OH, how wonderful! Took me back to when I lived in Homer, though, sad to say, the closest I ever got to Seldovia was Land’s End! I have forwarded this to a fellow in my book club who introduced me to Dana’s books.

With tears in my eyes I say Amen, and again Amen.

I had dinner with my two daughters and their husbands tonight. My youngest, who is 34, sat next to me on the couch and leaned onto my shoulder. I buried my nose in her sweet-smelling hair and was transported to the first time I ever held her. It is Freedom to cherish such things. It is Freedom to see the pride of my daughter’s to share in the cooking of a meal for their mother, the simple pleasure of conversation and company.

It is Freedom to be at peace and to know joy because it is fleeting and such things must be cherished.
