Open Thread – Troll of the Month

21 09 2009

Well, I’ve been waiting for more, but I think this one finally gave up.  And that’s a shame really, because its name and message just kept evolving over time.  It has visited several times in the past few weeks and I think it may have visited under another name long ago.

Our troll’s current name?  It started out as twomillion and then grew to twomillionstrong.  I assume that does not refer to the actual two million that showed up for President Obama’s inauguration, but rather to the 60,000 (give or take a bazillion) that attended the Teabagger Rally on 9/12.

But in any case…. sit back, pop a beer, or some corn, or a cup of coffee, whichever is appropriate for your time zone, and enjoy.

F*** you!!

I almost did a coffee spit when I got #5.  And I waited eagerly to see what other possible nightmare appointments twomillionstrong could possibly make to top that one.  And then came #6…  It had to go and get all mad and use a bad word.   I had such high hopes.  Oh, well.  And with that, it slithered back into the mudflats.  And where might this troll be located?  Before you start guessing Texas or Alabama or Arkansas like those we’ve had in the past, cast your stereotypes aside.  This one’s from Pittsfield, Massachussetts!  There are trolls in New England!  I thought they were extinct there, but apparently one has survived.

And with that, I say…

Glenn Beck for Fed Chairman!

Larry Craig for Scoutmaster!

Bill O’Reilly for Secretary of Education!

Dick Cheney for Health and Human Services!

Rush Limbaugh for the head of the Food & Drug Administration!

Carrie Prejean for Governor of Alaska!

Donald Rumsfeld for Secretary of Defense!    Oh, wait….

Just a few simple words like ‘ Iconic image ‘ and the internet went CRAZY… upon her command. That’s POWER!!

Todd would be best suited for something like HUDD, Housing and Urban Development.
Who ELSE… with such a small, limited supply of ‘ building materials ‘ , and Volunteer manpower , would have been able to erect that HUGE House with such limited resources. AND it came in ‘ under his budget’. No small feat indeed.
What a job…People should ‘ investigate ‘… to see how it was done.

Palin’s appearance in Hong Kong has generated a mixed response from the financial community. Investor Marc Faber, a fellow speaker at the CLSA conference who publishes the Gloom, Boom and Doom Report, said he has no plans to attend Palin’s presentation.

“I would not waste my time with hearing what a totally ignorant character has to say about the world,” Faber said in an e-mail.

Georgia is looking for federal disaster funds…

    ***WARNING: RANT COMING!!!***

Evelyn, please remove your blinders. I live smack dab of the hell that is going on now in the Atlanta Metro area and trust me, it doesn’t matter where you live, you deserve emergency help. We are a heck of a lot bigger population and area wise than New Orleans (Katrina – remember that???), and we have as bad, if not worse, flooding here.

Check out the photo slideshows at http://www.ajc.com for one, then try http://www.cbsatlanta.com, etc. Heck…GOOGLE IT! Educate yourself, please, before you go off on “Georgia is looking for federal disaster funds”, even if the Reds/Rethugs are in charge.

We have interstate highways closed, fish on those interstates trying to get back to where they should be (and losing the battle), bridges and roads gone, 2 story homes completely under water, an entire town evacuated due to a levee break, schools completely under water, hospitals without water or sewage treatment abilities and areas where there have never been floods before.

A family with 2 kids (one 2 yo, the other 1 yo) had their home torn in 2 – the 2 yo was found dead in one part of the broken up home, found some distance from the foundation; the rest of the family was rescued from trees – they got out of the broken home. I may be hosting some former co-workers who live less than 5 miles from me that have lost everything!

You try living with over 24″ of rain in your area since last Tuesday morning.

    *** RANT OVER***

I’m currently running off of a neighbor’s wireless network since my phone doesn’t work (yes, I only have dial up, since I’ve been out of work since January). But I have power, so I can’t complain too much.

(Sorry AKM/handy dandy administrators…but this whole us/them mess needs to stop when it comes to natural disasters.)

His Hospitals bilked the Government and was forced to pay a fine of like 1.7 Billion I think.

The clip he wants to bash/use in HIS defense was titled
” Protect Insurance Co’s -Public Service Announcement” so he must have thought ‘lefty librul hollywood ‘ … those ” shameless shills ‘ was supporting/defending the Insurance Co’s.( Oops…big mistake…get the Facts)
Will Farrell sounds so ‘ serious ‘ in the ad and says it with such a straight face that someone never noticed all the ‘ sarcasm make-up ‘ he had on as well.

BTW : Huffpo had sent me a Comedy Alert email this morning mentioning Will Farrell and some other actors….in a video.

    One minute into the vid their defending the Insurance Co’s seems a little silly and if troll ‘ amk ‘ had watched to the end it was hard not to notice that the ad was paid for by MoveOn.org.( CLUE !!) Humor, irony, and in this case a double shot of sarcasm poured in and mixed together. { he didn’t get it though }

The Video is posted on ‘ funny or die ‘… THAT should have been a CLUE right there.

    Honolulu Advertiser:

Former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin will address fund managers in Hong Kong today in a speech that may augment both her bank account and overseas profile ahead of a possible 2012 White House bid.

[According to various news sources, Dr. Marc Faber had been scheduled to speak WITH Sarah.]

Palin will probably tell investors that Obama’s health care plan may saddle the U.S. with a heavy debt burden for years to come, said Uwe Parpart, chief Asia strategist at Cantor Fitzgerald LP in Hong Kong. Investors outside the U.S. have helped finance unprecedented budget deficits, buying 43.1 percent of the $1.41 trillion of notes and bonds sold by the Treasury Department this year, government figures show.

“There is a lot at stake, and Palin in some ways symbolizes that for a lot of people,” said Parpart, who worked for the U.S. White House National Security Council under President Ronald Reagan. “She’s certainly a significant spokesperson for this kind of social conservative anti-Obama movement, which has picked up steam recently and chalked up some important successes.”

Scheunemann advising Palin for ‘wide-ranging’ Hong Kong talk

John McCain’s campaign foreign policy advisor, Randy Scheunemann, has emerged as an advisor to former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as she attempts to build a serious public profile and begins to build a network of aides and advisors typical of a national politician.

Scheunemann confirmed this evening that he’s with Palin in Hong Kong, where she is delivering a paid speech at a conference hosted by the brokerage house CLSA, which has in the past heard keynotes from Bill Clinton and Al Gore.

His presence offers a clue as to who in the McCain orbit has survived a bitter set of post-campaign recriminations, and suggests that this won’t be an anodyne foreign policy address, and one source familiar with it says it’ll be a wide-ranging talk encompassing everything from the financial crisis, health care, and energy to Afghanistan and policy toward China and the entire East Asian region.

Scheunemann been a sharp critic of many aspects of Obama’s approach, most recently scoffing at what he described as a “unilateral preemptive concession” to Russia on missile defense bases in Eastern Europe. Scheunemann, an early supporter of the Iraq war, is prominent in the hawkish, internationalist, neo-conservative wing of the party’s foreign policy thought, and his place beside Palin also offers a bit of a clue as to the direction in which her vaguely-defined foreign policy views are likely to develop. Two other Republican policy hands, worked on the speech as well, I’m told: AEI China expert Dan Blumenthal and D.C. lawyer Kim Daniels.
