Open Thread – The Missing Lynx
The other day, after Spouse left for work, he called me and said, “Bring your camera when you leave. There are two lynx just walking down the road!” I figured for sure by the time I got there, 10 minutes later, they would be long gone. But to my surprise, there was a lynx, hanging out in someone’s yard. Of course the best picture of him was the one with the lovely silver tarped mystery object in the background. That pretty much kills the whole “Alaska wilderness mystique” vibe, but what a gorgeous creature! I never did see the other one, but one was good enough for me!

Wow! Lovin’ the lynx! A little bit of a scary face though…(o:
What a beauty!
Maybe the lynx is protecting his stash that is under his tarp.

Magnificent looking animal. A little thin but stunning, thank you AKM for sharing.
Here, kitty kitty…
Just love that picture! I have only once seen a lynx and they are so lovely.
I think they look like hybrid animals and a little scary. Maybe it’s the chin hair.
Wow! Not only getting to see a lynx in the wild, but being able to photograph it is really cool. The one moose I saw in NW Massachusetts occurred just after I had snapped the last picture on my camera’s roll of film.(Did get to watch for a long time though.) I did see a big bobcat in my backyard/woods while walking with 3 friends. Only 2 of us saw the bobcat; the other two were emptying their bladders around the corner and never saw it.
Cool !! My cat’s name is “Lynx”. He only answers to “Here kitty” though.
The mystery silver tarp doesn’t take away from the wilderness experience; I think it adds to it.
It’s one thing to see a picture of a magnificent wild animal in the middle of nowhere. It’s quite another to see the same animal in picture that might very well be your backyard. Just a reminder that wild animals don’t respect property lines.
Maybe the lynx buried an unnamed, almost not politician, politician under that tarp?
Maybe the lynx is checking out the status of his TARP funds…

Thank you for that. Being from central PA I have seen this all too often. Every gay kid (boys I should say, the girls seem to do okay as ‘jocks’) in my daughters school dropped out. A friends gay relative -a young man rejected and ridiculed because of his ‘gayness,’ just od-ed a few months ago. This rejection of a whole section of our population is horrific and so damaging.
And sadly, the main rejection is, again, from the Republican Christian right.

Great pic of the lynx! Seems a little scrawny. The look on it’s face and the pic seems like a mirror to Sarah. Slinking away from all the stuff she is hiding under that tarp and shocked that we found her redhanded in action, but arrogant enough look, like I was just passing through and know nothing people!
I wonder if Bristol claimed all the gifts she received on her taxes or could Sarah have claimed her and put all those gifts on her IRS forms?
Sooner or later and I hope it is sooner things will catch up to Sarah. She will piss of the wrong people and her dirty laundry will be laid out.

Report: 2 Mayors Held In NJ Corruption Case
Deputy Mayor Also In Custody
POSTED: Thursday, July 23, 2009
UPDATED: 9:46 am EDT July 23, 2009
The mayors of two New Jersey cities and a state legislator were arrested Thursday as part of a major corruption and international money laundering conspiracy probe.
Federal prosecutors said about 30 people have been arrested in the two-track investigation. They include Assemblyman Daniel Van Pelt, Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano III and Secaucus Mayor Dennis Elwell. Federal prosecutors said several rabbis in New York and New Jersey were also arrested.
CNN reported that Jersey City Deputy Mayor Leona Baldini also was in custody. Police said they were scheduled to be arraigned in federal court in Newark, N.J., on Thursday.
WNBC-TV in New York showed images of the mayors of Hoboken and Secaucus being taken into FBI headquarters in Newark.
New Jersey radio station 101.5 FM reported that the sweeps were taking place in Hudson, Bergen, Monmouth and Ocean counties.
The stations said the probe centers on money-laundering and political bid rigging.
A news conference was scheduled for noon EDT at the U.S. attorney’s office in Newark.
No other information was immediately available.

From NJ here – we have our own type of crooks and nutcases in our state too – I’m working hard to make sure we keep our govenor in office and keep out the Republican crook who is running against him in the election. Who knows maybe I’ll have to start a NJ blog.
Intertesting tidbit about Sarah Palin over on Palin-gates – Palin claims to have known nothing about the legal fund, yet how did know all the names and addresses of those who contributed so she could send out handwritten thank you notes – either Palin is lying or some one is forging her signature – which means all those folks drooling over the handwritten notes have fake signatures and someone needs to go to jail for pretending to be Palin
http://palingates.blogspot.com/2009/07/uperarah.html
I’m hoping the media or someone starts questioning Sarah about it soon — it would be interesting to see how she spins that – would she admit she lied (no way) or would she disappoint all her adoring fans by telling them the notest they have are fake and they were scammed
That witch is bragging about listening to a song called, “Shuttin’ Detroit Down”.
I’ve never heard it, but the title indicates anti-Detroit.
I want to do something very bad to her for even twitting such a thing or having the audacity to even MENTION Motown in a derogatory way.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrr!
Great article by Media Matters on the ‘factuality’ of Time’s Renegade article on Palin. It points out all the unchallenged and falsely reported & stated claims of Palin. It is a must read.
http://mediamatters.org/columns/200907180004
On Monday, Eric Boehlert highlighted Time’s upcoming cover story on Sarah Palin, titled, “The Outsider: Where is Sarah Palin Going Next?” While Palin has certainly received her share of bad press, a great deal of it has been the inevitable result of her own statements and actions. Interpretive articles like this one, however, are different and provide journalists with the chance to use their judgment to put past actions and ongoing trials in a broader context that will help readers better understand the subject at hand.
Which is why this article is so problematic. In it, Time’s David Von Drehle and Jay Newton-Small go to immense lengths to create a story out of thin air. In this case, it’s “The Renegade,” a tale about an unconventional politician making waves with her unpredictable behavior. The piece is deeply flawed, advancing conservative narratives without challenge and ignoring obvious realities about Palin, her home state, and the problems she faces. It’s an account that flies in the face not just of progressive criticisms of the governor, but of a growing chorus of conservative ones as well.
And it is exactly the kind of ratings-driven journalism that is, ironically, making magazines like Time less and less authoritative at a time when serious journalism couldn’t be more needed.

re NJ arrests
According to MSNBC just now, there may be something about involvement in black market organs (for transplant). There’s not enough info on that yet, but this could actually shove Buttercup out of the limelight.
Oboy.
Samper, relax, google the lyrics – it’s not anti-Detroit. It’s about how unfair it is for the federal government to be bailing out the banks while not doing anything to bail out the auto industry or to bail out homeowners facing foreclosure or to, I don’t know, extend unemployment benefits or subsidize pensions and by the way what about the farmers. A little out of date now and a little off-message, but hey, wotthehell, it “resonates.”
I find these lines from the song particularly appropriate for Sarah:
“You work hard for your dollar and you never pass the blame,
When it don’t go your way.”
Now I see all these big shots whining on my evening news,
About how they’re losing billions and it’s up to me and you
To come running to the rescue.”
Sarah would never, never whine on the evening news about how much money she’s losing and how it’s up to these poor citizens who are scraping by without heat in the hard Alaskan winter to save up their $5 bills (used and unmarked, please) to send in to rescue her from all those legal bills which are not, I repeat NOT due to anything SHE has ever done, oh NO, it’s the fault of all those Democrats and bloggers and OBAMA who are all out to get her because they can’t take the fact that she is just PRETTIER than they would EVER DREAM TO BE. So THERE!
Interesting bit from Shannyn about where the ‘leak’ may have originated…
http://shannynmoore.wordpress.com/2009/07/23/palin-info-leak-unleash-the-palinistas/#comment-7534
Why HASN’T any adversary of Van Fleabag jumped up and offered Kim free representation in any suit for defamation against Von Phlegm et al? They should seek monetary DAMAGES of $1.00… and get all the PRINCIPLE publicity they can! It would be refreshing at least to see them forced to withdraw. My little contribution post follows…
“I heard the term ‘defamation’ tossed around a bit in favor of Kim Chatman. Will she be seeking legal counsel in order to put Van Fleabag back in his place? Seems as though she has a pretty good case here, but the time to act would be now, before all parties hit the proverbial road. She should ‘demand satisfaction’ as they used to say in the days of dueling! If, in fact, it was a member of the EB who let the cat out of the bag, no doubt that individual may be having a fit of conscious. Or may just be doing all they can to save their own arse! Yes, they would be canned, but the interviews, the quotes, the tell-all book deal must look as lucrative to them right now as it does to her ‘ness. Can’t say I would blame them. To quote a line from a movie… ‘there is no black… there is no white… there is only green… and it’s all about gettin’ yours!’
Just sayin’ “
Also, too, the lyrics she actually quoted are from a different song by Big & Rich which is in essence about how country music types can rock out too and how people look at them like they’re crazy but someday they’re going to be BIG and RICH so f*** off, losers. Or something like that.
Interesting choice, I thought.
Disclaimer: I don’t actually listen to contemporary country music. Google is my friend.
$arah has been tweeting about writing her farewell speech. She doesn’t have to go to all that trouble. She can dust off that nice speech she wanted to give early last November– the one that John McCain wouldn’t let her deliver. Change a few names and dates and it should be fine.
Hi Mudflatters,
I’m a dedicated reader of AKM’s blog and a somewhat infrequent poster.
Anyway, this summer I am hard at work trying to get a young man named Anthony Woods elected to Congress in CA’s 10th Congressional District. We are having a special election on Sept. 1 because our rep., Ellen Tauscher, left to take a job in the state dept. He is running a brilliant campaign and yet faces an uphill climb against some established Sacramento types who are sitting on hoards of cash.
If you, like me, are officially feeling covered in a toxic film because of SP and Ordinance 64, I invite you to wash it away by visiting http://www.anthonywoodsforcongress.com, or checking him out on Facebook.
Tony is a decorated Iraq war veteran who was released from the Army under “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” He is a graduate of West Point and Harvard and I truly believe he is the strongest candidate on foreign policy, veterans affairs and healthcare (he lacked insurance until he was 18 and health care reform is at the top of his platform). He has received much media coverage, centering around DADT and the fact that he is day, but really that is just one small part of his story.
We are going to launch a feature on his FB page soon detailing how folks outside the district can help spread the word about his candidacy.
If you made it all the way through this post, thank you!
Writing her farewell speech herself? Again? Ugh, this should be Soooo good (but not grammatically or any such type kind of thing, like, also, though, then, okay, head tilt, wink).
Can someone post a list of the tweets? I am not a twitterer. Or whatever you call it, also, though.
I am most curious, does anyone know if she will be playing the flute?
That is fabulous marzapane.
Just a quick question as to whether or not you have gotten him exposure on DailyKos. They are great at working to get good people elected and can help get national coverage. Kos can anyhow if he takes up a cause and whether conservatives like it or not, Washington and States, pay attention to DailyKos.
Huffington Post is a good outlet too, although I think DK would be better on working towards an election.
Best of luck.
Well, I woke up to all sorts of wondrous things going on in Palin world.
Great work by all of the puppies on finding the information proving Palin’s active participation in the AFT.
I understand that this is damage control by Cole and Van Flein, but they are probably doing More damage to Palin at this point than the leaked document did.
According to Andrew Halco the investigation moves to information gathering and there is just so much information to be gathered. Maybe they should just check here and compile a list of interviews, documents, etc, much simpler for them.
I too recommend that Chatman retain legal council for her protection. There has to be some good lawyers left in Alaska who haven’t tied themselves to the Palin skirts.
What a way to start the day and did I mention that EyeOnYou has the most wonderful images of handwritten notes by Sarah Palin thanking those who contributed to her AFT. Oh what a day.

Scarah, Scarah, Scarah……..how do you expect to get away with lies?
Do her cult members really believe she has “nothing” to do with the Legal Defense Fund? Do they think she is telling the truth? Is this woman an honest Christian?
It sounds like “intent” to benifit to me, and don’t forget, the Legal Defence Fund is advertised on Scarahpac web site, further proof of “intent” to benifit.
Hand written thank you notes? how “uninvolved” of her, not, lol
Why doesn’t the media do their homework? Oh you whoooo, MEDIA, lookie over here!
“Donation prompts hand-written Palin thank you
When Alaskan Mark Bowers made his donation to the Alaska Fund Trust, he didn’t expect to receive a hand-written thank-you note from Gov. Sarah Palin. But the governor so appreciated his gift to the legal defense fund that she sent him a very personal note of thanks. Sarah’s Web Brigade has the full story.
Update: As our commenters have reported, Gov. Palin is apparently hand-writing thank-you notes to many, if not all, donors to the legal defense fund. All the more reason to make your $150 contribution now. Someday you can show your grandkids that the first woman to be elected president of the U.S. sent you a personal message “back when.”
Cool pic….Thanks AKM..Have a good day..:)
BahstinBoyo, Paula – I got lost and thought I was on open thread commenting in regards to Chatman, oops! Anyway, yes, I have been trying to comment all over the place. I really feel for this poor woman so here’s hoping she realizes how many care and wish her the best.

Found this online this morning and thought it was very interesting:
Criteria for Manic Episode
A. A distinct period of abnormally and persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood, lasting at least 1 week (or any duration if hospitalization is necessary).
B. During the period of mood disturbance, three (or more) of the following symptoms have persisted (four if the mood is only irritable) and have been present to a significant degree:
inflated self-esteem or grandiosity
decreased need for sleep (e.g., feels rested after only 3 hours of sleep)
more talkative than usual or pressure to keep talking
flight of ideas, or subjective experience that thoughts are racing
distractibility (i.e., attention too easily drawn to unimportant or irrelevant external stimuli)
increase in goal-directed activity (either socially, at work or school) or psychomotor agitation
Thanks for the info on Anthony Woods. I just donated to him and I hope he wins.

Can we just let Gay people be full citizens and move on already!!!
Well, after seeing Bristol’s handwriting and Sarah’s real handwriting on anther document, (over at Palingates) I am convinced Bristol has been writing all the notes, and then the Queen just has to put her signature on them. Is this how Palin gets around saying she had and has nothing to do with the Alaska Fund Trust? Someone is providing a list of donors to SOMEONE. Bristol may be writing those in what little free time she has after watching 2 infants.

13. RealityKingJuly 23rd, 2009 11:09 am ETLiberals are afraid of Sarah because their little girls admire this traditional lady for all the right reasons. She’s able to bring home the bacon, fry it up in the pan and still not let her husband forget that he’s a man. She IS indeed three times anything the progressively liberal agenda has to offer..
Curiouser, lol, I didn’t write that, it’s what I copied and pasted. It’s floating around the web sites, “eyeonyou” has been rounding up and posting these Scarah thank you notes.

That page is full of lynx that appear to confirm significant deception.
So we’ve come to a place where it’s been demonstrated conclusively that government officials are not accountable to its citizens and constituents.
We’ve entered a whole new dimension of unapologetic government corruption – out in open and in your face. At least Senator Stevens paid us the compliment of hiding it.
This matter has entered the realm of ‘whistle-blowing’ and retaliation on individuals.
It’s time for several things to happen ~
1. Citizens with the courage to file complaints – complaints that we all believe to be righteous and justifiable – need to be supported. They’re holding the burden privately in the best interest of all of us.
Kim Chatman needs an attorney. Right away.
2. Clearly, the Personnel Board and the process cannot address this. Time to litigate. It’s very clear. This needs to go up a level. Separate from whether or not Kim Chatman continues the process.
3. A watchdog/citizen action organization needs to be formed for the protection and support of citizens who undertake these things. To ensure the right to due process and an absence of retaliation.
I’ll donate immediately and support in whatever way I can.

Last night, President Obama addressed the nation in a primetime press conference about health insurance reform.
The President made crystal clear what’s at stake in this debate: the fiscal well-being of our nation and the health of our families and small businesses.
In case you missed it, take a look at what he had to say:
Truth be told — with each passing day, more and more Americans are unable to get the health care they need, when they need it. Skyrocketing co-pays and deductibles and soaring insurance premiums are crushing our family budgets and small businesses. Unless we act now, these problems are guaranteed to get worse and worse.
Under reform, American families will get the stability and security they deserve. They’ll no longer have to fear losing health care coverage if they lose or switch jobs, going bankrupt if they become seriously ill, or being denied coverage because of a pre-existing medical condition. Reform will ensure all Americans have access to quality, affordable insurance.
We all have a stake in this and for the 14,000 Americans who are losing their health insurance each day — reform can’t wait.
Make sure everyone you know understands the importance and urgency of health insurance reform: Watch the President’s remarks and forward this email to your friends and family.
Thank you,
David Axelrod
P.S. Health insurance reform is a complex issue and many of you have questions about what it means for you and your family. To help get you the answers you need, White House Health Reform Director, Nancy-Ann DeParle, is holding a live video chat through Facebook and WhiteHouse.gov. Join the chat today at 3pm ET.

$arah has been tweeting about writing her farewell speech. She doesn’t have to go to all that trouble. She can dust off that nice speech she wanted to give early last November– the one that John McCain wouldn’t let her deliver. Change a few names and dates and it should be fine.

Donation prompts hand-written Palin thank you
http://texas4palin.blogspot.com/2009/05/donation-prompts-hand-written-palin.html

Kinda cool to get ‘em , huh ??
First Lady sent me a Fathers day greeting. Now that made me feel REAL cool.
Of course 50 bazillion others got one too……….
Not only are they not accountable to their citizens, it seems to me that people like Sanford should be thrown out of office, not asked to step down. We allow them to hang on to their office, usually with some sort of ‘oops’ or ‘sorry, I’ll do better’. As Reps and Dems we have been taking sides against each other as if it is a sport; we bring down a political figure only to run off to the next fight, forgetting the game is not over till the gavel comes down. So when people tell me she is toast, move on, I disagree. I want to see this to the end- guilty or not (yeah, right) this can’t fade away in favor of the next big scandal.
ps again, you guys are GREAT
Finally–she gets to make her concession speech.
She’s been waiting for months for this.
Maybe that’s why she quit.
after slipping through some of the slime on TwitterCeeFourPee they were so inspired by the webathon they’ve moved on to a follower-athon. Encouraging people to get AKGov’s followers number over 110,000. Sure enough they managed to freep that too. One comment from the enlightened ” Take that obarbs” and yet I got the biggest Smile when I headed over to the cool prez’s page and saw this …. BarackObama on twitter : Followers 1, 806,994
The Competition just doesn’t know what it’s up against. hahahaha
Also too I’d check those “handwritten” thank you note against Bristol’s handwriting … since she sent thank you’s for Trig’s presents. just sayin’
Oh nuts, just occured to me: Cole said SP hasn’t GOTTEN one penny from the fund.
She didn’t say Van Flein hadn’t gotten any money from the fund.
Now, us normal people know that that makes no difference: The bills are in her (and Todd’s I presume) name. Even if someone pays on their behalf, with no actual ‘pennies’ going through the Palin bank account, she has benefitted by that amount.
This, if true, would account for John Coale and M. Carlson’s assertions that moneys have been paid out, and for Van Flein continuing to work for her.
Seriously, who keeps working for someone if they are not getting paid? At some point you must say “give me money now or I stop working for you”.
And if the book advance amount is as big as rumored, if I was Van Flein and I knew she got it, I’d say “Hey lady, you owe me. Pay me now. Figure out how to get money out of the AFT later, but pay what you owe, or I quit workin’ for you”.

“Certainly as governor, her style was in leading the public,” Balash said. “More so than leading the government.”
And if you want big changes, like the ones Palin pushed through on oil and gas, public support is a potent weapon.
“When she really wanted to use her abilities to promote an agenda, she knew how to do it,” Dave Donaldson, Alaska Public Radio Network Capitol Correspondent, said.
Donaldson is a veteran of Alaska politics and says Alaska has never had a governor who could turn on the charm like Palin.”

I like this photo of a thank you note $arah (allegedly) wrote to a Alaska Trust Fund donor: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3518/3748827459_aba146d6cd.jpg?v=0
And then pair up that image with this statement:
“The Governor is not and was not involved with the Trust. The Governor has never worked on or with the Trust. The Governor has not even accepted or requested one penny from the Trust or quite frankly anything of me.”
Wow, the hypocrisy is mind blowing.

Charm does not = substance, intelligence, ability to govern or anything much.
An innocent baby can charm just about anyone and no one would elect it to run a state or country. Give me a grumpy, taciturn, effective governor ANY day over a spaced out overtwitting “charmer”.Donaldson should be dissing her for her charm instead of seeming to praise it.

Has anyone else thought there would be more national coverage of this latest SP news? It has been reported but the latest articles searching on google are of Kristan Cole and Sarah’s denials and google is also showing a sharp drop off of sources covering this story …For months the slightest craziness of Sarah brought tons of media coverage and now that there is something with real teeth it’s seems like they are almost willing to let it go. I hope Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow will do some digging.
@ Terpishore … I do believe she also said her Lawyer had not received any pennies either however if he receives a salary and his firm was paid – well there ya go.

Hamlet: You can add 2 more reservations.
Kalena…I agree but I’m almost happy that she’s not in the news. However, when I read the (positive) piece about her on CNN today my blood boiled. I think the MSN is bending over (backwards?) trying not to appear (unfairly) critical of her–even though she deserves most of the negative press that she receives. If you think about it, it wasn’t long after her resignation speech that the media tide began to turn in her favor.
If the media does not cover much about this latest news but does cover her official leaving ceremony at the picnic in a positive light then we’ll know that teflon Palin’s victim act has served her well.
I’ve seen elk and even bear in the mountains here. On camping trips, my father used to tell me about hunting bear and moose in Alaska when we lived there for a few years – but I was just a baby and we moved back down before I could even read and write.
Even though I don’t hunt anymore, I always thought it would be cool to see wolves or big cats like they have in Alaska….we get coyotes, skunk, sometimes raccoon, and lots of deer, but no big predators. Not here.
Well I got my chance without the travel. Since just before the 4th we’d been having numerous cougar sightings and the skunks and coyotes around here were literally disappearing. Even my squirrels are gone and haven’t come back….
Then about two weeks ago the cougar came into my back yard via the city park next door.
My Rotties are named Thor and Loki and thus think they are immortal — they cornered and attacked the big cat and got pretty badly cut up by his razor sharp talons. We were lucky they weren’t both killed. Loki almost lost a leg, and Thor required just shy of 150 stitches across his chest and ribs. Loki had two bite punctures on his head and neck.
I heard noises and went out back quickly but had no time to get and load a gun once I saw what was happening. I was very lucky to have a string of 100 firecrackers right there and a butane wand next to the BBQ set – I lit it and threw it into the fray just as Thor leapt straight onto the cat and received two upward kicks from the cougar’s hind-claws. He was lucky it hit his chest at an angle or he’d have been gutted instantly.
The firecrackers backed the dogs off and the cat got away over the cedar-plank fence. About 2 minutes later my neighbor shot the cat dead as it was hiding under his deck. It’s a shame the cat had to die, and in a way I wanted it to get away. If I had a gun I would have shot but I’d probably have hit Thor also – I was damn lucky to have those firecrackers handy! And we are luckier still to find out there is no rabies to worry about. That cat was BIG, my Thor is 140 lbs of lean Rottie but the cat was bigger.
We’re on the very edge of town and there is a deep forest that begins about 300 yards away that I used to wander in constantly as a child, never fearing anything at all, so this was a huge shock. In the 100 years or so my family has been in Oregon I am the first to ever see a cougar up close and personal.
I wish it had been on better terms.
Tealwomin: Perhaps Palin’s Indian name would have been “She who has lying fingers”.
OMG, I know what you mean about happy she’s not in the news BUT I want her stopped and to be held accountable for her actions. I don’t want her to ever be able to have a national platform to spew her BS and hatred. If this is swept under the rug I’ll be livid!
The Thank you cards seem to prove without a doubt that $arah was involved and had a connection to the AFT. No denying that. And on last nights thread on the AFT ( around post # 371) someone had looked at and compared the handwriting to Bristol.
In between naps with Trig and Tripp it makes sense that $arah would be telling Bristol she needs to sign these cards so the money keeps coming in. She saw how the Palin-bots just fawned all over the very first ones she sent out and the Beg-a Thon site even did stories about the ‘ Fans ‘ receiving them. The fans LOVED them.
Textbook ” Grifter 101″ work… once you identify the ‘ Mark ‘… keep them on the hook and keep reeling in the dough.
I have no doubt that $arah pulled Bristol into the game here. And maybe the fight that Gryphen referred to about a week before the quit speech between $arah and Bristol was related to this. Maybe Bristol might have a conscience and said no more. Especially if she was reading some of these donation letters with money from little old ladies giving them Her last $5. I don’t think Bristol has as cold a heart like $arah. Don’t you think she would be touched..? You would had to have read the stories so you would know the names of the people so you could personalize it… Right?
Maybe Gryphen knows more about the ‘ fight ‘ now from his source and knows if this is part of the story.
Kalena…I feel the same. I don’t want her on the national scene in any way shape or form. There are enough nutters on Fox to encourage the crazies and there are too many on conservative radio to list. Mr. faux Independent Lou Dobbs is borderline too. Adding Palin to the mix will only add fuel to the dangerous right wing fire that is sparking. Then of course there is the political arena where members of the GOP still sing her (manufactured) praises.
It is wonderful to contribute on blogs such as this and share thoughts and information. But singing from the same hymn sheet is only part of the solution. Hopefully we’ve all also written to our legislators and encouraged an impeachment vote….
OMG @ 114 –
I’m thinking it may not be such a bad thing that the MSM is bending over backwards to be positive about her. Remember how Obama/Biden kept setting the bar really high for her by their comments? If the media is positive, she has to meet that bar. Also, positive media attention works to diffuse the effects her abiding victim act. She’ll get fewer sympathy votes, or votes from people who hate negative media.
Of course, all those pesky bloggers are the ones who really bug her. lol.
Just read the CNN article on Palin. The writer is in love with Palin and writes how amazing she is and how she’ll turn it around because people love her. He touched one paragrah (couple of sentences) on her ethics complaints and the rest is a flattering article. Blah..
why does Meg, works directly for Scarah, have access to Scarah’s AFT amounts if not to keep Scarah informed. We are expected to believe Scarah has no information on the Fund? like Meg, longtime best friend Kristen, her personal Lawyer, none of them ever spoke with Scarah about this, lol, what a crock of BS. When months ago Scarah herself said they’d talked about it, knew it was the solution and that it was going to have to happen.
so Cole can “say” she hasn’t “spoke” with Scarah because she is speaking to Meg. Can Meg or her lawyer say they have not shared information with the gov over a Fund she has been begging for help at every opportunity by over and over bringing up the legal debt problem. She’s publized this every time she’s opened her mouth, so has, her administration, Meg, Smurk radio, the pro-palin web sites, Ziegler, Fox news and many magazines.
It’s quite masterful if you think about it. I’ll give her that much. Free world wide begging over and over. Reminds me of the world wide free Arctic Cat advertising.
And Cole said when she was asked, she said yes, did we find out who asked her?
And when Scarah says she hasn’t taken a dime from the Fund, well no, it hasn’t gone into Scarah’s pocket, but probably into someone elses pocket, since it can go practically all directions possible. Don’t forget Kristan Cole has experience funneling money in round about ways, so does her mother but she got caught. When Kristan says she’s had no requests, lol, it could be because she’s the one that gets to decide when and how much goes out and to whom. I guess a legal bill wouldn’t have to be considered a “request”.
I can’t wait till the emails are made public, then the real truth will come out. Can’t wait till this Fund is gone over with a fine toothed comb. And how is that Dairy loan coming along? Is anyone auditing and keeping on top of that? How’s the dairy biz these days, making money? keeping things legal? no more dumping? inspections okay? (don’t forget the waste management co had to be shut down by the feds)

#83 Say No – I have the complete web page saved. Have a lovely worry free vacation.
There do seem to be a few articles in the MSM that are ‘going against the tide’ of popular sentiment regarding Palin. The authors of these articles seem to imply that they know something about Palin that no one else knows, and they’re letting us in on the secret.
Personally I think they are only deluding themselves, or they really have not done their research on how truly nuts this woman is.

I read some comments from the ‘fans’ about how to preserve those thankyou cards, it was quite sad. Everybody was gushing over the fact that she wrote them herself. One mentioned that it would become an heirloom from the first woman president in America. Ha, I feel so high school even writing this…
PITTSBURGH AKMudstock…I’m working up a plan to be two places at the same time. I really want to be there! Heck, it’s only 3.5 hours from me. I hope, I hope, I hope we can make it!!!! Thanks for coordinating this HamletsMill!
#86 Writing – No, the lyrics she quoted aren’t by Charlie Rich, who was popular in the ’70s. Still – Behind Closed Doors – funny!
Big & Rich is a Country duo; one half of the duo, John Rich, was on the Country charts recently with “Shuttin Down Detroit” (she got the title slightly wrong). B & R also do a song “Rollin” that Palin quoted in her twitter-tantrum this morning.
Linda Kellen’s new post is GREAT:
http://divasblueoasis.com/diary/741/palin-van-flein-and-their-unethical-spin-about-ethics-part-iiexplaining-the-report
If Miss Wasilla has to admit to her fans that she really didn’t sign those thank yous and had no idea what she was thanking them for anyway……LOL….and she has to say this or it sure looks like she KNEW about the fund.
Here is something to keep in mind. Palin need not have actually received money from the AFT to have profited from it. If any money was paid out on her behalf to anyone associated with her, then it constitutes “profiting from”. Which means that there will need to be an audit of the account to find out where money has gone, what has been taken in, etc.
Only if the account has not been touched since inception, other than payments for administering the account itself, does Daniel’s recommendation work. They will have to show that to be proved innocent of profiting from the fund.
If money has been paid out, then Daniel said his opinion is that she is guilty of unethical conduct and profiting from her position. In which case, the PB will have to issue a finding and if guilty then forward to AG, who decides if it falls under criminal behavior.
It seems to be a long process, with this report being the first part of it.
Even when she is no longer Governor, that account will be frozen and if it isn’t then a court order will be needed to do so. (shouldn’t be too hard, either for the state to do, or a civil lawsuit would do it)
Quoting from Coale’s own statement that money has been paid out for bills makes the audit a necessity.
Notice that Cole was careful to say that Palin had received not a dime from the fund. She didn’t say who else had.
This is going to be a long summer gang.
Two things I want to see on Monday:
1) SP’s unfiltered tweets. How low can she go?
2) Info on the Tennessee email hacker court case, the one SP sent tweets about just before she quit.
Lilybart: Yup, that’s a perfect catch-22 scenario. My guess is that she’ll still throw her fans under the bus and say she never signed them (thus rendering their signed cards more or less worthless).
Thanks everyone, for the kind words and donations for Anthony Woods.
Pacos Gal,
you are right, he isn’t represented very well on DKos. I’m intimidated by that site because it seems like it’s easy to make a mistake with your diary and get called out by everyone. Maybe someone should really look at the frivolous complaints that were tossed out. There maybe some merit to the case. Daniel sounds like he was trying to save Sarah’s butt. If an outside Investigator came to Alaska, the outcome will not be the same. Sarah and her gang would be wearing orange jumpsuits.

I just made a foray over to Twitter accts for Cole, Fry, and Eddie Burke, and found that they are mobilizing for a big showing at the send off picnic. Burke is even offering to put people up at his house. Also saying national media will be in attendance. If so, a proper Mudpuppy farewell would be a good thing.

Anyone in Fairbanks that could make sure the homeless shelters were made aware of this picnic? They should be the first in line at the Governor’s picnic.
Sarah at least has an opportunity to display her excellent food service skills. I had a friend that just has to be on the same drugs as this Governor. Identical symptoms….they could be paternal twins separated at birth.
If you had stuck around a few minutes longer, you might have got an extraordinary photograph! Mooses often hide themselves under silver tarps (it sure looks like there is one under there) and emerge suddenly to attack and eat lynx, cougars, or even, when annoyed, polar bears. More than likely, your presence spooked him (or, there may have been several, they often hunt in packs). Mooses may be fierce top carnivores, but they are also very self conscious about their looks.
dear mudpeeps. all this sarah all the time is boring. palin is finished as a viable candidate. we can deal with her and her antics as subtext to what mudflats is truly about. right now our potus needs us to pay attention and act. unless you are very wealthy or are a politician or like me retired with a very good medical insurance policy, you need to step up now. i don’t want to hear about how disappointed you are with obama. if the only thing you have done is to vote for the man and have not backed his play by calling or writing your senators and representatives on health care and education, then shut the pluck up. everyone who owns a small business or works for one one or spends more than 300 dollars a month for insurance and then finds out they won’t cover you or your loved ones, need to get your rear-ends in gear…b

A successful diary needs substance and content. Make sure there is lots of info and that you write a great intro paragraph and include the donation link.
Don;t forget a snappy headline so people click into the diary, very important.
I will read and reccomend!
I just read Phil Mungers post about the local Media (Newspaper and TV )is so far behind on the AFT case compared to what the blogs were able to expose as lies. No real investigation on their part. And we see the Nat’l media today, like CNN do a puff story as well. They investigate NOTHING anymore.
There is one Media outlet that has gotten the facts out there about $arah and has a lot of trust with what the Alaskan bloggers say and believe in their credibility. That would be ‘ Media Matters ‘ which Eric Boehlert writes for. He knows they speak the truth and do the fact-checking. Other writers on that blog have done stories as well. Andrews Sullivan at ‘The Daily Dish ‘ is not afraid to speak out and praises AKM on a regular basis with his hat tips.
AKM’s posting last night about the AFT should be forwarded to both of those outlets… don’t you think..?
They probably follow Mudflats anyway… but who would email them or how is that done? And would you contact Eric Boehlert, or just the website ‘ Media Matters’. Maybe AKM has already been in contact as well.
Good idea…bad idea…what does everyone think……
And a BIG hat tip to all the Sherlock Holmes and Angela Lansburys ( Murder She Wrote ) Detective Mudflatters who were able to debunk so quickly all the lies that were spewed forth by “$arah and her Followers”.
Information and sources were coming in from all directions. BRAVO!
Someone needs to pull it all together and report it now.
Major investigations are needed… and NOT by the Personnel Board
( as well as in a Court )
Guys,
All those posts with the photos of the thank you notes are already posted on the forum so we won’t lose them. I have saved copies of everything, uploaded them and posted them so we have them all.
Later on I will be uploading a bunch of pictures that show the very different styles that Sarah uses when signing her name based on what she is doing at the time. I swear that some of them will look like she has multiple personalities and each one signs with a different signature, but we can pretty much prove that the majority are hers.
Mooser @141 :+} – thanks for the belly laugh.
I’ve seen “Mooses” do the same thing in Glacier Bay!
I Love my Tarps too! Don’t know what we’d do without them in this country – !
“Alaskan Moosette”
Kalena @143 – Betcha’ the Governor tweets twice as much now that they’ve called her on it…she’s so clueless…thankfully, also.
It doesn’t matter if Sarah’s signature looks different on various notes. If someone signed Sarah’s name without her knowledge or permission, it’s Sarah’s responsibility to prove forgery, or someone must confess to forgery. Otherwise, we shall continue to assume she signed the notes herself and thus knew about the Alaska Fund Trust. Nailed.

I know that, for myself, this is the case. My business sig looks different than my personal sig which also looks different from my “friendly Christmas card” sig. But through all of them there is a similarity which can be seen in the first letter of the first and last name.
That said, I also have a friend with schizophrenia and her hand-written letters actually do have different styles. I can always tell when she’s coming from a place different than her usual space. It does stand out.
My theory is that Palin has altered states that cycle throughout the days, weeks and months. There’s no telling at this point why this is , (stress, meds, lack of sleep, neurochemical mish-mosh, cresting over the recommended daily intake of Red Bull etc) but, for me, there’s no doubt that her close friends and family are fully aware that Sarah’s moods have a kaleidoscope thang goin’ on.
In a few days, she’s going to be released of that gubernatorial hair-shirt and she’ll be then be wearing the more comfortable ” Blather and Yammer at Will ” hoodie. May interesting twittered insights are upon our communal cyber porch.
What is the logic of having a ‘fund trust’ set up completely behind Sarah’s back and without her knowledge so that she can’t spend a penny of it on anything whatsoever at any time.
That sounds exactly like what they are saying, and it adds up to a big steaming pile of bull poo.
did anyone read ann strongheart’s post on anonymous bloggers about her sojourn amongst the ugashak people this summer? i am taking my time to write to her because i don’t know how to frame my words in a loving ,helpful way. i sense her hurt and disillusionment. i understand what she is feeling. i feel her need for someone to help her come to terms with the truth of the matter. she is idealistic and pure in spirit. i am not. she needs someone to help her. someone pragmatic but kind..otherwise she will spill her life force for no reason..woman/wsc.,injuneau, martha. reach out to her please….bubs
More of the same for Alaska. This just came out from pod person SP.

bubbles–I’ll drop her a line. I’ve already gotten a ton of yarn ready to send out to NI when she gets back there, and I need to check in on her anyway. It is crushing, I think, to find that what you hold so dear in your culture is not so treasured other places…

————————————————————–I caught that, thanks. The RNC ran him off too. Quit or be fired.
mhrt–Geeze, maybe he should have the DOL look in to making sure that elected officials stay ethical rather than trying to figure out how to keep it quite when they’re found to not be…
pvazwindy–do you blame them?
@marzipan:
I second what lilybart says about getting your candidate introduced to the DailyKos community. We LOVE to support good candidates.
It doesn’t have to be a super long diary. Just make sure it outlines what’s great about your guy, links to his website, and makes it easy to donate. Getting him on Act Blue is really a help as a lot of use that as one-stop political donating.
And, please include a photo or photos–your candidate, candidate with volunteers, etc. You can set up a free account at PhotoBucket (what I use) or any of the other free online photo storage services.
No one’s going to call you out for making mistakes with a diary. Instead, you’ll get helpful advice on how to correct anything that might not be functioning.

@Juju, I was only giving my opinion on a legal defense fund not influencing an elected official, not what the ethics act says. I think most people here don’t have a clue about the ethics act Sarah pushed for and signed a couple years ago. It needs to be changed for sure, but right now it is the law. Daniel may have been correct in his interpretation of it, not sure.
Either way, for me all that is moot. What I am concerned with is why Kris Cole is lying about Sarah knowing about the Fund Trust and having something to do with setting it up. Alarm bells! The only reason I can think of why she would lie is because something is not right.
I don’t recall when I donated to the Fund. A group of us in the Valley wanted to help Sarah with her legal bills and anklebiters and were told this winter (Feb I think?) that a legal defense fund was going to be set up and that maybe we could hold off giving to SarahPAC and instead give to the other fund. Then we got word in late April and we all donated to the legal defense fund. We assumed Sarah would start using that money to pay her and Todd’s legal bills. Now we find out from announcement from Sarah she hasn’t used any of the donations. Well why the hell were we even donating then? And what is really going on, so many conflicting reports from people who helped Sarah set this all up.

“Real Ak. I am sorry I still don’t understand the lies you think Sarah and Cole made. Guess I am a slow learner.”
——————————–
Juju, and Yogi too, we may have differing reading comprehension skills but I am saying Kris is outright lying when she says – “I want to be clear on a point that has been misrepresented: The Governor is not and was not involved with the Trust. The Governor has never worked on or with the Trust…The first and only time I have spoken with the Governor about the Trust was yesterday to alert her that I was responding to this violation of the law and leak of preliminary and confidential materials from the complainant.”
If you were in a room with Kristen Cole and others and Kris asked people to donate to an upcoming legal defense fund the governor was setting up with her and others…then you read in the paper that same person saying the governor had nothing to do with it, what would you think?
And Brian Davidson, I’ll tell you what. If Alaskans who supported Sarah and donated money to her and actually live here can’t offer truthful comments without being called a “troll,” then all this site is is a love fest where any criticisms and opinion that don’t match with yours are censored. That sjk person, glad he is banned, stuff like that is uncalled for. I try hard to be respectful. I try hard to listen to everyone’s opinion. I try to offer my insight. Comments like yours though, Brian Davidson, push the limits and are just out of bounds.

Yogi, it depends how you want to read Cole’s statement.
I took it to mean that Sarah wasn’t involved at all in the “formation” of the trust. I know this to be a baldfaced lie. If Sarah was indeed involved in the “formation” of the trust (and she was), is this statement still true?
“The Governor is not and was not involved with the Trust. The Governor has never worked on or with the Trust.”
I don’t see how it could be. There is no denying Sarah was involved in setting up the Fund Trust. Her name is all over it and she gave permission and all. C’mon, let’s be honest with ourselves.
I would just like to know why Kris had to lie.

Hmmm… he’s standing his ground, but RealAlaskan appears to be one very unhappy puppy, a C4Ppuppy as opposed to a mudpuppy!
oops, that should be “keep it quiet” (not “keep it quite”)!
“Missing Lynx.” That’s really funny, AKM.
Can hardly wait for the “missing GINO.”
marzapan, I can’t give you any better advice that what lilybart and Liz I. have said about diaries. I’m no diary pro
However, I think that if you believe in this guy, then it will come through, put what it is you like, why you support him, what he is doing or wants to do. Add those links and pictures.
You can work on it bit by bit too. Save it to draft form if you don’t have all the time and know that those here who are also there will support you and recommend.
Drop a line here on the blog and let us know when you are going to post, so we are sure not to miss it.
Good luck and pop in with questions on whatever the latest open thread is if you need any help.

I read Ann’s story a few days ago. (I have been reading her blog for quite awhile and just love it) I too am thinking of something to write to cheer her up some.

What is this about yarn? I must have missed it. Does this have to do with Forty Watt’s plan for quilt donation? Gawd, I can’t keep up!

Thank you Alaskan Sisu for giving me a good chuckle! -”The Mudpuppy Detective Agency”…

Bubbles,
honey, no, it’s never for “no reason.” Sometimes it’s for little effe – no, for little apparent effect, but there’s not a one of us who can tell what seed will fall in what place. And sometimes, seeds can fall in the unlikeliest places and take firm root.
That said, I agree on having someone near. Pragmatic is huge. It’s necessary. Idealism is necessary, too.

booboodog–the yarn thing goes back to last winter when the women of Nunam Iqua were wanting yarn to make items for the upcoming potlatch. I wasn’t on the ball enough to get some off to them then, but I just bought a TON of it at a garage sale for a song or two (relative to how much there is!), and I am now just waiting for her to get back to NI in the fall after the fishing season to send it to her (no sense in making them have to take it back with them).
new post..K cole

Parnell is taking up the cry of “preliminary” report. Wonder if Daniel will get a do over for a new “final” report.
Parnell just posted a note to “End Information Leaks”. More empty words, won’t change what’s already happened.
http://www.ltgov.state.ak.us/news.php?id=4282
Quick question:
Many pro-Palin sites reference the “picture with the fish” as yet another victimization of their Queen — honestly, I thought I was pretty up on my Palin trivia, but this one got by me. What are they talking about??
the norwegian blue–I think that is in reference to an ethics filing about a photo of her and a fish being used in marketing materials by ASMI (Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute). I believe that one was dismissed.
norwegian blue….
I am at a loss like you are as well.
Kristan Cole inserted that into her diatribe last night and even $arah mentioned a picture with a fish in her ‘ Quit speech’. It’s certainly nothing the non Pro-Palin sites speak off. Are they imagining 6 ft white rabbits ( Jimmy Stewart) now as well.
Just too weird. I guess Kristan doesn’t follow blogs either. It’s all imaginary.
Here’s the info on the fish photo:
#11; filed on 12/18/08 by unnamed filer; Alleged misuse of funds by allowing her picture to be used to promote Alaska seafood in national publications while also promoting her national political ambitions; resolution: 01/12/09 Dismissed by AK Personnel Board
About the fish thing. I believe it was dismissed because the picture and its use pre-dated any campaigning – for Gov or VP, either one.
I wish I remembered where I read that. Sorry.
It occurs to me that Parnell’s insistence that the Daniel report was “preliminary” undermines Van Flein’s accusation that Kim Chatman leaked the document. Surely, even a completely out of control ethics process would not be giving “preliminary” reports to the complainant.
thanks InJuneau! I wonder why all the other governors are so slow to cash in:

Good thought, antiAnti. I so love how they are putting it out there as fact that Chatman leaked it with no shred of proof. It’s not very responsible or smart of them.
The National Press is a little slow with the “TRUST FUND GATE”, because they don’t want to cry wolf durning BO prime time health care mission. Mudflatters have a keener insight into Gino’s sly dealings. I hope that this matter brings down the SS Palin, but she has a way very cunning of spinning her sins into poor meeeessss.
AKM is will be coming up on the radio… KTLK (Burbank)
( maybe not for a little while though-last guest?)
Looks like AKM will be on in the last Hour

I’m listening to KTLK AM 1150 live stream waiting for AKM’s turn. Lots of commercials, Dennis Kucinich was on for a bit doing health care legislation talk. Watching Burn Notice in the meantime.

I have to admit when I read the headline and first paragraph of this article, I thought it was humor. (I did not read the top of the page and who wrote it)
It is quite serious and it is quite obvious he knows VERY LITTLE about $arah.

From CalBuzz:
Stop the presses: Sacramento is not the worst state capital in America. In fact, according to the National Journal’s analysis of “The Six Most Dysfunctional State Governments” in the nation, California comes in a sorry sixth, scoring only 6.25 points out of a possible 10, and trailing South Carolina, Alaska, Illinois, Nevada and New York.
The magazine rated states according to four critieria, and while we scored big in “Policy Challenges” (10) and “Leadership Problems (8),” we lagged far behind in “Criminality” (1) and “Media Circus” atmosphere (6). Calbuzz notes that four of the five states finishing in front have had recent sex scandals while Alaska has Sarah Palin’s ongoing snowbilly soap opera saga….
Maybe with AKM on the radio down there near LA… some high-priced Lawyers will be tuning in and be willing to do some Pro-bono work for Kim Chatman.
At the same time add Shannyn’s name to the list while visiting Alaska.
Can you imagine a REAL Lawyer going up against Van Flein..?
He seems to be rather inept in the way he has represented $arah so far. But then look who He is working with.
As per Halcro’s comments today…. hard to believe he has not asked to be paid yet for the last 10 months.
Gloria Allred (sp?) has been know to do pro-bono work. I don’t know her politics but you make a good point. I hope someone hears about this and takes up for Kim Chatman.
Did he just say AKM is on this hour or next hour? My phone rang right when he mentioned her.
I remember how annoyed I was to learn Todd Palin was allowed into State of Alaska meetings when he had no business being there.
I wonder if Sarah will really stay away, or if she’ll try to continue to be involved in Alaska business. Will the new administration allow it?
No way, no how do any of these links for the radio station work for me. Have cleared cache, and everything. Please liveblog when the AKM interview comes on!

I had problems too, but I found that if I clicked on listen live and just waited about 3 minutes it just started playing. Don’t click on anything after you click listen live and see what happens. Good luck!
I’m on and will live blog, Problem child. No worries!

Come to the new thread for live blogging AKM on the radio!
I just thought I’d throw this in with all the other stuff about Palin.
I spoke with someone I know in publishing asking about the 4 million advance, the 10 million contract.
It seems that Palin already has her advance of 4 million, in hand, in cash.
First thing noted is that there will be a huge market for her book and that she will make much more than the figures I’ve mentioned when you figure in reprints. The exact language to me was “she’ll make Waaaaaaay More than that”.
The 4 million is paid in cash at the time of the signing of the contract. (done) The rest comes out of royalties, usually 7-10% of net sales.
In this business, even if the author or the subject is abhorrent, it’s still just business in the end and she’ll be making Harpers more than they are going to be paying her.
Two markets, conservatives (book 1), second market (religioius book 2), plenty of reprints thoughout the coming years, then the foreign markets. Harpers will be negotiating foreign rights contracts so you’ll see it in print in other countries.
Now that is a very good reason for dumping the puny office of Governor to someone who bows at the alter of cold hard cash.
“The Six Most Dysfunctional State Governments” in the nation, California comes in a sorry sixth, scoring only 6.25 points out of a possible 10, and trailing South Carolina, Alaska, Illinois, Nevada and New York.

Gee, I’m SO proud!!! We came in 5th on this poll and an embarassing 50 out of 50 on a recent poll about effective governors. Of course, that WAS before the Wasilla Princess decided to abdicate her throne, so Patterson might have moved up to 49 in the rankings!
Lawyers would have to be licensed to do legal work in the State.

I can’t believe I was this slow on the uptake!
what a combination of pun-itude! Full points, dude.
Crazy update from last night open thread comment. Can’t believe the rabbis were selling body parts and laundering money like that in NJ and NY area. My dad’s thing about the people going to church applies across all religions, I guess.
Human trafficking by people in Chinatown story on On Point Radio so not leaving anyone out.
I read it was thirty people arreseted, including the rabbis and at least two mayors.
Now New Jersey will have something besides bad drivers and Anthony Bourdain to be famous for. I would have stuck to the drivers and Bourdain, myself.
oh, fiddle. arreseted = arrested (dang typos)
I need some mudpup love…
Please let me rant for a minute.
It would seem the recession is hitting the oil field in Alaska. Hubby just had to take a 3% cut in pay and says all raises are frozen indefinitely. The company he works for was told by BP that they needed to charge less or else. Apparently BP is cutting their workers’ pay by 3-8% as well.
The hotels in town are advertising cheaper room rates with big banners flying on the street (usually you can’t get a room in this town unless you book it a year in advance).
The Medicare/Medicaid problem is causing a s*&t storm in every billing office and my job is getting crazy because of the freeze on getting services for elderly people at home. I am a therapist, my job is to get people rehabilitated to go home (hmmm). Sort of hard to do that when there is no discharge plan. People haven’t quite panicked yet but I do believe that it is coming.
Heard a story on NPR this evening about how seniors are the new under-served in this state due to no doctors taking Medicare patients.
I spent 7 hours today dealing with my own body, that seems to be going out of control (pre-menopausal), and the subsequent slap-in-the-face of mortality rearing its ugly head. Thank god I have health insurance.
I’m worried about my 12 year old Malamute
And the two-way bridge across a river that I have to go over every day to get home is closed down to one lane (no alternate route). What are they thinking???? On the Peninsula right smack in the middle of fishing season? They couldn’t have done it earlier or later?
I hate to say it but today I couldn’t give a flying f*%k about SP. I want her done, finished.
I want to be able to talk to conservatives instead of avoiding them. I want to try to find some kind of middle ground. I only seem to be able to do this with some of my friends and neighbors (and mostly if we avoid politics altogether).
I got into a discussion with a woman at the hospital about SP. She said “never has there been a woman who had so much heaped on her before”. I told her “we will probably have to agree to disagree on that one because IMO she brings it down on herself”. She did agree that she felt SP had mistreated her own family. She admitted that she knew nothing about the complaints that had been filed against SP. But you betcha she knows about the supposed $500K in lawyer fees. I had to inform her that according to the talk today, she hasn’t been billed by her lawyer. And did she have any idea which case has cost the most? Of course she didn’t. She was shocked I tell ya.
At least it was a civil conversation.
This is why so many people in Alaska still like her. She garners their pity but they do nothing to educate themselves on the issues. I do not see this changing in the near future. For the most part, people just see their politicians as corrupt all of the way around–”that’s how it’s been, that’s how it will always be”.
I blame the Bush era for a lot of it. We have been slammed into the ground and trampled on for 8 years and it is going to take a while to heal. We do need a few voices of reason in order to heal.
And perhaps this is where we need to begin. I admit that I am terribly rigid in my beliefs when it comes to emotional issues such as abortion. I don’t really expect the other side to change any more than I am willing to change. This is what the far right and left wings want. for us to be fighting over the things that we are not going to change on. This is the crowd that SP panders to. For these and many other reasons I applaud what mudpups are doing. I just can’t get caught up in it today because my life is intruding…
Sorry-rant over
By the way,
If anybody cares my husband and I are taking two vehicles, one 20 y/o with a strong back and all the tools we can carry to go up and help out in Eagle for 5 days.
I PMd YBG to see if they have any needs in terms of clothing and housewares, etc. I was thinking garage/yard sale kind of stuff. There is a thread under Alaskan Lodge on the forum. I will post there (or maybe YBG will) if anyone needs stuff driven up there. We plan to leave on the 5th of August (subject to change).
What a beautiful picture! Thanks for sharing! But most of all thanks for NOT calling Palin – she would have hopped on a helicopter and … you know.
Lovemydogs
Dang, hon, you’ve had a day, haven’t you! At least the one woman was civil enough to hear you out (and take it in!).
I guess that some days are simply “like that” and all you can do is grit your teeth and get through ‘em. It *will* get better, I promise. Okay, it might get a bit worse first, but it will also get better. Honest.
I’ve adopted a T-shirt saying I saw a few years ago as my motto, just for those awful days – feel free to grab it for your own use if you want. (here tis:)
“Some days, it just don’t pay to chew through the danged restraints.”
An’ that’s the trufe!
hugs hon, I’m calling this day an aberration, just for you.
Nan
Thanks Nan,
That made me laugh. The best medicine you know. Can I borrow the shirt???
gryphen has video of scarah strutting her stuff at beauty pageant. Priceless!
Nooooooooo, say it ain’t so…palins moving to Texas! Lord help us all!
lovemydogs -
Good! I’m glad (laughter is a wonderful thing, ain’t it!)
I’d love to lend you the shirt, but I was too cheap to buy it lol Instead, I just “borrowed” the saying (should I be ashamed of that? hmmm.)
Nan
“My dad’s thing about the people going to church applies across all religions, I guess”
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but let me ask you this: Has your two-bit, one-horse, no-account, sect got its own country like us Jews do? You got your own nuclear weapons? Your own Army? I didn’t think so, small timer!
So you just shut up about those Rabbis. All Jews are de facto citizens of Israel, and what those Rabbis did is not against the law there. As soon as they get out on bail, whoosh, off they go to the Holy Land, and American justice can’t come near their ass, cause it would be anti-Semitic.
So try and remember who your dealing with here, sucker. We are the Jews, and we have our own country, where the laws are directly from God hisself. And all you have to do is read the Bible to see how well we follow them, and how much God loves us. So if you know what’s good for you, you better keep your mouth closed. Anti-Semite!
I looked closely at the letter Palin wrote herself and sign and the thank you note to donors for sure she signed it but it does not look like she wrote it it unless in the note shown in her handwriting was done in a hurry and the Donner note she had plenty of time I tend to agree that Her daughters may have helped write the notes and she signed them .The signatures are to close to be anything else.
