Tiptoeing Through the Muck of Alaskan Politics

Tune in to the Shannyn Moore Show!

REMINDER – AKM is offline this weekend. Please read the Comment Guidelines above and keep it classy. Be patient with comments in moderation and don’t repost comments that don’t appear. Try out the Mudflats Forum (side bar) for great discussion on a wide variety of topics. Explore the chat feature (upper right corner of forum) for real-time conversations. Have fun with I Heart Mudflats! Blogging will return on Monday.

If all goes well in blog land, this post will appear about an hour before the Shannyn Moore Show broadcasts on KBYR 700am here in Anchorage. In an impressive display of technological time travel, I am writing this on Friday and setting the little “schedule” feature to do what I call “robo-posting”. But Shannyn is there in real time, waiting for your calls, and reading this live blog.

In case you’ve been hanging out in a cave somewhere, you’ll know that Shannyn has had a bit of a rough week. You can get caught up on the story HERE and HERE. And I have a sneaking suspicion that the Palinistas will be trying to swamp the phone lines to give her grief. So, I know she’d appreciate getting some mudlove from all of you!

Here are the particulars:

The number is 907.274.5297. The toll free number (in state only) is 866 610 5297

Live Streaming HERE.

Place & Time: 700am KBYR, Saturday 5-7pm Alaska time, 6-8pm Pacific, and 9-11pm Eastern.

Please use this thread ONLY to blog about the Shannyn Moore Show. Use an open thread for other comments. Thanks!

thought that popped into my head when I was reading HuffPo today……are SP’s trolls being paid to post? And, if so, is that also being added to the costs listed on her pdf (pdf = pretty darned fraudulant)?

  39. 39
    zyggyNo Gravatar says:

She’s also going over that she didn’t have to make up stuff, and was angry Palin lashed out at her.

  40. 40

Shannyn recapping recent events. Resignation, press release mentioning Shannyn and accusations, etc. Talking about being singled out when so many other people have seriously intended to defame her. Her official stories are more disturbing than the conspiracy theories. People coming out with intentional malicious intent with things defaming Shannyn.

  41. 41

Now she’s talking about grimeypants and the libel article in adn

Palin’s Press release – only saving grace proves beyond a doubt what AK is facing as a new normal – need more respectful dialogue –

Shannynn commenting on new ethics complaint- Process broken – never has filed an ethics complaint
    callers…

  57. 57
    Ripley in CTNo Gravatar says:

Shannyn discussing the newest ethics complaint about Palin being paid for stuff.

She says the ethics system is broken… YaTHINK!?

  58. 58

Supporter of Palin discussing website in WA state – where they don’t have ethics complaint but a different process.

  59. 59

put it on the website –

Shannyn’s talking about where they agree – and she is clarifying that she never mentioned the FBI

  60. 60

  65. 65

Shannyn mentioned that the system in use now was put it to be used against a Democratic gov – now backfiring on Palin

  66. 66
    zyggyNo Gravatar says:

West Virginia guys, if you can’t throw a gov out for firing an employee for personal reasons, then you need to change the laws.

  67. 67

  68. 68
    Seagull Junker PalinNo Gravatar says:

Shannyn – if you are reading – What do you think about Van Flein releasing personal info on person who filed newest ethics complaint???

    THANKS!

  69. 69
    kerryann63No Gravatar says:

while Shannyn might think buttercup has a point, i don’t think buttercup would agree to changes to those darned ethics laws if it’s going to make it easier to fire someone like her.

Van Flein states in the latest ADN article on Palin wanting ethics reform:

“The state is losing the value of some of its expenditures when public servants are pulled away from important assignments to deal with far-fetched and mean-spirited allegations.”

Van Flein should put up or shut up. First and foremost, let’s see some PROOF that Alaska public servants are pulled away from important assignments to deal with “far-fetched & mean spirited allegations”.

Either way Palin looks like an idiot, because either they are lying about the work staff has done or they have no idea how to deal with task assignment of her employees.

  88. 88

Discussion of Constitutional crisis – Good discussion for those who aren’t up on the process – caller saying that Parnell should get to pick his lt gov instead of Palin – Palin wants General Campbell – wants him in – etc. She is explaining it well but a little complicated – slightly…

  89. 89

Theres something fishy about schmith. I wonder if Buttercup asked him to decline.

This is PURE SPECULATION, but is it possible…the person Sarah Palin has endeavored to move out of the Alaska National Guard into the position of Lt. Governor isn’t what or whom we think he is?

I can’t think of any other reason why she’d want a military man in that executive position — not a Republican reason, not a Democratic reason, and not a Libertarian reason. Perhaps…a Alaska Independence Party reason, or worse.

Can’t believe Method’s lack of concern for this, like Mudpup Samper said.

I posted, politicians have died before. Where would that leave the State?? Method shouldn’t be talking politics then as he doesn’t seem all too concerned as to AK — stick to something he knows.

Senator said maybe one day, but then sort of changed during his talk about more days, depending if they try to override the veto. He said they would have to have hearings and it might take more than one day, big to do to override her veto. I don’t know how long hearings would take, but they need 45 members to override the veto, not sure if they have enough leg around to make that decison.

Maybe she knew that and that’s yet another reason why she quit so quickly.

As I have said before, since she created the need for a special session and had violated her contract with Alaskans, it is only fitting that she should have to pay for the costs associated with having to have a special session. This is one time in her life that it should not be an “easy exit” from a job that she is woefully unsuited for.

2008 comments by Joe Schmidt and Craig Campbell. Obviously, they all get along fine.

    Palin Responds to Latest Falsehoods
    Addresses Commissioner’s Comments
July 22, 2008, Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin today strongly denied the latest accusations made by the former commissioner of the Department of Public Safety. The Governor also released details of her schedule outlining her meetings with former Commissioner Walt Monegan.

“Communication has always been paramount in Governor Palin’s administration,” acting Chief of Staff Mike Nizich said. “Commissioners have always had open access to the governor and members of her top staff. It is unfortunate that a former commissioner has deliberately and inaccurately portrayed her as inaccessible.” “I have open communication with Governor Palin and her staff,” Labor Commissioner Click Bishop said. “Anytime I have asked to have a meeting with the Governor, I have been given the opportunity.” “The Governor has made herself available every time I have asked for advice, guidance or support,” Corrections Commissioner Joe Schmidt said. “She’s been one hundred percent supportive, and she’s an excellent listener. Governor Palin never micro-manages and has never interfered with any operation or development of the Department of Corrections.”

“Governor Palin has always been accessible to me,” Military and Veterans Affairs Commissioner Craig Campbell said. “Whenever she or I have had the need to discuss any issue, we have been able to. For those who think that our Governor is not accessible, all you have to see is the hours she and her top staff put in. She is communicating all hours of the day and night. Our meeting and travel schedules are extremely packed, we are very busy; however, I have never had any difficulty communicating with her no matter where I may be. I do not believe that my experience is any different than those of her Cabinet.”

“I have no problems communicating back and forth with the Governor,” Director of State and Federal Relations John Katz said. “Often, this occurs in e-mails between her and me. She is almost instantaneous in her responses. In addition, we communicate at Cabinet meetings, in teleconferences, and when she is in D.C. The reason for these communications is to inform the Governor and to get policy guidance from her on key issues. I find her to be well-informed on federal issues, and she provides the guidance we need in D.C. to advocate the State’s interests.”

I’m beyond the spreadsheets at this point. With the person for Palin’s office noting some mistakes and the statement from Murrow, it all comes down to the point that the eithics complaint charges are a total different issue that the Public Records requests listed on it. Shannon talked about it tonight. As the spokesman for Gov’s Office Murrow said, the people were getting paid anyways. These are numbers that were basically assigned to these departments prior to this.
