Open Thread – Screen Door Sunday in North Pole
1 08 2009There are still a few photos to share from the Don’t Let the Screen Door Hit You On the Way Out weekend. Here’s a great picture and write-up from Mudflatter J up in North Pole!
I read your blog most days, and was happy to have a screen door party. I had thought about going to the Governor’s Picnic up here in Fairbanks and bring along some witty signage so that the national press can appreciate that not all Alaskans support Sarah. Then, I thought, that the best way to show my non-support was to actually not attend her function in a negative or a positive manner. Probably the best thing was simply to not show up at all, for I really think that Sarah Palin loves attention in whatever form it comes. So, to host a party and have no one show up would really have bummed her out.
So, I hoisted a spare screen door up on the flagpole and hung an Alaskan flag on it…all under the Earth Flag. Maybe I’ll keep it up for a week or so to see if anyone asks me why i have a screen door hanging from my flagpole. We had a wonderful meal to celebrate her departure that featured Alaska Copper River red salmon with barracuda bbq sauce, Katie Couric grilled zucchini slices, and partially done rasberry custard pie.

Ah fond memories of hanging at Studio 54….Just kidding, I was only 11, but hey, my little brother and I LOVED DISCO MUSIC and I do remember the Push, Push in the Bush song from the youtube you linked to. Now I realize that while we loved the music we were probably pretty clueless regarding the topics the artists were singing about
I’ll download this to my iPod and bring my speakers and kayak around Lake Lucille blaring Push, Push in the Bush. That should boost my popularity here in Wasilla. I just hope Todd does not see fit to brandish a weapon

Since Dick Cheney purports to be from Montana – he had to claim a residence other than Texas in order to run as VP – Can’t have president & VP from same state- maybe the real Repug plan is to transplant Cheney’s brain into a runner’s body. Cheney’s ticker can’t be all that good, and is living on borrowed time.
Sarah thinks her move to Montana will make her potus, and she’s 50% correct. She just doesn’t know about the transplant, yet.

I think Palin’s three older children will be ok, especially if they stay in Alaska with Todd. But I worry about Piper and Trig. I know we are not supposed to post about the kids, but from what I have seen of Piper (as she is dragged from event to event), she is not doing well. She really needs a stable, secure environnment—something she will never get with SP. And Trig, of course, has never received the help that is available for special needs children. I keep these two children, as well as the others, in my prayers.

Would Sarah veto the divorce plans and go back to Todd just to make the bloggers and media look like they are “makin’ stuff up”?
Who is going to be drooling over a single Todd? (Greta? Meg? When is the next divorce?)
A single Sarah is bankable. That could be part of her plan, also, too. She’s got her PAC and Fund money. She’s got her book deal money. (Todd can have the house, but I can see her making him pay her for her half or buying it outright.) I wouldn’t be surprised if every single thing, including the car were in her name. And now she’s shopping herself around for a job.
Willow and Piper will go with Sarah but they’ll be gone soon. Will Trig be staying in Alaska to live with Bristol? He’ll just be a millstone to her new plans. Hmm. Willow will take care of Trig for two years, then Piper will take over. Trig won’t be so cute on the 2016 campaign trail so at some point, he’ll be going back to Alaska. Maybe if Bristol *is* his Mom, that will work out very well for Sarah.
Montana? I don’t think so. Not for long. That’s a stepping stone. Does she have her eye on a congressional district in Montana that would be easy for her to win? She’d have to be a resident for a year? Because I don’t see her launching her radio (or TV) career from there. So it’s either there’s a vulnerable office easy for her to win, or it’s a geographic stepping stone. Moving on to Texas a little later maybe?
Now…if she is running for a Montana congressional seat….that puts her in Congress for a run at the White House at a later date. Maybe 2016? Is that the plan? Serve 4-6 years in congress and then run? Unless. If she moves soon she’ll just barely be a resident for a year for the Montana 2010 elections. That puts her in line for 2012. Does she really think she has a chance against Obama in 2012? Well, I’m sure *she* does. Nope. I think she’s lining herself up for 2016. If she can keep her figure, a little plastic surgery, she’ll still look fine in 7 years. 52. That’s not too old.

ALASKA STRENGTHENS COMMUNITY PROPERTY AGREEMENTS AND TRUSTS BY CLARIFYING RIGHT TO AMEND AND REVOKE
In 1998, Alaska became the 10th community property state. In contrast to the other states, Alaska adopted an optional community property system. The default property system remains separate property. However, a couple may opt-in to a community property system. The act provides that non-residents of Alaska may use Alaska’s community property system by adopting an Alaska community property trust. The goal of the Act is to make available to both residents and non-residents of Alaska the community property benefits of sharing and equality, and a full stepped-up basis at the death of the first spouse.
The recent amendments clarify ambiguities relating to amendment and revocation of community property agreements and trusts. The following background is necessary to understand these amendments. The Alaska Community Property Act is based upon the Uniform Marital Property Act. One new feature added by UMPA is the ability of a couple to make a non-testamentary disposition under a community property agreement. Alaska enacted the same provision which is applicable both to community property agreements and community property trusts. Further, the Alaska Act provides that such instruments may not be amended or revoked unless the agreement or trust itself provides for revocation “on a particular date or on the occurrence of a particular event …”

I was just going to say that Judy. Cheny actually does have a place in Wyoming, was raised in Casper, Wyoming and was a Representative from the state. Long history in Wyoming.
Gryphen on says that she MIGHT be thinking of moving to Montana. Not that she definitely is.
Another thought is that if she was going to divorce Todd, she might not now. In fact, people separate and don’t always divorce or even file for legal separation. An agreement can be drawn up between the two parties and never publicized. (it could be notarized, but I’m not sure that is required)
The only way anyone would know for sure is if Todd filed for divorce or if S or T talked about it to the press.

I wouldn’t put it past Palin to start this rumor only to come out swinging as a victim—–again.
I can just hear her, “See what I mean about “makin’ things up”, these malicious rumors that seek to destroy our loving family from those who don’t wish that we progress forward, also—-for the troops.
It seems that she has a pattern of stirring the pot if she hasn’t been in the news cycle for a few days.

It’s been my experience that any time a politician’s “spokesperson” comes out with a weak denial of a rumor, as MS has done, it always turns out the rumor is true. Most times, rumors aren’t “made up stuff” like Palin or Stapletongue says they are, but are the smoke coming from the fire.
Besides, as someone pointed out, there was no denial of Palin involvement in the Johnston arrest, nor denial of Todd pointing a gun at Levi. It makes me wonder why the interview with Levi, though, won’t come out until Oct.? Is the magazine just trying to cover its ass? Or are they just waiting for the axe to fall?
And what wife leaves her husband stranded, as she did at the picnic? Why was Joe Schmidt standing in the place where Toad should have been? Why didn’t she stick around to gladhand her admirers? Ah, the questions, the questions.

While doing a Google search of the rumors I happened to see the same ‘ Quitter Float ‘ that AKM used in her story. I thought maybe even the Times UK had attributed to AKM and posted the pic. It was the same float… taken at a different time though. They cover some other points though and have some opinions from some fellow Wasillans in their story. Worth a read.

I feel very proud – as I was the one who originated the term “Screen Door Saturday”. Seeing that screen door picture warms my heart.
Now if someone can produce a copy of Sarah’s official, signed letter of resignation, I have a perfect place to hang a framed copy of it in my office.

Ohhhh.. I totally trust Gryphen over ADN. My thinking was to the point of how long will the ADN NOT print something. They may not report anything for a couple of days even. They will hold off till they are until it’s reported everywhere… that they have no choice. And even then it will probably be just a few lines… no story.

What troubles me most about this is now that Meg Stapleton has put the spin on it, Palin and her family have become ‘victims’
Listen to some of the comments on here. Posters that don’t like SP and/or Todd are feeling sorry for them, requesting respect for the family etc. Can you imagine what her supporters and undecideds will be saying and thinking? The bloggers and media will be blamed whether they divorce or not.
I don’t doubt Gryphen, I respect him but fear he accidently lay down under the bus. Consider this: Palin’s DO divorce. Megamouth: “They couldn’t take the rumours and abuse anymore and it destroyed their marriage” or Sarah has had a breakdown due to the abuse by the blogosphere and on it goes. There is a myriad of valid sounding excuses that will make bloggers look like callous haters, garner sympathy for SP and detract from the truth.
There is nothing more frightening to me than handing the ‘keys’ over to a sociopath. Never underestimate what they will do when cornered with the truth.
Sorry to sound negative, but I am very concerned.

I’m starting to think that this was planted as “Gotcha” media by Palin. Meg already seems to be saying, See….we told you people are makin’ things up and now you can see that we were right. Poor, poor Palin. Those mean liberals.
The other questions is why are Sarah and Meg reading the blogs and responding to every little thing that is said about Palin. I find that very odd.
Can you imagine if President Obama read the blogs and responded to all the things that are said about him. No….he rises above it. Something Palin cannot do.

Happy Birthday samper and I agree a great eart day flag picture.. I read Gryphen’s news because it was on yahoo news earlier today.Splitsville is the right word if true .I was seperated for almost a year before I finially filed so who knows what is really going on. I would hope he knows what is what because it couold make everyone look bad at5 least in the eyes of the Palin supporters if it did not happen right away
