eight months the Department has had the full time equivalent of four people working on public records requests to the exclusion of their normal duties. This effort is unprecedented, unexpected and unbudgeted. The Department of Law, already operating with diminished staff due to the hiring freeze compelled by the recent downturn in state revenues and only recently rescinded, could not have done more.”
Now correct me if I am wrong but didn’t we find out that the “hiring freeze” was basically a joke and that 99% of those “exception requests” were approved during that so-called “freeze”??
Was the Dept. of Law the one place that an exception request was not granted in a deliberate attempt to block the access to those email requests?
I think we should all email Shanny’s radio station, let them know how much we appreciate her and her show, that we’d love more days for it, also, too.
I can just see the Scarah, Eddie pal Smirk AND her cult groupies trying to get her fired, it’s their MO. I listened and emailed last week, I didn’t get to listen last night but will asap.
Funny comment on the WashPo article on the Twittering quitter:
“How long before she shaves her head?”
LOL.
State agencies are known for using “reasonable” fees to their advantage. But that is nuts. Arguably, although the state would never go for it, they could file for a waiver:
DOJ: “If you expect or are advised that a fee will be charged, you may request a reduction or fee waiver of those fees. However, fee waivers are limited to situations in which a requester can show that disclosure of the requested information is in the public interest because it is likely to contribute significantly to public understanding of the operations and activities of the government and is not primarily in the commercial interest of the requester.”
I was reading some of AKM’s comments under the Huffpo story and I got to thinking of a good theme song and this mental picture for Buttercup and her family.
” The Sound of Music”…? And wasn’t it music to our ears when she resigned.
This big family with all these kids and as they all stand on the stage they sing…
“So long, farewell Auf Wiedersehen, goodnight”…Buttercup waves good bye for the LAST time and all Her family exit stage left ( everybody wave goodbye )
And we will have to stop using GINO as a name. She is Governor no more. Buttercup it is from here on. In honor of Shannyn… and because it will really tick of Buttercup because Shannyn coined it….a two-fer
Did not go , but the paper said only a few hundred people showed up at the one Joe the Dumber was at.
There was a different one that Cornyn got booed at that was held on the grounds of the Capitol.
BTW – Loved hearing you last nite.
Is anyone else curious why the trust fund embezzlement rumor was not specifically addressed by Van Flein? An anonymous poster has posted on various blogs that he/she is said “victim’ of the rumored embezzlement and has stated that it will “bring Palin down.”
Is Van Flein trying to intimidate and shut down speculation about the real reasons Palin resigned by drawing the attention away from the real issue with his laboriously long, detailed explanation of the sports center and the Wasilla house? It would make wily sense to bluster and blow about one issue to take away the spotlight from a possible real issue.
Pure speculation here but….perhaps Palin’s resignation was a requirement in the settlement of the trust fund issue?
So I read this in the NYT article….
“Ms. Palin’s schedule shows a 15-minute phone conversation with former Vice President Dick Cheney on May 7. A family friend of the Cheneys said that the conversation was about a vacation that the Cheneys were considering taking to Alaska this summer.”
…and wonder…Have the Cheneys shown up yet? It is officially summer now…any sightings of them? Maybe their AK vacation will begin June 26th. Now that would make ya go hmmmm????
And one more thing — Jhop, I’m really digg’n your commentary! Welcome!
Jhop…….I thought the same thing. I wondered if she hadn’t been sued by Beverly Wooley over being fired and as a condition of dropping the suit Scarah would have to step down. What do you think?
here’s a link to the story, btw, Beverly’s last day was Wed., the very day Scarah told her lt. gov. Beverly knew back in early June she was going. Also a Doc opted to quit and leave the state rather than supposedly take over Bev’s duties to make it look like the state was “consolidating jobs”, calling Bev’s job a luxury.
does anyone have handy the blog post of Beverly’s goodbye letter to co-workers?
PS, Welcome aboard good ship mudflats! you’re an official mudpuppy now! hugs and cheers
I value Geoffrey Dunne’s insight/opinion:
By being a lame duck, Palin would have exposed herself to more negative coverage, more public failure. By stepping down she allows herself to regroup, get out from under the microscope and re-emerge as a national figure without the constant strain of serving as governor.
Some news sources are claiming that Palin is stepping away from politics permanently; perhaps. But I didn’t hear that today. What I heard were typical Palin code words that she has her ambitions set for higher office, for a national stage. Her shots at Obama’s stimulus package were just one of many signals aimed directly at Washington.
So do not think for a moment that this is the last we will be hearing from Sarah Palin. The Federal Election Commission will soon be reporting how much money Palin’s SarahPAC has raised over the past four months. You can bet that Palin has a lot of gas left in her tank. She is the gift that John McCain gave us that will not go away.
Hello mudpups!
Unfortunately I had to go to work right after AKM announced the “press conference” on Friday. Had to listen to all of the “it breaks my heart” talk of the news at work (argh). After answering all of the phone messages and e-mails when I got home, I was up half the night trying to get caught up on all of the comments and blogs. Then I had to work yesterday and just caught Shannyn’s show on my way home. Too exhausted to post anything after that.
So. I have had a little time to digest it all (urp-excuse me).
dss55: You beat me to “the Iquitarod” which had me ROFL.
jhop: welcome to mudflats. It is awesome to have legal opinions posted.
Since I have dial-up I cannot listen to SP’s “speech” (thank god). I did try to read the transcript (that is always so much more enlightening than listening to her).
It seemed to me that there was an awful lot of code in there for a POTUS run. Or…maybe she just can’t get off her talking points. It reminds me of something said way back in the Carter years about the crazy rich guy from TX who ran as an independent (can’t remember his name-you know who I am talking about). “sounds like an old record. being played on a phonograph. on the back of a pick-up, bouncing down a dirt road, by a needle made from a peanut” (I’am paraphrasing-it has been a long time).
I don’t really know what to think of any of it. Can,t quite figure out the why of any of it. Why can’t she just come out and say whatever the reason is so we can get back to taking care of business? I know, because it is much more fun to have everybody speculating and talking about Sarah. “Look at me, I quit in my shiny red shoes”.
I am happy that we will not have to put up with a do-nothing, vindictive, power-crazed governor anymore (maybe-I don’t know diddly about Parnell). I have always been of the belief that whomever is in that job should DO THE JOB.
At this point there is a lot of the job that needs to get done before winter. As I said before, apparently we cannot depend on our politicians to get stuff done. Please read Anna Strongheart’s posts. Eagle needs gravel pads and they need them NOW. Summer is half over for them and they will need warm, dried in shelter soon. What can we do–evil, powerful people that we are–to get the fire lit under DOT’s butt?
SP going to the west villages? OMG. Can’t wait to see commercial fishing? WTF? Have those people been paid for the work they have done yet? How are they going to survive the winter without enough food? Price of fuel isn’t exactly cheap right now.
I think that we need to focus on how some of these problems are going to get resolved.
And Jerry Prevo is still spouting his hateful crap and riling up his followers for next Tuesday…
Shannyn is brilliant in not backing down to SP’s empty threats. SP still doesn’t get how the internet works (in spite of the smackdown the last time).
And wonkette makes me laugh every day.
Cheers. I’m in Alaska but I don’t quite feel free of the nightmare yet.
jhop, question for ya……..whose job would redacting info in the emails fall to? someone in the administration and her lawyer and the personnel board? what kind of oversight protection does the public “usually” have?
Polly, I suspect he is very close to being correct, but Bailin Palin is a Quitter, a two time Quitter, and that doesn’t look good on a resume’. Right now her head is so big, that she can’t quite get through a hall way, considering she said she has done all she could for Alaska.
She is toast, she just doesn’t know it yet. Her Palibots can donate until they are broke, but it’s not going to help, too many word salad days.
wow, she said “smack down lies” LOL, how very gov’y of her……she’s off her rocker!
She will keep the POTUS thing up as long as she can to keep the interest going and the price up. She can sell herself around for two years before having to put up. She could pull a Thompson and string it out for a last grasp at attention.
Huffpo commenter has it right:
Remember, Sarah, wherever you run, there you are.
Say NO – I don’t think that a condition of any private lawsuit could be that she resigned. Unless, of course, Palin did it on her own and entered into a confidential settlement once she knew the suit had legs or they had damning evidence. But I think Palin would fight something like that. You can stipulate or settle to, well, anything, but I think resigning as governor would be pushing it.
I am more concerned about an agreement with the Ethics Board or another administrative agency. Their proceedings are shrouded in secrecy; a complainant does not even have the right to know what the outcome of their own complaint was or how the outcome came to be. Maybe over the emails or using her trust. Or even something to do with house-gate. Something complicated that could lead to much bigger problems for Palin.
Her attack yesterday seemed preemptive, like she was trying to force an issue into the closet when people were bringing it to light. She went on this crazy offensive before any action called for it. It just sets off alarms for me. She also seems so f-ing confident, which is nagging me; like she knows something we don’t. Like maybe she has some under the table agreement and knows the truth is NOT coming to light (although, i would hope it would get out eventually). But I am talking about right now, in the near future. We are all waiting for the other shoe to drop. Maybe she knows nothing is looming because she made sure it wasn’t, by resigning. And yesterday’s chatter pissed the hell out of her. I don’t know. But it is really really weird to me.
Forgive me if this has already been posted – I’ve been away, and haven’t had the 2+ hours it’s going to take to catch up!
A friend e-mailed me that she read in the Juneau Empire that they are singing in the streets “Ding, Dong, The Witch Is Dead” That’s what she gets for wearing those red shoes!
I did drop the Buttercup name on the Huffpo link and explained how Shannyn coined it to her with the ” Bring it on Buttercup” phrase. They seemed to like it. Hopefully all the Huffposters will start coining Shannyn. Sort of a tribute as well.
I think that the quote that everyone is referring to is the one that says
” Update: This just in my inbox, from a source connected sometimes to CNN:
“Here’s a quote I got from law enforcement here in Alaska yesterday afternoon regarding Palin “a criminal indictment is pending authorization.” ”
That doesn’t state FBI or even federal, although others have said they have heard federal, that is still rumor as far as I can tell. The only direct thing says criminal indictment and doesn’t say by what agency. I would have to guess that this was in Dennis Zaki’s inbox as the only Alaskan I’ve heard of with ties to CNN sometimes (that is just a guess). His web page still says the same thing. So the FBI statement only means, that it isn’t their investigation.
I don’t know that a resignation can stop a criminal investigation with an already pending indictment, but maybe she hopes it can. One can assume that her lawyer at least, would be aware of what is going on, but lawyers are paid to protect their clients, so he would be the last to give anything away.
I wouldn’t think that Palin would give away anything until after the fact to any other connections. Why rock the boat, when it might still all go away.
Say NO to Palin in Politics Says:
jhop, question for ya……..whose job would redacting info in the emails fall to? someone in the administration and her lawyer and the personnel board? what kind of oversight protection does the public “usually” have?
In my experience, normal things like social security numbers, personal data is redacted automatically. but normally both sides will argue for what they want withheld or included and why it should be that way (unless it is a national security concern or something important to state/government secrets). the FOIA agency would be in charge of this, normally. but you can then bring their response into court. i can’t imagine they would be able to redact very much in this case.
the public would have to have a reason to request an explanation of the redaction, i.e. why they think the redacted section should not be redacted. which is hard, considering you don’t know what is blacked out!
FOIA agencies are by far the biggest money losers in the nation. they do not have the manpower anywhere to keep up with the requests. i wish they would prioritize them (obviously this is a bigger request than if, for example, i was asking for my dad’s old vietnam war records or whatever), but they don’t.
OMG-Cheney is coming to Alaska??? Is he going to do some hunting?
Everybody duck!
I wonder how many times today SP has hisssed, “Ssuck it up, Buttercup,” just prior to launching another flying object.
there are professional services like the one i linked above to expedite FOIA requests. sometimes they are helpful, sometimes they aren’t.
but any member of the public can file a judicial appeal to challenge redactions and omissions, etc.
new thread, woo hoo.
Wasn’t Kristol the one who first suggested Palin to the McCain camp for VP after meeting her while he was on an Alaskan Republican Cruise or something like that? He has a lot invested in her. He’s intimately tied into the email/leak scandal.
He was the first pundit that was saying this was a smart choice after her resignation as far as I can tell and the others just picked up the talking point.
He’s trying to do damage control, whether she or anyone else is going to help him.
He Is a bit of a dufus in my opinion.
Like someone said earlier, it’s impossible to get anything done when I keep finding something else to read…and something else……and something else…..
“I head 2 West AK villages today, look forward to their busy comm fish activity!”
…ahhh…so they’re headed over to Dillingham today, so Todd can get back to fishing?
Probably a nicer place for her to be right now. People are busy; no one has time to chase her around and fewer people that read blogs and internet news. Anyone who dislikes her politics will politely avoid her and give her lots of room; everyone else will suck up like crazy. She’ll get a hero’s welcome and showered with adoration, attention and well-wishing everywhere she goes.
Good move, Sarah. A little ego-stroking would be a nice change right now.
Callan might be over there too; you might have a little competition for attention. You remember Callan, don’tcha?
The U.S. National Team athlete that you blew off at the Slush Cup event a few months ago? The Yupik Eskimo teenager from Dillingham on the short-track to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics? The Yupik Eskimo that finished the season as the top-ranked Junior athlete _in the world_. The 2008 National Champion, you remember.
The Yupik Eskimo from western Alaska that will be the first Eskimo to compete in the Olympics, EVER. The athlete that pays for training and competition expenses by working the back deck on Grandpa’s fishing boat in Bristol Bay. [Boy, there's a heart-warming story for ESPN...]
The X-Games athlete sponsored by Ocean Beauty Seafoods.
Cute, funny, articulate, well-spoken; the perfect representative of Alaska salmon at the New York event last month that Todd filled in for.
http://tiny.cc/DjnPg
No, don’t remember? Oh yeah, that’s right. Bob and Mark from KWHL forgot to announce her. The media was too busy with the First Family and Arctic Cat promotion, to mention an Eskimo World Cup athlete at a ski event.
It was an opportunity to awknowledge and commend her dedication and hard work, particularly as it relates to inspiration and motivation to bush Alaska teenagers and pursuing opportunity. You know, leaving the village, being successful, returning home…all those things you said kids in the village need to do?
I just have to add – the Alaska teenager that REALLY graduated from high school, in three years with a 3.2 GPA while traveling and competing, and is REALLY abstinent and REALLY drug and alcohol-free for all the right reasons.
A _real_ role model of competency and the relevance of good choices.
While Sarah and Bristol garnered national media attention for the Wasilla rager teen crowd, it might be a different story on the ground in Dillingham, hmmm?
How about the runner from Naknek, living out of his car in Washington state so that he can compete nationally?
How about some media spotlight on real successes coming out of villages?
I am not sure how to find the exact folder or thread in the Forum… but I just did a search by using the name Beverly Wooley using the search term at the top. that’s the fastest way to find it. The Folder says ” Governor fires Public Dealth Director, but the search will get you right to the folder.
just saw this on DU, a post by “Bravo.”
Lincoln required 719 words and no exclamation points to free the slaves.
Jefferson managed to declare our national independence in 1,322 words … again, no exclamation points. Caribou Barbie needed 2,549 words and 18 exclamation points to say, “You’re mean. I quit.”
She even gets in a dig at Todd as well as Stapleton, also-too. calling her “Magnum Staplegun” (gotta admit, it’s an apt moniker)
Palin said her administration had “accomplished more during this one term than most governors do in two.”
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/07/05/palin.reaction/index.html
More what exactly, sarah?
And, yeah, I loved the “Magnum Staplegun’ moniker from the Ear.
For a good laugh, listen once again to the fallout after the campaign. Includes “They know my work ethic. They know there is absolutely no diva in me.” Continues with McCain sources spilling her ineptness to Fox, and Meg S snarl.
Palin supporters in denial need to be herded into a padded cell and hear this repeatedly. Or would this classify as torture? Enjoy!
The Wasilla Frontiersman newspaper has an article where the town’s residents (all who get quoted) essentially ask “Why can’t you mean people leave Sarah alone?” I wrote a response, but it was too long for acceptance.
Therefore, also, too, I am posting it here (since I took the time to write it).
Here is WHY we cannot just “leave her alone:”
Her pettiness, vindictiveness, lack of judgement, and lack of ethics have wreaked havoc on the citizens of Alaska. Examples include ruining or trying to ruin the lives of: Beverly Wooley, Public Health Division Director, Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan, Wasilla Museum Director, John Cooper, incumbent Mayor Stein, regulator on state oil and gas commission, Rudy Ruedrich and these are just a few of too many to name off of the top of my head.
Anyone who disagrees with her and off with their heads (figuratively).
She does not have the knowledge or intellectual curiosity to understand what the First Amendment means, what a VP does, and even describes the office of the Governor as a “title” rather than a job.
How many people can she be allowed to humiliate, lose their jobs and scar their reputations before we are allowed to NOT just “leave her alone.”
I will leave her alone when she no longer has the power to destroy more lives, and possibly destroy America.
Last 2 Tweets from Sarah… (she’s off “slaying salmon” – you would think she would word this differently, but alas…)
Grateful Todd left fishing grnds to join me this wkend; but now he’s back slaying salmon & working the kids @ the site; anxious to join ‘em!18 minutes ago from TwitterBerry
this is from The Immoral Minority blog……also some quotes from Shannyn to the media who is apparently very interested in her response.
BTW Shannyn will be on Countdown Monday! Look for Scarah to poke the hornet nest again? yet more popcorn? will she sue the network?
http://theimmoralminority.blogspot.com/
“Van Flein said he would need to meet with the Palins before pursuing an actual lawsuit, but Moore says she is ready.”
“Look let’s cut to the chase. The only reason that Palin targeted Shannyn is because she received air time on Hardball with David Shuster on Friday and that pissed Palin off. But now her attack ensures that Shannyn will get even more television time (She will be on Countdown on Monday), and that she can tell her side of the story over and over again. Well done Governor!”
I think it’s very cold hearted that the Palin’s are doing their annual fishing when the Alaskan Natives are facing a food shortage, again. The honorable “christian” governor “server heart” thing for her to do would be donate all those fish to the Native village food banks. Please do one nice thing before you abandon your post.
But I doubt she will, that’s worth $35,000 dollars to her money grubbin heart. And if she doesn’t I think she should be spotlighted and shamed for it. Was fishing in Bristol Bay regulated this year, isn’t every less Salmon in the water, less Salmon for the future?
Someone feel free to correct me if I’m off base here.
Posted earlier about Todd headed back to fishing, but it didn’t post.
She’s headed out to Dillingham. She’ll have a relaxing recovery from her breakdown and giving up her “title”.
She’ll be admired and stroked. They’ll go boating and do some sports fishing and campfires on the beach. She’ll regroup and refocus.
No cell service, no Twitter, no Blackberry. There is internet, so maybe she’ll manage things that way.
Sorry if this is already out here:
From the twits tweets:
“Funny! In the words of my sis:Aren’t the same ones w/fake twitter sites & blogs crying “she’s ‘abandoning’ us” the same ones wishing u gone?about 22 hours ago from TwitterBerry”
Okay – I’ll admit it – I’m conflicted about this. What I really wanted was for her to stop being the tabloid queen, get to work, and be a good governor. That didn’t happen, so I guess I WAS wishing she’d just leave.
Anybody else?
Lori, good post, except I’d leave out any sympathy for Randy Ruedrich. He actually did what she said he did and got a $12,000 fine for his efforts. (The part she never tells anybody is that she was guilty of the same thing – using public resources for political purposes – while mayor of Wasilla.) In any case, he’s still the R party chair, so he didn’t lose much. So much for her abilities as a reformer.
The Bristol Bay fishery has been experiencing many closures for “escapement” – allowing spawning stock to “escape” and make it to their spawning grounds. The closures vary depending on the particular river involved and the cumulative escapement counts. The fisheries that are in serious trouble are those in western Alaska – the Kuskoskwim(sp?) and Yukon rivers, and the specie in most trouble is the King salmon. In the area where Todd fishes – Dillingham – the days they’ve been allowed to fish have looked pretty productive in the counts I’ve seen (and which I now can’t find!).
AKM is at Shannyn Moore’s presser… see comments on the other thread.
As I remember from reading the story last Fall, she sat on the incriminating material for a month before filing the ethics violation – plenty of time to assess the political ramifications/opportunities before filing it. It’s pretty easy now to recognize her resignation and subsequent media show as a “Hey, look at me” moment of political opportunism. Her show of ethics reform as gov isn’t looking very impressive either. lol
Sean Parnell was just on FOX noise with Karl Rove and Huckabee) – Sean repeated all of buttercup’s talking points, from “point-guard tossing the basketball” (HUH? she WALKED OFF THE COURT!) to “costing AK “MILLIONS” of dollars in ethics complaints.” Parnell had NO original thoughts, not one. May as well have been Meg. I have a hopeful theory: Parnell is NOT as dumb as he is appearing today, but is walking on eggshells until Buttercup is gone – lest she “change her mind” and decides Alaskans NEED her to finish her term. I have suspected that she MIGHT change her mind (see the RNC event fiascos) and today Andrew Sullivan is posting same theory. Drama Queen Buttercup, ANYTHING is possible.
Lori, don’t forget the Native affairs director who quit, and the legislative liaison who quit just days away from the legislative session starting in Jan.
who knows how many people she “forced out” of a job for what ever reason she had. It’s pretty much her way or the highway.
Also too, Lori, coming from someone who has had that happen to my spouse, twice! unless you are in a position financially to say screw you, I’ll see you in court, a person usually signs papers waiving legal recourse, takes a severance package and moves on.
They bank on people not able to buck them.
Just checking in with the beautiful Buttercup Nation! Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Barn kitty died this morning after a terrible yesterday that was extremely difficult (15 years here, a drop off.) I am grateful for God’s mercies.
I am so grateful for the hope and intelligence of everyone here; I am comforted and inspired. Swwnbn will not go away quietly, and I am grateful for the friendships and delight I take in reading all the links and posts. What a time, ‘eh. Good times that I don’t think will end, as she will continue to amuse us all; perhaps this the beginning of something BIG! (fingers crossed)
Be careful, MF – we don’t want you getting in trouble too!
To Aussie Blue Sky, yes, “Alaska Ear” really claims to be one of the few to knwo the truth. I think someone should call her to account.
Good luck in finding anyone willing to get that close to Toomey.
I’d believe the Wasilla campaign manager whose interview is on a previous thread. A leopard doesn’t change its spots.
The former Mayoral campaign manager says that Sarah Palin would never run if she was cornered by the authorities (and we already know she loves her some court action) and that Palin’s lust for power is undiminished (i.e. POTUS).
If this is to be believed, it could be a very fat slush fund about to be taken away, or a complete lack of love for the “title” of Governor (we already know she’s never actually done the job of Governor and that she is innately lazy) and the leaving of Alaska behind to pursue big ambitions.
On the subject of ambitions: she has failed every time she has gained any power:
Mayor of Wasilla – recall petition
Chair, Oil & Gas – quit
Governor – quit
I’d never, ever put any store in what Toomey says.
So many great articles out there on the internets tonight! Check this one out.
The comments are great. One person talks about pasting her farewell speech into a word document and try to do a grammar/spell check. LOL! Go and read…very entertaining comments there.
This is incredibly old news, but it was so very funny I’m posting the link for you guys anyway–it’s a Sarah Palin Debate Flow Chart, and it’s hysterical. Kudos to the guy who first developed it over at Ph33r & Loathing:
http://bradleykay.wordpress.com/2008/10/03/sarah-palin-debate-flowchart/
I saw Parnell on Chris Wallace’s show this morning. This guy is obviously just a water boy for Palin. I know that the AK blogs will keep as good an eye on him as they did Palin. Also, read where he is so happy with the people Palin has put in place. He is not planning to replace anyone. Now all this could be his way of trying to keep the waters calm until Palin actually exits stage left.
It appears there will be no down time for you spunky, pesky AK bloggers.
So glad SP is moving on. I just hope she doesn’t move anywhere near me. My guess is that she’ll move to Texas. They do seem to love her down there.
We’ve already got Cynthia Davis, we don’t need SP too.
really.
