The Palin Notification Act.

27 08 2009

AKleftbehind

Please join Governor SARAH PALIN & nationally known conservative STAR PARKER Thursday, August 27th 7:30pm at Change Point Church Anchorage

The Alaskans for Parental Rights campaign was developed to return to parents the right to oversee abortion decisions their underage teenage daughters might be unfortunately considering.

********************************

So says the notice from Change Point Church, one of Anchorages 2 mega-churches that will be pushing hard for the Parental Notification act.  This announcement has appeared all over the internet, far and wide – state blogs, national blogs, Palin blogs, you name it.  I’ve known about this appearance for days now.  Apparently it’s been in the works for weeks and Jim Minnery, the president of the Alaska Family Council has been gleefully promoting the event.  There have even been robocalls by former Lt. Governor Loren Lehman jingling phones all over Anchorage saying, “I’m calling to ask you to meet with Gov. Sarah Palin and me this Thursday for an event to protect young girls facing abortion decisions.”

One teensy little problem, and I bet you can guess what it is.

She won’t be there.

That’s right, according to the ADN, spokeswoman Meg Stapleton says that neither she nor the ex-almost-one-term governor had ever heard anything about it. Imagine!

Here’s where we all take the heels of our hands and rub them in circles just over our brow ridge, then slowly do a “face palm” and draaaagggg our hands down until we’re pulling our lower eyelids and making “monster face.”  There’s really no other appropriate reaction at this point.  So, if you’ve been keeping a tally like I have, you can get out your little spiral pocket notebook and flip to the “Sarah Palin Flake Out” page.  That’s it…the one that says:

1.  GOP Winter Retreat in D.C. - said she couldn’t come because there was too much work to do back home, but was actually attending the swanky Alfalfa Club Dinner down the street.

2.  CPAC Conference- Smitten conservatives on Team Sarah had online groups saving pennies to go hear their idol speak at the convention.  Cancelled at the last minute stating she had never said she would be there despite claims by the organizer and heavy promotion on the website.

3.  Republican Senate and House Fundraiser – According to organizers, she said yes to delivering the keynote address.  Then she denied saying yes, and left the committee in the lurch forcing a last minute replacement by Newt Gingrich.

3A.  Republican Senate and House Fundraiser Take II - Invited a second time.  Said yes she would, then no she wouldn’t, then got disinvited and replaced by Newt Gingrich, then said yes she would, then they said forget it, but then she did….sort of.

4.  Fancy Republican Women’s fundraiser in Simi Valley at Reagan Library - High priced tickets promoted online and sold, then the claim she never said she’d be there and money had to be refunded.  Simultaneously thumbs nose at women, Republicans, rich people AND the ghost of Ronald Reagan.

and now our latest entry.

5….(licking tip of pencil)  Bagged out of speaking engagement at Change Point Church after her Alaskan right wing religious base and former Lt. Governor have been promoting her appearance for weeks.  Claims not to have known.  Also, simultaneously announces she won’t be coming to a $500 suggested donation private fundraiser that she admits being invited to because she’s out of town and won’t be back in time.

Where is she, and what is she doing?  Sorry everyone counting on her appearance, that information is classified according to Stapleton.  But feel free to write that $500 check anyway!

Why, it was just last month when I asked:

“I wonder how long it will be before nobody invites her to speak anywhere ever.  And what will Meg Stapletondo now that she can’t blame “miscommunication” with the governor’s staff?”

Apparently she just goes for the flat denial, and makes Jim Minnery of the Alaska Family Council sound like he’s listening to the voices in his head.  Again.

Maybe, instead of the Parental Notification Act, we need the Palin Notification Act.  I think that groups who are counting on her presence to make gobs of money, and create excitement, and boost attendance at their function should require at least two weeks notice that she plans to say she never knew anything about it.

You know…to avoid stuff like this appearing less than 24 hours before the event.

I’ve been thinking about Scarah not showing up tonight, like others have said this is very odd, this was ‘HER’ piece of legislation, why would she not be there to support it? It makes no sense.

Has she just thrown this whole group under the bus? And all of Alaska? She’s just not that into you anymore?

I guess at least it sealed her political fate, her goose is offically cooked. She’ll never live this down. Abortion is a big issue in the Republican Party.

It makes me think she’s going national tv with Fake Noise, there she can have her crappy opinion and celebrity, she’ll also find out the tv scene is just as brutal as politics.

But, also too, when in rehab or mental health recovery they most likely remove all media, limit phone calls and make one focus on personal health.

Also too too, Meg, Kristen and who know else sure do have cush jobs doing nothing, eh? Also too too too, just cuz Meg says she’s out of AK doesn’t mean that is true. But she most likely is, otherwise someone would have seen her, but she can’t be getting very social in the lower 48 or word she was seen would get around. It’s weird.

when was the last sighting anyway? the dinner with late night call to reporter in NY?

Anchorage residents need to determine how we can move to have these large membership churches (Prevo’s and ChangePoint) taxed (real estate) like the rest of us. Our City is operating in a deficit this year and is projected to again in 2010. Don’t you agree that it would only be fair? The fact the religious are intermingling so avidly with our city government is an abhorrence and that also needs to be rectified.

As to Palin, she is an embarrassment to Alaska! I fail to see how her ‘book’ is going to sell…unless Limbaugh and Beck purchase carloads of them and provide them to their followers.

Sorry if this has already have been posted. This is the update from the alaska family council web page :

“Media reports in the last 24 hours have quoted the Governor’s spokeswoman as saying that Mrs. Palin never committed to attend the event, and that she will not be present this evening.

We have been in regular communications with the Governor’s staff over the last several weeks. We were assured that Governor Palin was personally aware of this evening’s event, and that she twice confirmed her intent to participate.

We look forward to Governor Palin honoring her commitment to attend, and we appreciate her public support of our effort to pass this important voter initiative to protect the rights of parents and the health of teenage girls.”

I really think that the f%&/(k up is in the palin camp, once more.
To add to AKM’s list of no shows, I remember that mess up at some vet. event in Alaska where she was supposed to speak, then not speak, then came late and wanted to be up on the stage with her very short skirt.

    Sue #136-
SP probably doesn’t need surgery because her balancing act is so good. What do you think- did 3 medium sized lies and a couple of whoppers grow her nose enough to need one cut-off-my-nose-to-spite-my-face no-show to return it to normal?

  5. 155
    doglover Says:

Oops, she did it again. You would think these groups would wise up and realize that they are being played. Since there is much speculation on where SP is hiding out, maybe she pulled a Britney & shaved her head ? or it may have been a serious “bump it” accident ????

    Re #153
“We have been in regular communications with the Governor’s staff over the last several weeks.”
Ah- there’s the crunch- they haven’t figured out she’s no longer Governor. Maybe Parnell will show up as his staff have promised.

  7. 157
    pacos_gal Says:

Yep KateinCanada, that is the problem, they are in touch with a Governors staff, but since Palin isn’t a Governor, wonder whose Governor they were talking to. Betcha it wasn’t Alaska’s which would be Parnell. :)
Now that just sent me into a laughing meltdown.

Do they think SarahPac is a governor staff?
Is SarahPac acting as a governor staff?
It’s about time someone gets to the bottom of this.
    Too much insanity.

Palin’s theme song, (originally written by Willy Nelson, and perfomed by Patsy Cline): “Crazy, I’m crazy for being so lonely, Crazy, I’m crazy for being so blue… I’m crazy for lyin’, crazy for not tryin’ and crazy for foolin’ you….;”

    GinaM Says:

Hmpft….Looks like see 4 pee’rs got there orders. The newest/latest is to throw Minnery under the bus. Wow…those folks don’t realize they are messing with the church! Good luck with that one.

Say NO to Palin in Politics Says:

what is this? lol, are they going to shame and embarrass her into coming? now what will Meg say? lol

    Just re-reading Minnery’s update, last § :

“We look forward to Governor Palin honoring her commitment to attend, and ….”

What is the guy thinking. Threatening the Wassila Queen. She’s going to send her National Guard to chew your ass up, Minnery, with the help of her Lt Gov General.

  13. 163
    UK Lady Says:

    ROTFLOL

Minnery has been thrown under the bus but he ain’t gonna lie down. How much do you bet that he will name names after this.

  14. 164
    Blooper Says:

KateinCanda: ROFL, great point! It appears that the folks at Changepoint have been living in a cave for the past 2 months and didn’t bother to notice that she’s only an EX Gov now. Either way it’s clear that the ball is now back in Sarah’s court with their rebuttal. Someone is going to come out of this looking
foolish, and I’ll bet you anything Sarah is going to try her best not to be the fool.

I guess things like ‘facts’ and ‘reality’ seem to elude conservards.

  15. 165

    er, make that conservaTARds. :)

Sorry, I hadn’t read all the posts before adding my two cents. And yes, it was a doozy. I think it was the messiest no show, on her turf and about honoring the troops. I can’t believe she still has followers.

  19. 169
    not that sarah Says:

“Gov’s staff” makes me wonder if her “staff” are still on state salary. Is the nanny/chef still working for her? Just what are Alaskans paying for right now? Does she still have state funded security, drivers, etc???

Who are these staff people, if not her PAC people?

  20. 170
    nswfm CA Says:

165 InJuneau, I can’t take credit for that; I read it somewhere.

If you want to read some humorous writing related to Gov Iquitarod, see lynnrockets link under Fun Stuff.

  21. 171
    not that sarah Says:

Also, the church brought her to the political dance, so to speak. I can’t believe she’s foolish enough to throw them under the bus. They might have been scared of her before, and I realize she’s still pulling Parnell’s strings (as is the church), but hasn’t the power shifted a bit?

  22. 172
    InJuneau Says:

tamara–no, no, certainly not getting on your case (mostly just wanting to let others know they could go back and read great descriptions of it!).

not that sarah–I think the “nanny” finally left AIDEA and is working for Scarahpac. The chef hasn’t worked for the state for a couple of years now. She did other state work after leaving being the chef, but she’s in business for herself now.

nswfm CA–well, wherever the word came from, it’s a great one!

  23. 173

I spent the day trolling Palin’s Facebook “wall” for some comic relief from my sad life. I have never laughed so hard in my life.

Some knucklehead was actually incensed that the Massachusetts legislature wasn’t going to change the law with regard to filling Senator Kennedy’s senate seat so that — omg! — Mitt Romney could appoint Sister Sarah!

    Seriously!

These morons think Romney is still governor of Massachusetts AND that he could appoint an Alaska resident to the Massachusetts senate seat!

Health care? Who needs health care? I got Palin fans on Facebook curing me with laughter. They do say it is the best medicine, and I’m beginning to think they might be right about that!

Barely a whisper over there, however, about her apparent inability to decipher the workings of calendars or employ anyone with that particular knowledge.

Sarah still has two hours to wrap her face up, stop doing shots of crazy
with Glenn Beck, wink at Rupert and ask for the keys to the jet, scream at Todd that he’s draggin’ her down, try not to do a repeat of the flying while in labor thing–and she could be with The Council just as they try making more money to take the rights away of traumatized Alaskan teenaged girls.
And did someone from the Palin camp claim the pastor has tried to hoodwink Palin before?! Too much fun. But I’m sure everyone will smile and act slightly disappointed but still genuflect to Fake Bible Spice.

    __________

    For sure.

For all the loyalty her empty-headed fans show her, she sure doesn’t show much loyalty to them by leading them on with false advertising like that. Why, there ought to be a law. …
