So Long, Sarah. The Governor’s Picnic in Anchorage.

25 07 2009

Well, it was an interesting day at the zoo. And what a zoo it was!

I showed up at the Governor’s picnic a little bit early, and was quite amazed at the number of people who were there to bid farewell to the soon-to-be-ex governor. The thing I hadn’t counted on, I realized as I was walking the half mile from the first open parking place to the picnic grounds, was the tourists. Flocks of Lower 48ers had shown up with big smiles and cameras waiting for their chance to say hello.

Palin’s speech was, in a word, non-existant. You can see it in its entirety above courtesy of fellow traveler ‘frsbdg’. I’ll have more posted later, but right now I’m headed off to join Shannyn Moore on the Shannyn Moore Show for a Screen Door Saturday Special!

I’ve got lots of pictures coming.  Here’s one that made me laugh.

OK–I was busy live blogging on the other thread, but I have to say this:

With ABSOLUTELY no offense intended to the deaf, I found that the woman doing the sign language interpretation of Sarah made more sense to me than hearing XGINO’s word salad!

In her speech she said there was a prayer at the official Government sponsored picnic. Government sponsored prayers are not appropriate.

I am looking forward in the future to chatting with some Palinites, haha!
The Quitnic looked pretty lame, I don’t see a need for security. Come on, is there really Secret Service up there?

I agree that the bloggers in Alaska need the protection much more than Ms Palin does she has told people to go after them in so many words,Kind of like she did at her VP rallies where she let hate messages go by.At least she has protection the progressive bloggters do not.

The pictures of people with guns and holsters that are not law enforcement remind me of when I played cowboys and indians or cops and robbers LOL.Why any one needs to walk around like that is beyond me except to show how big they think they are

I posted this over at the ADN comments, but thought I’d preach it to “the choir” here at The Flats, too. I should know better than to try to listen to Palin’s speeches, they make me crazy, and I have to respond somewhere!

Sadly, being a Palin supporter doesn’t require “meaning” or logic. She throws out a barrage of buzzwords like “true patriot”, “freedom” & “liberty” like a weapon against those other, liberal, (thinking and questioning) people – the people that the neocons like to disparage as the “elite”. But you know what? Intelligence, oversight, and demanding accountability from our government leaders does not constitute “elitism”. In fact, while the neocons like to claim that they (exclusively) are the standard-bearers for America and all it stands for, quite the opposite seems to be the case. Those “Liberal Elites” seem to be the REAL “real patriots” – the ones that are standing up and fighting for the tenets upon which our country was founded. America was built on a foundation of open government, freedom of the press, checks & balances, and personal responsibility to question leaders and to call them to task for breaches of law and ethics. These are all the things that Ms. Palin has waged holy war on her detractors for doing. So who are the “real” Americans here? Clearly not Palin, who seeks to obstuct open government & undermine the real meaning of “freedom” and “patriotism” at every turn.

Funny, the KTUU newscaster was on-scene in Fbks, covering the preparations for the Ghastly Guv’s Final Debacle. She said “One thing’s for sure – tomorrow, all eyes will be on Palin”. But it sounded for all the world like she said “All LIES will be on Palin”. How prophetic. Hmm… Freudian slip, or a little Independence Day Eve kharma? ;-)

We understand. Our daughter and son-in-law provided security with Minneapolis PD for the GOP national convention in St. Paul when Palin accepted the nomination. Our son-in-law got the coveted job of guarding her hotel room. He was very impressed with her — in fact (much to my dismay), they both voted for her. :-(

You had a job to do.

Our kids also got assigned by Mpls PD to do security for the inauguration. They brought us back souvenirs … our commemorative baseball cap with the embroidered BO signature made it through the Eagle Flood, and it will always be a keepsake. So guess the kids did OK after all.

They said there were almost NO problems during the inaugural parade. There was just one guy who tried to jump over a barricade, but he was whisked off so fast that no one even noticed. It was incredibly well organized and carried out.

what time is the blessed Last Picnik? WHen does she hand over the sacred BB? Can Newt tutor her and keep his eyes where they belong? Does she still want to hunt down Mittens? Can she shuck with Huck? Does Rudy have TWO more tix to a Yankees game? Will she take on the MSC (Mainstream Comedians) again? Can French Canadien radio show guys punk her again? Will SNL ever be the same? How many R’s will have her help fundraise? How many D’s?

Bottom line, the world doesnt revolve around Katie Couric. Her ratings are down too…

  24. 74
    KaJo Says:

TWO more tickets to a Yankees game, sjk?

Why, didn’t $arah The Truther tell us herself that Willow The Invisible was at the last one?

One would think that at least three tickets would be needed, for $arah, Toddy, and $arah’s Invisible Friend.
