If all goes well in blog land, this post will appear about an hour before the Shannyn Moore Show broadcasts on KBYR 700am here in Anchorage. In an impressive display of technological time travel, I am writing this on Friday and setting the little “schedule” feature to do what I call “robo-posting”. But Shannyn is there in real time, waiting for your calls, and reading this live blog.
In case you’ve been hanging out in a cave somewhere, you’ll know that Shannyn has had a bit of a rough week. You can get caught up on the story HERE and HERE. And I have a sneaking suspicion that the Palinistas will be trying to swamp the phone lines to give her grief. So, I know she’d appreciate getting some mudlove from all of you!

I’m here. Trying to figure out just when to light the smoker to cook a brisket, so that it will be ready by 3-4PM tomorrow eastern.
Might have to get up REAL EARLY or start it late tonight and hope for the best whilst I catch some zzzz’s.

“My” website will take you directly to the Washington State State Auditor’s Office hotline – which does quite a bit of ethics work. It’s a good reform.

“The state is losing the value of some of its expenditures when public servants are pulled away from important assignments to deal with far-fetched and mean-spirited allegations.”
Van Flein should put up or shut up. First and foremost, let’s see some PROOF that Alaska public servants are pulled away from important assignments to deal with “far-fetched & mean spirited allegations”.
Either way Palin looks like an idiot, because either they are lying about the work staff has done or they have no idea how to deal with task assignment of her employees.

There’s been a report over the past couple of days that the Southern Poverty Law Center has discovered dozens of personal profiles on a neo-Nazi website where individuals listed “military” as their occupation (see DailyKOS http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/7/11/752421/-SPLC-Attacks-Neo-Nazis-Infiltrating-US-Military ).
This is PURE SPECULATION, but is it possible…the person Sarah Palin has endeavored to move out of the Alaska National Guard into the position of Lt. Governor isn’t what or whom we think he is?
I can’t think of any other reason why she’d want a military man in that executive position — not a Republican reason, not a Democratic reason, and not a Libertarian reason. Perhaps…a Alaska Independence Party reason, or worse.

Joe Schmidt…turned down the position, so she appointed someone else, who it turns out can’t be the acting lt gov because they have to be confirmed, and then Schmidt changed his mind and wanted to take the job, but now he can’t …no confidence from the legislature.
Now it is going to cost over a hundred grand a day to do this special session to fix the problems that Sarah has created

People made plans because there was no expectation of a special session – out of the state, etc. Very optimistic that it could be done before end of July.

The past few legislative special sessions were announced immediately when the regular session banged the closing gavel. How you gonna keep ‘em down in Juneau when there’s perfectly good fishing, hiking, biking, camping, &tc. and no one is in Juneau but the residents and cruise tourists?

The fact the problem could be a Constititional crisis regarding the leadership for the State of Alaska — my response to them would be Suck it Up — in that this far outweighs the regular legislature session. If it may be a 3, 4 or 5 days — tough. Part of the job. They asked the citizens to vote for them.

Look at the bright side. They may make her stay (we all know she wants out) and she won’t be able to collect the advance on her book while still in office. No, I know, zyggy. I’m not an accountant, but I do beautiful easy-to-read spreadsheets for a living. I justify million-dollar projects, line-item’ed to the penny, that an uneducated audience can absorb in a few minutes’ reading, guided by a simple budget narrative. (I actually tried to do that when the spreadsheet came out – couldn’t do it)

It will never look good that $arah resigned so suddenly (and so incoherently) and caused more problems for AK. Even if she can’t turn over her crown @ the picnic and has to delay a few weeks. It looks even worse.

As much as the senator feels she should stay, I think the leg should just get together and go without her. She has caused too many problems already, the leg is smart enough to proceed without her.
The good thing is they get to override her veto on the Stim. funds. 1st order of business.

Senator said maybe one day, but then sort of changed during his talk about more days, depending if they try to override the veto. He said they would have to have hearings and it might take more than one day, big to do to override her veto. I don’t know how long hearings would take, but they need 45 members to override the veto, not sure if they have enough leg around to make that decison.
Maybe she knew that and that’s yet another reason why she quit so quickly.

As I have said before, since she created the need for a special session and had violated her contract with Alaskans, it is only fitting that she should have to pay for the costs associated with having to have a special session. This is one time in her life that it should not be an “easy exit” from a job that she is woefully unsuited for.

July 22, 2008, Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin today strongly denied the latest accusations made by the former commissioner of the Department of Public Safety. The Governor also released details of her schedule outlining her meetings with former Commissioner Walt Monegan.
“Communication has always been paramount in Governor Palin’s administration,” acting Chief of Staff Mike Nizich said. “Commissioners have always had open access to the governor and members of her top staff. It is unfortunate that a former commissioner has deliberately and inaccurately portrayed her as inaccessible.” “I have open communication with Governor Palin and her staff,” Labor Commissioner Click Bishop said. “Anytime I have asked to have a meeting with the Governor, I have been given the opportunity.” “The Governor has made herself available every time I have asked for advice, guidance or support,” Corrections Commissioner Joe Schmidt said. “She’s been one hundred percent supportive, and she’s an excellent listener. Governor Palin never micro-manages and has never interfered with any operation or development of the Department of Corrections.”
“Governor Palin has always been accessible to me,” Military and Veterans Affairs Commissioner Craig Campbell said. “Whenever she or I have had the need to discuss any issue, we have been able to. For those who think that our Governor is not accessible, all you have to see is the hours she and her top staff put in. She is communicating all hours of the day and night. Our meeting and travel schedules are extremely packed, we are very busy; however, I have never had any difficulty communicating with her no matter where I may be. I do not believe that my experience is any different than those of her Cabinet.”
“I have no problems communicating back and forth with the Governor,” Director of State and Federal Relations John Katz said. “Often, this occurs in e-mails between her and me. She is almost instantaneous in her responses. In addition, we communicate at Cabinet meetings, in teleconferences, and when she is in D.C. The reason for these communications is to inform the Governor and to get policy guidance from her on key issues. I find her to be well-informed on federal issues, and she provides the guidance we need in D.C. to advocate the State’s interests.”

I’m beyond the spreadsheets at this point. With the person for Palin’s office noting some mistakes and the statement from Murrow, it all comes down to the point that the eithics complaint charges are a total different issue that the Public Records requests listed on it. Shannon talked about it tonight. As the spokesman for Gov’s Office Murrow said, the people were getting paid anyways. These are numbers that were basically assigned to these departments prior to this.
