Alaska Left Behind
Here at Mudflats Central, we always get excited when we see that late night light on, beaming through the crack under the door of the Art Department. It can only mean one thing; our favorite creative mastermind ‘flyinureye’ has been working overtime, inspired by a certain recent event in Hong Kong.
It’s the latest offering from the soon-to-be-infamous “Left Behind” series. No, not THAT one. In this Left Behind Series, our former leader is the one who’s been raptured by the far right fringe, leaving all us Alaskans behind. Don’t feel too bad, though. We’re pretty much OK with that.

Love the graphic, Fly. Your proof reader should be clued in on the spelling of Wasilla, however. I know it should be spelled the way you did, if spelled as it is pronounced. We also pronounce Valdez as Valdeez. No understanding American English, let alone our Alaska twist on it. We just go our own weird way.

Poor Alaska, though, since Sarah Palin does represent the apex of Alaskan political ascendency. As Prudhoe Bay’s oil dries up and the oil revenues decline the state of Alaska’s political irrelevance will increase. It is likely that Alaska and Hawaii are going to be the first states released from the United States followng the Last In – First Out principle.
The United States of America is a country very much in decline. All the political nonsense of the 2008 election reveals the steepness of America’s downward slope.
The Republicans ran out of ideas a long time ago and the Democrats are quickly running out time.

Right-Wing Conference Tells Activists To Get Their Guns Ready For ‘Bloody Battle’ With Obama The Nazi
At the How To Take Back America Conference last weekend, conservative speaker Kitty Werthmann led a workshop called “How to recognize living under Nazis & Communists.” Announcing the panel in a column preceding the conference, talk show host Janet Porter gushed how Werthmann’s description of Austria in the 1930s is a “mirror to America” today — noting “They had Joseph Goebbels; we have Mark Lloyd, the diversity czar.” The room was packed over capacity to hear Werthmann, who grew up as a Christian in Austria and serves as Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum South Dakota President.
During her session, Werthmann went through a litany of examples of how President Obama is like Adolf Hitler. She noted that Hitler, who acted “like an American politician,” was “elected in a 100% Christian nation.” Although she failed to once mention Antisemitism or militarism, Werthmann explained how universal healthcare, an Equal Rights Amendment, and increased taxes were telltale signs of Nazism. Werthmann also warned the audience:
If we had our guns, we would have fought a bloody battle. So, keep your guns, and buy more guns, and buy ammunition. [...] Take back America. Don’t let them take the country into Socialism. And I refer again, Hitler’s party was National Socialism. [...] And that’s what we are having here right now, which is bordering on Marxism.
Werthmann noted that her Nazism speech is gaining popularity. She not only has delivered it to several tea parties, but has been asked by “a group of bankers” to address them this month.
Before the event, ThinkProgress asked Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), one of several Republican members of Congress also speaking at the conference, to autograph Werthmann’s DVD about National Socialism. She happily obliged:

We have ELECTED reps at this conference (many of them were also at the Values Voter Summit) and they should be called out and questioned whether they agree with the other speakers who are calling on American citizens to come out with guns against our POTUS who is a nazi. W T F ?????
If one of your reps was part of this Take Back America conference, please ask them about Kitty Werthmann and whether they agree. Maybe send a well crafted letter to your local paper.

I was very active in Jay Hammond’s 1978 campaign. We barely beat Hickel in the primary. I’m not a big Hickel fan, but if you haven’t read his recent Anchorage Daily News op-ed, you should. He articulated why Palin is dangerous and a threat to our American way of life– after reading Hickel’s comments, I realized Palin is simply UnAmerican. Thanks Wally for pointing that out.
I do hope that Tina Fey is hired to do the audio book… Either her or maybe William Shattner.

When I lived in Dallas, I occasionally was dragged along to a fancy luncheon. Between the Pledge of Allegiance, the prayer and the food, someone looking exactly like your rendition of Sarah, complete with the hair and the tiara, would be introduced as Miss (fill in the State) of 1954 who, “was fixin’ to sing us a lil number she wrote herself in blessed praise of awl mothers throughout our great land.” I swear it’s uncanny.
Palin’s boss (Rupert Murdoch) is UnAmerican too– he’s Australian, despite his recent pretentious change of citizenship.
When is Levi’s book coming out. I was hoping he’d beat “The Rogue’s” book & wonder if that’s why she stepped up the date. Going rogue…what a ridiculous title. She is such a moron. Love the queen size bumpit. Thanks Fly!
Palin’s book is 400 pages? I’m sure the 386 pages she did in San Diego with her big box of crayons will brighten her 14 pages of pros. Colorful pictures of Mexico (as she was overheard saying, “I can see Mexico from my room”) and the ocean (she was heard again, “What ocean is this one?”).
Calling her a b*tch is a bad reflection on female dogs; she’s just another sophomoric “want-to-be” that can’t even finsih anything to a schedule like everyone else.
And do you really think that Todd fathered her last child? Doubt it – and also doubt that the last Palin is hers. Too bad they can’t get a DNA test to see where the baby came from? Most of her staff never knew she was preggers and many didn’t believe her when she wore those falk outfits.
Hope her book shows up at the Dollar Store on November 20th – need something to get the fire started.
The crown on Palin’s head is appropriate– Rupert Murdoch reminds me of King George. Hickel, in his ADN op-ed, talked about how George Washington probably wouldn’t have been a big Palin fan (or King George’s or Murdoch’s).
Are Murdoch and Palin Royalists? According to Levy Johnston, Palin quit because she may not have been getting enough money from the petty puny little State of Alaska.
And Murdoch is a rich Commonwealth guy who became an American citizen perhaps because his accountant advised him he should. I see crowns everywhere.
Forgot about Levi’s book. He needs to get his book out by November16th. I’m still waiting on her higher calling. I hope she don’t think that she can be called upon as an expert on China.

My first thought was that date had some cultural significance for The Religious Right (like Waco and Oklahoma City had for those guys.)

Sometimes I don’t know what to say anymore.
I travel frequently during the course of every year (with my daughter married to an AF guy, stationed in Dover DE, my son in the Navy, subservice, stationed at Groton CT, and my wife’s two boys in Baltimore and Charlotte, NC.. we travel alot across the country).
I’m enroute back to Alaska tomorrow, coming from Eastern WA state, and when I meet people along the way, and they ask me where I’m from, the invariable question is, “what do you think of Sarah Palin?”
But, the tenor has changed from when we traveled last November (arriving back in Anchorage on Election Day… don’t worry, we voted absentee in case the plane was delayed!) In November there was a certain amount of excitement and mystery about our Dear Sarah; now, not so much, the look in their eyes is kinda… “Oh, you poor dear”.
I kid you not. Even my moderately republican step-sister told me today… “geez, what an embarassment for you.”
Anyway, this if from a frequent reader, and an infrequent poster.

@39 GG2B: It somehow doesn’t seem that “conservative” is an adequate adjective to describe Kitty Werthless. I’m leaning more towards “deranged”, or more charitably, “reasoning-impaired”.
Do you happen to know how old this (ahem) person is? I hope she’s younger than eighty, because then she’s just making stuff up, not that we need more of that. But if she’s older, and from Austria, and cannot tell the difference between Goebbels and Obama, she really needs medical attention.
Ah, I’ve now learned that Kitty is 84, which means that she is not simply making stuff up; she is actively lying.
