Palin is Poetry.

28 07 2009

Whoever came up with this needs to retire now, because they will never ever surpass the magnum opus that is William Shatner reading Palin’s crazy quit speech… as poetry.  This is not comedy gold.  This is comedy platinum.

We now know what will assure Palin’s sucess in the future.  It’s not a translator.  It’s not a copy editor.  It’s not even an actual speech writer.  It’s a traveling bass/bongo drum duet.

Enjoy…

AKM, thank you for posting the “comedy platinum” version of Palin’s poetry. Palin’s dramatic poetic opening followed by her equally dramatic victim/victimizing abdication proclamation was startling. Shatner makes it forever, oh, so sweet. I may even be able to finally view Palin objectively rather than react emotionally…something, I believe, AKM, you have been doing from day one.

While we wait for Palin to be specific with her allegations, I hope you will post an expose of the speech as only you can. You’ve got the full transcript (God bless you) ready and waiting.

Thanks, also, to the mudpups for your passionate and informative comments. It took me over 2 hours to go through them and worth every minute. I reloaded the page before posting my comment and see the video has been pulled. It takes me a long time to comment, too.

Thanks for providing the links re: poetry reading. Had to try a few before I could hear it.
There are countless sites that have Palinspeak as Poetry. Just google: palin as poetry and they will come up. The first 3 today are Slate, MUDFLATS,and TrueSlant. Each site has jumps to others. Slate has Rumsfeld (sp?) and also too has Ms. qwittypants. If I read info right someone wrote a Sarah speech as poetry book? If so the great Mr. Shatner’s next career move should be reading these poems so those of us who miss her mellifluous -NOT-voice can carry it with us when we travel. For the laughs doncha know, you betcha!

Doesn’t ANYONE think she may have a neurological problem relating to how she uses/processes language? In such a large community as ours here, there is more than likely to be others who have encountered children with language difficulties of different sorts. Don’t her difficulties remind you of anything – apart from her being a psychopath? I am so NOT a fan of hers, but from time to time over the past year I’ve felt some pity for her utterances because they have been so mouth-droppingly inane, …and embarrassing, AND she has seemed so unaware of this. There just has to be something wrong with her processing skills. I hesitate to believe that she can be as dumb as she has presented herself this past year, without there being some explanation.

Sarah Palin’s Gradual Descent Into Incoherency http://gawker.com/5324026/sarah-palins-gradual-descent-into-incoherency

I couldn’t bring myself to listen to all of the clips on this post. Serious ear bleeding from brain explosion. The author uses clips going back 2 decades to show how $P changed from being able to speak a short but coherent sentence to a “ramble-off” of “dark, vague paranoia”.

“Twenty years ago she could competently descibe a dog race, three years ago she could articulate a position on the abortion issue, and this weekend she composed a resignation speech by throwing culture war stock phrases into a hat and dumping it upside down on a copy of The Paranoid Style in American Politics”.

vyccan, does the above observation of the degradation of SP’s communication skills bring to mind any specific neurological problem to you? Just wondering. Early onset Alzheimers maybe? Had a relative with that problem and the paranoia was definitely there.

That’s why I laff when people worry about 2012. A one page letter on election eve WILL NOT cut it next go around. The other Rethugs running are gonna go out of their way to release their’s very quickly. Plus , you got your Levi book , your Meghan McCain book , who knows what else coming down the pike.

vyccan and NooooooPalin : Please ,say I am not deriding someone who may be seriously ill. Your posts brought so many things to mind and someone earlier referenced autism–I have 2 g.sons who have autism–there is a similarity. Dementia runs in our family, bi-polar also too. OMG are there similarities. I still despise the woman and what she stood for. That said, I hope she is ok and her aberrations with speech n stuff are symptoms of stress due to the iceberg that is lurking out there– still. I hope it is the iceberg- a whole flotilla of them. If it is something due to ilness I hope it is just drugs or diet pills or something she can fix. (btw we are a large family and we’re not all suffering from mental stuffl-just some of us-I think )
Ed Show has AK. Dem Chairwoman coming on his show in a few minutes with news on Sarah intrigues. Ed Show is on MSNBC right now. Eastern time-don’t know if there is time lag for shows.

    faithfulpup Says:

Sorry prob. OT Ed Show Dem chairwoman–SP team evidently edited and altered e-mails (which e-mails new ones we don”t know about? The ones in the “outside” state case?, they have found out SP was running Ak thru her blackberry, probably trying to avoid scrutiny. Gee who knew!! ;} Also very high costs to state of Ak. due to SP law team trying to stop inquiries, tip of only one iceberg. Dem committee will be staying on top of this and will not stop investigating. sorry if this is messed up -I actually missed part of interview due to doorbell. DRAT

    NoooooooPalin Says:

faithfulpup, that was just speculation…a serious response to vyccan’s serious question. Much as I loathe SP, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.
Hope I didn’t miss that interview on Ed Show; had to switch channels cause he had some idiot from PETA on and I refuse to give them air time. What’s with the MSM that they give this fringe group status as a serious animal welfare group? What’s wrong with interviewing someone from ASPCA? Sorry, OT. grrr.

NooooooooPalin. Whew–I’ve been reading all the threads i can lately and am quite burnt out not to recognize pup sarcasm and humor. new to being other than a lurker is me.
Agree totally about SPCA rep. instead of PETA. Do they realize how silly the media makes them out to be, all that brouhaha over the Pres and his fly. The swatted fly I mean.
Lots about Ed Show etc. on new thread -

Wow, I played it for my wife and she would not believe it was true until I showed her the SP video. My brain glazes over after a few words of video or text so I did not realize how silly it actually was.

Faithfulpup and NoooooooPalin: (Sorry about delayed response – got caught in a looong telephone conversation)

“Twenty years ago she could competently descibe a dog race, three years ago she could articulate a position on the abortion issue, and this weekend she composed a resignation speech by throwing culture war stock phrases into a hat and dumping it upside down…”

No, I didn’t/don’t think Alzheimer’s. Maybe the deterioration has more to do with the increase in the stress/pressure level over the years. Sarah would, in fact have had more familiarity, ie. actual life experience, with the dog race scenario than with the big leagues upper level politics she was trying to be a part of this past year. The high-level-functioning autistic kids (Asperger’s) I know are very coherent when discussing topics with which they are very familiar – not so coherent when you change the script. They tend to resort to an answer from their repertoire when they are not sure what you are asking. They won’t usually say they don’t understand – they know you are asking a question so they give you AN answer. Sarah seemed to do that a lot. She also got indignant often, blaming the interviewer, justifying her position while saying the same thing over and over without really making sense. I’d bet [ my stuffed cat ;-) ] that she’s LD with a language impairment of some sort. Of course, we’ll never find out as those types of identification, to my knowledge, are primarily done in the school system. Oh well, now that she is off the major political stage [I hope for good] I can say with great relief ‘Good luck, Sarah! Thanks for the entertainment’

By the way AK, thank you for including me in the ‘family’. Though I haven’t said anything before today, I’ve been here for months enjoying your humour AND the tone of your entries, not to mention your version of Alaska. Being a coward at heart, I can’t imagine wanting to live anywhere where I could see a moose or bear in my yard, but I do enjoy your ‘nature’ pictures and stories. You should know that your blog has taught me lots about Alaska – a place I never thought about until the advent of Sarah P on the ‘international’ scene. (I am Canadian.) Thank you also for the many times you shed light on the background Palin story in a factual manner. Love your writing style (envious really – in a nice way), and hope you will continue to keep us updated in your own inimitable way.

Comedy GOLD! Damn you Shatner, you’re making it sound good. I don’t miss the finger pointing, the gnarled knuckle pointing, the screeching shrill one calls a voice though. Was she on acid? Attempting to channel Hunter S. Thompson?

As Gordon Ramsay would say, ‘F—cking Hell.’ I’d call that speech ‘Breaking Bad’, like the tv series.

You know, when a political farewell speech is held up for lulz, you’re career has ended. She may rise like a zombie from the dead seeking BRAINS!! next.

SP could very well have a learning disability or processing disorder in addition to the other psychological disorders I believe she has. I am her age, and back in the 60-70-80 when we were in school, subtle learning disoorders were not as readily picked up and addresssed as they are now . The fact that it took her what was it – 6 years and 5 colleges to get an undergrad degree in journalism may be a clue to some disorder. My sister has a reading comprehension problem that 12 years of parochial school dismissed. The poor girl flunked out of college before she got some help.

If $P is undergoing a degradation of mental-verbal function, I wonder if it is associated with the toxic air source that has been illegally generated in her neighborhood for a few years?
