Bob Poe on the Eddie Burke Show…

brianbobpoe

OK, normally I don’t ever suggest anyone listen to Eddie Burke.  I do sometimes, just so you don’t have to.  But this one intrigued me.  Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bob Poe will be on The Eddie Burke Show today.  In his own words, he will be “challenging Eddie Burke to embrace the post-Palin Alaska.”  Hmmm.

According to his Facebook page, the start time is 3:30 and the end time is 5:00. (4:30-6:00 pacific, 7:30-9:00 eastern)

I don’t know how any human being could survive being in a small closed room with Eddie Burke for an hour and a half, so I’m assuming he may be there for only part of that time.

So, ye who are brave of heart, noble of spirit and iron of stomach…

    I heard Mark Colavecchio (AM 750) on the radio yesterday with Bob Poe and I swear it sounded like Mark was in love. He kept going on and on about how he “has a good feeling” about Bob. Interesting, since Mark leans pretty hard right these days.

    Travel freeze and sort of hiring freeze and slimming down government

    Gay rights- Burke speculates that proponents of gay rights will have to get petitions signed to get the issue put on the ballot. Sullivan thinks they should have to do the work if they want it voted on.

    Bob is on….has been since about 3:15. He started after the announcement by the AG that Sarah can appoint Craig Campbell as Lite Gov.

    The AG was introduced by Scarah Chief of Staff, Mike Nizick – that guy gushed about how abused Sarah has been and came across like a true sychophant – Merriam Webster defines it thusly : a servile self-seeking flatterer. The synonym is “parasite”. He said he has been a public servant his whole life – you know who he reminds me of? Gollum……ewwwww.

    Bob is speaking really well about AGIA…Eddie is being very respectful for Eddie.

    Eddie Burke cannot compromise on anything. He doesn’t believe in a gray area – everything is black and white…everything is “us” and “them”.

    There’s a caller that is very pro-sarah, and pro-life, and because Bob is a Democrat he can forget about it. And now she is talking about the gasline…

    Another black and white mindset…

    The article in the ADN about Sarah on the talk show in Fairbanks has a couple of awesome comments!

    SuchanutNo Gravatar says:

    A Bob supporter called and talked about what a great guy he is. Eddie asked what the job of the Governor is – Bob talked about leadership, administrative management and didn’t get to the third because Eddie cut him off to take a break. He doesn’t have the intelligence to take the break at the end of a thought – he just interrupted him. What a moron.

    I keep expecting Eddie to rise to the occasion, but he is not capable.

    Phil Munger is somewhere in the list of people waiting to get on…he will have to update us about the rest of this.

    I really can’t take anymore. I am tuning to 650 to see what Andrew Halcro has to say.

    ================================================
    That’s what Rick Sanchez said about Rush Limbaugh, he’s “just” an entertainer, when you meet him Sanchez says “he’s a really nice guy, a really nice guy”.

    I’m sick to death of hate filled rhetoric being referred to as, “opinion”, “entertainment” and “news” aka FOX.

    I was over on Celtic Diva’s site and came across this as part of an article she posted:

    U.S. Criminal Code Title 18 Ch. 113b Para 2331 :

    the term “domestic terrorism” means activities that-
    (A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State;
    (B) appear to be intended-
    (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
    (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or
    (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping;

    and

    (C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.

    This is really food for thought. When you read this who comes to mind?

    Fear and hate are the motto in what remains of the republican party.
    Last Sunday Colin Powell said they they still have a problem with racism and he is correct.

    You know that these are the folks that continue to wear “the hoods”, only now the republicans have given them a public platform.

    There will be another or new consertvitive party come 2012.

    The current party is only 20% of the population so they have died, now they are stinking and they will be buried before 2012.

    I have stated before that I appreciate and respect a conservative point of view.

    That is something you can have discourse with.

    What remains of the republican party, since they sold their soul to the religious wingnuts are a fearful hate filled terrorists.

    That’s correct, they ARE the American terrorists.

    Anyone who watched their convention last year was more than reminded of Nazi Germany.

    I am adding Eddie Burke to the list from my post on DBO.

    Bush, Cheney, Rice , Murdoch with his Fox news, Rush Limbaugh, John McCain and YES Sarah Palin.

    Her “palin’ around with terrorists” remarks, “real America” etc., turned her rallies into dangerous hate fests.

    The Nazi type chant of USA USA USA, kill him, kill him, only brought a smile to her lips.

    It also raised the death threats on Obama considerably according to FBI AND the Secret Service.

    The McCain campaign was well aware AND informed of this by these agencies.

    What did they do? They carried on with more of the same.

    Sarah Palin by legal definition IS a domestic terrorist.

    I gave up at 8:10 (eastern) because of non-stop commercials and I wasn’t sure if Poe was coming back on…..? I thought Burke was disrepectful, constantly cuttng Poe off and pretty much mocking him. Made fun of bringing Alaskans together rather than drawing partylines.
    Bob Poe did stand strong and was intelligent with as much as he managed to get out.

    The funny thing is that the old Republicans expected their government to only do the things only government could do, to be frugal with their money, and to stay out of their business and personal lives.

    They may not have been thrilled to see a public display of affection from gay people, but they didn’t really like that with hetero people, either. What people did in the privacy of their own homes was their business.

    How the party got so far from that in the last 20-30 years just baffles me.

    I thought Bob did well and, to go against what so many of you are saying, I thought Eddie gave him a measure of respect. Yes, he interrupted at times, but that’s part and parcel of talk radio. To be honest, this was my first time listening to the show and from everything I’d heard, I was expecting to hear scorn in Eddie’s voice and I wasn’t hearing that. In fact, he gave Bob some points, albeit grudgingly, all the while introducing him to an audience (Eddie’s) that probably wouldn’t be inclined to listen otherwise. If Bob wants to be governor, he can’t just go on friendly interviews and his willingness to go on Eddie’s show made me respect him all the more.

    BigSlick, I wish there were more like you! I consider myself liberal. That is very much based on my social values. But I also belive in fiscal responsibility & controlling immigration. Anyhow my point is it is too bad the Republican party has gone so far to the right because it’s impossible to get anything done! We probably need 3 or 4 main parties-I don’t know!!

    Is Bob Poe moderate or far left? I wish a Democrat would win there but it seems unlikely with Alaskas demographics.

    ——————————————
    All I know is Bob Poe became a Democrat in January this year and in 2007 donated $500 to Lisa Murkowski’s 2010 campaign – so I guess he figured himself a Republican in those days ….

    As far as I can determine he is heavily into resource development (e.g. Healy Coal) but registered as a Democrat because he doesn’t hate gays and women – and obviously because he thought he would have a better chance as a Democrat.

    I’m waiting for some hard policy.
