Bob Poe on the Eddie Burke Show…

10 07 2009

OK, normally I don’t ever suggest anyone listen to Eddie Burke.  I do sometimes, just so you don’t have to.  But this one intrigued me.  Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bob Poe will be on The Eddie Burke Show today.  In his own words, he will be “challenging Eddie Burke to embrace the post-Palin Alaska.”  Hmmm.

According to his Facebook page, the start time is 3:30 and the end time is 5:00. (4:30-6:00 pacific, 7:30-9:00 eastern)

I don’t know how any human being could survive being in a small closed room with Eddie Burke for an hour and a half, so I’m assuming he may be there for only part of that time.

So, ye who are brave of heart, noble of spirit and iron of stomach…

This is why Rush and Eddie attack the “Moderate Conservative”.

We hold them fiscally and socially accountable…..

Big Slick – count me in. I’m fiscally conservative, but live and let live on the social issues.

Well, I’m impressed with Mr. Poe. He sounds like a reasonable, thoughtful man.

Had to go downstairs and make a sandwich and missed some of the show. Was starving.

The funny thing is that the old Republicans expected their government to only do the things only government could do, to be frugal with their money, and to stay out of their business and personal lives.

They may not have been thrilled to see a public display of affection from gay people, but they didn’t really like that with hetero people, either. What people did in the privacy of their own homes was their business.

How the party got so far from that in the last 20-30 years just baffles me.

I think it’s a good thing Poe was on Burke, get it out there to everyone and attempt to make a difference.

ValleyIndependent and Michigander: Yeppers! And Poe is the voice reason and rationale in the company of an imbecile. I can say that Poe is holding his own! Go Poe!

lolli, it’s over but Poe did alright considering Burke cut him off ‘right and left’. Damn that creep Burke is divisive! Methinks he wants to be a Limpballs mini-me o:

I thought Bob did well and, to go against what so many of you are saying, I thought Eddie gave him a measure of respect. Yes, he interrupted at times, but that’s part and parcel of talk radio. To be honest, this was my first time listening to the show and from everything I’d heard, I was expecting to hear scorn in Eddie’s voice and I wasn’t hearing that. In fact, he gave Bob some points, albeit grudgingly, all the while introducing him to an audience (Eddie’s) that probably wouldn’t be inclined to listen otherwise. If Bob wants to be governor, he can’t just go on friendly interviews and his willingness to go on Eddie’s show made me respect him all the more.

BigSlick, I wish there were more like you! I consider myself liberal. That is very much based on my social values. But I also belive in fiscal responsibility & controlling immigration. Anyhow my point is it is too bad the Republican party has gone so far to the right because it’s impossible to get anything done! We probably need 3 or 4 main parties-I don’t know!!

Is Bob Poe moderate or far left? I wish a Democrat would win there but it seems unlikely with Alaskas demographics.

All I know is Bob Poe became a Democrat in January this year and in 2007 donated $500 to Lisa Murkowski’s 2010 campaign – so I guess he figured himself a Republican in those days ….

As far as I can determine he is heavily into resource development (e.g. Healy Coal) but registered as a Democrat because he doesn’t hate gays and women – and obviously because he thought he would have a better chance as a Democrat.

I’m waiting for some hard policy.

The easy way is only doing interviews with venues that are sympathetic to you (The Palin Way).

But Bob Poe is not afraid of doing interviews with hostile interviewers….It’s the Cowboy Way!

“Keep movin, movin, movin. Though they’re disapprovin, keep them doggies movin, Rawhide!
Don’t try to understand ‘em, just rope, throw, and brand ‘em. Soon we’ll be living high and wide.”

Eddie B. is one big bawlin’ steer….

Ranger Doug is so proud of you. Great job, Bob!

Seems like Eddie’s blood pressure went down measurably once Bob admitted that he owns firearms and hunts.
