Tune in to the Shannyn Moore Show on KBYR!
8 08 2009Yes, it’s Saturday… Time to burn a bundle of sage, Lysol the studio bathroom and take that scary conservative soaked foamy thing off the microphone. KBYR turns progressive for one day a week. I like to think the studio itself has a whole lot more fun on that day when it is filled with ideas, humor, intelligence and hope. Six days of fear mongering, hate, and toxicity is more than one poor padded room should have to take.
Today’s show should be great. There’s lots to talk about. Call Shannyn and tell her what you think of “Obama’s Death Panel,” the upcoming Legislative Session, the protests at Town Hall meetings across the country, Mark Begich’s upcoming trip to rural Alaska, or anything else on your mind.
As you know, Shannyn and I have both been selected (with your help) as Netroots Nation scholars and will be leaving for Pittsburgh this week! We are currently running a “Just-A-MudPac” pledge drive to cover plane tickets and other expenses, as we head out from Netroots for an evening at Harvard, and a stop to meet with the folks at MSNBC and the Huffington Post before we return. Your donations are greatly appreciated, and you can click that little button on the top of the sidebar that says “Pittsburgh or Bust! Donations”.
We’ll also be having a virtual fundraiser this evening and you are all welcome to join on line after Shannyn’s show starting at about 7:30pm Alaska time! You can click HERE to get the details. Anyone who contributes will have their name entered to win any of our wonderful door prizes including your very own Brian the Moose, fabulous wine, smoked salmon and more. There are a couple additional prizes which will be available for purchase, the proceeds going to help fund the trip. You have all been incredibly supportive, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Live blog it in the comments section. Shannyn always checks to see what you are all saying, and to get your feedback!
The number is 907.274.5297. The toll free number (in state only) is 866 610 5297
Live Streaming HERE.
Place & Time: 700am KBYR, Saturday 5-7pm Alaska time, (6-8pm Pacific, and 9-11pm Eastern.)
See you tonight at the virtual fundraiser! Attire for you will be the usual bloggers’ formalwear – pajamas. Slippers and robe optional.

Just dropping in to wish AKM and Shannyn a safe trip this week. Listened to the show, which was awesome as always. Will you be blogging at all this week or will we have to wait for your return before getting a taste of Netroots Nation? Would love to get to Pgh. Mudstock, but recovering from surgery and I don’t think I can talk my DH into driving. Bon voyage, and thanks for representing us and AKns in the Burg.

#17 Stangelet – I got 18 months COBRA from my last position. With taking care of medical stuff (known and new), I am a walking “pre-existing condition”. What is HEW? I am thinking of going back to my previous employer and asking/begging for another 18 months under some sort of new deal, but doubt that will work. Frustrating – and scary!

The news on Fox after Shannyn’s show contained a story about too many camels in Australia. Have grown to over a million of them since being introduced many decades ago and are considering do a kill to reduce the numbers — by “helicopter”

Most of continental Australia is unhabitable desert and that’s where they are. There isn’t any other way to get there but fly.

Aussie Blue Sky,
I just found it odd in that the conversations about Palin, AK and hunting wolves then to hear it for the camels. It’s something that if the ‘right’ hear it, you can almost hear them saying ‘they do it in Australia so what’s the big deal!!”

Zyggy, we have been blogging for a year now there are 23 people on chat and no one blogging, some of us can’t get on chat for some reason and the reason we are here is to BLOG!
August 8th, 2009 at 7:25 PM
and following chat is a bit challenging when one is not as familiar with everyone….
August 8th, 2009 at 7:27 PM
blogging also allows us to take a minute to think things through whereas the chat is so fast and furious, that it can feel intimidating – think cliques in high school. Am I out of line with this comment?

From what I saw of the town halls they are not going to let them be peaceful IMO they were given orders to stop- the meetings at any cost and I saw them pushing and shoving people and they would not let people ask questions. The problem is to get the word out to the moderate republicans which is the point of the stopping the the meetings. The only thing reported is the demonstrators not anything about health care

Zyggy and Snoskred ~ thank you all so much! I like the suggestion of blog and chat in different windows.
By the way: i’m a huge Chrome fan and will report any browser shenanigans to their Chrome Misbehavin’ department.

When I was laid off I was on cobra for 3 months because those 3 months they covered my meds after that it was cobra or meds because the deductible was so high I had to pay everything out of pocket till it reached 3500.That just goes to show how bad insurance companies have gotten.I went online and got a free discount card, but you have to compare because some don’t cover certain drugs. The discount card at least gave me a little off the highest cost drugs. The drugs I take run about 300 a month so it took almost 9 months before I would get any relief so Other than piece of mind in case of something worse the insurance companies made a mint off of me alone and I am sure their are many like me and they are now not an acceptable person to be insured,Thank God I am now on medicare, you have deductibles for both drugs and the rest but not like the regular insurance companies do .When I was still working our company wanted to offer Aflac and when I asked them about coverage once they saw the meds ect I was on they would not even discuss anything with me the person just walked away
