Do not panic, folks… but it appears that Lt. Governor Sean Parnell does not…I repeat, does NOT have an active Twitter account. We could be heading to lawlessness and anarchy in four short days! Who’s gonna be running this thing?!
I hope they have an accurate inventory and there is someone to count the silver.
I imagine that truck will be loaded with a lot of those “unreceived” gifts GINO is hoping to “receive” after she isn’t a Governor anymore. Because she thinks then she won’t have to declare them. And really, who is there to make her accountable? If she says there were only X number of gifts and their value only added up to $Y.YY, who is to question her?
Alaskan Bloggers should rule Netroots this year. This is *your* year. You guys took out a corrupt and inept Governor. I hope Netroots asks you guys to give a seminar or something.

I’ve also wondered what Palin could possibly move out, since she never really lived there for any amount of time. Some needs to keep track of the items. I wouldn’t put it past her to take items that don’t belong to her.
I do hope our new Lt. Gov. has a brain which works and isn’t preprogrammed by Palin. He has a chance to actually do well now that Palin is gone. Stand up, speak coherently and make sound executive decisions. I’ll reserve judgement.
I think Ian will make a fabulous delegate. There are several notable young people attending and he will benefit so much from getting to know them.
I’m also pleased that Democracy for America has travel discounts available for others to attend also too.

Yachts don’t exceed the sound barrier in speed yet, so this particular yacht has been making its way toward Alaska for a while now. Maybe after the hysterical resignation speech? Sir Walter Raleigh of the puddle-fame with some sly Faux exploitation hidden under that cape, eh? Pure speculation on my part….although it does occur to me that it would be exceedingly difficult to bug a yacht.
If there were plans regarding XGINO’s “one fish-two fish-dead fish-blue fish”* phase in her quitting-fighting career, one has to wonder if the latest scandal is favoring the dead fish scenario for the King-Maker.

If I were a billionaire who wanted to vacation in Alaska, I know for certain I would deploy all my personal billionaire toys – for security, if for no other reason.

Her twits were hard to make out even before she started the epic multiple-tweet twitter tantrums. Breaking a single sentence (and yes, I use that word loosely here) across two or more posts is confusing. But now she’s doing it mid-word!
What’s scary is that the result actually does make sense [I'm claiming poetic license to make some minor edits to the, er, punctuation]:

HistoryGoddess, I’m not sure what amazes me more, the fact that she doesn’t get that the ethics complaints are about her abuse, not the complainer’s, or the fact that she doesn’t realize that Twitter and its 140-character limit is possibly the worst possible medium for her.
I keep expecting her to start treating it like it’s ancient Hebrew and drop all vowels, spaces, and punctuation, just to get everything she wants to say in there.

This morning’s total twitters: 3 getting herself into more possible legal trouble, if only as evidence for a commitment hearing, and 4 on how she is going to drill the hell out of anything left standing in order to progress the nation against those who hate us. (Maybe a bit of liberty with my translation of the last four, but I have heard it so much that my mind fills in her many blanks.)
AustinTX, I think the guy you mentioned is just some fan. The song “Shuttin’ Down Detroit” is by John Rich, formerly of the country duo Big and Rich. The lyrics she quotes are from their song “Rollin (The Ballad of Big & Rich),” which seems to be about how country music fans should keep an open mind about Rock and Roll. Or something.
Don’t know why she didn’t continue quoting to the part where they sing “Well I’m a crazy son of a b****, but I know I’m going to make it big & rich.” And the parts where they sing about people looking at them like they’re crazy.
She’s now hitting 7 TPH (Tweets per hour). Alaska Volcano Observatory has upgraded Mt. Palin status to alert level ORANGE.

She wants closer to “power”. Alaska is to far away for her, next career move. Also, it gets very expensive to fly out of there, ever few weeks for a speech somewhere in the lower 48, especially now that she doesn’t have the citizens of Alaska, paying for it. She will now have to go on her own dime.

Yeah , when the IRS swoops , it ain’t pretty. Had a friend in the restaraunt business that they went after. Showed up at the crack of dawn with US Marshals and locked down EVERYTHING. Door locks get changed , no one in/out , accts. at bank frozen. They immediately start inventory on items. By 10 am , this guy came up with the 17k they were looking for. Just as fast as they came , they left. About a week later , he got the bill for the lock changes from the local locksmith. They are ruthless when they come down.

In a May 2007 article Sarah said Todd only sleeps one or two hours a night. I’ve read where she said similar about her sleep habits. This is not new, you can only imagine what years of sleep deprivation would do. I first read about their sleep habits before I learned that they lived in the meth capital of Alaska.

@InJuneau: You may be right that Palin bought the used tanning bed herself. (They can cost tens of thousands of dollars.) We have no way of knowing, and I have my own opinions, which involve a sweetheart deal.

Alaska has a very strict ethics law governing public officials. In the case of the governor, the Alaska attorney general, who oversees the state’s Department of Law, enforces the ethics laws.
Judy Bockman, an Alaskan assistant attorney general who administers the states ethics act, says the governor is mandated to disclose any gift exceeding $150 in value if that gift is in anyway connected to her official position or if it is intended to influence the performance of her public duties. And a gift is defined, she says, “as the transfer of property to a public official at less than full value.”
Bockman says she was not aware of Palin’s tanning bed. That fact would seem to indicate that the governor did not list it as a gift, since such disclosures are to be filed with “a designated supervisor,” which in the case of the governor is the state’s attorney general.
Wetherell of the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities confirms that fact as well, indicating that he was informed by the Governor’s Office that Palin purchased the tanning bed “with her own money, so there was no need for an ethics disclosure.”
Wetherell says that Palin bought the tanning bed from a health club, adding that it was not a brand new machine. The fact that the tanning bed was acquired from a business also seems to indicate that it was a commercial model — which can command a hefty price tag as Wiese and Mensik point out.
Wetherell was not able to provide the name of the health club, the model of the tanning bed, nor the price Palin paid for the machine, which means there is no way of verifying, at this point, if Palin did, in fact, purchase it with her own money, and if so, whether she received a discount off market value exceeding $150 in deference to her position as governor.
If, in fact, the tanning bed was donated to Palin or her family, or provided at discount exceeding $150 as a favor due to her position, based on Bockman’s explanation of the state’s ethics law, it would have legally had to appear on her state ethics disclosure filings.
Bockman also explained that it is incumbent on a public official to disclose a gift in any case where that official suspects he or she received special treatment.
“There is an absolute bar against taking any gift that is inappropriate,” she says.

Speaking of her tweets (forgive me if someone already mentioned this) but this a.m. there was an article on twittering (Yahoo). Guess who was mentioned? Not in a good way either. I think someone needs to tell her that she just makes herself look more ridiculous & she should just cut out the tweeting.

Any info on if/when Hays Research will be releasing another poll? Given Palin’s falling-off-the-cliff popularity rankings, how could Parnell think that “keeping Palin’s legacy alive” not to mention keeping the same staff and appointments is going to endear him to Alaksan voters?
